My husband asked for help at the front desk, and we were lucky enough to meet Danny. We didn't even realize until near the end that he is the General Manager. From the very start, he was incredibly kind, patient, and enthusiastic. He explained every single detail and answered all of our beginner questions without ever making us feel rushed or uncomfortable. When he learned this was our first time buying a fish, he smiled and said, "Let's make it more exciting--I love this." And he truly did. He helped us choose a 10-gallon tank, two fish, and all the decorations, guiding us carefully through every item. I went in about a month ago and asked an employee Jordan about my dog who is having stomach problems about different brand of food for sensitive stomachs. She recommended many brands and specifically one brand and it worked perfectly. My dog hasn't had any problems since then and recently, my cat has been having stomach issues. I went in and asked for Jordan and for some reason she's not there so a manager named Danny M was there I asked him about my problem with my cat, and if he recommended any specialty cat products, he had no clue what he was talking about. He didn't know about the brands of cat food. He was trying to hand me over to another employee grace. She was a little bit better, but Danny had no clue what he was talking about. Horrible customer service. Brought my dog in for their "happy hour" grooming and the staff was anything but happy. Left me standing for 15 minutes at the counter, were rude, mumbled to where i could not understand them. While they got it done for a good price, the service was substandard at best. On 7/1/25 My 15 lb dog, who I have been taking to get groomed at this location for at least 4 years. Andrew who was his very first-time groomer was outstanding, and my pup never had an issue. Andrew sadly left Petco and my pup had been shuffled off to at least 2 other groomers until settling in with Grace. She was very sweet and always accommodating. Yesterday he came home from the groomers and while up on the sofa I noticed his ear. I asked my bf what happened, and he stated he was not told of any issue. You can see from the pictures my dog had injuries to both ears. This is not the first time this has happened, he also got clipper burn marks to his belly that we had to treat with medicated Vaseline for a week before it cleared up (per our vet). I felt this time it was unacceptable and made a phone call right away and spoke with another groomer on the phone because Grace was busy. I was told my dog gets clipper groomed due to his longer fur but literally his hears looked like they were clipped with scissors. I could only assume this though. I was told a manager would be phoning me the following day to discuss the issue. Fast forward to 7/3 and I received a call from a " Jr. Manager" who spoke to me as if I were a child asking to describe the issue and what it looked like. She had told me "She was there and saw no injuries to my dog when he was picked up. I told her I took photos and if she would like to see them and was told that they did not have email at the store or a phone to receive the photos. I was interrupted several times and was told that my dog was no longer able to be groomed at this location and could take them to the La Quinta location because they had several more groomers anyway. I found out that my dog is not welcome there either, as if to say he was the problem. I will be taking my small 15lb dog elsewhere. read more

This Petco has such an amazing trainer named Ricki. She has patience galore and really knows how to work with the dogs as well as the parents who in our case needed the most work. Our Ziggy really made an improvement with her help and would highly recommend her as an excellent trainer. Also, Debbie Ziggy's groomer there also does an excellent job.! We have taken Archer here to get his nails trimmed for the 4 and 1/2 years we've had him. Always had the best experience. No trouble at all. But today I took him in and he didn't want to go with the guy who came to get him. He struggled out of his leash and the guy said I didn't need to put his harness or leash back on he'd just carry him. Well Archer is probably 60-70 lbs. anyways. He brought him out about 5 min later with a little leash on and said he had too much anxiety and tried to bite!!!!!!!!! Archer has NEVER EVER snapped at or bitten anyone!!!! They couldn't do his nails. Archer does not have anxiety either. so I am deeply concerned as to what went on in there for him to act that way!!! I asked the man at the register if the people in grooming were new and he said "actually they are"! I will never come back here and definitely share my experience on social media! I am not sure if the guy that took him back did his nails ( I would think not ) but someone needs to look into this! I am typing this review with a broken heart after taking my perfectly healthy dog to Petco in Indio on July 12th, 2025 for a rabies vaccination. Shortly after coming home. she started sneezing, then hacking and eventually gasping for air. I took her to Good Samaritans first, who after a $1000 in lab tests, advised I needed to get her to another vet immediately for further evaluation. Took her to La Quinta Pet Hospital, gave her an IV, started her on Doxycycline antibiotics, then Denamarin in an attempt to heal her liver after discovering low platelets and high enzymes. My dog died in my arms last night 8/01/25 at home and I was unable to realize that she was in a downward spiral. Petco .... there are no words to describe the harm you have done to me and my family. May Chapter 7 be the karma that you face in the near future. I DESPISE YOU! read more

