I came in Petco with my daughter, we came to buy fish and are new to the hobby. In the past, we have been to fish stores and the people working them weren't knowledgeable and gave no advice. Shane took time to help us. He made sure that we got fish that were compatible. Had a happy home for them explained to us what we need to do to make sure our fish were happy and healthy. My family and I love Petco. Our basset is well taken care of there. The groomers are so personable and the cashiers are always very helpful.

I went to return an item and before we could complete the transaction, a storm caused the power to go out. Jonathan and Naydia were both very friendly and kind. I explained that I was flying out of state the next day and would be gone for the summer. When I returned, it would be past the return date. Jonathan took my name and they assured me I would still be able to return my item. When I returned to the store, as soon as he saw me, Jonathan remembered me and took care of the return. Tired of every time I go there, the checkers hold up the entire line so they can sign people up for their discount program. They really don't even try to speed it up. Then when it's finally my turn, I decline giving my name and phone number and just want to buy the item. But the checker STILL holds me up trying to change my mind. I don't need some college kid harassing me for my personal info, especially after I said "No" several times. It almost becomes an argument. This guy does it a lot. And, no, I don't have this back and forth in other chain stores. They're pretty good about it. Only at Petco. Not going back. Found what I want on Amazon (free shipping to my ranch) for the SAME PRICE. Get with the times, Petco and stop the aggressive tactics. read more

If I could give 0 stars I would... I went to buy a fish and the girl was cleaning all the tanks while I was standing right there trying to ask her to help me. Finally got her attention and she just seamed irritated that I even bothered to ask her to do her job. She got fish for me and instead of nicely scooping the fish out of the tank she smacked them into the tank wall to get them for me (while children were watching) she was being so aggressive with the fish she managed to bury one fish under the rocks. It is also sad that I applied to work at this petco months ago and didn't get the job. I am more qualified and friendly than any of their current employees. I mean you're getting payed to do the job at least smile. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. When this store first opened, there were employees who were at least SOMEWHAT pleasant. Everybody that I've encountered recently at this location has been extremely rude/condescending. It's quite unfortunate. I've been in the customer service/retail/hospitality/food and bev field for 17 years, while being a manager for 15 of those years. I went in looking for a specific brand of dog collar that I have purchased there previously on more than one occasion. The display was always near the checkout, and when I didn't see it there, I looked all over the store. I finally went to the checkout counter to inquire about them. There were two young men at the registers; one was checking out another customer and one had no customers. He was looking down for a long while, maybe looking at his shoes, I don't know. He finally looked up but did not acknowledge me in any way. I said in a friendly tone of voice, "Hey, excuse me! I'm looking for the dog collars that were always on display right here by the checkout." I stopped there so that he could give me some indication that he was listening and wanted me to continue. What he did, though, was look at me smugly and said, "You gotta give me more than that." I was so taken aback by the flippant comment that I said, "I'm not sure of the brand, but they have always been kept right in this area." Before I could expound any further, he repeated his rude comment with a smirk that was so off-putting that I said somewhat loudly, "You know what? I'll go to PetsMart." If I can avoid it at all, I will never step foot in that store again. read more

I have been going to this Petco for almost 3 years but I will now be buying everything online. If I could give 0 stars I would, especially to the manager. I went in, inquiring advice about medication and was listening to all the options the clerk was telling me they had. Because everything was so expensive and out of my price range, I just got pill pockets and was about to leave. I then stated I wished the meds weren't so expensive, and the gentleman then stated that they had 7 medication chews for $30. I quickly bought them. Once I got home I realized I did not pay $30ish dollars for the medication, I paid double that. I called the store to speak to the gentleman that sold me the meds because I just wanted clarification on the price and the product. The store manager refused to allow me to speak to the clerk, interrupted me multiple times, was blatantly rude, and hung up on me. Needless to say I will never spend a dime again at HVille Petco and you shouldn't either. read more

Usually this is a five star review, but I paid for an extra 15 minutes of brushing and I am sure my dogs did not get the full 15 minutes as they came home and shed almost enough to make a sweater. Everything else was fine, though. One of my dogs is extremely shy and she does great here. read more

It was a great store but an employee there told me very rudely to not play with the cat litter that was on display for the reason " cmon guys people buy that." It would have been ok if he would have said hey guys could you please not touch the litter as I thought it was something you could mess around with. Worst place in Huntsville to take your pet to. I dropped my dog off at 9 in the morning to get a haircut. They quoted me 2-3 hours. It was at 1:30 pm where I went to check in on him to see if everything was ok. They said oh yes everything is going well we are just about to finish him up. I went across the street since they said he would be ready in less than 30 minutes. About 15 minutes later I get a call saying that my dog bit the groomer. I was extremely surprised as my dog had been here at least 10 times and is the sweetest little pup who is less than a year old. Also he had already been there for 5 hours so it was weird for him to all of a sudden be aggressive. I go to see him expecting him to be basically done, but when he is given to me ABSOLUTELY NOTHING was done to his entire body. Not cutting or shaving of ANY SORT happened within the 5 hours of him being there. My dog sat there for 5 hours to merely only receive a bath allegedly. They informed me that they didn't blow dry him and they were waiting for him to dry off which is why it took so long. My dog sat in a cage for 5 hours soaking wet because the people were neglecting him and didn't want to do their job and blow dry him. At this point I wouldn't be surprised if they hurt him because they were behind schedule and were rushing which caused my 1 year old pup to nip at the groomer or even go as far as to lie so they wouldn't have to give him a haircut. All in all, worst experience I've ever encountered. I used to have full trust in PETCO since they've been my groomer for the last year, but now I'm worried they scarred my dog for the rest of his life. Whatever you do, never go here. read more

The manager was so very helpful and nice, he volunteered to check for a product in the back, found it and then gave us a huge packet of coupons upon our check out (my mom is taking my cat for me) for having a new pet!! Really poor and disappointing small mammal section. They have the bare minimum in variety and that's about it. Animals have very little toys/food/treats placed in their habitats, like nothing for the rodents to gnaw their teeth on besides plastic which is basically small mammal 101. I wish there was another pet supplies store in Huntsville, which is a shame considering how relatively new this Petco is. Randomly generated coupons you get from your pals cars are annoying since they're never for the type of pet you have. I contemplating starting to just order my chinchilla's supplies online to save on money and hassle. read more
