What a joke this place is ...I took my Yorkie to get groomed and the first thing he said was that he was matted ...not ..our dog was not mated he didn't even have long hair like that ..then they say 3 hours ....they end up calling us half hour later saying they couldn't finish the job ....the excuse was that My dog started screaming because the blow dryer they were using on another dog made him nervous...mind you he is sixteen and has been going to grooming all his life ...we decided to go there this time because it's much closer ..what a mistake my dog came out looking like a lawnmower ran over him...so unprofessional..if that was the case why not wait until the dryer was off ...they are just unprofessional, please do not go there.. read more

All I can do is laugh!!! These inexperienced groomers, first I was a half hour early for my appointment. They couldn't take her and put her in a cage. Secondly, they're telling me that she's all matted. She was not all matted. I don't know where they find these young people ignorant and rude, maybe they're proud of their " I'm a dog groomer" title. Always great to be proud of yourself. But, to attempt to make you feel like an irresponsible pet owner, I asked where she was all matted? "on her side" here's no matting on her side...show me...let me feel...she's shaved, there's no fur there to matt... just ridiculous. read more

We got a new cutie goes by the name Riff. A lot to know and a lot changed in the past 20 years since the last time I had a puppy. Read a lot, asked and searched, and came to visit Petco to buy some staff. I had the luck of meeting with a VERY friendly person at the Dogs section, who was thrilled to answer all my questions, and gave me many helpful tips. It was like talking to an expert and get all answers right away. This is something that made me remember that sometime it is not the store but rather that person that help. Half of the things I planed in buying I didn't really need, and for some she offered alternatives that were cheaper and better (who does that? ;). Overall I got here the best service. So, this just happened. I went to petco in north attleboro store #123. I was shopping for about 20 min and the entire time there was a dog non stop barking in the kennel/grooming area. Upon my checkout, I expressed my concern for the dog and his continous barking. The cashier replied, it's the grooming area, this goes on all day. What do you want ME to do about it? I asked her to get the manager and I expressed my concern to her. Her response was the same. I replied I was concerned and if she could check on the dog. She refused, said it's normal for them to bark all day. I said "well, after hearing about dogs dying at Petco grooming I just wanted to make sure the dog was okay. She said "dogs die on the street everyday, what do you want me to do about it?". At this point the conversation got pretty heated and I told her it was unacceptable for her to blow off my concern and to talk to me so rudely. She started raising her voice, and then went to check on the dog. She opened the grooming salon door and said to the groomer "some fu%&ing lady wants to make sure the dog is okay". The manager came back told the cashier to ring me up so I could get the hell out of the store. Other shoppers stood by with their jaws dropped. I then left my $147 worth of merchandise, said I would take my business elsewhere and walked out. Before I got to my car, I was talking to the corporate office. Last night I placed my order, this morning I drove there called them a few moments later he came out with my order, checked my ID through the window and put my purchase in the backseat through an open window. Just found out petco raised their dog grooming rates to $66 from $50-$55. This is pure and simple corporate greed! Their costs did not go up, rather they always seem to under staff to squeeze every penny from the shop. We will no longer leave tips. When we need new items for our dog, we normally go to PetSmart or Rumford's pet store, but last week we decided to take our pup to Petco just to test it out. It was a great experience to be greeted by one of the managers/head training specialists (Chris) as soon as we walked into the store, and we were treated to the highest level of service possible. He struck up a great rapport with our pup and was able to demonstrate to us how to teach him new commands during a short training session. The fact that Chris did this out of the kindness of his heart and was not obligated to do so by any means demonstrates a lot about his character and the overall service that the store provides. It was a pleasure to receive genuine advice and to be in an environment that gave off a positive vibe. The most enjoyable aspect of our experience at PetSmart was that we never felt pressured or pushed to buy anything or participate in classes. Having been greeted by most of the employees and even some fellow customers, our puppy felt loved and excited! As Chris is currently booked until the new year, we made sure to be added to the waiting list so that we could enroll our puppy in training sessions as soon as possible. Chris recommended we visit at least once every week or so, and that is something we intend to do. The service was great and given the fact that I took the time to write this review out says a lot too. We're happy we found our Go-To Pet Store in Attleboro. #TeamPetCo read more

