I would give zero star if I can. I was so disappointed to Petco. I bought fishes here since one year ago. The salesman told me the fishes could be exchanged within 15 days. But I never got any fish be exchanged. When I bring the dead fish and tank water sample to this store, the salesman always told me the tank water has problem and suggested me to buy a lot of products. Also he can not exchange a new fish for me because it is my tank water problem. After I bought the test paper and test at home and I finally found there is no problem for my tank water! I was fooled by the salesman. I will never come back again to Petco, especially this dishonest Petco store! Also, the produces here is much more expensive than the price on amazon.com. I have a serious concern of the animals at Petco. With everything going on I noticed the other stores boarding up with major concerns on looting and rioting and Petco is not boarding the store up. It would be a tragedy if the store was broken into, and the animals were to be hurt or killed. I asked an employee if they were going to board up and they were not sure as of that moment of time they have not heard anything from the corporate office. Buddy (our Shih Tzu) loves Myra. Our first experience at a groomer was an awesome one. Myra took the time to work on Buddy even though he was a hand full. The patience and care was remarkable. I guess Petco doesn't want my business, or anyone else who doesn't shop online. For two days in a row I have tried to visit the store well before the curfew imposed in L.A. county. For two days in a row the store was closed stating possible protests as the reason. There have been no protests here in El Monte, but there are a lot of us Latinos. Used to love coming here. Never going to again. I was buying pet supplies and decided to get my cat a flea collar, but it did not have the price. I figured id be fine if it was less that $50. Went to check out and my total was over $100. Asked the cashier to remove the collar please (as i did not have enough money) since the collar was $80 and apologized because i didnt see a price and didnt know it would be so much. The cashier then took the collar and with attitude said "next time ask for the price then."As soon as my transaction was made he simply handed me my receipt and said "your stuffs in the bag." And walked away immediately. I work in customer service as well and know this attitude was not okay. That was the rudest way Ive EVER been treated. This is the 3rd time I try to bring my dog to get groomed and they cancel on us because they are over booked. They insisted that they called to confirm cancellation with us and never received a call or a voicemail from them. I had my text confirmation for my appointment stating my appointment was confirmed. Never received and email or any sort of notification from them. Wouldn't recommend bringing your dog here it's a complete waste of time. Nobody seems to take responsibility in their actions. Never fan of Petco, they tend to be overprice in my opinion. You get better deal in local pet store than franchise, which is strange, you though franchise would offer better price but not necessary true. Staff here isn't that helpful which unlike local petstore staff there is much nicer and is more knowledgeable. We brought our cat here to get shaved and Stephanie was awesome in taking care of both us and our cat. She made sure he was well taken care of and treated excellently, as well as complimenting on his behavior. New Petco opened in the plaza on the corner of Valley and Santa Anita. I'm not usually a fan of Petco because of their higher prices compared to other pet shops but since this is close to my house and I wanted to find something for my dog, I decided to drop by. Right when you walk in, you'll notice everything is neat and organized. Staff greeted me as I walk in so that was great. Be sure to become a member to get the discounts they advertise. Otherwise, most of the products aren't discounted and considerably bit more expensive than other stores. I just signed up to become a member but didn't get an email confirmation yet and wasn't in their system. I picked up some treats and a toy which were discounted only for members. I told the cashier that I had just signed up and was wondering if I would still be able to get the discount. She tried to look up my account but wasn't activated yet. However, she was nice enough to discount me. Great service and plenty of parking. Just wish the prices weren't so high. read more

I've been going here for about 2 years we have 4 Maltese dogs and Naomi is the best I travel all the way from Norwalk to have my dogs groomed she used to work at the petco in Cerritos but when she moved to El Monte we went there we could of stayed in Cerritos but I love the way she grooms our dogs she genuinely loves what she does read more

The store itself is nice and has everything your looking for. It's great to finally have a pet store in El Monte. I utilized their grooming services. It was a Saturday and there were only 2 people working. I know the store just opened so I'm sure their grooming department is still growing. I took my maltipoo for a bath and trim of head and tail. The two ladies working were nice and courteous. The price was reasonable. I picked up my dog 3 hours later and they reported they had no problems and even used the whitening shampoo at no charge since I was a new customer. I was happy with his bath and trimming. My dog suffers from teary eyes and I wasn't too impressed with how well they trimmed and cleaned the eye area. But I do know it's difficult to clean. For a quick bath and trim I would come back. The store also sells the food he eats. read more

