I have a cat that I love more than some of my family members. He gets the best food and pets. I don't have a dog. Petco is ok. The prices are higher than PetSupermarket but I tend to avoid both places because the convince of Publix a few doors down or the online monster that is Chewy.com So why would you choose Petco over Publix or online for basic food? I don't know honestly. Maybe if you have specific groom needs or your pet requires a special food. Publix probably has the brand of basic cat food you want. Would I come here again? Yes, but only for a toy for the cat's birthday but it doesn't matter because he'll just end up playing with the empty box instead. read more

I placed an online pick-up on thei Petco website as it allowed me to save 15% off $50 purchase or more. They sent an email when my order was ready, I waited briefly, before Alexander, the staff member at the front register, assisted me with carrying 80 pounds of cat litter to my car. I appreciate a friendly customer service, as well as the discount using the online ordering system. It was very easy to use, and quite affordable! This is a convenient and very reasonably priced feature of Petco. The staff is super friendly and helpful. I could no longer wash my dog outdoors due to the drop in Atlanta temperatures and found this great indoor self serve wash station. The store gives you a basket of folded towels, shampoo, a rubber brush, and a wrapped dog treat. The basin is very large and cleaned out. There are hot/cold control handles and a non slip Mat. There is a collar attached to the basin with a rubber suction on the metal tub, so it's effective in keeping the dog secure, but won't strangle them if they try to jump out. The shampoos smell good and they have different types for different skin. The blow dryer can scare the dog, but it gets the dog dry much quicker. Finally, there are sprays to give your dog a nice fresh, not too heavily scented, smell. This place is a Decatur gem, great alternative to your personal tub or the outdoors - and only $10! read more

I love love love Petco. I love the rewards program. Vital care ( I think the name recently changed ) I save every month on the 15 dollars I get back for each dog. I love how I am grandfathered in for nails and teeth for my dogs . While I was in Atlanta a few weeks ago I called in to complain about the Mansfield store in MA. I love that store but I was shocked when they black listed my little Gracie from getting her nails and teeth done. I understand that Gracie gets jumpy and squirms around but the manager for the salon was not willing to work with me. Jen the dog trainer is awesome as is Susan and one girl I don't remember her name but I love how helpful she is to me . I have her name written down some where ( it is a very different name.) and the Vet. Dr. Ash is a blessing from above but the grooming department could be more compassionate. I now take Gracie to Foxboro , MA at Patriot Place for nails and teeth but my heart is in Mansfield where the employees are so wonderful. I hope when I called in my complaint there was some follow up. When they told me Gracie couldn't go there any more I felt so rejected that they would work with me. Such as do a few nails over a weeks time until she got used to it. I was embarrassed and yet the Foxboro store ( who does not charge a fee for materials) as they call it was willing to take here weekly to work with me. When I told one of the girls I had Vital Care her answer was "well call and cancel it." Which is ironic because I tell every person I can in the store about how wonderful the program is and so worth the money. The last person to trim Gracie's nail there was in training and had some experience with Jack Russell's told me that when she finished her training she would take her. But yet the woman I last spoke to who rudely told me that they no longer allowed Gracie there told me the girl shouldn't have told me that. This was all done in the front of the store and not at at all quietly. That was why I was embarrassed and left the store crying! But for the rest of the Mansfield store, I say thank you and the Vet. department for accepting Gracie and always have a kind word!!! read more

HUEMANLIFE.ORG - Friendly staff and great place to bathe and dry your dog. The self-service prices have increased in the past year, but its still worth it for my larger dog. My smaller dog can be bathed in the tub at home but this is amazing for dogs that are more than 50 lbs. Although its provided, I bring my own towel and shampoo. The towels are too thin for me. I have a micro fiber towel that dries well but their towels can be use after I start with the mine. My shampoo is also thicker and better than the stuff they provide. I do use their conditioner though. read more

This store offers great customer service..especially to new dog owners. Yes, I did find out that I will never touch a "Bully Stick" ever again in my life. I also learned about different snacks, leashes, toys for the puppy. Everyone is really helpful. They also have a bathing area here for the dogs. It is $10, but with the $10, you get a basket with shampoo, a brush, and snacks for the dog. They provide aprons, conditioner, and a blow dryer in this area too. It is so worth it. read more

Website says they open at 9am. I came to the store at 10:15 only for an associate to come out and tell me they dont open until 10:30. ALL locations are listed as having a 9am open time. I travel a lot for work and this is the ONLY petco I've ever encountered that doesn't abide by the 9 am opening time advertised on their website. I brought my business to petsmart instead. read more