They're handling the pandemic pretty well here. The store has never really been crowded to begin with so only a few precautions were really needed. Although this is not the closest Petco location for us (in fact, we drive past a few others to get here,) my family and I frequent this store. The aquatics section is incredible! I'm told this location is an "aquatics magnet store" which is apparently a special designation they've earned through various achievements that allows them to keep much more diverse species of fish and corals than other sites. As avid aquarists, we're amazed by some of the livestock we see here! I've included pictures of a few notable additions to our tanks that came from this location. The fish here seem to be very healthy, which is a pretty significant statement given the volume of fish in the store and how fragile some of them can be. Many other stores we've visited seem to have skinny fish, visible evidence of various parasites or illnesses, etc. None of that has ever been an issue here! read more

The only reason I am giving this grooming a ONE star is because it does not allow a ZERO. I have been to this location several times over the years and had to use them this time because my normal groomer is out of town, When I walked in and saw the amount of people and dogs and chaos that was going on I had second thoughts and almost left unfortanetly I didn't go with my gut. I went over My dogs needs a normal bath and cut showed the "groomer" how long she was to be left she has no medical issues nothing just a dirty dog who needed a cut. When I went to pick her up The place was a disaster dogs on every table the employees completely over whelmed it was very obvious that it was over booked the employees all frazzled I even witnessed a male groomer yell at the dog he was working on to stand up and pulled the dog up by his hind legs before using the holder. When my Mia came out I couldnt believe what I was seeing! She was SHAVED DOWN TO HER SKIN!!!! Not only was she shaved but her entire "mustache" area was NEON YELLOW!! It was so loud and out of control I decided to put her in the car and go back in. I questioned the person who was at the desk and was also the bather. I asked if she had thrown up because her mouth was "neon yellow" she told me it was Mia's "natural staining" absolutley not my dog has no staining ever and she was NEON YELLOW all she would say is it was staining over and over and over we went back and forth 10 times and she would only try to tell me that "its normal". I demanded to talk to the "manager" who was actually the woman standing next to her blowing piles of dog fur up into the crowd of 6 of us standing in the tiny vestibule waiting for their dogs. I asked her to come out to see Mia...I told her first of all she's SHAVED to her skin WHY? she didnt know I showed her the "neon yellow" she tried to tell me its from enzymes of a dog that licks. AGAIN she would not answer me just like the bather person she tried to tell me that it was staining we just kept going back and forth she was rude and just wanted to walk away and I was so furious that I just left. Being a dog mom I'm sure others have had a similar situation. As the day went on the "NEON YELLOW" faded and faded and is now gone..funny for a dog who is stained and "we didn't do anything to her" its now gone. I have no idea what they did to her or what they let her get into but her face is the white it ALWAYS is. As far as the shaved to her skin..her tail shaved to her skin...the under of her eye is deep red from the shaver and she has a Nic on her chest. So understaffed. I had stopped at Michaels earlier, so I probably should've have gone into Petsmart rather than coming here. But that was my mistake so who else can I blame? Anyway, I stopped in here even though it wasn't all that inviting. For that matter, this whole shopping center isn't that inviting. It's old, cold, and with the current construction, the parking lot is a disaster! Anyway, this Petco is actually on the newer side. Sort of surprising these days to find any new Petco, most of them are old, worn out and in need of renovations, but over time, consistently remodeling is happening in all of their locations (thank gosh!). However, this one still has one huge issue, staff. When I came in there was no issue, but after doing all my shopping (few cans of dog food and a few bags of treats), I went to checkout to a line of 6 people. And most of these people had multiple big and bulky things. Ugh. Went around looking for another employee to open another register and when that didn't work and the line had grown a few people longer, I just left, and bought what I could at the grocery store. Not only were the lines an issue here (if it's a Saturday, they should expect a crowd anyway!), but anyone shopping and needing help would be unable to get it since there wasn't anyone else on the floor. I did see a few employees in the grooming area, but they were working, and didn't need to be bothered. Quite a disappointment. Not a place I'd suggest. Especially considering Walmart, Target and Petsmart are all within one mile on this stretch of Route 1. 2 stars. read more

Not the best PetCo location, so I'm not loyal to shopping at this store anymore. I've been to others with more friendly and helpful staff. Also, the parking lot is an accident waiting to happen during busy hours. I shop at Pet Smart now, and find the experience is more enjoyable there. There are some employees at Pet Smart who have gone above and beyond to help, and the store is easier to access and park at, so I feel there is no reason to return to this PetCo. read more

