Stopped by today to get treats for my dog Nala and Yaqui, everyone is was so nice and helpful. Always find what I'm looking for and like to watch the animals on the way out. The store is being remodeled and they will be adding a vet which is great! One stop for all of my pets needs. I come by every 3 months for grooming and I love how attentive the staff is there as well. We stick to the same groomer, Diana. Both Nala and Yaqui always come out looking and smelling great. I always buy my pet food here for my cat and two dogs and even have had my dog groomed there as well. I am always greeted on the floor whether if I am just running in real quick to buy a bag of food or browsing the isles, someone always asks if I need any help. They even let you use expired coupons! Went and found the exact same perch, took it to the register and the girl at the register wouldn't honor the price. Grooming at petco. Avoid Jeovana at all cost, she gave me the worst Customer service I've ever had. She sadly and unprofessionally brought her emotions and bad attitude to work. She rolled her eyes and gave me attitude this morning while dropping off my dog to get a 54 dollar grooming. Ask for Vanessa or Michelle the supervisor to do your grooming. I spoke to michelle her supervisor and I hope she corrected the matter. When I went to pick up my dog Jeovana gave me the worst stink eyes so sadly if she was told, she was not happy. I have an Airedale Terrier and I needed a groomer in Otay for this particular grooming for my dog. I know for a fact not many people have experience in grooming this particular breed so I called and had a long talk with the groomer about her experience in grooming. She assured me that she knew how to groom Airedale's and had gone to school to learn how to. So I put my full trust in her due to her reassurance. I took my dog there and I picked her up four hours later. I have never had a problem with any grooming my dog has received. This was seriously the worst hair cut my dog has ever had. Her hair is uneven everywhere!! She shaved my dogs head so close to the skin that my dog has a red mark from getting knicked. I would never recommend Petco for dog grooming. Wost idea ever!! I came here initially to groom my little dog because it was convenient. Now, four years later I still use them as I see that with the PETCO discount, their prices for a full service groom, bath, etc are fairly reasonable. Each time My wife and I come in the store, the groomers always remember us and give us warm greetings, asking us also how our little dog (Schotzen) is doing. It must be the unique name but everyone in the back there seems to know her quite well. Of course it helps that she's a very friendly little dog who doesn't fight, bark, nip, kick, scratch, bite or claw when being shaved and bathed. These type tendencies would seem to make everyone's job there that much harder. The store is clean and well kept though the prices for the same or similar items are 'expectedly' more than at a big box store. They have a nice variety of merchandise and I always find myself here when I'm seriously looking for good quality pet items. Overall I'm quite pleased with the service, friendliness of the staff and ability to buy what I need. read more

So Petco has this great free 30 minute program called "Puppy Playtime" where you can take your puppy to play and socialize with other pups. Well, one Sunday I called in advance and asked if they were going to have Puppy Playtime that day. The employee I spoke to over the phone checked the calendar and confirmed with me it would be at 5pm. With this in mind, I rushed home after work to pick my puppy up so he could make some friends. When I arrived at the Petco just a few minutes before Puppy Playtime was scheduled to start, I noticed there wasn't anyone in the training area yet, not even a trainer who usually monitors the Puppy Playtimes. So as I went to confirm with the employees at the registers, they told me to check the calendar near the entrance to see if any playtime was scheduled, which did announce so. I was then informed that the trainer who holds the Puppy Playtimes left early, despite it publicly stating they were holding Puppy Playtime at 5pm, like they supposedly do every Sunday. So basically, I drove all the way over there, in a rush to get there after work, for absolutely nothing! I went home with an energized puppy ready to play with some other pups, and I'm sure I was just a disappointed as he was. P.S. The first time I called to see when they held Puppy Playtimes, I spoke to a trainer and they let me know they hold them every Sunday at 5pm, but most times people don't even show up and the way she said it was in a "you shouldn't even bother coming" tone. So with that in mind, I'm pretty sure that's why she left early. read more

Had a friend drip off her bird that she only had for a week which she purchased from there & they lied & said that they performed surgery & that "that bird died" & thats exactly how they said it. So inhumane & horrible. Came here over the weekend to buy some fish supplies for my kids fair prize goldfish. After I picked up my fish supplies I took my 3 yo daughter to go look at the fish and to my horror 5 of the tanks yes 5 had dead fish in it! Seriously petco!! My daughter noticed one of the dead fish at the bottom of the tank and I had to tell her it was sleeping. I didn't think too much of 1 dead fish but as I kept looking almost every tank had dead fish in it. Very sad to see. I would not recommend buying fish from this place. read more

