I stopped by with my friend on a leisurely stroll after eating at Le Petit Marché. They have so many great options for pet owners and animal lovers and it's an enjoyable experience just browsing through the store. The person at the counter was extremely friendly and engaged us in a lively conversation. My friend has a small dog and at the time I had two little kittens (now fully grown gremlins) and it was just such a pleasure to see a warm, friendly environment for pet owners when the usual contrast is a sterile, corporate pet store. There was even a shop cat lounging around that I got to give some scritches. I totally recommend stopping by if you're in the area! read more

I love this place! I cannot believe it has been 4-5 miles from me for this long and I have never been over there. We took the girls to get a bath yesterday and were just greeted by the nicest guy who work (maybe owns?) the place. He was so friendly - walked us through all their products/services and gave us very personalized service. They had 2 claw-foot tubs in the back - so we each grabbed one with a dog each and washed away. I didn't see a price posted - but turns out it was $12/dog. That is a great deal compared to some other places. And it's half price on Mondays! We also joined the frequent bather program so when we do 5 baths - the 6th one is free! Great deal! Because of the watering ban - we can't bathe them at home - so this works out great! The best part of our whole trip was seeing our dogs reactions to the 2 cats that live in the store. I swear Devon's eyes were going to pop out of her head - it was hilarious! (just to clarify - they just wanted to play with them!) I first went to Kirkwood Feed and Seed because it was across the street from where I lived, I was a brand new dog owner and I was scared to death. I keep coming back because of the great people that work here, the excellent dog foods, basic supplies, and half price dog wash tubs available on Mondays. They have a frequent purchase program for bags of food, pet grooming, and onsite adoption events. A great asset to the neighborhood. Bonus: Coffee shop next door! read more

Super-friendly neighborhood pet supply shop. They have a ton of specialty foods and treats, as well as toys, leashes, etc. The staff is extremely knowledgeable about feeding and training, so ask away! They also feature two tubs for self-serve dog washing. They have a cooler full of doggie ice cream treats, so my girl Molly knows going there is a good thing! The shop also sponsors free or reduced price vaccination drives, adoption days, etc. with local vets and rescue organizations. They truly are a neighborhood gem. read more

Great pet store in the Kirkwood neighborhood! I stopped by here the other day to buy some Frontline meds for the dogs and decided to take a look around the store. Great selection of holistic dog food and lots of super cute toys for mans best friend. It was also nice to see that they offer items for other types of animals as well like cats, ferrets and beta fish as well! There's also a dog wash in the back in one of those old school claw foot tubs! Customer service was fantastic and the highlight of the visit was meeting the most famous cat of Atlanta Magazine, Ginger; at the cash register! Can't speak highly enough of the groomers at Kirkwood Feed and Seed. Dottie, our 5 year old Boston, is extremely timid. And will bite strangers when they try to pick her up, which makes it very difficult for groomers since they have to pick the dog up to get her on a table. Fortunately, they figured Dottie calms down once she's in the tub. So that's where they trim her nails. It's slightly unconventional, but it works. The hubs and I ended up with a smelly dog after all the rain we've been having in Atlanta this summer. So we went on a hunt to find a place with a self-serve dog baths. Ended up in Kirkwood at this spot, which isn't too far from Decatur. The price is now $14 for DIY dog baths. Not too bad. I liked that there's a selection of shampoos to use on your pooch. They provide everything: shampoo, water, towels, blow dryer. You just do it yourself. The male owner was super nice, and offered our dog a treat after we were done. I think we'll be back again to wash our dog. Half off washes on Mondays! read more

Kirkwood Feed and Seed is great. It's right in the heart of Kirkwood village, and they even stock the Diatomaceous Earth Food Grade that I needed for the puppy I adopted that had parasites. The shopkeeper was very helpful and informed about the different products. We bought some treats, a cute dog card, and got the tea tree oil for the the antiseptic features for our dogs. It's simply great for organic alternative medicine for the dog. They have two self-serve clawfoot tubs to wash poochie yourself, but I don't know if they have stepping ladders like they do in Highland Pet Supply. They ALSO stock the non prescription (cheaper!) version of monthly flea/tick preventative and dewormers. Great place to check out! read more

Love this place! I'm pretty sure their self-serve dog wash, with its raised clawfoot tubs, built-in tethers, and handheld sprayers is the only reasonable way to wash my dear bundle of joy - and it's half-price on Mondays. Speaking of deals, when you buy nine bags of any of their all-natural, healthy pet foods, the tenth is free (or something along those lines - my numbers might be off). Better yet, they keep track for you, no punch-cards to lose. Plus, the owner and staff are super-knowledgeable and always at hand to help you figure out what your pet needs. Even the in-store cat is friendly and tolerant of invasive dog-sniffs. As long as I can continue to drag my dog through the door towards those dreaded tubs, we're loyal customers! read more

