Today was my first day visiting Pet Supermarket but it won't be my last. As soon as I walked in I was greeted by William. He asked what type of pet I have and then explained the layout of the store. (I have a Pittie btw). There are a lot of products in this store! They have all the usual suspects: kibble, wet food, treats, refrigerated, etc. What sets them apart from other pet stores is that everything is neat and tidy and in their own specific sections. Everything is easy to get to and the selection is fantastic. But what really made my visit special was William. He was warm, cheerful, informative and genuine. As I waited in line I saw William interact with EVERY customer that walked through the door and those that waited in line. He had an intimate conversation with each of us but not too long so that we weren't kept waiting in line. He signed me up for their pet program for future discounts and even gave recommendations on hiking trails for my dog and me. Most of all, it was so relaxing in the store. I didn't feel rushed and there was no music blaring or dogs barking. Although there were a couple of cute ferrets sleeping, rabbits burrowing and parakeets chirping in their cozy little homes near the register. That absolute dirtiest pet supermarket I have ever been to dog hair everywhere. I had to get the cashier to clean the dog hair out of the sink that people left in there after cutting their dogs here which is not allowed, but the staff did nothing about it. hair was everywhere all in my nose, my hair. It was nasty. I would never take my baby there again. read more

Truly every time I come to this place, all of the employees are incredibly nice, welcoming, and knowledgeable. They go out of their way to help, and are so friendly at the cash register. When I've had my kids with me, they engage with them and truly just are the best. This neighborhood is such a "community," and they really do try to connect with everyone. Management must be doing something right! You treat your employees like you want your customers to be treated. Bravo! It is so refreshing to be running errands and treated so well. I am looking for finches and having difficulty finding a pet store that has any real knowledge about them. The young man at this business spoke as if he had no knowledge at all about the two finches they currently had in the store. This is very disappointing because after 19 years of working with animals this is the reason true pet stores are disappearing. Please have someone on staff that actually knows about animals and can speak to potential pet parents so these wonderful creatures can have a forever home. I absolutely do not recommend this business because they have not made the effort to provide accurate information about the animals they are making money off of. Heartbreaking! read more

The customer service at this location does not exist other than someone ringing the sale and asking if you are a member. This was my 1st time returning to this store in many years as I lost my previous pet. Because my experience was always pleasant, I returned today to get food for my new puppy. As I walked in, no one greeted me. I saw a young lady associate seated on the floor behind the cash register on her phone, so I know my presence was known. I walked the aisle to find the dog food and ran into another associate who looked me directly in my face and said absolutely nothing. Once I found what I was looking for, I headed to the register to check out. The young lady got off the floor and proceeded to ring my purchase but ONLY asked if I were a member. I said no, and she didn't even offer membership information. There was an error with the tap screen for the card, but again, she gave absolutely no instructions. All she asked was if I wanted a receipt after my purchase was complete. I have no idea if this food is more expensive at PetSmart or anywhere else, but I do not care. I will NEVER return to this specific location, and I am willing to pay more for a pleasant experience elsewhere. read more

Pet Supermarket is GREAT for some things- the bird stuff is well priced and definitely the best I've found in the area. The dog food selection is great. The small mammals are well taken care for- the cages are clean, the hamster and ferret and bunny that I've gotten there were all very friendly little animals, socialized and happy and healthy... But I cannot give this store anything higher than two stars. Their reptiles are in awful condition and always seem to be. There were CRICKETS in the cage with the sand boa- sand boas do not eat crickets! The ball pythons were covered in mites and on aspen bedding- if your animals have mites, you don't keep them on bedding! And you don't keep them near the other animals, so that the mites spread! No one ever has any water. There's always feces in the cages, and LOTS of it. The bearded dragons were skinny and sad looking. It's all well and good to take a stand and adopt dogs out and not sell them, to take care of the hamsters, to have healthy looking birds... but reptiles count as animals too, guys, and if you can't take care of them properly then you shouldn't sell them. Also: educate your staff. They shouldn't be surprised when a customer points out that an animal is ill. read more

I'm tired of people commenting on my cat MacGyver's so-called obesity. MacGyver is long and tall, so a greater amount of flesh is required to cover his substantial and muscular frame. Still, I can't defend his Fat Upper Pussy Area (pun indeed intended) when my fiance rudely points it out to MacGyver's face. I was excited to find a light version of Royal Canin's adult dry food formula and purchased a bag for MacGyver to try. Hopefully the recipe, with 16% less calories, still will satisfy his appetite. On the way out my fiance noticed a group of ferrets lying on top of each other in a cage. One of them slumbered alone, body twisted inside the curvature of a plastic purple tunnel. "They're kinda cute..." I sighed while watching one stretch like a kitten. "Ooo, look," my fiance winced, gesturing toward a pile of doo doo. "That's why you don't want ferrets. You wouldn't be able to stand the smell." The sight of said doo doo ruined my otherwise precious encounter with the ferrets. But at least I scored some diet cat food. read more

