This Petco sits alongside Kroger in a large plaza on Franklin Road, and is your standard Petco location. I happened to be shopping for groceries next door and when I was leaving, I decided to swing by Petco to checkout their treats for the pupper. I do not normally do big box pet stores, but one thing I do enjoy about Petco is the treat options! I always seem to find something my little dude enjoys. Pricing is okay, a bit steep on select items, and in line on others. Service is friendly and helpful. J was greeted upon entry and cashier was nice during purchase. Our first experience grooming our puppy at this location was fantastic! Our stylist - Lucien - walked me through all the steps that would be taken for our puppy since it was her first time getting a hair cut/bath combo. I'm going to try and bring her back in a month or two for a fuller trim since today they were just trying to introduce our puppy to scissors/being in a salon and didn't go too in depth. Update to my prior review I received a call from April the regional manager for Petco and of course some more BS beware they're 100% satisfaction guarantee is a gimmick. I was told in order to get a refund after butchering my dog I would need to go inside the store where services were provided, unfortunately I am a healthcare traveler and I'm no longer in that area. I do I know there are other ways to refund customers other than having to go into the place of service, also why would I go into the place where that store manager was a big part of the issue!! Very poor customer service at the corporate level, I highly recommend finding another place for your animal and their needs as we will not use Petco ever again.!! It's not a 100% guarantee. I was ecstatic to purchase bettas for my new home. However, I was denied the sale until evidence confirming a 2.5 gallon tank with a heater and filter was purchased. Of further concern: none of the bettas in store were housed in 2.5 gallon tanks with heaters and filters. There was no example of a model in store, nor documentation supporting this requirement. Some of the bettas in store were dead, too. I left confused by the double standard the store / company isn't following, and the neglect of the bettas at the customer's expense. I am heartsick to witness Petco cruelty, neglect and to be denied the sale of the bettas to give them the beautiful life they deserve. They are dying at Petco. This is cruelty. read more

I had to drive pretty far to get to that Petco and no one sent me a text or even called to cancel. They were very rude at counter and not accommodating at all. The 210 Franklin Rd STE 300 store in Brentwood, TN is terrible. First, we showed 15 minutes fore opening and they would not let anyone in. Normally, I would not mind since you can't argue with store hours, but it is 28 degrees outside they did not care there were people with dogs waiting. But, I understood and did not have my dog so waited in my car for 15 minutes since it's not a big deal. 9am comes and they would not let us in, stating they did not open until 10am. We kindly pointed to their own sign on the door said it opened at 9am. They said they did not know and had to open register and put animals back in their habitats and we couldn't come. Went here to buy a couple goldfish and was refused service. They wouldn't let me buy fish. I was told that unless I bought a 40 gallon tank and brought them a water sample in a few weeks they wouldn't sell me 2 fish. Absolutely ridiculous. Will never come back to this location again. I am in complete shock. I had a scheduled bath appt for my dog at 5pm after work. The PETCO groomers on Franklin road called me and asked me to come early because they'd had a cancellation. I left work early and made an effort to get there only to be told once I arrived that they could not see my pet. I missed an entire hour of work and then wasn't even able to have my dog groomed. The girls at the desk were not only unhelpful, they essentially told me the woman who called me lied about being able to see my pet. I not only won't be bringing my dog back here, I won't be using this store where I spend THOUSANDS of dollars ever again. You just lost a loyal customer for life! Have a sick elderly cat that has become very picky with food. Picked up a pack of Tikicat Mousse and it was covered in dust, which made me check the date. Expired!! So I start checking the dates on other items I had, lo and behold, expired, expired, expired!!!!!! Some were almost a YEAR expired!!! How disgusting. Clearly the employees and management are not doing their job. If you shop here, CHECK THE DATE on every item! I made an appointment for a bath for my senior dog. She had been to this location once before for a bath and the groomer on staff at the time did a decent job. Upon arrival for my 9AM appointment, I was refused service, and told it was "company policy" not groom this breed (Yorkshire Terrier) for which a collapsed trachea is a common condition. This "policy" was not explained to me when I made the appointment. The refusal to provide service is particularly puzzling given my dogs full medical history and proof of vaccination was provided upon her very first appointment for a bath. In addition to the significant inconvenience of traveling to this location, I raised concerns about the apparent and pervasive violation of "company policy" as my dog, and other Yorkshire Terriers have clearly been customers of this location and others across the country. When I asked for a copy of the policy, it could not be produced and when asked for the name of the store manger, to address my concerns, the employee could only provide his first name --- yet another example of the unfortunate lack of organization and knowledgeable grooming professionals, others have commented on in their recent reviews. read more