This is a very friendly hometown-type of pet store where you can also get your pooch bathed. They also offer vaccinations, I believe. We go there to stock up on organic pet food. We're always warmly greeted (and our pup usually gets a treat). Fred & Ginger, 2 sweet resident kitties, also work (or, more accurately lounge around) the shop. Banjo's first bath was a success! She smells all pretty. The $14 wash-and-dry-your-dog-in-our-tubs deal is fantastic if you have a medium to big pooch with lotsa hair. You wash, they clean out the drains. You get an apron, a towel and an assortment of shampoos and scrubby gloves. They also have a heat-less dryer that wicks the water off of your dog. Watch out for Sunday afternoons -- seems to be a popular time to bathe. read more

Even though KFAS didn't carry the new brand, Tom ordered it for us and now stocks it. Great service, excellent products...what more could you want? I love this place--my only regret is that it's not closer to my apartment (though, to be fair, it's not that far either). I brought my pup (a 7-8 month old pitbull mix) to get some new and better food, and we ended up spending an hour at the store! The owner was incredibly helpful and steered me toward the right kibble for my growing, high-energy boy. Plus, one of the employees volunteered to take my dog and play with him while I walked around, so I could be less distracted and really understand all of my choices. I ended up getting new food for my fatty cat as well! Speaking of cats, the two that "work" at Kirkwood are great--cute, friendly, and very used to dogs roaming around. They let my dog sniff around, but they weren't afraid to give him a little swat when he got too close! I can't wait to go back--what a lovely place! read more

Was new in town last year and needed a new feed store for my 3 yr old Aussi who has to eat a specific brand of food. Called around and the people at this store were unbelievably helpful! So nice to talk to and so eager to help. So I went in and they are even better in person! They didn't carry exactly what I needed at the time... But decided to carry it because I needed! WHAT?!?!? Yep. They started to carry it b/c I wanted it. Apparently they had it in the past but it didn't sell so they had stopped ordering it. Well they called it in and had it for me in just a few days. Now they are the only place I'll go. AND... every 10th bag is free! I can't say enough about them! read more

This place is fantastic. I don't have a dog, so I can't speak to those services, but the people who work here are super nice, the prices for the high quality food they have are reasonable, and I love the kitty who's always at the counter. They even have a special where once you buy 10 bags of food, you get the 11th for free. One time my cats were completely out of food, and I was trying to rush over there before they closed - I called and they stayed open for me just so I could get the food my kitties needed. Great neighborhood pet store. We love the bath deals and the food selections.

Good selection of high end pet food and the world's biggest Beatles fan behind the counter. Plus Fred and Ginger (Fred being the ginger cat. Go figure). Much more fun to shop at than the big box stores, and they helped us out with a trap when one of our kittehs escaped and tried to move permanently into the depths of the kudzu behind our house. I can't speak for the grooming services since our cats take care of that department themselves. Shop local, folks! read more

this is our dog grooming spot. we like it - pretty easy and fits our needs. we get our two fur babes groomed, cut, all the works when needed - they are pretty friendly and do a good job. mel is cool with our dogs and we book appointments with her on saturdays...but ya gotta get in there early we've learned, they stay busy! :) it'd be cool if they could take more appointments other than saturday, but it's not too big of a deal ;) the doggies get excited to go there too :) and they come back nice, clean, and cut - which we appreciate! almost forgot, periodically they have a traveling vaccination clinic come by there - we took our dogs to it to get their updated shots, etc - you have to get there early and wait in line for awhile, but you save a ton of money (and time) vs. going to the vet! very cool. read more

I took my dog here to get groomed today, we had a horrible experience. My dog was nervous when we arrived because he hates baths. Sometimes when he is nervous he has accidents. Well today he had an accident when we arrived at the groomers, I apologize and asked for materials to clean it up. The rude lady working at the desk sneered at me "You should have walked him before you came." I told her I did and she responded "So your saying he has just pooped twice?" That's exactly what I'm saying lady. Needless to say I am beyond appalled that I was called a liar by a business that is suppose to be trying to retain my business. This has to be one of the worst customer service experiences I have ever encountered. But the story only gets worse. I left my dog and returned 3 hrs latter to pick him up, when I got there the same woman instructed me to go next door and pay before I ever even saw my dog. I did as she asked and then picked up my dog. He now has the worst hair cut, she cut his hair very short and the hair is uneven. I asked for a westie hair cut and I don't even know why kind of a dog he looks like now. Apparently this salon employees people who retaliate on poor little doggies when the staff is annoyed with the owners. Despicable. Later that day I took my dog to another dog groomers for a third party opinion and she told me his hair cut is one of the worst professional hair cuts she has ever seen. Needles to say I will not be returning and I would not recommend this place to others. read more