Wow is all i can say, I have been buying my dog food and supplies from this petco since the store opened last year . Tonight my family and I ran into pick up a backpack dog harness 10 minutes to 9pm knowing they were closing in 10 minutes we grabbed our ususl big bag of whole earth dog food and stopped to look quickly at dog harnesses. We heard a 2 minute closing announcement when a kid with a petco apron on yeld down the ise at us , we were 5 feet away! JUST TO LET YOU KNOW WE ARE CLOSED !!!! He turned and stormed away saying im sick of this and stormed away. We looked at each other and dropped the dog food put back the 35 dollar harness and left but not before asking the sales kids name. Our names are Dolly, Roxy and Clover and we are the newest four-legged clients at our new neighborhood Petco! And we just love our baths and grooming from Naomi, Alisha and Crystal! They give us a nice "warm" baths with the works; oatmeal soap, a nice massage and even brush our teeth! Wow! Nobody has ever done that before! They are so nice to us! We have already been back a couple of times and now we will NEVER go anywhere else! Both of our Mommy's have made friends with these gals and say they were born to work with animals and we said...who are you calling an animal?! Just sayin' But Seriously, Naomi and Alisha particularly have quite the knack for working with pets...this is the place to go for grooming people! I am so glad they came to our part of the world! I've been taking my dog there since the location opened and have always been satisfied until today!! Appt time was 8:30 but store does not open until 9. Needless to say the doors did not open. I was not informed that I had to call in order for them to let me in. I went home and waited until they opened to call. The first I called I was hung up on. I called right back and was basically called a liar by Mayra. I let her know we were at the doors at 8:30 and they didn't open. She said "we didn't see anybody there". She placed me on hold and returned on the line to let me know I'd have to wait for a cancellation or re-schedule. At that point I told her the situation was upsetting and her reply was "what". Not as in "what, can you repeat that?" It was definitely said with the tone of "what's your problem!" I let her know that I didnt appreciate her tone or the way she was speaking to me. She then changed to tone to a very sarcastic, condescending sweet voice and said "I'm speaking to you just fine". I let her know her customer service was horrible and again in the same sarcastic voice she said "but it's not". I told her to forget about my appointment and she said "okay bye". Needless to say I am beyond upset and because of this one horrible interaction I will never go back!! read more

I finally decided to use the grooming services at this Petco, considering it's within walking distance from my home. I went about one month ago to have my dog's nails trimmed. I met Michelle at this time, we had a nice interaction so I trusted her to trim her nails. Michelle did such a great job and was so friendly that I decided to book an appointment for full grooming. Unfortunately when I went in to drop off my dog Michelle wasn't there, so I had the misfortune of meeting a new employee, rude young lady who was short because she didn't know the answer to my questions on account of being new. All she had to do was tell me she was new. This was followed with her boss, pink haired manager, who had just arrived (11:40ish) and appeared upset. So she too proceeded to answer my questions with a rude attitude. This was my dog's first full grooming service at Petco in over 10 years but somehow I'm supposed to recall their services. These two women gave me such a negative impression that I didn't trust them to leave my beloved dog with them. Save yourself the trouble, book your dog's grooming appointment elsewhere. I'm going back to Super Pets, even though I will drive further and pay a little more. I guess you do get what you pay for...and attitude is part of the package! read more

First time coming here & hated it. A worker (not mentioning name or gender) ruined it for my bf & I. Never been a fan of Petco because they always have the worse customer service & are always over priced. But my bf needed to feed his Breaded Dragon so we went. When we got there my bf asked the worker for a dollars worth of crickets (because the dragon doesn't eat much). The worker then had a rude as comment. They said that they were going to add tax too & my bf said it was fine then they responded by saying "ohh ok just didn't know if you had the dollar or extra". Bitch wtf!?? Do we look poor af!? It might not sound like a rude comment by reading it but if you were there & saw their face & the tone of voice they said it with, you'd agree w this review. Rude as hell. Never coming here. Plus the crickets were mostly dead. Waste of a dollar. Rather stick the pet store in the valley mall across the street. They're way nicer & cheaper too. read more

Do not get your dog groomed here. I had an appointment for 11:30 AM, around 2 I started to get a little nervous because it was taking longer than expected. So I call to see if my dog is ready and the lady on the phone gives me so much attitude about asking when my dog will be ready. She said they usually ask for about 4 hours, no one ever told me it would take that long or else I would've never booked that appointment. 4 hours is to long to have any dog tied up getting trimmed or in a cage waiting.