This gentleman saved the day for me. I had a dog harness that I used for dog boarding for a puppy that slipped out of her collar and so I bought this at the closing store on Phar. They told me I couldn't return it since they were closing. I came to this one and wasn't sure if they would return it for me. Sure enough he gave me the full price back since I had the receipt. Was very happy I could get full return because I did not need the harness at all anymore read more

My roommate and I purchased our sweet bunny rabbit from the Pet Supermarket a few months ago. We are first time bunny owners, so we had no clue what supplies to get. The female employee who helped us was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. She walked us through the aisles, pointing out the necessary and not-so-necessary items for our new little friend. She gave us great tips on general feeding and care, and I in no way felt like she was trying to oversell items or deceive us. Thanks to this positive experience, I will definitely be returning when I need to purchase more supplies. Or perhaps another furry friend. read more

Pretty standard stuff here and competitively priced compared to PetSmart- My fancycat loves the frozen food by Instinct Raw, and they have the trial-sized bags at this location. (Random side note- that stuff is worth every gold-gilded penny. Works wonders on his coat and fussy allergies...) I really enjoy this Pet Supermarket at Ansley Mall, more so than their other locations and Petsmart. It may be left over from a previous business and has no affect on this review, but the flooring is faux wood, almost warm and home-like. But you don't really care about the floor, do you? This store is adjacent to the interior courtyard, making it safer to enter and exit with the pooch. The store is well-stocked for pretty much all types of house pets, it's kept clean and there's no strange odors. The staff is knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. Plus, you've got the benefit of their location being next to many other great stores. read more

How wonderful to get out of big box petsmart! Its a cute little store and they have a pretty standard offering of items of dogs.

When I first started shopping here the guys who helped me turned me on to a really great food for my dog. It is gluten free, (I know that sounds crazy) and moderately priced. The best part of shopping here is their rewards program, every 12th bag is free! They also send out $15 coupons in three packs, $5 per month savings. Awesome! They have a great selection of all kinds of pet stuff. Some items that I buy frequently go on sale, so that's when I try to stock up. And you can bring your dog shopping with you which is convenient. Whoever checks me out always offers to carry the food to the car, which is also really nice. read more

The place is clean and well organized. Not bad priced either I would say on the same par at Petsmart...maybe a tad cheapeer on some products. BUT BEWARE of the dog food nazi that works there on Saturday and Sunday. It's this older woman that works for one of the food companies and regardless or how rude you are to her to leave you alone she will follow you around the store and pounce on you as soon as you enter. I've litterally had this lady follow me around the store asking me questions on every item I looked at and how it related to dog food that she's selling. Get RID of this crazy lady! The staff are not very knowledgable and they have seem to have difficulty keeping the basics in stock. Bottom line: strike with precision and get out. Despite living in the area, I stopped shopping here because they sell rabbits. There are always many rescue rabbits up for adoption at the Georgia House Rabbit Society, some of which were probably purchased at pet stores like this and then dumped. When Pet Supermarket stops selling rabbits I would consider supporting them, but until then, no way. read more

I used to enjoy shopping at this store, however, recently the employees have been very pushy about buying products. I can no longer buy toys or products without an employer pressuring me to switch dog food brands to high price and top quality foods. If you are like me, I hate being harassed while trying to buy a few simple items. And while many of the employees are very nice, others have a somewhat snooty attitude and lack positivity that is an essential characteristic for sales reps. They have a lot of products which is great -- but really miss out on some of the best quality foods such as Origin. I appreciate that the store works With FAC with two cats at a time. But when I showed caring and involvement and brought people to the store to see the cats and buy their products, I was met with rudeness and an abrupt curt voice tone and was told to contact FAC when I inquired about the status of the cats. Not all were like that but the primary contact person. In general, some of the employees are very knowledgable and invested in the care for animals. Others seem completely disinterested and unhelpful, counting the moments to leave. read more

This store has a good selection of Products, but the staff is horrible and not knowledgeable. I have been in many times and never quite had a pleasant experience. I asked about certain dog food and the employee knew nothing about it. I feel that if you are going to work in an industry you should know about the products your selling. When the animals get sick they rarely take them to the vet, I'm sure lives small or large could be saved if they cared. read more
