Ali and everyone at Nashville K-9 were absolutely great and did a fantastic job training our dog! Our dog, Purdy, is a Brittany Spaniel and was about 11 months old when she stayed with Ali for the 2 week obedience training program. While Purdy still has LOTS of energy, she learned how to be calm and listen to commands, and she now has house manners that I was never able to teach her on my own. She can sit and lay down while I walk 20-25 feet away without breaking her pose (and our distance is improving everyday). She can walk on a leash and heel like a pro, both when we practice at home and out in public. She has also learned to respond to her name and come when called, which was never entirely successful before her training, even if in the middle of a dead sprint across the dog park. She even learned a few agility tricks that we can keep working on. Ali and his whole team were really great to work with; they were really responsive to our concerns and talked us through their methods and the science behind their training. They were also really great about sending us pictures every few days while Purdy was with them to show us her progress and that she was having fun. The facilities at Nashville K-9 were great, and the property was really well set up to be sure that all the dogs were safe. At the end of the training, they did a 2 hour class with my husband and I to explain to us all that Purdy had learned and how to keep her practicing and improving. They also gave us a routine for every day life training and exercise that has really helped us to get Purdy into a steady routine that works for both us and her. Also, once you become a client, Nashville K-9 offers boarding options, with continued basic training/refresher training, which seems so much better than dropping her at the Vet or a Doggy Daycare for boarding. So, even though Purdy has only been home for a little while since her training, she's going to go back for a few days while we go on vacation and keep going with her basic training to make sure that nothing is lost during the disruption to our new routine. All in all, we couldn't be happier with our experience at Nashville K-9. While the training program can seem expensive at first, the training that Purdy received was one hundred percent worth it for us. We lead busy and hectic lives, constantly commuting to and from Nashville and Hendersonville, TN, and we travel a lot with our dogs. Our hyperactive puppy came home as an energetic but well mannered dog after only two weeks with Nashville K-9. Before the training, Purdy would be destructive and would be constantly roaming at full speed around the yard and the house; now, she will calmly sit in her own spot and play with her toys without very much, if any, prompting. Just having her be calm and mannerly in the house was a fantastic improvement, so much so that all her other new skills just seem like a bonus. I really couldn't recommend Nashville K-9, Ali, Slone, and Damon any more highly. read more

Choosing a a dog trainer is a difficult and emotional task, especially when you put your dog's well being and your peace of mind into some one else's hands. This dog is my daughter's baby, so sleep away training was a hard sell. I investigated many options, but after speaking with Ali Hemyari at Nashville K-9 on the phone I was very encouraged. Together with my family we went to visit their facility. We met numerous people involved with all aspects of the training and dog care. Everyone was polite, knowledgeable and patient with all our questions. The facility is beautiful! The kennels are cleaner than most houses, they have a huge training field with agility course work, and an air conditioned indoor training center. The dogs have immense amounts of well maintained land to run and play on between training sessions. It is amazing how much they were able to teach our dog. She had multiple trainers to avoid dependence on any single individual as well as group play with well matched dogs. She was safe and loved her entire stay. We were nervous to leave her, but about every 3 days they sent us numerous pictures of our dog in training sessions. We were able to watch her progress and at the same time see that she was super happy and having a great time. We had some travel scheduled during this time, regardless of time zones or days of the week, Nashville K-9 immediately responded to any emails or phone calls. This is not just an organization of dog trainers. These people really love dogs!! It was so clear in watching them handle and train other customer's dogs, but also in watching our dog progress through the pictures. When we came to pick her up today we had an hour and a half "human training" with our dog. We were taught how to command and work with her. Additionally we received a DVD with our dog in it demonstrating the trainers performing the commands we learned. Personally I find this to be an exceptional detail as it is so much to take in amidst the dog and human excitement. We left today with a well loved dog who was