Yesterday we dropped off our two dogs around 11:30 for a 12 appt... I picked them up at 3pm. We paid for deep hair cleaning, ear, all basic dog grooming things. The girl said my dogs didn't do well with dryer (in my past groomers, they put a hair band or earphones over the ears... she didn't have anything so the nose was bothering them). Net is - they both cam home as hairy as when they went in... 3.5 hrs later... I have loved other groomers, always rated 5 stars in Colorado/other areas - I am really sad to rate poorly - but this truly was extraordinary!! I use Petco for all food/treats/etc.. and they lost me/my family on all counts. My dog gets anxious - when not treated lovingly - she has come back from other groomers..calmly - this is the first time she was in an all out panic. response to Petco response - Iid ask GM to call me..crickets... read more

Oh my gosh. I picked my poodle up, and didn't notice anything until I got into the car. Her right paw was bleeding prolifically. All over my mom's lap. We got home and I called the manager, George. Really nice guy, but didn't help me at all. Jane, the groomer, called me later and gave me serious attitude saying, "this happens all the time". I've had poodles for 15 years, and this has NEVER happened. My poor girl bled for two days after her "groom". I will NEVER step foot into a Petco again. Corporate called me and assured me that they would take care of me. NOTHING. They still charged me the $100 Plus for the groom, never apologized. They asked for a photo of the bleeding and I sent it. NO RESPONSE. Please don't take your babies to this horrible place. There are places that actually care about you and your baby. read more

Had a appointment today for two dogs. I went in early before my appointment and the one person was there no one at the desk. Groomer that was there was washing a dog with her back to the door. I waited ten minutes and she never turned around to acknowledge me standing there. Another customer came in and we waited another 5 minutes and still the groomer did not acknowledge us. Other customer called to see if she would respond to a call and did not respond and continued what she was doing. I love being ignored. I left and I won't be back. These guys are a joke! I would not take your dog here! I paid for them to trim my dogs nails and when my dog come out I let them know they forgot to cut his nails. After me pointing it out to Auria she had the nerve to get mad at the fact I mention they forgot to do something I paid for. That's not the best part. With Attitude took my dog back to "trim" his nails which they did a crap job doing. Again I paid extra for that service mind you. She had the nerve to bring my dog and tell me that because they took him back a second to trim his nails he started bleeding. First of all they didn't trim the first time and second if your a dog person you know when your dogs nails are trimmed and know if he starts bleeding from one. Guess what I checked his nail and I could find of any signs of him bleeding. I then questioned Auria as to where is the blood and her response was "oh we um wiped it away already". After all that they told me if he were to "bleed" again they won't see him ever again as if it's a privilege for him to be groomed there. Don't you guys made it easy make me want to go somewhere else. The best part is they then asked for a tip after all that! Ha! No thanks! "We did such a bad job at what we were paid to do and get mad when you ask us to finish the job we DESERVE a trip!" A great way to end this joke of a service! Petco just lost a customer. Was asked if needed a bag, said yes. Daw a .10 charge on my receipt. When I asked about Catherine pointed to a small sign on the counter. When I advised that next time someone says they want a bag that she should advise of the fee for not everyone is looking down ar the counter. She looked at me like a deer in headlights. When I said it would be good customer service she said oh. First, they were able to get my dog in within a week of calling (My groomer of 15 years was not able to get my dog in for a month!). They were friendly and welcoming and Auria honestly gave my shih tzu the best haircut he has ever had in 10 years. He smelled great. And, he was happy afterwards - it seemed like a good experience for a first time cut. It is worth me driving from Scottsdale to Fountain Hills to keep going to Auria. (And, my dog was there for less than 2 hours ..... Used to the groomer keeping my dog for hours.). I recommend Auria to anyone looking for a new groomer. read more