I came here on a Sunday afternoon to get a few ghost shrimp because the ones that I had in my aquarium were dead, or really good at hiding. I picked some aquatic plants as well. I've been here a few times and it does take awhile to get an employee to get you your fish. It's always run by a skeleton crew. I waited and wandered for 10 min or so to find someone with a Petco shirt on. The previous time I was there, another customer, let's call him Steroid Dude, was also waiting to get some fish. Steroid Dude said that he had called an employee over from another department, but he had been waiting for half an hour and they haven't shown up. Eventually, Dude lost his patience and proceeded to grab a net and get his own fish. This is when the Petco employee came. The employee told Steroid Dude to stop and that he wasn't allowed to get his own fish. Steroid Dude was fuming and started shouting obscenities. A scene was caused. Other Petco employees eventually came out of the woodwork, and they kicked Steroid Dude out. What the wut? Who gets kicked out of a pet store? read more

We bring our 3 year old German Shepherd Kylo to the groomer here at Petco in South Attleboro often. Kylo is a very active dog, vocal and probably not the easiest to get calm during a grooming session. Our groomer Nichole is always friendly and courteous and always greet us with a smile. She goes above and beyond to make sure not only we are satisfied with our experience at Petco, but that Kylo has a positive experience at the groomer as well. We have enjoyed bringing Kylo to see Nichole and look forward to many more grooming experiences at this store in the future. Thanks for taking such great care of Kylo! read more

We have taken our chocolate lab here several times to be groomed but after our two most recent experiences, we will not be returning. A couple of months ago we brought Winston in for his "spa" treatment, which includes a bath and anti-shed treatment (he sheds a LOT). We were told it would take 2 hours. 2 hours later we went to pick him up, and he was not even close to being done (yet no one in the shop thought to call us and let us know it was going to be longer). It took them almost another hour and a half to finish grooming him, and then he was given to us with fur that was still damp. He did not look clean or nicely groomed as you would expect after almost four hours at the "spa." And he still had a ton of fur that should have been brushed out. We figured it was just a one-time thing, and decided to give Petco the benefit of the doubt this past Saturday (June 14, 2014). I dropped Winston off and let the girls know that he was shedding a lot and she said they would take care of it. Again, I was told 2 hours but this time they said they would call us. After 2 1/2 hours we heard nothing from Petco, so my boyfriend decided to head in the general direction of the store, thinking Winston must be close to being done by the time he got there. At this point Winston had been at the shop for 3 hours. When my boyfriend walked in the store he was informed that Winnie would be at least another 25 minutes. What's the issue Petco? Why can't you A) give an accurate estimated time or B) pick up the phone and CALL your customers to tell them that their dog will take longer than you anticipated? At this point it was close to dinner time and we had to rearrange our schedule because Petco couldn't be bothered to keep their customer informed. Not very courteous, no matter how busy your store might be at the time. And to add insult to injury, Winston again came back looking disheveled and in need of more brushing. $50 and our dog looks like we hosed him down in the driveway and left to dry in the sun. I realize a chocolate lab is a bigger dog and takes longer to brush, but in that case tell us and take the time to complete the job rather than do a poor job. We will not be back. read more

I brought my dog to get groomed here because petsmart did not have anything available. I have a sweet 1 year old boxer/lab mix and she has always done pretty well when she gets groomed. After about 45 minutes they called for me to come get her. When I walked in I heard one of the groomers yelling at her. I asked how she did and they said she was "fresh". I know my dog is not an angel, but she is a puppy. And I don't appreciate how they spoke to her and about her in front of me. I don't even want to know how they treated her when I wasn't around. Not only was the groomer rude and unprofessional, my dog was still wet when I got her. Next time I will wait for petsmart to have an opening. AND THEY DIDNT EVEN PUT A BANDANNA ON HER! read more

I started bringing my dog here when we moved to Attleboro because they were one of the only places I could get a weekend appointment with, and they're close to my house. I continued to bring him here just because they already had his records and it was easier than transferring him somewhere else (and further stressing him out... he already hates being groomed enough as it is). After my last two visits, I don't think I'll be returning. The last visit in particular, they really did a hack job on him. He came out looking like a 3 year old had taken a pair of scissors to him... the long hair on his legs had been trimmed at different lengths, and they missed a large section of his tail. To top it all off, he didn't even get a bandanna! Other times, they have done a good job, so maybe it just depends on which groomer you get, but I really don't think I should have to request a specific groomer for a dog. The cost of their grooming services is also pretty insanely high, if you ask me. I have a 40-45 pound Australian shepherd/black lab mix, and a wash, cut, dry, nails, ears, and teeth was running me around $60 not including tip. After calling a few other places, it sounds like I should be paying more in the $40-50 range. I will be looking elsewhere for my future dog grooming needs! read more