trained and happy. The care she got at Nashville K-9 exceeded what I can do, weekly nail clipping, ear cleanings and baths are only a few examples. This group of people, this organization went beyond my expectations and hopes. They don't just train, they develop relationships with each dog. They provide you with a manageable daily training schedule and a list of necessary items to assist with training. They don't abandon you when you take your dog home, they are available if you hit a snag or get a bit lost. I have so much to say about this place! ALL GOOD, so here it goes. We have never been a family that had the capacity or the time to have a dog, let alone TWO! However, finally after raising our daughters to the ages of 16 and 19, decided to get a puppy. We settled on the Golden doodle breed. We found a breeder in KY and couldn't decide on which puppy of the last two left from the litter we wanted, so we prayed and bought both; they were little brothers. We named them Kaspar and Oakley! It was clear when we got them home that Oakley was an anxious puppy and needed his brother by him at all times. To train Oakley apart from Kaspar was JUST not going to be possible for us. SO, I was referred to Nashville K9 by an employee of mine who sent her german shepherd to them. I contacted Ali to inquire about the programs, cost and availability; he immediately got back to me and we settled on a two week training program for both the dogs. We were able to get them booked over the Thanksgiving Holiday which was so helpful. When we dropped them off on the 20th, I took a tour with my daughter of the facility and we were so impressed with the state-of-the-art kennels and cleanliness. These people clearly knew what they were doing and gave us the level of confidence and security we were looking for. Within just 3 days of leaving our dogs there, one of Ali's expert trainers and behaviorist, Damon called me personally to let me know of the difficulties they were having with Oakley's anxiety and how debilitating it was to him and his ability to train. They said they would do their best with him to figure out a way to get him trained and they did exactly that! They spent 10x as much time with Oakley as they did any other dog there those two weeks, including his brother Kaspar. They really individualized his training and delivered on their promise! Ali's team does a great job of communicating with you while your dogs are with them. Adrienne is a phenomenal photographer and I found myself excited on Tuesdays and Saturdays waiting for her to email me photos of our puppies. We picked both Kaspar and Oakley up on the 4th of Dec and went through a 3.5 hour training course with Damon. Oakley came home significantly more confident and mastery of his environment while Kaspar learned so much so fast that I'm not sure we can keep up with how smart and well trained he is. It seems that Kaspar has been Oakley's service buddy by default and now Oakley is much more confident and independent of Kaspar, which is really nice to see for both of them. Incredible Professionalism. Reliable results. Sincere care for my dog. I cannot recommend Nashville K-9 enough. Assuming you have the $1500 for the 2-week program, or the $3000 for the 4-week (at the time of writing), I don't think your money can be better spent. My wife and I took out a small loan just to make sure we could get the training because we were so certain it was the best option for us. Nashville K-9 comes out to just under $5 per hour for their services, plus the food you take along. Per hour, pet stores charge $50, trainers charge $100-$200, and certified behaviorists $200+. Moreover, these latter options only meet for one or two hours per appointment. The per-hour cost, dedicated attention, and long list of recommendations and reviews online led us to select Nashville K-9. Nashville K9 provided our dog with attention and care she needed. We picked up a healthier, more social, and more communicative dog. Moreover, Ali and Damon trained my wife and me to be better owners and communicators. They allowed us to communicate with our dog like never before. I'm writing this review 4 months after using their services. I can safely say that Nashville K-9 laid a foundation for a great relationship between our dog and us. We've used it to build additional training with her on our own. Moreover, in the 4 months, they've followed up a couple times, and when we had questions and contacted them, they replied the same day. They sincerely wanted our dog and us to get better. Even though I knew, rationally, that Nashville K-9 was the best before we took our dog in, the 4 months afterward, cultivating a congenial and professional relationship with Nashville K-9, made me feel great about my choice. Nashville K-9 made my dog healthier and better at communicating, and they put me, an anxious owner worrying about his dog with moderate anxiety, at peace. They have proven their professionalism on every occasion, and I cannot recommend them more highly. The results speak for