I had a handful of items and my small dog in a carrier sling. The girl with the long curly and stringy hair working the register was so RUDE that I am now home and still thinking about it. She couldn't be bothered--leaning against the register, looking at her phone, and giving such attitude. I have been going to this Petco on and off for 2 years and this week I was extremely disappointed. I have a Great Dane German Shepherd mix = BIG DOG who cannot fit on the table at this location without two people there. The first time I ever had his nails done, they help him on the ground and clipped his nails. Apparently that is now against policy, which is not a problem HOWEVER the groomer told me after I paid for his nails to get done then came and told me I needed to come back on Friday when there were two groomers there. I brought my dog to work so I could get this done, called and no one answered, and when I showed up to get his nails done again I was told both groomers were out. I understand people get sick, I understand I have a big dog. But you cannot expect to have a customer pay for services and not follow up with them for weeks at a time. Especially when it's something as simple as clipping his nails. I understand the table policy, but having a 100+ lb dog on a tiny table and someone who cannot lift the dog on the table is just bad business. Zero star. Zero. Zilch. Nada. The absolute worst customer service and grooming team on this entire planet. Blatantly disregarded how we wanted our dog's hair cut. We informed them to call us if there was any issues or matting- there wasn't because we brush him every single day and took him to one of our friends, who is a QUALIFIED groomer and she said he looked great. The lady told us two hours for grooming. After 3 hours my wife couldn't get anyone on the phone and finally on hour 4 they called informing us our dog was ready to be picked up. To her surprise, they completely shaved our golden doodle and said it was a "health concern" and he was matted. After my wife informed them she did not sign any paperwork in regards to that. Ohhhhhhhh mannnnn we are fired up. Avoid this place like a plaque and the entire grooming team should be fired!!!!!!! I wish I was making this up to how incompetent some people are. And The lady had the nerve to tell my wife to not show emotion because dogs sense emotion. Again, lack of training. Lack of qualifications, just hire anyone to keep the money coming in. Unreal. We visit this location and the one off Murfreesboro pk. Groomers have always been friendly. Getting my baby boy in and out is usually pretty easy. His usual groomer wasn't going to be available for a while and he desperately needed a haircut... i know now to wait next go round. It's choppy, uneven, not blended, and in some areas still has tuffs of fur. At first I thought it wouldn't be noticeable, but my family and friends have asked if he has mange or something. Petco Grooming- although they advertise curbside pickup, when I arrived for my dogs' grooming appointments, I was told had to bring the dogs inside. I canceled the appointments. PetSmart offers curbside service, but they are always booked up several weeks in advance. Now I understand why!! Am 75 with heart condition. Go anywhere except here to get your dog groomed. They haven't had stylist for months and when you show up the stylist is not there that day or hours have been modified without posting it on the website and you can never get thru on the phone. When you go there's no signage on the grooming door to let you know of hour changes or whether anyone showed up or not so you wait 15 mins or more until a customer service rep notices you and asks if you need help only to be told that no groomer is there when the day before you were told they would be in. I understand things happen but you could at least post updated hours and have a sign on the door. read more