Took my elderly/senior dog there for grooming a couple days ago. My dog has had a limp ever since she wont even walk on her right back leg she has held it up and has looked in pain since i picked her up. I have a vet appointment tomorrow to find out if they dislocated it. read more

Girl upfront first tells me that that is a prescription product and I told her it is not and never has been! Nobody asked for the SKU number to help me when I showed them on the app. Total waste of time going to the store today. I called La Quinta to see if they had it in stock and they were out so I promptly called Palm Desert and Bruce was lovely! He physically walked over to check if they had it and said there was only two left and he would set one aside for me with my name. Now that is customer service! Ricky was a wonderful trainer for not only me but for both of my puppies. She was so friendly and down to earth since day one and I genuinely enjoy my time with her. She is all about doing things in the best way possible for you and your dog. No roughness was ever used or encouraged and she helped establish an even deeper bond and trust with me and both of my pups I took my 1 yr old adopted rottweiler\German shepherd mix, Soli, in to focus on some leash training and Ricky was a complete blessing to me and my shoulders! I no longer deal constant soreness from dog pulling on the leash. Soli still has some work to do since I started a bit late with her due to me adopting her later into her adult stage but Ricky was a complete godsend and I am definitely going to be taking Soli back in with her for a second session. My second puppy is about to be a 4 month old Shepherd X, Roku. He is the most mellow puppy you will ever meet but Ricky helped me get a handle on him early so that I will not struggle with him once he triples in size! He has been able to learn how to come when called, sit, lay down, stay, walk on the leash beside me, and even roll over! I am so proud of the progress I have been able to make with him thanks to Ricky's help. At one point his puppy partner was jumping all over him and I managed to keep Roku's attention on me and keep him in a stay for the entire time! At only 3 months with 6 weeks of training. Where do I begin... This store changes employees like someone changes their clothes. All have been fairly nice. Except CJ! TOTALLY RUDE! I had bought a 20 dollar light bulb for my chameleon and when i got home the light was defective. The little wick thing inside was busted.. i took it back the same day and CJ WAS LITERALLY GIVING ME THE HARDEST TIME !! i said i just boight this bulb from you a few hours ago... and he almost didnt give me a replacement, i was annoyed but let it pass... Then a separate trip I asked for crickets, he said he can't sell me them because he needs to feed his animals. I was flabbergasted. I'm like this is a pet store.... where CUSTOMERS come to buy good for their pets.. after ARGUING with this jerk AGAIN for 10 mins to give me some crickets, he finally does. And what do u know, he still had enough for his own. Instead of arguing with a loyal customer, he could of just started there. I would rather drive 20 minutes to the nearest PETSMART to get my crickets. A place I can always count on an employee.. avoid this location as much as possible. And avoid CJ, he's completely rude. We got our puppy from a no kill shelter that he had been in almost his entire 1st year of life, and he definitely needed training. We reached out to Ricki and chose private lessons because we felt that our puppy really needed that one on one attention/training. I got my new pup at 6 months old and he had no prior training so we had a lot of work to do. Ricki was so great at teaching him the basics and teaching me how to train him. She is well versed in many different breeds and behaviors which was helpful because he was a rescue and we don't exactly know his breed... She was attentive and accommodating to our needs and even provided great recommendations on teething toys, harnesses, vet services and daycare options. We were about to give up on our new puppy and we're at our whits end when we in desperation reached out to Ricki at petco for some dog training. Ricki helped us learn how to communicate with our puppy and she really trained us on how to be good dog parents. After 6 weeks our lives have completely transformed and we have the best puppy ever. Our small dog is 100% better behaved and is a joy to take out of the house. I would recommend Ricki as a personal dog trainer to anyone who needs help no matter how impossible you think it is. Too bad I can't zero stars this place. I never complain but when I do I have to express myself and here it is . I cannot begin to tell you to stay away from this place. The manager is very unprofessional and is a total prick. He has a petco king complex and he thinks he owns petco and can talk and treat customers with disrespect. This manager in question is named Zachary he really sucks at his job. I purchased a betta fish and a plant (so called 30day warranty) It did not survive one week, so I brought it back, instead of him returning my cash $40 he decided to give me store credit and then I was able to get a fish and a plant. All good so far, until the fish and the plant die 4 days after the 2nd purchase. I came back to the petco and this Zachary person, and actually they did a refund but they decided on refunding me $4?? I was like wtf ??? And they took the dead fish and plant from me and told me basically said I lost the $40. He cannot refund me the total amount and that I would have to call customer service. After almost 10 hours with customer service they tell me that it is a In store purchase and the only one that can help me is this Zachary person and he is a total numb skull. I basically got robbed by petco. Do not go there unless u want to lose money and your time and get really frustrated with ignorant people. Do not worry, I will take this up to corporate petco. This guy needs to be removed from his position, he actually told me to come to the store to fight with him over a fish and plant, so he can trespass me. This guy is totally rude. Unprofessional, disrespectful, and to top it he's a thief. He is ok with stealing a customers $$ instead of solving the problem with some store credit and that would fix the issue. Website says the grooming department is open until 8PM everyday (excluding Sundays, they close at 6PM). They do not allow appointments for nail clipping, only walk-ins. On 4 different days, over the span of 2 weeks (never on a Sunday) I went to Petco between the hours of 4:30-6:00PM and the grooming department was already closed. Every time the cashier claimed that "the groomer had an emergency and had to leave early", I call BS because it happens so often. Not fair to customers when their website says they are open till 8PM! I approached you register with three items, the sales partner mention said they totaled 172, I said that must be wrong I had a bag of food that was $56 a bag of treats that was nearly $15 and a bag of bird food that was nearly $20+ tax of course, he double-checked and said 172 again, I challenge his calculations upon which I female cashier came over and told him to double-check the barcodes he did again he said 172, and then ask the manager to come over and check his calculations,they conferred with each other and the manager walked up to a again he's a hundred and seventy-two, I said do you not understand what the prices of the goods are I am purchasing?, For the last time he finally said the correct price I'm sorry sir but it comes to $100.72, this was the first time he said the amount correctly, I chided him and suggestedhe says a dollar amount and the change amount separately in the future every time he then got belligerent with me and said I did!, I corrected him and said no you did not you said it wrong 4 times before you got it right he stormed away from the register and walked into the interior of the store, he's a tool! read more