themselves, our neighbors even commenting on how well behaved our dog is now. Earlier this year welcomed a dog into our family with the hopes of training our new pup to eventually become a service dog for our son on the autism spectrum or at the very least to be a highly trained companion for our young children. We extensively researched many trainers in the Nashville area and I made lots of phone calls. Ali and the team at Nashville K9 stood out as a leader in the field from the very first call. Ali talked me through, realistically, what it could take to train our dog to achieve the results we were hoping for. He was kind and thorough and what stood out to me the most was his honesty and integrity - he did not want to overpromise and sell me on possibly unrealistic results just to gain my business. He genuinely wanted us to succeed and be happy with our choice of Nashville K9. Through his honesty he opened a dialogue that proved to us the depths of his knowledge of canine behavior. Nashville K-9 is the best! I have two young labs (2 and 1.5) who did the 3-week program, and I am extremely impressed with the results. The facility itself is impressive, and all of the trainers were very friendly and clearly care about the dogs in their care. Ali, the owner, was very communicative throughout and has always been available for questions. I received updates twice weekly to see their progress. For the actual training - My older lab has been extremely fearful since I got her at 9 weeks. She loves other dogs but is terrified of other people and new things. She would refuse to keep walking if she saw something 50 feet away that she didn't like (a person, a car, a new sign in a yard, etc.). She would sit and not budge at all until we turned toward home. After training, she has visibly gained so much confidence and enjoys our walks. She is still watchful of everything (just her personality) but she doesn't refuse to go and simply keeps walking if another person or car, etc. comes by. She also learned so much and will show off all of her skills proudly. My younger lab is much more of a typical lab - happy, eager to please. However, she would pull quite a bit on her leash and would jump after birds, cats, etc. After training, she is so much better on walks and will look at the birds but knows she's not supposed to jump after them. She is also very proud to show off all of her skills. I may have resisted taking her to training if she was my only dog, because she's always been pretty good. But that would have been a mistake because she is much easier to walk now and so much happier with all of her new knowledge. Overall, I was hesitant to send them off to training because I was worried I would get "robot dogs" back, but this was not at all the case. They are 100% still their sweet, playful selves, but seem so much happier and confident because now they have "jobs to do". And taking them out for walks/runs and adventures is a million times easier! They truly love practicing all of their new skills and working with them is fun now instead of frustrating. We left our mixed-breed puppy, Tess, with Nashville K-9 for their two week board and train program. The amount of progress they can make with a dog in just two weeks is absolutely phenomenal. After the two week program, Tess was able to heel effectively on leash, do long "sits" and "downs" (in excess of 50 ft), kennel on command, place on command, and had been introduced to a few dog agility commands. When we took Tess in, she was in no way a "bad dog", she was actually a very good dog. As a result of her time at Nashville K-9, there's no doubt in my mind, however, that she's on her way to becoming an absolutely great dog. The facilities are clean and impeccably maintained. It's obvious that the staff generally enjoy working with dogs and educating their owners. When we first dropped Tess off, Ali personally took an hour of his incredibly busy day just to talk with me and my wife about his training philosophy and methods. When we picked Tess up, Damon (another exceptional trainer), spent about two hours showing us how to work with Tess once we got her home. Since we brought her home, we've been working with her using the commands and techniques Damon showed us, and it's been a real joy. No trainer can make a perfect dog in two weeks time, but the guys at Nashville K-9 worked so well with Tess, and with us, that they've given us a great foundation to build on going forward. Ali and his team at Nashville K-9 know what they're doing. You may think it's too expensive, or you may not be able to bear parting with your sweet pup for one of their board and train programs. Throw those thoughts out the window. While your dog is at Nashville K-9, they are getting wonderful treatment, great exercise, and hours of hands-on experience with some of the finest dog trainers around. After seeing what these guys can do in just two week's time, I would have paid more for the service without hesitation. There aren't enough compliments or stars on this page to give these