The Brentwood, TN Petco is the only place I purchase my fish and small animals as well as all habitat accessories and tanks. Their fish tanks and animal habitats are pristine thanks to Tofu Yarra and Regan. I can't say enough good things about this particular locations. all the employees go above and beyond taking care of their animals and customers. Tofu is the fish guru! He will thoroughly walk you through what each specific species needs to thrive including tank size accessories and food, as well as educate you in a fun way as you go! He has totally changed the fish game there l, ordering a wide variety as well as specialty fish. Tofu will even special order any fish imaginable you are looking for. Yarra works so so hard to keep the store stocked clean and is just an all around amazing pet care expert and can help you with anything from fish to small animal to dogs and cats. Regan could not be any sweeter and is so well educated on all their animals as well. Literally the only store I trust purchasing healthy fish and small animals from as well as toys and treats for my Pup. The "bad" reviews are obviously from a while ago or someone was upset about not being sold an animal they clearly knew nothing about caring for. I.e. wanted to put too many fish or a large fish in a tiny tank or a small animal in a teeny tiny habitat that would most likely kill it in the short or long run. I would never go to the other big chain rival pet store to purchase fish covered in ick or poorly treated small animals with wet tail if my life depended on it! Again I cannot say enough good things about the Brentwood TN PetCo and the employees that work there day in and day out to provide the best products services and healthiest animals possible. My grooming was terrible. I paid almost $180 and they cut one of my dogs so bad she was traumatized. She had cuts above her elbows and also at the high areas on both hind legs, they also cut her hair too short around one of her ears causing a really bad burn and a huge scab that protruded our of her ear. I even gave the groomer a $20 tip... this is the 2nd terrible experience I've had with petco and will no longer continue to groom my pets here read more

Honestly wasn't a fan of PetCo mainly due to the fact that most of their items seem to be overpriced in comparison to others. Although recently my dog had developed an allergy that vets could not figure out. I had spent thousands of dollars and months of research very frustrated in the fact I had no answers. Walking in last week, I had discussed this problem with a worker Thomas. He had directed me towards a food he recommended and also a diagnosis he figured would be the most logical reason for her allergy. Turns out Thomas was right. Tried to call corporate to let them know of his outstanding customer service as well as care and support for others. Went with intentions of having a short haircut due to my dog starting to get matted from the hot weather. Called after 3 hours of waiting to get an ETA on picking my dog up and was put on hold. Turns out they clipped her back leg with scissors and she was being taken to the vet behind the store. Rushed to the vet they told me to go to and the vet staff didn't even know my dog was coming. Called the groomers twice to see where they had taken my dog and the groomer went to a complete opposite vet 10 mins away. When seeing my dogs cut it wasn't as bad as I had imagined, but she still required glue sutures to close it. Petco covered the costs, but I still cannot get over the lack of communication between the staff and vet and me (the owner) about the whole situation. And my dog was left looking worse than she went in there due to the left over hair needed to be cut. read more