Even when there is something that has not been done to my liking, they instantly take him to the back and fix whatever needs to be done without hesitation. I've been shopping at the Petco in Eastlake for ten years and it's been mediocre to satisfactory since I usually don't need help to find what I need, and mostly I just buy crickets anyways. Well lately we've seen a bunch of new employees and have been treated rudely. The first instance, I sent my daughter into the store to buy FOUR CRICKETS which should have taken a FEW MINUTES. It was 8:30ish pm and we had to shop at Trader Joe's too. TWENTY MINUTES later, she returned to the car with the crickets and we asked what took so long. She said she paid the cashier for the crickets and was then told to STEP ASIDE WHILE SHE WAITED ON OTHER CUSTOMERS! If this had happened to me, I would have politely told the employee that I was not willing to wait for her while she helped other customers before getting my crickets. However this was my inexperienced daughter who obediently waited FIFTEEN MINUTES while this RUDE CLERK on a POWER TRIP helped other MORE IMPORTANT CUSTOMERS!!! This scenario totally ruined our trip to Trader Joe's since the stores close at 9:00. When I called the IMPOTENT MANAGER to complain, he only asked which clerk it was and he didn't apologize or try to make amends in any way and it seemed as if he couldn't care less. A couple of weeks later we had to return a bunch of stuff; it was about a dozen things. So the young woman (a different one) was doing an excellent job, carefully highlighting each item on the receipt as she worked. She was almost done when another woman who seemed to be in a supervisory role, all of a sudden rushed over and said breathlessly that they had to change registers right in the middle of my transaction! Why? Apparently there were MUCH MORE IMPORTANT CUSTOMERS TO WAIT ON!!! I did gently protest by politely saying that the cashier was almost done (just two items left to return). She insisted on doing it anyways and so the supervisor lady switched registers with the clerk without a word being said between them as to what was left to do for me! The lady finished up the returns (or so I thought), returned all the money to the credit card when $80 was supposed to be returned in cash; she COULDN'T EVEN FIND THE TIME to do THAT PROPERLY because she was in SUCH A HURRY TO GET RID OF ME. With all of this INTRUSION AND CONFUSION CAUSED BY THE SUPERVISOR and with her RUDELY RUSHING ME OUT so she could attend to her MORE IMPORTANT CUSTOMERS, I also forgot to ask for my crickets which I had told the first clerk about but she had wanted to do the returns first. So I got to the car and was checking the receipt and noticed that I had not been returned the complete amount: IT WAS SHORT $25! So I had to GO BACK IN THE STORE and point out the litter box which had been taken out of the cart and set aside in the store by her or the first clerk but NOT CREDITED to me. This probably happened when the second lady BARGED in, COMMANDEERED the transaction and DIDN'T BOTHER TO ASK THE FIRST CASHIER what stage she was at. She just took over LIKE SHE OWNED the store, didn't give a damn about anything except GETTING RID OF ME ASAP so she could hurry up and help other MORE IMPORTANT CLIENTS THAN ME, and SCREWED UP THE ENTIRE TRANSACTION IN EVERY WAY POSSIBLE: she didn't return the money correctly; she didn't credit me for all the items I returned which meant I had to return to the store to straighten out HER MISTAKE for which she DID NOT APOLOGIZE, and to top it off I forgot the crickets. All when the FIRST CLERK was HANDLING EVERYTHING PERFECTLY and there were only two things left to return, so tops she would have been JUST A COUPLE OF MINUTES MORE WITH ME to FINISH THE JOB PROPERLY. Also, don't buy meal worms there because they are always dead. Plus, their rewards program is worthless as I have NEVER received my rebates. I've called multiple times about this, spending at least thirty minutes each time on the phone with them trying to make it work, but apparently it's an insurmountable problem unable to be resolved by anyone because even though they have the right email address, I never receive them and no they don't go to junk mail either. I finally just gave up on that. Of course the ads work perfectly because I do get those all the time. I probably wouldn't have gone to the trouble of writing a bad review about the first incident even though it's more egregious because it was done with malice by an employee on a power trip; but after the second incident, which just seems to be pure ineptitude and incompetence, I am aggravated enough to write about it. read more

I took my dog to the VET and She was very rude I do not know the Vets name but she doesn't know how to talk to customers. She was upset because I did not want to neuter my dog. I continued to explain to her after the third time telling her I did not want to do that, that I would not continue to explain this to her. I basically told her 4/5 times this is not what I wanted to do and she seemed to be bothered by MY DECISION WITH MY DOG...mind you I was there for my dog's ear infection not to talk about him getting fixed. Even though they had my dog back there he was not treated for his ear infection, the main focus was to get him fixed. My dog violently shakes his head every 5 mins so I'm sure they witness this act, so I had to pick him up bring him find a home remedy and wait for his next appointment at a real vet clinic. I'm in the medical field and to you're never suppose to have your own opinion or judgments get in the way of treating a patient. Please save your money and do no go to this location, she needs to be taught people skills rude B!$@)! read more