My rabbit had run out of food so after school, I decided to drive here and pick some up. I walked in and was greeted like normal but as I entered further I realized how small this Petco was. I immediately panic cause I drove 30 minutes to this location and I was so afraid they wouldn't have rabbit food. I look around for a bit until I find the "small animal section." It had nothing! A bit of bird food, toys, hay, and bedding. I ask a worker if that's all there was and she said yes. It was very frustrating! This is in no way the employees fault, they simply work there and have no say in the location or size of the location. If anything the employees were very nice. This is mostly aimed at corporate, why get a building so small?? It's a pet store and I go to buy pet food and there's none. Call it a mini Petco or something like Super Target does. The entire staff at the N. Decatur Petco are wonderful. Upon entering the store, my dog, Elsa, and I are always warmly greeted by a staff member. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and beyond helpful with finding any items I need. Store pick up is always a breeze. Over the last two months, my dog and I have attended weekly adult obedience classes with the store trainer, Adam, who is AMAZING! Adam is extremely knowledgeable, patient, and kind. Adam provides excellent training services to my pup and me! During all training sessions (individual and group), Adam provides individualized training to help all participants meet their training goals. Currently, I am working towards making Elsa a certified therapy dog (I am a mental health therapist) and Adam goes above and beyond to help my dog and I achieve this goal. Adam and the entire petco staff provide superior service to make all training and shopping experiences wonderful. I highly recommend Adam for all of your training needs. I signed up for a puppy class that was scheduled to start on Sunday, July 2. We arrived at the store early and announce that we were there for our pet training. The clerk kind of smirked and said that Tam was no longer there and had not been for a while. I signed up online. I even got an reminder by email stating that I had signed up for the class and just let me know the details imagine or surprise when we get there and there's no dog trainer in that location I'm furious, does Petco not have the wherewithal to reach out to customers and let them know their classes have been canceled. The classes are still listed on the website. So now I have to wait for three days to get my refund back, they certainly took my money fast enough when I signed up, and find a new class for my puppy. This is certainly not a professional way to do business. I wouldn't recommend Petco pet training to anyone anymore. read more

When I need holiday gifts for the furry buddies in my life, Petco is there to provide. They have a respectable amount of toys for felines and canines, along with food/treats and other animal supplies, all at decent prices. I think I like the self-service dog wash here best... mostly because it's the cheapest and cleanest of the ones in the area (sorry mom & pop stores...). $10 for the wash, comes with some treats for your pooch. The height of the stainless steel tubs are just right--don't need to get back pain from washing the dog. The only thing I wish was different is the drying station. The flimsy plastic table that was there does not support a dog more than 10 lbs very well (and is a little wobbly), and there isn't really a good way to secure the dog (e.g. from jumping off the table). If you don't use the table, then you are leaning over the dog on the ground, potentially in pretzel-like positions as s/he tries to escape. Know that there's conditioner and smelly sprays, along with extra towels on the corner table. But all in all, I like the dog wash. Been back at least 3 times now. read more

Vet at this location is cold and incompetent. I like Petco and I'm a regular customer. I came for their Vetco service to get 2 vaccinations. The vet (Megan) seemed really uninterested in her job...very matter of fact and rushed even though it wasn't busy...and did a terrible job of administering the vaccines. The rabies vaccine is a shot and she jabbed my dog once and made him yelp, then lost control of the syringe and had to pull it out and then jabbed him again. Not only did he squeal during the shot (a little pain is normal), but about a minute after the shot he just started screaming and wouldn't stop. I don't know if she hit a blood vessel or jabbed into his muscle, but I've never heard screaming like this after a shot and I've owned 6 dogs in my life. Then, when administering the bordatella vaccine (which is a liquid squirted into the mouth) she didn't bother to look where she was aiming and sprayed my dogs teeth so most of the vaccine bounced out onto the table. She just said, "don't worry, it's OK". What's OK about paying for a vaccine you didn't administer properly? As long as Megan is working at this store, I will never be back for another appointment. BTW, the store makes you sign a waiver on a tiny screen that you can't read. When I got home I checked the email that contained a copy of the waiver and it says, among other things: if you're a cat owner, the rabies shot can cause malignant tumors at the injection site. In other words, your cat can get cancer that spreads to its whole body. Since I have a dog, I suppose this doesn't matter, but it makes me wonder how good it can be for small dogs. So much for vaccine safety. read more

When I arrived, I was shocked that the dog grooming area was not cleaned. Since it was around 7 pm and my dogs had been running in the field and pastures of my family farm, they needed to be bathed. I left to allow the staff to clean the area. When I returned, the area was cleaner, but it wasn't what I was use to at another store. More than likely I will not be back to this location. read more

My mom was in town and we rescued a little hairless Chinese Crested dog, Lulu. We needed some supplies, and in particular, my mom wanted some dog clothes. We lucked out at this Petco as they had a ton of small dog clothes on clearance. Lulu is now the best dressed dog on the block.
