I have a 11 month old dog that was perhaps abused in some sort of way at her other houses. she has been already to 4 homes, us being her 5th. because of this she is very skittish and scared. the workers helped us throughout the store and helped us find things good for my dog and suggested things in our price range we mentioned we had. pricing is a bit high, but I understand because it's not easy to get things like elk and deer. and that's what we were looking for, for some things for her to chew on. once again.. the worker we had was very nice and even was patient with my dog and made sure she felt comfortable and safe before taking action at her. my dog to my surprise was nice with him and did really well. totally recommend bringing your pets here. read more

I've been coming here over the past 5 years. Unlike most other stores, this one keeps getting better. There are always great products for our pets but they always have something new to try. I love it! Customer service is amazing! You are always greeted, offered help/assistance and you're never in line longer that few minutes. I have two aquariums at home and keeping them clean and my fish healthy is a priority. They sell everything I need to keep the fish healthy and well fed. I also get my dogs treats and toys here on regular basis. They also carry the leash/collar we/our dog likes. My puppy seems to love Lamb Chop more than the other 100+ toys he has. So every few months we have to get a new one. So glad that they always have one. I absolutely love this store! read more

But Petco happily let us exchange the opened bay for the right one and the guy who helped us was quite informative and empathetic to the health challenges our puppy is having. So I normally don't leave reviews but I feel that people should know my experience with returning a filter that was unopened and bought just a few days ago. I went to this Petco to return a filter today and I was told by the employee that they cannot accept online returns unless it was purchased at their store. I then asked the employee if this was all owned by one Petco company and he said yes. So I asked him then what's the problem with taking back this return. The filter was unopened originally purchased on a Saturday and it is now Monday. He then proceeded to tell me that their store does not accept online returns unless it is from their store and that's their store policy. I was told to drive all the way down to Escondido to make the return. When I got to the Escondido Petco, I asked the employee at the front desk if they accept returns from other stores that was purchased online and his answer was yes. The Petco in Carlsbad off Montebello is shady. I knew from the get-go that they can accept returns. They just don't want returns in their books because it goes into their inventory. Horrible customer service,I went to this location today to pickup my online purchase and since I was there i decided to purchase some cat foods , sign said buy 10 get 2 free so I picked 24to get 4 for free , at the register cashier name Chris helped me out and I asked if I got the 4 for free and he said yes , after paying I looked at my receipt and not that I didn't get any can for free also I got overcharged for 26 cans instead of 24 so i showed him the receipt and he tried to act stupid and telling me the deal is only for certain flavors without even checking the sign then he called his manager because he couldn't even take care of an easy overcharged, manager came and I don't know the name and he took 30 minutes to return all the 24 cans and not the 26 that I got overcharged for to charge me back , such a waste of time after waiting all that time for having an slow computer I told him many times that he is not returning 26 cans and he is only returning 24 , he still didn't listen to me and I just got mad for all that time wasting there and left $7 short of being overcharged and taking my time to stand there for their mistake. Now I'm home and looking at my receipt and realizing he even charged me more and I'm too done to go there again. Very disappointed with the lack of customer service in the grooming department. They have just one female worker for ALL the appointments. She was not very kind when we had a miscommunication over a payment. Once it was settled she continued to tell us that she would no longer service our dog. lol It was borderline comical . I do not recommend Petco for grooming if you want a more open schedule and an opportunity to have different groomers. read more

Today I ordered my dog a Halloween costume at 9am. Around 4pm I called because it said my order wasn't ready. They had a system error that caused them to charge my card twice and also not register my order. I had to go through receiving a refund. Things happen no worries. Here and online their hours say they close at 9pm. I drove 25 min and got there at 8:26 to find out they close at 8pm. Myself and 3 other guests were surprised to find out because the hours aren't accurately represented online. Please update your systems and your hours of operation. read more

The only reason I gave this two stars was because of the wonderful girl upfront that finally helped me. I walked into the store and asked several people to help me find a certain dog food. One of the employees didn't even know if they carried it and it's a pretty common brand.he did not help me. Another one said that she was off the clock. I finally approached a third guy who was very reluctant to help me. I asked him several questions, and he seemed very bothered. I feel every time I come into the store that people are bothered with my questions and I have decided to go to Petsmart instead. Very hard to deal with. Went with my 9yo. They wouldn't sell me a $0.39 goldfish because I only had a 10G tank and one goldfish already. They were overly concerned about the fishes health and future size. They told me they could not in good conscious sell me a fish. My daughter was devastated. Turns out that they WILL sell you goldfish as feeder fish though with no questions. So you can buy a goldfish as food, but not for a second fish in a 10G tank., they are too worried about it's health. What a BS stance. Never shopping here again. What happened to just buying a fish anymore? I guess I'm off to buy an 80G tank and put a single guppy in it just in case it grows in 5 years.... read more