I see a lot of 1 star reviews here that are drastically different from my experience so.. We adopted our dog Corbeau a few months ago from the humane society and quickly learned he was terrified of water. He's a huge sweetheart and I was really nervous about bringing him somewhere to be groomed. My sister brings both her large dogs here for grooming and has always had a positive experience so I decided to give it a try. The girls working when I went in were honestly wonderful; they put my mind at ease and made sure he was getting exactly what he needed, nothing more, nothing less. It took exactly an hour as they said it would and when I picked him up he was not at all afraid or worked up, and as a sensitive dog I can tell when he's had a bad experience. My boyfriend and I recently adopted a young cat from a rescue group. I had heard quite a few horror stories regarding Petco's grooming services so originally decided to steer clear when researching places to get her nails trimmed. I always try to support local businesses but unfortunately due to my work schedule, the majority of the family-owned grooming salons nearby are closed by the time I get out of work and were going to be closed for the duration of the Memorial Day holiday weekend. After exhausting my local groomer options, I called PetSmart first, which I typically preferred over Petco, (always found them to have better organization and upkeep), but was disappointed when I was told "Oh we haven't offered cat services in over 2 years." I found this very discouraging and why hasn't their website been updated in over 2 years to reflect their current services? I called Petco as a last resort and the phone was answered by an actual person right away. A sweet bubbly girl answered the phone and transferred me to the grooming department, they said come on in anytime before 7pm and it would be $10, easy peasy. I walked in after work with my cat and was greeted by the groomer on duty; she was finishing up grooming on a young black lab. She took interest in me and my cat and we chatted about the pet adoption process, her name was Alexis. Although my cat loves people, she still gets a bit skittish when being held, so trimming her nails wasn't the easiest endeavor. Alexis called in another employee for assistance and they were done within minutes. The ladies were genuinely interested in me and my cat. They commented on how beautiful she is and how well behaved (for the most part). They gave me tips and pointers on her care, showed me the clearance section for good deals, as well as offered me a booklet and coupon book that Petco provides for the owners of adopted animals. They even went through the booklet with me and gave recommendations. I couldn't believe how nice and knowledgeable these ladies were. Due to their help, I left the store having saved a ton of money and getting everything I needed. My experience at this Petco exceeded my expecations and I will be requesting future services from Alexis from now on! read more

Come here fairly often. We have a leopard gecko. Staff is usually pretty friendly, but I almost always wait a long time for someone to get crickets for me. And, they are pretty expensive crickets; can get twice the crickets for 1/2 the price at a local shop in nearby Cumberland. I come to PetCo for convenience. Other downside is the variability in knowledge of the staff. Some are great, don't get me wrong. But, I've had my share of bad advice here. Today, I had someone insist my gecko needed a UV light at night (just plain wrong) & tried to sell me a 100 watt bulb (too strong for my size tank), then proceeded to tell me I didn't know what I was talking about! Another time, they told me to feed her produce...since I actually like my pet, I'm not doing that. And another time, they told me I could feed her a pinky mouse. Really? Um, no...another bad recommendation. I can't speak to the other areas since my gecko is the only animal I have. I hear they are amazing with furry friends & fish. read more

I come here to buy my little guy's "Royal Canin" brand food (they have the special formula for Oriental breeds) and that's pretty much it. Location is "okay" (parking lot gets crazy) and the store layout is a little confusing. (Example: three aisles of cat toys followed by five aisles of dog products followed by another four aisles of cat products. ....Okay-doki.) Staff is always friendly on every visit, although the store could use a serious cleaning: it's well organized and stocked however I spied a gracious amount of dust in random places as well as the absolute freakiest spiders in the women's' restroom. Totally understand a couple critters here and there but girl, I'm talkin' half a fist size creepies hanging on the ceiling over the toilet, the walls, the door, etc. ...Not really feelin' it. PetCo is a very weird set up. I can never find anything easily because the set up isn't really aisles but more "pods" of things for different pets. Very confusing. I do prefer supporting the local pet stores, but honestly, the selection is so lacking there that PetCo and PetSmart are my preferred. PetCo has a great rewards program unlike PetSmart, and they have the Star Wars themed toys, so I try to stop when I can to PetCo vs PetSmart even though it's more convenient. I wish the store was more organized, but I do appreciate that they have the dental toys and whatnot that PetSmart does not. read more