She is the employee that makes a person want to come into Petco. When I think of Petco, I think of Kennedi. I would say she is the Voice you want to represent Petco. Not only does she respond to the customer with what is needed but she goes "over and above" to assist in any way possible. We first met Kennedi when we came in to have our new puppy's picture taken with Santa. Kennedi told me she would love to train our puppy. Someone in line said "and she is the best!" We got the information to think about what we wanted to do. The following week we did go back and enroll Bear, our puppy, in her Level 1 Puppy Class and started immediately. I have trained dogs many years ago and since coming to Arizona our dogs have gone to many people for training. I can confidently say, that Kennedi is a gem for the Fountain Hills Petco. She is so positive, cheerful, and has a fantastic attitude. She is always listening and addressing any issues one has. She looks for feasible solutions. She is always focusing her attention on how to best meet the needs of the dog and family. I have always had excellent service here and never had any any problems whatsoever, but yesterday I came in here to buy some bird supplies and some crickets. the guy with the long hair at the register (who is always very nice to me) gave me such a hard time, asking me a million questions. What am I going to do with the crickets, why am I buying them, blah blah blah. It was a very uncomfortable experience. It's none of his business. He should just be ringing me up, and not worrying about what I'm doing with crickets, and where they're going, and all this stuff. It was very annoying. I am rating the grooming area. The store is nice and whatnot but I agree prices are sky high. I took my wild Australian Shepherd there to be groomed not too long ago and they were SO great. I was nervous about going because I'm so used to my usual place but they were closed and I needed it done rather quickly. They got me in the next day and then something came up where I couldn't pick him up right away. I called and was assured it was alright and I could pick up later on. When I got there all I could hear was his high pitch whining and I felt so bad because I figured they must have heard it all day and it annoyed them and figured they hated my dog now... But when she brought him out she was playing with him and loving on him. She also gave him about 5 treats and three to take home. This, to me, shows that she wasn't just trying to pretend she could tolerate my dog but that she really went out of her way and you don't do that for dogs you don't like. You act like you like them but she really went out of her way! Great people! read more

The particular Petco location is kept tidy and seems to be in-stock, however, there's always a 50/50 chance they have cat grass. I routinely buy grass for my feline as he enjoys chewing on blades for whatever reason (nutrition, digestion help, boredom, taste, etc etc) - I dunno - he won't tell me ;) They also DO have an ample section for cat and dog owners which is great! I do wish they would have a larger selection for fish/reptile owners. I have 2 tiny, Dwarf froggies and was in search of a pumpless fish bowl - they did have a few available, but not very many, to my disappointment. I also bought a live, aquatic plant for the bowl for better oxygen delivery to my frogs/aesthetic reasons, but got it home last night to discover part of the plant had mold and sort of fell apart when I was building my new bowl. To put it straight, about 1/2 of it disintegrated in my hand. No bueno. This location does offer grooming and training which is a nice addition. I haven't had too many Cashier interactions here, but some have been not too great, as I get the impression there's some laziness. I hope I'm wrong... read more

My son's dog, a young Basset Hound, responded very well. My two older dogs resisted at first, but with continued training at home using the techniques I learned from Kennedi their doing well. Awful service! There were only 2 people working in the store today and one went to lunch. The girl running the register said she couldn't leave the front of the store to get crickets for me until there were no customers in the store at all or the other employee came back from lunch, 40 minutes later.....You can see the front door from where the crickets are!!! My two puppies just graduated from their Level 1 Adult Training class with Kennedi and we couldn't be more pleased with the classes! Kennedi was so amazing and patient with our dogs and really understood what they needed. My husband and I were so impressed with how well she connected and communicated with our pups. She is very knowledgeable and was always willing to work around our schedule in case we ever couldn't make it to our class. Worst experience making a grooming appointment ever. Tried calling the salon but no one answered. Went online, had to recover the web page a minimum of 10 times. When I was finally able to enter my information, the "I am not a robot" thing kept buffering. I finally called the chat line. The woman I spoke with had such a strong accent I could barely understand her. She set the appointment for an hour later than I agreed to. Forty minues spent so far. We go for grooming and was told that since the proof of rabies vaccine didn't indicate if it was good for 1 or 3 years they wouldn't groom her. It was dated just a5 months earlier. NO MORE PETCO FOR ME EVER. read more