It's great that they are so close and new. BUT we won't be going there again. Went in because both dogs (pomeranian and toy poodle) needed a cut and grooming. How long do you think it took? 3 hours? nope. 4? nuh-uh. 5? keep going. 6.5 hours I kid you not. Did I mention we had an appointment??? Oh, and I had to have them redo the cut on the pomeranian (my babygirl) because her cut was reminiscent of back in the day when my brother, in elementary school, first tried shaving our dog because my parents told him he had to get rid of the hair or get rid of the dog. hmmm come to think of it, her haircut at petco also reminded me of the first time my brother mowed the lawn. He didn't realize that he should cut in rows, and there were zigzags and dips all through the lawn. Yes, her haircut was that bad, and it was so hard to send her back after she had been there all day.....just so they could KIND OF fix it. After the redo her hair still looked bad. Actually, both dogs looked bad. Their cuts weren't even and had wicked ridges. So we call back and find out that the groomers are contracted out -- not PetCo employees, hence the two stars instead of 1. The manager tells my dad to call back on monday to go to another petco since my dad refused to bring our traumatized dogs back to that location. Did he try to get our phone number to follow up with us? no. He wanted us to call back. That's some customer service. read more

They completely butchered my Lab's extremely simple hair cut, and then still wanted us to pay for it. After several rounds of the blame game, in which this little weasel didn't have a leg to stand on, he finally said he'd give us a discount on the cut. My bf paid for it and then began the painful process of calling me back at home to tell me what happened. After just calling the store and speaking with a manager, Kimberly, it turns out the groomer we were dealing with was actually the grooming manager. He was a MANAGER and didn't feel compelled to at MINIMUM comp the cut? I will never step foot in another Petco again, and this 'manager' is reason numero uno. The ONLY reason we took the dog there in the first place is because Petco advertises that their groomers are trained and go to school for grooming specifically.
