This Petco has pet supplies, but the staff needs some help. I don't know if they don't have enough employees, but the checkout line is always SO LONG. It takes forever to get help or even to just make a purchase. Plus, the staff haven't been friendly, which is understandable if they're short staffed... but if they aren't?? I decided to try curbside pickup to avoid all this. I waited over 30 minutes before finally just going inside. I'll just try ordering online so I can avoid this store all together. I needed a particular item and wanted to get it locally but it was out of stock everywhere on island. I purchased it on Amazon and they failed me not once, but twice - sent me the wrong product & after requesting a replacement for the one I ordered, I received the same exact thing. I almost gave up but saw online, that this Petco had it in stock so I went around the mountain to get it. The store is currently under construction but OPEN. Signage could be improved - the lack could be due to all the changes throughout the store. I think the employees are really busy because I did a couple rounds before I found an associate to help me. If I can give you a tip, it would be to know your prices. If I hadn't done my research, I would've paid the inflated in-store price. On 4/17, I brought my elderly dog to Vetco for his monthly treatment (Vetco is a GREAT service, amazing staff, I can not recommend them enough) Approximately 4 weeks ago, at Petco salon, we had our dogs nails trimmed. Unfortunately they missed one, and it is quite long. Since getting my dog to Petco is a very difficult task, due to his advanced age, his weight, and his anxiety of vet-care, I decided I would simply have the one nail trimmed the next scheduled appointment. Tonight, after his appointment, I took him over to the salon to have them clip the one long nail. I was told by the salon since we did not bring him back within 1 week, there was nothing they could do. I offered to pay the full price for all the nails then, if they clip just the one - I felt it was ridiculous I had to pay for their mistake, but I just wanted it fixed. they agreed to that, but then asked when he saw the vet last (which was 10 minutes prior) that against policy, he had to wait 24 hours. Bummer - but understandable. I requested I talk to the manager for when I bring him back in, as I felt I shouldn't have to pay for the re-work. The store manager came up very bothered before the conversation even started. Before hearing what I was requesting, he said it's policy that the animal has to wait 24 hours and there's nothing he can do. I explained to him I 100% understand that, my issue isn't with that policy, it was that the salon missed a nail (it's visibly extremely evident, it's very long compared to the rest), and I need to now to pay to have them clip the one nail when I return. He then explained to me that when he goes to get a pedicure, it is his responsibility to notice if the nail salon missed one of his nails, so it was my "responsibility as a pet owner" to notice the nail. I explained that the issue is bringing him back in is difficult, which is why I am just not bringing him back. He continued to be annoyed with me, which was attitude he gave me before I ever had a chance to speak. I told him he is clearly very busy, and I do not want to waste anymore of his time, and I would like to finish my shopping, so if he would kindly give me the corporate number. He would not, and said that he will make an exception and cut his nail. I told him I'm not interested in that, and to please give me a corporate number or email. He then argued saying "I said we would cut the nail", I asked him if he's refusing to provide me a corporate contact, and he told me I'm being dramatic, embarrassing me in front of customers. I continued my shopping, he went to the front end, wrote down the number on receipt paper and handed it to me with much attitude. I then got in line, when he continued to try to argue with me, of which I was not engaging in other than saying sir I don't want to discuss this any longer. He kept arguing with me, told me I was being dramatic again (he remained the only one continuing to argue) and, embarrassed in front of other customers, I responded "I will just let corporate know I am a dramatic bad pet owner". He then said I was putting words in his mouth because he said I was being dramatic, not that I was dramatic.... It was a very embarrassing and upsetting experience. I would like to reiterate - VetCo - amazing staff. 5 out of 5. Petco, that was not the type of experience that encourages me to continue to purchase my pet supplies at this establishment. read more

Please don't come to this vet. I had to come here 3 times in a week because I just got a kitten. First was a check up, apparently the first vet exam is free for under 6months old. She had fleas when I got her, I have her a bath and got rid of all that I could find, but I asked for something to make sure that she's clean. They gave me a medicine for it and applied it right then, which is nice. They gave me advice for her bowel movement issues which did work! And told me to bring in her first bowel movement for screening for parasites just in case. The visit was $99. Two days later, I came to drop off the bowel movement. Easy. Then the next day they call and say she has a parasite and I need to come pick up the medicine and that it's ready to be picked up. That's today. I've been waiting here for about 45min-1hr. They told me 2 separate times that they're filling up the medicine "right now" and will be out soon, the second time was 10 minutes later and they said about 5 minutes. That was 20 minutes ago. Then I got the medicine. She explained to me exactly what the note's directions had printed out. Then the checking out. It took an additional 5 minutes for her to click around the laptop before I could pay? The girl in the front has to be new because it seems like she doesn't know what she's doing most of the time and is constantly asking for help from coworkers. All the people that work here are nice, so it's a shame that service is so slow. Look at this bottle of medicine. It takes an hour to fill? They said it was ready to pick up and just delayed it an hour... very weird. This takes 5 minutes MAX. If you have the choice, don't choose this place for your sanity. A short