Ok...I hate writing this review because I know that I am going to get jammed on getting an appointment with this groomer. Cheree...I am calling the manager of the store tomorrow and going to be singing your praises. We have two REALLY high-maintenance dogs - both griffs, one was melted down at a previous groomer and the vet bill was over $600. The other we have is from a puppy mill (not a backyard breeder....this girl is a true bitch that was just there to make puppies - never saw a kind hand, the inside of a house or a person that would be decent to her in 3 years). So we're a little wierd about taking our dogs to a groomer - they cannot be put in a kennel to dry...they have to ev serioulsy attended to. So...we go in at 7 a.m. and drop them off and we are seriously freaked. Cheree assures us everything will be fine. Griffs are rare and she asks what kind of cut we want - breed cut of course and we leave them after being reassured a thousand times. First let me say - She cut both of our guys and they look the best they have EVER looked in 8 years of being groomed. Ever. She said she didn't have much experience in doing a breed cut but they look AWESOME. We taken them places and you can see the razor cuts all over them - and both of them look completely blended and smooth. Neither one of them were stressed either. One of them has been so stressed in the past that we had to give him valium and he wasn't breathing (blue) . Cheree was awesome at her job and keeping both of them calm. We are sooo bringing them back to her - and only her. It's an awesome thing when you can trust someone with your family (our dogs are our second set of kids at this point - ours are up and grown). We really want to put a wooooo-hooooo out for Cheree - she totally deserves it. read more

I've been going here ever since this place opened. This is one of the bigger Petcos I've ever been to. I used to go here for a variety of pets that I had over the years. This would include dogs, fishes, hamsters, and chinchillas. Employees are always helpful and could easily point you in the right direction if you're looking for something specific. I usually find something here that I don't find at petsmart or smaller pet stores. Maybe I'm just looking for something different after looking at the same things at the same stores I've been to (if that even makes any sense). read more

My friend and I visited this Petco on Tuesday September 8, 2020 with the hopes of purchasing a fish. After finding one, we walked up to the register and were asked if we had found everything okay to which we replied with yes. The next question we were asked was if we were 18, we replied with no as we are 16. The cashier who was checking us out was rude and had a tone in her voice after we said no. She recommended we call a parent to have us check out and said that Petco's policy is that you must be 18 years or older to purchase a live animal. This would have been helpful if mentioned at the beginning of the transaction. A sign by the fish also would have been helpful as we would not have wasted our time looking. I find it quite ridiculous that a 16 year old can drive and have responsibilities such as these but not purchase a fish in hopes of finding it a new home. Grooming: the girls there are amazing. They spoiled my dog so much with treats. For my dog, baths are usually a nightmare so I was really worried she was going to act up. When I picked her up she was happy and calm. Carmen was so sweet, knew exactly what my dog needed to look and stay clean. The price was higher than expected but the work and time were well worth it. I had been taking my pup here for grooming and after my last experience felt I had to write this review to warn others. I called a few days after taking my pup in because she was showing signs of an ear infection and felt they needed to be responsible for their negligence. I spoke to the Grooming Manager, Lisette. She was so RUDE and became argumentative with me over the phone. First she contradicted what she said then told me I should have called back immediately on the day of grooming. Well everyone knows an ear infection doesn't occur in 5 minutes, it takes a few days to develop. I felt she was so immature and unprofessional I asked to speak with the Store Manager, Erica. She was just as bad. We put our pets safety in their hands and then they don't want to take responsibility for their negligence. I used to go to this store for food, toys for my pet and grooming......Needless to say I won't be returning here anymore. I had to rate them at least one star, otherwise I would have rated them a negative 4 stars. read more