The trainers are great but the "store manager," Carlene is very unprofessional. My pup has been groomed there twice. The first encounter was with Carlene. She was rude and her tone was unprofessional. She stated she had to put my dog in a crate.She complained when I informed her that my pup had separation anxiety and couldn't be crated. I informed her that I provided that information in the comments when I booked the appointment online. Well, she didn't know that & said I should've called to make the appointment not online. I told her that's what the comment box is for. As is the scheduling app. She was not there for the second appointment and everything went well. But not for the third one. I received a voice message that my dog couldn't be groomer at the scheduled time. When I called back she proceeded to tell me that I couldn't book her grooming session online. Well, apparently so because it was the third time I'd booked online. Her response was that several appointments can be booked at the same time & someone was already booked. Then apparently there's a problem with their website & not the customers. When I told her that she hadn't made an effort to offer another time she said they were booked. i explained we would be traveling and couldn't come another day. Also that she didn't offer a time today or even apologize for their error. she said she had another appointment and that was it in the same rude, disrespectful, and unprofessional tone she took the first time we spoke. I asked to speak to the manager. She then laughed and said she was the manager. So I told her there wasn't anything funny. She then raised her voice and I told her she was unprofessional and not to raise her voice at me. I then asked for the name & phone number of the regional manager but she hung up. I called back 4 times, speaking to 2 different women. Each put me on hold and didn't come back. I filed a complaint with corporate. I was informed that Carlene is not the store manager but over grooming. So she's not only rude and unprofessional but a liar! Since my picky dog has gotten even pickier about her food, she now only eats a frozen, raw, grain free brand that so far I've only seen at Petco. I used to only go to Petsmart but when I first went into Petco I just liked the vibe better. It's a little smaller so it's easier to see everything and the brands carried seem to be a bit better. Like I said, my dog is super picky, so I've gone through quite a few of the better brands of dog food, and Petco has a great selection of these brands. The store is also organized well so you can find everything from a brand all together. The selection of treats and chews is great!!! Every time I go in there I want to just load up on a new selection of treats for her!! Petco carries treats that I don't see in a lot of other pet stores! They also have a section that is just for treats made in the US, which is really nice. My only reasoning for giving 4 stars is that they don't seem to hire the best employees. It's not that they aren't friendly, because most are, but getting a good cashier that it is fast and knows what they are doing is really few and far between. I took my sweet boy in for a bath and specifically asked you will not be doing any cutting on his fur and she said No. I picked him up and his paws were trimmed, he had cute little snow shoes and now they are gone. Been here a few times for different dog items and to get my dog's nails trimmed, average experiences. My dog needed to be groomed and I usually do it, but don't have time right now, so I called to make an appointment last week. They were unable to make a soon appointment, so I had to wait until the following week (today, Friday, February 5 at 10:00am). Well, I got an email yesterday saying my appointment was at 1:00am on Friday, February 6. Definitely odd. Then today when I showed up at 10, there was no one there to check my dog in, at 10:15am someone came out. They said my appointment was at 9 and dug my dog's papers out of the trash to show me. Then she asked if I got a call yesterday, and I told her no, but I did get an email saying it was at 1am! She said, "well since you weren't here at 9, I put someone else in your spot," and nothing more, not willing to remedy the situation at all. I said, well I guess I'll just take my business somewhere else. Then she said, "oh, I can still do it! what do you want done?" Well I explained everything, and she said she didn't have time, but could do less. So I agreed, since I really wanted my dog cleaned up. When I went to pick her up, I waited again for 5 minutes this time until I was noticed. When she gave me my dog, she said "he really didn't cooperate with the brushing or touching his feet, and he hated the blow dryer; you need to work with him at home, cause he acts likes he's never been brushed." First of all, my dog is a GIRL, she's a therapy dog, 7 years old, and a Wheaten Terrier, so I have to brush her all the time! I was highly offended! I have brushed her many times a week for the last 7 years, she's used to being touched by strangers, and I shouldn't be scolded by a groomer. Anyways, don't go here for grooming, $80 for a bath, brush, nail trim, and scolding isn't worth it! read more

i've had my dog (a 6lb havapoo) groomed twice at Petco now. once at the franklin location and once at the brentwood. would highly recommend. both times they've followed exactly what i asked them to do and were very friendly. my dog's groomer at brentwood is named Denise and she was wonderful! it was easy to tell she wanted to do a very good job and takes her work seriously. 10/10 would recommend grooming your pet at Petco. read more

I have taken my dog to be groomed in the past. It seems like groomers roll through here at about a 3 or 4 month clip. I have never seen the same groomers' names on the wall twice. However, up until now I have had good experiences. I took my dog to be groomed today. I WILL NEVER GO BACK. The inexperience and the attitude of the groomer, problems mentioned in earlier reviews, was just appalling to this long time customer. Also, I noticed that one review notes that their dog was recently injured and had to go to the vet after a visit. Stay away from this store for dog grooming. Their care of animals from my recent experience and observation is left to inexperienced and in my opinion very sub par groomers who are more interested in rolling the dogs through like parts on an assembly line. read more

I walked in with my dog today who is 1 year old. She is a lab and yes, can be hyper. She is a service dog though, and she has been trained with a duck dog trainer for obedience. I had a very rough day and went to pick up some things from this store with her. I worked all morning, so I was trying to get her out of the house with me. The cashier, Devon, was very rude and condescending to me. My dog was sniffing around as a puppy does, but she asked me "Has your dog ever been in a store before?' and are you sure you don't want to do the dog training we offer?" It made me feel so uncomfortable. I was nice and bubbly to her the whole time, but every comment had to do with making me feel like an inadequate dog mom/owner. I will never go to this store again. I will say the store was clean and organized. I spent about 120$ today just to feel ashamed to teach my dog and continue getting her acquainted to going in stores with me. Like i said before, I will never go back. I will say the young man was helpful and sweet and could tell my feelings were hurt. He is the reason this store gets at least one star because Devin made me feel like I was the worst owner on the planet and that my dog was terrible.