guys.... I researched training facilities and independent trainers for almost a year before deciding on Nashville K-9. They pay attention to your concerns and make a training plan based on your needs....The one thing that stood out to me and really 'sealed the deal' is that they do not use e-collars or shock collars. Their training is 100% hard work and determination, and it shows. I have a rottweiler, Eli, who just basically got a little too big for his britches, haha. I had worked with him, socialized him, and felt I had done everything in my power to train him, but it just wasn't enough. He needed something more that was beyond my realm of knowledge. Ali and Damon, as well as the other staff members, are extremely professional and very knowledgeable. When I went to drop Eli off, Damon took me on a tour of the facility and told me a little about the facility, how big it is, what they do and what to expect. The facility is very clean and well kept. They do an amazing job of keeping you up to date on how your dog is doing and they send very high quality pictures to you every few days to show you how your dog is progressing. I sent Eli for a 4 week board and train and I will be the first to tell you those pictures HELPED! I missed my furbaby so much and I looked forward to seeing him in those pictures and reading about what he was learning and doing. On pick up day, we had about a 2 hour class where Damon outlined in detail the whole routine and explained and answered any questions we had. Then we went out and he personally showed us what they did and taught us how to continue with the training and transition at home. My fiance and I were completely blown away by the turn around Eli had made in just 4 weeks. All in all.....great facility, great trainers, and if you want world class results then this is absolutely the best choice in high quality training. Absolutely Amazing! We just picked up Macie, our 5 month old Rhodesian Ridgeback from Nashville K9. Macie was a highly energetic puppy who needed to be pointed in the right direction. Ali, Damon and the rest of the staff at Nashville K9 were the right direction. While researching trainers, I came across Nashville K9. When I contacted Ali, he was very patient, professional, knowledgeable and honest as to what they could do to help us get Macie started on the right foot. Impressed with Ali's demeanor, I signed up for the 4-week board and train. Prior to dropping her off, I again contacted Ali to see if I could come by and see the facility and meet him in person. Ali was more than accommodating and when I stopped by, I was even more impressed with the cleanliness, organization and space that each puppy has. As far as the training, While Macie still has her sweet personality, she is a completely different dog. First of all, she is much more attentive to us. She seems ready to "Go to work"...just yesterday, I intentionally sat her in front of a couple sitting on a park bench. After telling her to sit, I walked away (over 100'). Macie sat there like a statue with her eyes set on me. Unbelievable, especially from a RR!!! This is just one small example of the things she can now do. At the completion of her training, my fiancé and I were able to meet with Damon. He took us through the training routine and showed us what we needed to do to continue to build on her solid foundation. I cannot recommend Ali, Damon and Nashville K9 enough. They are truly an awesome organization. Being in the military, I will not always be in Nashville, but I can say with absolute certainty that even if we have to travel across the country, our dogs will always train with Nashville K9! Ali and his team are phenomenal, and I highly recommend them. They are the best, and worth every penny. I was having trouble with my 9 month old french bulldog with obedience and potty training. I did the 4 week session, and I noticed an immediate difference when I first saw him. I saw a big difference in just a week of having him back. He doesn't tug on his leash or bark at random people or dogs anymore.I am so happy with the results. He is still the fun loving puppy but with obedience which I love. I also loved how they gave me his training routine so that I could stay on top of things, and I think that's what has helped him the most to acclimate back to his home. Everyone that knew my dog before noticed a huge contrast in him after his training, and they were very impressed. The facilities are amazing. The indoor training center and training field are top notch. One of the best parts was getting pictures of his training on Saturdays and Tuesdays. It reassured me that I had done the right thing. Seeing him so happy and learning so much from the incredible staff made me less anxious of being away from him. Plus, the photos are high-quality and now I use one of those as my phone lock screen. Ali was such a pleasure to work with and made me feel at ease when I dropped my dog off. He definitely knows what he's doing. The staff was amazing as well. When I went to pick him up