Really not happy with my stop today. I called ahead to see what could be done for my dog today or tomorrow since his nails are so long. I figured I'd do a bath with a nail trim but they didn't have time so told me to come in for a walk in nail trim service. I came after picking up my daughter at preschool so my 4yr old was waiting with me and my hyperactive dog. I came in and literally nobody was in the grooming room except the groomer Nicole (I think that's her name). She told me she couldn't check me in because she had to check in another dog. No dog was in sight but I figured I'd give her the benefit of the doubt. A few seconds passed and then a woman walked in the side door to pick up her dog. She checked out and in that time another woman came in behind me with a dog and a man also walked in behind us. Nicole greeted the man first and went in back to get his dog and check him out. Ignoring me... THEN she checked in the lady and dog behind me taking her time explaining to her all the options while I'm standing there in the heat with my 4yr old getting in everyone's way and my crazy dog trying to escape. Ignoring me while she did so. Finally after 10 minutes and everyone else's needs were met, it was my turn. I walk up and she logs into the computer to tell me my dogs Rabies was expired and she can't clip his nails. Are you Effin kidding me??? If she'd checked me in first when nobody was there, she would've seen that and I could've just gone home. But no. I wasted 10+ minutes and a lot of hassle trying to control both my dog and young child in the craziness of 3 other people with their dogs in a tiny 4x4ft space for her to tell me she can't help me??? I've been coming here 10 years and my dogs have NEVER had an expired rabies. Never. Tip: check people in when the arrive especially long-standing customers who tip 25% every visit. Tip #2: don't check in customers who come in after customers who aren't yet checked in. Tip #3: Remind people about Rabies certificate needs while on the phone or check to make sure they have them before asking them to waste a frustrating amount of time in their busy day for no gd reason. I have to say after my experience there today I will not be back to shop or hold any adoption events. It seemed as though we were more of an inconvenience to them. The way we were spoken to was completely unprofessional. There were maybe 3 employees that were pleasant. The GM wasn't exactly thrilled to have our organization there. We will go to a different store where the staff is a lot more friendly and inviting. Unfortunately, this whole experience put a bad taste in my mouth. I will not even go shop here again. I stopped in to this location yesterday to return an item I had bought online. The cashier got the manager, stout, tattooed, dark hair, who would not accept my return because I had only brought the packing slip from the order, not the return slip. She scolded me repeatedly for not having the slip and said she would have to call someone and since it was Saturday it could take a while. I knew she was trying to deter me from following through but I said that was fine and proceeded to browse while she stomped away. Not 4 minutes later she returned with all the information needed and processed my return all the while continuing to scold me over not having the return slip. First, it was an online order, I had all the information she needed in my pocket since everyone in the free world has a cell phone with email access. Second, it is not my job to make her job easier. She chose a career in CUSTOMER SERVICE, I did not. Third, I am not a child and this woman has no superiority over me and therefore had zero right to speak down to me and scold me repeatedly. I am disgusted by her behavior and will be sending an email to the BBB in addition to this review and definitely will not be shopping with Petco ever again. Innitially i came here for a free bag of Nutro dog food for my dog. (They had a coupon online for it) I come here maybe 3x a year max... it's always dead... which to me is a good thing because I hate people and I hate waiting haha.. anyways... I brought my daughter here and planned on getting a hamster or something... I ended up getting two mice because of the price... they were only 4.99 each unlike the hamster being 14.99 each and I wanted to get two so they weren't lonely. The man who helped me yesterday was SUPER knowledgeable! I've never owned mice before and he answered all my questions! I've done some research online when I got home and he was right about EVERYTHING he was telling me. I'm so happy with this service. The black girl who cashed me out was basic bit pleasant... but I've had amazing staff at the cashier before as well. Super personalities. Petsmart may look neater and more high-end but this Petco is really nice and laid back. I recommend getting their loyalty card, which is free and also saves a decent amount of money! read more

My wife and I come here a lot for our dog and they have a great selection of food and many options in regards to vitamins, shampoos, wipes, etc. My dog suffers from seasonal skin allergies and many of their multi-vitamins are very helpful and have helped him. We also bring him to the groomer for teeth cleaning and tail trimming, they are kind to the pets, and they are quite fast. It's good to know we can drop him off at one side of the store, go grab what we need inside, and then return to the groomer side and he's all set to go. Really great location.