My family signed up for the puppy training with Kennedi and it was worth every penny. We have a 9 month old mini golden doodle and she responded well with the training that Kennedi provided. All the information provided is very valuable and she really wants all dogs & humans to succeed. She truly is knowledgeable with behavioral dog issues and works hard to help you solve those issues with what works for your dog. She provides handouts at the end of the classes to help remind you what your homework is, the one hour of training goes so fast! My six year old son looks forward to the dog training as well and as helped his self esteem and relationship with his dog. As a family we highly recommend Kennedi and her dog training classes! I signed my Coton de Tulear puppy, Bella Rose, up for Puppy Training 1 and 2 classes with Kennedi at the Petco in Fountain Hills. Kennedi is very knowledgeable and patient. She takes the time to tell us what we will be doing, she shows us how to do it, then she reinforces what we are doing. Every step along the way Kennedi gives the owners feedback in a positive manner. If I get frustrated, Kennedi reminds me to keep practicing and be patient. She is as much a human psychologist as dog trainer. Bella Rose and I continue to practice and are looking forward to starting Canine Good Citizen classes with Kennedi. Beware of the GROOMING SALON here! We usually use PetSmart but decided to try Petco since it's in town and the store has always been nice. Our dog was brought in for her appt at 3:30, was seen at 4:40 and was was finished at 4:55. The groomer must be a magician because she completed a full bath, blow dry, ear cleaning, gland expression, nail trimming and 15 minute minimum brushing in just 15 minutes. Our dog did not appear or smell groomed, her nails were still extremely long. She wasn't given the Full bath service we scheduled. When the groomer was questioned she got defensive and begrudgingly did the nails. When confronted about why she was doing them now and not before, she replied that she had to make the dogs nails bleed because she made her cut them shorter. Wow. She also threatened to ban my wife from the salon and store for being upset about the situation. The Manager called later to say he looked into the incident and apologized. He asked us to come in and scheduled us for a redo later that day. When my wife arrived alone later, the grooming manager Rachael also had a terrible attitude though. As Rachel was looking over the dog she found a small knotted area under her chest (which conveniently wasn't there just 2 days before when the first groomer did the 7 point check?) . She asked my wife if we wanted it shaved. My wife said no because we were shaving the dog down for warmer weather next month anyway and we just wanted the full service bath. The manager had the audacity to snidely ask my wife why she was "coming back to waste money for a second time then, that doesn't any make any sense", she said. My wife obviously didn't appreciate the comment and decided to decline the free redo groom based on the negative attitude from the grooming manager. My wife told her that she was being rude and she didn't want the free groom to which the grooming manager very professionally screamed "YOU'RE RUDE!" marched out and slammed the door in front of my wife and children. The Store manager Chris, who had called and set up the redo groom, then came in. My wife explained what had happened and that she was leaving. He replied "she can't groom her because she has knots", to which my wife explained that no, the groomer was actually just about to start the groom but my wife declined to have it done because of her attitude. He then said "well yeah, I don't really care, I've heard about you before and from another customer, so yeah". So the Manager didn't ever really care about the initial bad grooming visit, his apology was fake. Apparently he was just having her return so he waste our time and the Grooming manager could insult her as well. He acted like this when I wasn't around but didn't have anything to say but apologize when I was there with her earlier that day. What a Man. His whole apology was obviously very disingenuous. This is unthinkable treatment towards a customer and their pet. It's unethical. Corporate has been informed and is doing a investigation. I hope they go back and watch the video surveillance so they can see just how awful the groomers treat pet parents and how the manager issues fake apologies and sides with his unprofessional employees. Also, the dog was terrified of the groomers here, she usually is not, we should have listened to her! The 15 minute drive to PetSmart in Scottsdale is well worth it, they are actually friendly and professional, and do what they advertise and offer. They must care about their customers and reputation more. read more

We've been going to the FH location of Petco for 10 years. We think that the prices of food and other pet supplies are competitive with other big box stores. However the grooming services are the absolute best!!! We believe the grooming costs to be very reasonable for the professional service, tender care and quality work that is provided.