after the 4 weeks, I had to do a training session with Damon to learn about all that he had learned. You could tell how much my dog loved Damon. He was so great and answered all my questions. Even when I had questions after I had left, Damon still answered all my questions through email which was great and very helpful. I took my 4-year-old dog, Baxter, to Nashville K-9 after rescuing him in January. He had aggression toward strangers that, as a non-professional, I knew I shouldn't handle myself. His instinct was to bite at the stranger, after which he'd immediately want to be best friends with them. I know, completely weird. Truth be told, I had so much anxiety about this behavior because it was erratic. I also felt bad that Baxter himself was so filled with anxiety and fear when meeting strangers. Needless to say, I didn't know where to start. When I looked around for the right spot, I was drawn to Nashville K-9 because of its comprehensive approach. It's extremely clear that this is a long-term life solution, rather than a band-aid one. I signed Baxter up for the 4-week board and train. This is definitely a pricey option, but the behavior was serious and the margin of error so small. I immediately knew everything would be a-okay when Baxter immediately became best friends with Damon on the spot - definitely a first! By the end of the 4 weeks (and countless check-in pictures), I couldn't believe everything Baxter knew: sit, down, leash walking, and even how to stand on his hind legs! More than that, he was comfortable with being commanded by his pack leader, which I've learned is the key to being calm around strangers. Since then (picked him up on April 6), Baxter is doing great. I continue to work with him at home twice a day (consistency is essential!), and he hasn't had any issues with new friends coming over to the house. He still gets tense around bikers and big rambunctious dogs, but Damon taught me exactly how I should act in these situations. Long story even longer, I would do this again in a heartbeat. Baxter is happier and less tense, I have less anxiety, and we have a closer, more trusting relationship. Can't thank Nashville K-9 enough! read more

We've been large breed dog owners for over 20 years and have worked with many trainers. Recently we found ourselves at our wits end with our new dog, as his personality really tested us. We knew the issues with Winston were not because of him, but because of us, and realized we needed help. Doing our research and talking with trainers, we kept coming back to Ali Hemyari and his team at Nashville K-9. From the beginning, Nashville K-9 was responsive and spent considerable time discussing our challenges, expectations, etc. as well as what their approach methodology looks like and what we should expect. The level of dedication and commitment to not just dog training and obedience, but to their own personal passion of dogs in their life is much higher than the many retailer training programs available. The latter was evident when we visited Nashville K-9 and experienced a facility which is 2nd to none. Nashville K-9 has setup an environment designed to provide many different training situations. As to the kennels, they are the largest and cleanliest we've ever experienced. It's impressive how well clean everything is kept. During the program for Winston, we were kept up to date weekly with progress - which included pictures and videos of his training. He proved to use that clearly, he wasn't the issue, we were. Upon picking up, Ali and the team spent nearly 2 hours with us going through in detail some of the science behind the training, which included great online videos, and then we hit their indoor training field with Raine for our 1-on-1 lessons with Winston. I sent my 1 year old German Shepard/Husky mix to the 4 week training program, and really cannot say enough good things Nashville K-9. From start to finish, they are professional, passionate, and committed to the work they do. I was nervous about dropping my dog (literally fur child) off for a month with people I didn't know, but Ali and his team instantly made me feel like Finn was in good hands. The facility is absolutely beautiful, clean, and in tip-top condition-- I'm talking puppy resort status, here. They walk you through the entire place when dropping your little buddy off, and allow you to ask as many questions as you need- for me it was a lot. It was very comforting to hear what your dog would be doing day in and day out. They are knowledgeable, and dedicated to their plan and really make you understand the principals behind their training methods. During the course of the 4 weeks you get updates 2x a week, which consist of pictures and an email stating how your pup is doing. And finally, when the day comes to bring them home, one of the staff members schedules about a 2 hour training session with you and your dog. This essentially breaks down everything he/she has learned over the course of their training and teaches you how to continue their education in the