Customer service is lacking here. Manager asking people to pull up their masks, I needed to return some items that were purchased at a different location. I was in the area and knew it was possible. The manager told me that it was very "inconvenient" and I should take them back to the original store. Unfortunately, I dropped my dog Poe off to get a bath and nail clippings. When I picked him up, everything seemed fine. Besides the fact he was severely thirsty and hot. I got home and noticed a huge slice in his paw- where the nail clippers missed and hit him. I understand accidents happen, however no one told me. I called and they said they didn't know- which is obviously not true because my dog would of cried out. If there was honesty and responsibility I would of forgave them. However, being lied to after hurting my dog does not sit well with me. I did receive a call from a very nice and concerned manager named Erin, she offered to pay for the vet bill etc. I told her I just didn't appreciate being lied to and would like some responsibility from the groomer( who was honestly super nice). I never heard back, so in the meantime I am keeping my dogs paw clean and not going back to Petco. I have heard of other stories somewhat similar, I will be contacting corporate. Shop local. We came here to stock up on food and supplies for our cat. We have been a little frustrated with the lack of inventory at the Bressi Ranch Unleashed location. Over the past few months, we have not been able to stock up on the canned foods my beloved cat loves. Thankfully, this parent store to Unleashed, Petco was able to deliver. We like to buy months worth of food for our fur baby and they had a ton of the canned food and the flavors he enjoys. Our cat is 15+ years old so he takes Adult 7+ years food and Jared helped us get as many cases he could find which was a great help! Thank you! read more

Contacted customer service online yesterday as I wasn't seeing my dog food credits on my account. Online rep basically said adios. The manager refused to sell a goldfish for three year old. Saying that the tank was not big enough. So I offered to buy a larger tank... And the manager said she would not sell me a goldfish and a tank but I would have to buy a tank and kit and then come back five days later after the water was suitable to put fish in and then get the fish. She made the process extremely difficult even after I have purchased a 3 gallon tank and filtration system at the store in the past. She says that a fish requires a tank that has 2 gallons for every inch of fish length... But in their store they have about 100 goldfish in a 20 gallon tank it's absolutely absurd. While I was there she then sold 30 goldfish to a guy who was going to feed them to a turtle. Lots of attitude And now I have to go to a different store to find a goldfish for my three-year-old. The goldfish cost $.29. I was offering to buy a $50 tank to make her happy and she still wouldn't do it. read more

It's always nearly impossible to walk through the store because they have so many stock carts sitting in the aisles. I just was there getting cat litter & the cart I had was giving me trouble with steering, and I had to make a huge circle around the store, since everything is so blocked, and then as I was struggling to turn the cart an employee laughed/snickered at me struggling before asking if I needed help. I've been taking my dog to the adult training with Lindley for about two months now and she has drastically changed our lives! I was skeptical that my dog was even trainable because i got him as an adult and he's extremely stubborn... now he knows about 10 commands and learns more every week! Lindley is so patient, accommodating, and kind, she has been an integral part of our success in training. It's to the point where my dog is devastated if we have to miss a class! Everyone at this PetCo has been so great, including the grooming service (for which my dog is also a difficult client, shout out to Keely, sorry about last week). But the point is, Lindley is amazing and all of her poodles are adorable, she's extremely talented and i highly recommend her classes! read more

I AM that "Crazy Cat Lady" And even Crazier "Completely Obsessed With my Horse" Lady (I WISH Petco carried ANYTHING Horse because I would probably get a job there) and Petco seems to be going to the "more natural AND healthy" foods that just makes it that much better! The only reason I chose to come to this Petco grooming, was because my local Petco was fully booked before the holidays. Usually I take my puppy to the Petco in Oceanside and they do a wonderful job, I've never had any problems. I decided to take him to this Petco and I'm never coming back again. The customer service in the grooming department needs proper training in how to talk to customers. I told them I wanted a "Teddy Bear Cut" on my mini golden doodle. Nevertheless, he came out looking like a street rat. He was cut way too short and he did not have a teddy bear cut at all. Not only that but they also didn't cut my 9 month old's nails properly. I noticed right after picking him up that one of them was split in half!!! Never coming here again, overall experience was terrible. read more

If there was the ability to give 0 it would be 0. It has now not been once but three times that I have been in there with the worst customer service ever. Shannan should be FIRED!! Worst dog trainer and customer service individual EVER. It's not just what she said or says but her attitude. She accused us of being aggressive with our dog as we had just put on one of their choke collars to try it out and the dog literally gagged. So yes the dog gagged but obviously wasn't use to the collar and I had pulled on it as she went the opposite direction. On another occasion, she very rudely told me I gave my dog two commands instead of one. Again it wasn't what she said as much as the attitude. Had she put it in a different positive manner I would have taken it differently. The other team members are a thousand times better. If they got rid of her I am sure the store would do much better and have repeat customers. read more

Do your OWN research before going there and do not ask them for advice on what to get for your pet and how to care for your pet. I have spoken to 4 employees and none knew what they were talking about. I was sold the wrong sized tank, wrong food and wrong bedding for my pet. The bedding I was given actually causes respiratory illnesses in small pets. The people are rude and are of no help. The store is great to find accessories and food but make sure you know what you need and do not ask them. read more

I drove a 94 yo friend to Petco to get a rabies vaccine for her dog through the Vetco service. It was scheduled by calling Petco. She was not not told to bring the record of the previous vaccine. We were there for over an hour sitting on a pile of boxes, there were no chairs to sit on. The intake process was long, as employees entered each pet information into a handheld tablet, not in the order of arrival. This could have easily done at home and saved discomfort and time for all involved. This might already been available but we were not directed to this option when we scheduled. In spite of getting a 3 year vaccine, because the record of the last vaccine was not brought, the certificate notes that the vaccine is good for only a year. It was a miserable experience that could have been avoided easily. read more

Went in to find a calming thunder vest for my dog and wandered the store for 15 minutes trying to find an employee to help me. The guy at the register was swamped with a long line. I had to pop my head in the managers office, three employees were in there talking about getting McDonald's for lunch. I told Chelsea who I believe was the manager that I was looking for help for 15 minutes. She just said ok, gave me a dirty look & didn't apologize. Not very customer service oriented.