Bought stuff for our pup here and got home to find they didn't put one of our items in our bag. Called to check and lady was rude from the start. Told her I wasn't sure when I could come back as I'm not from this area. Ended up driving back same night to return another item that didn't fit and item that was forgotten. Manager was rude never even acknowledging me. I paid debit and cashier said could be cash and processed when I realized he didn't credit correct amount. Manager came to "help" said couldn't be given in cash. So I got part cash since first return was already processed and ended up getting a store credit of a whopping $2 I will NOT be back. Manager Joe obviously knew it could come back in cash since cashier already processed as such what was the big deal over $2 difference coming back cash as well? Worst grooming service ever!! They made my dog sick! After getting his haircut there, he had a big scab on his neck. I thought it would just go away, but within a couple of days he was bleeding all over and had huge sores on his neck! They refused to pay my vet bill or even refund my grooming fee! I have been coming to Petco for over three years for the grooming services. I have never had any problem, the grooming staff is always nice and professional but today I received some rudeness from the cashier, his name is Matt. I arrived half hour prior to my appointment and he was sitting there on the chair where the grooming is, after he went to the back he came back and said that the girl in charge was busy and it would take some time to come to the front and check in my pet, so I asked if he could do that instead and he replied that only the girl in charge could and that I was 30 minutes early anyway. Some times I have dropped my pet even an hour earlier of my apointment time and never had issues ir received rude attitude from any of the staff. And that is not the point anyway, I wouldn't be upset if he just simply told me to wait without giving me his absurd comment "well you are 30 minutes early anyway". This won't prevent me from coming back and Elsa, a new grooming staff member came to the front eventually and was very nice but I think they should be careful with the people they hire specially if they have to provide costumer service, Matt definitely has no experience or he just had no interest on my business. read more

I'm pretty upset about my experience... They never called me to let me know my dog Rascal was ready, I called them 3 times to only hear the ring for 5 minutes each time. Finally an hour later the told time I decided to go. They said they called twice but I know they didn't, my cell phone has caller ID.. Their excuse was they called but didn't hear anyone answer, they figured that if I saw the number I would know it's petco and know to come. There are also uneven areas around his body and some parts are red on his skin. They also tightened his collar and who knows how long it was like that before I noticed him struggling around with it and his neck being irritated. They also mentioned that because he gave off "warning bites" they didn't shave his face, I think they should've figured something out. And definetly should've answered the phone. I love my dog, it sucks to know that he was stuck in a kennel waiting for me and I should have been there and they didn't treat him the best of their ability. read more

I like going to this store. I have been going to this store for years now. I think most of the employees there are really nice and helpful. However, I recently had a not so good experience with the manager in charge, Julian. I had bought food and toys for my maltipoo online but my dog did not like the food. I went to the Eastlake store to return the food with all the backup necessary including receipts and emails from Petco.com. Julian was called to handle my return and he handled it very poorly. He lacks the basic customer service skills. He was not attentive, he was not positive, and lacked a smile. To make it worse, he was unable to refund my money back to my credit card because the receipts and emails from Petco.com were not good enough, yet that was all I was given from the company. To just get it over with, I asked if he could put the money on a gift card and he did. Still, I would have preferred to get it back on my credit card but at least we got to solve it. After this experience, I haven't gone back to the store. I probably will because it's a convenient location for me but I would just like for this review to be taken as constructive criticism with the objective to have Julian's attitude improved. read more

I was hesitant to bring my beagle here for a bath as I've been doing it at home since he was a pup. Recently I haven't had the time to give him a bath myself so I decided to bring him here, as some of my friends recommended this place. As soon as I walked in to Petco I noticed their grooming salon to my left. When I reached their counter I was greeted by a cheerful young woman. This was my first time ever bringing Goku (my beagle) to a grooming salon, and the young woman happily explained to me their process for dog baths. I like that they include a nail trim and ear cleaning with their dog baths, and I had no idea anal expressing existed! (which is included in the bath as well). Since they weren't busy at the time I walked in, the young woman (whom I think is named michelle) gladly took Goku in. All I needed was proof of Goku's rabies vaccinations and a 'Petco Pals Card' for Goku to be admitted into the salon. Michelle phoned Goku's vet and got the proof, which was very fast and very convenient! The pals card took only a minute to get me signed up, and I left Goku with michelle. I was called roughly 1 1/2 hours later, which was fast considering she estimated 2-3 hours for the service. (I guess it pays to go on a slow day huh?). I checked Goku all over to make sure michelle was true to her word, and he looked and smelled fantastic! His ears were clean, his nails were a bit shorter (which is fine as his nails are always short due to me taking him out to run), and his coat looked and smelled great! Michelle did a really great job with him, and it broke my hesitance towards bringing him to a grooming salon. Michelle recommended I bring Goku back in 3 to 4 weeks, which I will definitely do if I don't have the time to bathe him myself. All in all I was very satisfied with the service I was given. The employees seemed to get along well (I could see them laughing and having a good time through their HUGE windows), and I was given excellent customer service. Although the service is not cheap, I know I got my money's worth with the bath service. 5/5, I highly recommend this place! read more
