They are very generous with the samples for the dogs too! Which is great because my dog is very picky, and there are only a few things he actually is motivated to eat. The staff here is very sweet and you can tell that they really really care about your dogs. They even have daycare / overnight care services. Walked out with the plants...a brand new Paludarium and then some. The customer service here is phenomenal. George and Ryan were so helpful and knowledgeable, patiently helped us pick out our merch and gave us advice on problems we had run into. They are laid back and very personable, and funny, almost like we knew them for a long time! But everyone there were super nice and had a great attitude. Making this experience across the island so memorable. The store selection is also something to admire, they have a little bit of everything from small reptiles to dogs in such a small space (compared to a big box store). Definitely had to grab a few upgrades for our dogs and cats. But the fish area was the one place I was very impressed with. Everything they had was so clean and healthy! (Also very reasonably priced. ) The bettas were even housed in their own separate tanks and not in those small tiny plastic cups. Didn't seem stressed at all and just chilled, which was so nice to see. Definitely worth the trip from Kaneohe. Don't know anything about the "smell" mentioned in earlier reviews because there wasn't one, not even the pet store kind that's expected. On the subject of earlier reviews, as far as service goes - it was busy since it was a Saturday and no one was rude or unhelpful to us considering we came in a big group with teens and kids, an age range famously known for wandering around with zero spacial awareness for others. They could have been annoyed or impatient about that alone, but they were accommodating given the size of the store. One staff member entertained my kid-sister's questions and requests while simultaneously helping others and cleaning the tanks. An example for you. For being a local family owned business since the 80s, I don't think over-the-top service is necessary. But I have a soft spot for small local business owners, so what do I really know? They keep the community alive. It gives them their own character. I doubt a 3 or less star review would negatively impact these long standing businesses anyway. But that's because I live in reality. I'll be returning every other Tuesday after they've acclimated/quarantined the last weeks new shipments. The location beats having to go Kalihi or Town if you live in nearby neighborhoods. I wanted to know more about an unlabeled and unpriced freshwater plant that somewhat resembles seaweed, so the buff dude grabbed a handful to show to the cashier lady at the front. The buff dude was attentive and personable throughout my visit, and did his best to answer questions about the fish, which I appreciated. The cashier lady though, she mumbled a name but I don't think she knew the plant that well and didn't write it down either. What she was somehow very sure about was the price, lol... just plainly stated the price for a clump is $7.99, though the tank of plants above it were organized in much neater clumps, and advertised at $5.99 each. Not only that, she had to step down from the cashier box to get her hands wet, and manually separate the handful of plant that the man grabbed. Started as a healthy, natural looking clump that would fit nicely in an 8 oz container, and she tore it in half. So, now it's small enough that it fits in the palm of your hand! Did she think to wash her hands first after handling cash and coins all morning? Nahh... But she was very insistent to him that he was definitely (and arbitrarily) holding two clumps, not one! She knew I wanted to buy it, and I'd already got a few pricier fish in my cart, so I guess she felt I could afford to cough up an extra few bucks. Yeah can, just don't think that I don't notice the grubbing... Business goes on as usual. I called around to get them groomed. Two places flat out refused to groom them because they are chows. When I contacted Maikai via yelp, Lita was agreeable to get them groomed and scheduled my appointment. The appointment day and time came and no groomer showed up. I called Lita who told me she'd find out what happened. She called me back within half hour and let me know the groomer got bitten at the previous appointment and wasn't able to make it. She offered to reschedule the appointment and we did. I wasn't there for the rescheduled appointment and was worried my dogs would be temperamental since they never been groomed by an outsider, but it was my husband who got temperamental since he didn't understand what needed to be done. My mom was there to alleviate concerns and told me the groomer did the best she could. Because they were matted, the only option was a shave. My mom said the groomer took her time and really cared about her work. After the grooming was done, I received a call from Lita who discussed with me how the grooming went. I appreciate the call since I couldn't be there and I'm the primary caregiver to my boys. I give them five stars because 1. They took my boys in when other places wouldn't, 2. My mom said the groomer took care in grooming them, 3. Lita was professional in communication, 4. They're chows chows, not the easiest breed to groom because of fur and temperament, 5. They came to the house which made it easier to handle my boys. I hope to use them again in the future, but with my boys fur in better shape the next time around.

Lalita and April came promptly at 530 if not a couple minutes early. They dont have a mobile truck so they do use your yard to do their services, but thats not a problem because it made Lilo feel even more comfortable at home. As Lalita and April began Lilo immediately took to both of them n they were able to get to work. She got a basic service of a bathe, nail clipping, and ear cleaning. Lilo enjoyed every minute of it. They also mentioned that not only do they have house sitting, they do drop in services if ur on vacation as well:). You best believe I will be calling them again for Lilo's SPA treatment as ii called it:))) Give them a try you wont be disappointed:))