time later I received a phone call stating that our dog's age and his not standing, he was not to receive a bath. Additional cashiers were called to ring in the front, so he came up to help the line. the most unfriendly person I've ever met in my life. Treated me like I was such a nuisance to him. He acted so irritated to have to help me. I'm sure he's very busy, and I'm sure they're short staffed. But what a way to treat paying customers at your store. I killed him with kindness when I left. I brought my dog to the appointment with her vaccination record as a new client. Was told at the desk that she can't be on ANY medications to proceed with the haircut. She has a thyroid disorder and a skin condition, so she takes hormones every day, and is currently on antibiotics. I understand that this is a company policy, but I really wish the website advertising, checklist of stuff to bring, or pre-check in clearly mentioned it. Instead, I drove all the way over with her records and expecting our scheduled appointment, just to be turned away. I think the company policy is silly, but I understand liability and all that. If she wasn't on meds though, then that would be the problem for petco. Feels like no winning either way. I recall the only med related question on the pre check-in was "is your pet on any sedatives?", but that was it. Please be aware of the no medication rule before you waste your time finding vet records, completing a pet profile, making an appointment with a stylist, and doing a pre check-in. I haven't done a review for quite some time but felt compelled to do so. Recently, I bought an aquarium for my granddaughter. I enjoyed watching the fish so much, I decided to get a second aquarium and more fish, "for my granddaughter". I've been going to all the pet stores, watching videos on how to plantscape, and spent my entire weekend buying plants, rocks, and decor for my, I mean, her aquarium. In my aquarium, I had some beautiful glofish. And now that I had a bigger aquarium, I thought, why not add a couple more to have one of each color. So I went to petco, and they only had the larger species of glofish. So I bought them and the young man who helped said there's a 30-day guarantee if they get sick or anything hoes wrong. Well, they weren't sick, but they were a little aggressive and were bullying my other fish. So I took them back to Petco and explained that I really like them, they're so beautiful, they're not such, but they're bullying my other fish. No questions asked, they took the fish, refunded my money. The manager that assisted me was so fast and friendly. Talk about a no-hassle money back guarantee! I was really impressed! Chelsy had my dog for 5 hours and it is so choppy! When we dropped him off she accused me of neglecting his needs because he hasn't had a cut in 7 weeks. She was so argumentative about the length we wanted and how we wanted it to be. The manager gave us a discount for the timing inconvenience, but I wasn't expecting his haircut to be so bad. All of the staff at this location is overworked and it shows in their attitudes. Especially since she had him 3 hours longer than what I was told. I just purchased my normal dog food which is about $74 for 21 lbs. Prior to price matching I was charged $97.37 for a 21 lb bag in store. I asked the cashier why the website says $74 but I was charged $97. She said PRICES CHANGE EVERY TUESDAY AND IF YOU DONT PRICE MATCH THE WEBSITE OR APP YOU'RE CHARGED WHAT WE CHARGE IN STORE. I finally got my koi pond healthy again and came in to get more fish this afternoon to keep my 4 baby koi company and brighten up the pond. Marcus was on a ladder elbows deep, diligently cleaning the top row of tanks when I was looking at the fish. He stopped what he was doing to see if I needed help. I told him what I was looking for and he gave me options for a healthy pond and types of fish that get along with koi. He helped me pick out the most beautiful gold fish, fantails and comets. He gave me great advice on plants and food they prefer. He told me how he manages his own ponds and was so patient with me going back and forth from tank to tank choosing what I liked. He was very knowledgeable on how big they will get in the pond size I have, what they need to thrive etc. he must have waited on me for at least 45 minutes as I had so many questions. He took the time to answer them all. Next thing I knew is I had 5 bags of fish. He walked me to the register and rang me up and packed them in a bucket for safe transport. After that he walked me to my car and loaded it. He gave me instructions on how long to acclimate the fish in the bags before releasing them. He was extremely nice and friendly even though I probably took up a lot of his time away from his work. He didn't know me and little did he know was that I've had a rough month and picking up these fish is just what I needed and gave me some serenity and a little joy. Marcus thank you for being a professional human being. PETCO, I hope you know what a gem you have of an employee with Marcus. Though you can tell he really enjoys working in the aqua department, he really is management material. You want to keep this guy! Thanks for another great experience at your Kaneohe store. The worker paged for a manager a 2nd time and you hear him shout "I'm coming grace" and as soon as he gets to the register he made a snarky comment like "you know grace it takes a while to get up here". Groomers Amber & Rayna did wonderful jobs on both my dogs, Redford and Buttons. Both are mini dachshunds and were in need of a good shave as their coats had some matting and they hadn't had a good grooming since we moved here back in June. I called other dog groomers around, but they were either booked all the way through end of April, or some never even replied or called me back. I guess they weren't interested and have enough business. Lucky for Petco! The pricing was reasonable for bathing, clipping their nails, expressing, and shaving them. They were both so dirty and afterwards so clean and soft. I don't know what it is about grooming but after they get groomed both are super rambunctious like puppies! I guess they really enjoy it. I would definitely use Petco again in the future for my dogs' grooming needs. They weren't injured [no nicks or cuts], and their grooming was spot-on just like I requested.