home-- it is great and will prep you and ensure you know everything you need! Plus to get to be super proud and watch how smart your little bud has gotten. If you are on the fence on whether or not to take your dog to Nashville K-9, I can full heatedly say you will not be disappointed. Finn came out a very less anxious, well mannered, perfect companion-- but even more he did not lose any of the sweet personally i loved most about him. If you are considering Nashville K-9, stop considering -- and just book it. It will be worth every penny, no matter whether you have the most ill-behaved dog of all time, or are just looking for best-in-class training to get your rambunctious pup back in line. We brought our six-month-old Greater Swiss Mountain Dog to Nashville K-9 with the hopes of getting a strong foundation of training in place. What we ended up getting was so much more -- training that far exceeded the baseline and all our expectations. In short, we dropped off an oversized puppy who liked to drag us down the street and refused to stay put in the house; and in two weeks, we brought home a mature, obedient dog who perfectly heels on the leash, sits and lays down until you tell him to get up, and has mastered all fears of new surfaces or heights. But that's not even the best part. We were also trained in how to continue the training, and completely educated on the best way to establish a clear pack structure and set our dog up for obedience and happiness. Because let's be honest, folks; it's the human that determines the dog's long-term success, and humans need to be trained too. And did I mention the trainers, the grounds, the facilities? These trainers are absolute pros, experienced in a range of training methodologies and grounded in years and years of successful results -- guaranteeing the training for life. The place is clean, spacious, and impressive, with both indoor and outdoor training set-ups. We got photos all along the way to see how our dog was progressing, confirming day in and day out that we made the right decision. How to sum it up? Our 7 month old goldendoodle, Maggie, has been home from camp for one week. I originally contacted Ali because of her jumping and excessive leash pulling. My Mother watches Maggie while I'm at work and I needed Maggie to improve specifically in these two areas. Ali, Damon, and all the staff were incredible during the four weeks, sending lots of pictures twice a week to assure me that Maggie was enjoying her time with them. When I brought her home, I was so impressed with how Maggie had progressed during her 28-day stay at NK9. They truly lived up to their reputation! They taught us and Maggie so much and she came home with amazing agility training skills to top it off! Plus, she loves her kennel! She still has her sweet personality and high energy level, but she has the training to understand what we expect in all areas and the crew at NK9 taught us how to easily maintain what they taught Maggie. Today, we took Maggie to a public festival for the first time. I wasn't sure what to expect, since it was a new environment and her training shined through! She didn't jump on anyone, not one single time, and she greeted other dogs graciously by sitting when she met them (rather than jumping, paws up like she used to). She also sat patiently as I chatted with friends. I was confident a week ago that Nashville K-9 was a first class facility that was worth every penny, but today drove home the reason that I chose the best training team in Nashville. The staff is not only confident, but they loved on Maggie for those 28 days and gave me back a companion that I feel comfortable taking anywhere. My partner and I rescued our anxious little JRT mix from a hoarding situation on August 1. By Aug 9, we knew we had do something because she was barking up a storm and busting out of her kennel while we were at work. We called up a few places asking about training, and when we compared prices, our eyes widened at K-9's. But let me tell you, if you've truly got a puppy problem, you should strongly consider K-9. We knew we wanted to keep our dog Lala, and we did the math. The money we would have spent on anti-anxiety meds, the cost replacing kennels, furniture, clothes, doggy day care, and not to mention the time we would have needed to spend at home to calm the dog ADDED UP TO PENNIES compared to the cost of a 2-week K-9 course. (There's also a 4-week option, and you can always decide to extend a 2-week into a 4-week course if needed. Ali, K-9's founder, was wonderfully accommodating.) Even before the 2-week training course, we spoke over the phone with Ali about our concerns--financial and otherwise--and I was surprised and grateful that Ali gave us training advice before we'd paid him a nickel! I could not be happier with the excellent results that I saw in my dog from Nashville K-9! I was looking for somewhere to send Fitz, my Bernese Mountain Dog puppy, as he was getting much too strong for me to fight on a leash and with everyday obedience issues.
