I like this Petco location because it's small and friendly. I usually go here when I need to pick up one or two items. I've never had a problem with the selection, although the store is quite smaller than a lot of other pet stores I've gone to. I have never used the grooming here, as I have a groomer down the street. But each time I've come, they've been swamped with grooming appointments! The location is great and the atmosphere is clean. It appears all the animals are kept up with -- which can't be said in other store locations. I like to look at the birds, reptiles and so forth. If I could make one change, it'd probably just be more sales! haha I love a good deal. They will match PetSmart and they will match their website. read more

Visited here the other day, mainly because it's close to my house, and convenient, but also because they had the dog food I was looking for, advertised online, for $43.99. That is comparable to the usual price I pay, from their main big box pet store competitor, which is located in San Marcos, and Souf Austin. I located the brand, and size I desired, which is exactly what I looked up online, at petco.com, and it was $61.99, in the store!! What the heck???? In addition, nobody greeted me upon entering the store, approached while I was shopping, or was even available to inquire about the price discrepancy. I walked out, and drove to their competitors store, and got what I needed for approx. $52.00 with tax! The lack of customer service, along with unreasonable pricing, will be keeping me far away from here. read more

These guys just rock. The wife's freaking out over tape worms. It's 8:30 at night; half an hour before closing. They spent 10 minutes guiding my wife through the options over the phone, had the product waiting for me up front, but walked me through the options too and then to boot, they price matched the item which was full price in the store but 50% off on their website. Great service, but especially since it was just a little bit before their closing time when I know they are busy trying to get the store ready so they can get out of there. We purchased a ball python snake here in February. We were told she was raised (thus far) on frozen pinky mice. Well, that clearly was not the case. After three weeks and over 8 attempts to feed, we had to go live and she ate immediately. Obviously raised on live. Secondly. Now that we have to come in for live, have her scheduled to eat on Sundays and it is soooo frustrating every time. This store is constantly under staffed and it has taken over 1/2 hour and 3 attempts to "paige" for help before we can get anyone to help us in the small animal area. One of the worst pet stores I've been to in Austin surrounding area, either the staff plays hind and go seek or they have one employee for the whole store. Took my dog in for grooming, female with the nose ring and collar on told us the dog bath would be 40 bucks while pointing down at the additional extras to incorporate into the bath. I said 40 bucks not bad for a basic bath and asked her to bath my dog. They did an excellent job bathing my filthy lab but the attendant that helped me was very misleading with the pricing. When I asked about it she first said it was tax. 40 dollar tax??? Are you stupid? Then she retracted her story and pointed at the pricing sheet which has absolutely nothing about a base 40 dollar bathing cost and told me yea you asked for this which is extra. After letting her know that was terrible sales service practice misleading customer like that she pushed my receipt back and said sorry about that with zero emotion and went back to looking at her computer screen in silence. Terrible employee and I feel I should be getting my 40 bucks extra *fancy charge* back due to misleading staff. In a time of absolute certainty about a deadly pandemic and the very simple measure we can all take to protect ourselves and others, EVERY SINGLE cashier yesterday, Tuesday 08/18/20, had his/her mask below their nose. I wouldn't take advise on the benefits of a freebie from someone that fails at basic breathing abilities. And to their management, not only did I not see any sanitizer available when I visited a few weeks ago, but I also learned the masks provided are cheap and loosen up quickly. SHAME ON YOU. Despite the condition the dog came in - one would think the dog would leave w/out fleas! Groomer was very rude, communication was an issue. When I told her the longest cut possible she said NO SHORT!!!! I said why...he is matted SHORT. Ok I got over that- Jessie would just take care of him. Our dog looked back at me like "help" when i had to leave him. He looks forward to seeing Jessie! We've been a loyal customer of Jessie's at Petco- she's treated our pet like her own. Unfortunately Jessie is not at work at the moment. Our dog had to be groomed by someone else and it was a terrible experience/service. Love going here for my dog, very convenient and fair priced. My problem is their phone service. I had some grooming questions and have been on the phone for 20 minutes without anyone answering. I have been transferred on hold repeatedly without talking to anyone in the store. I just had a few simple question I wanted to ask before bringing in my dog and yet cannot get someone on the phone to answer. Besides that my service here is great but you can't ignore people on the phone. If this continues I'll have to take my business somewhere that cares. read more

The grooming salon is horrible with bad service and groomers don't know how to interact with your furry friend. I went in to get a nail trim for my dog and the groomers were lazy and gave every reason as to why they couldn't trim my dogs nails. The first day I went in the groomers were all on weight restrictions and since my dog is 42 lbs they turned me away and I was told to come back a different day. I returned back the following day and asked if they could call zippy vet to get his rabies vaccine info. They couldn't find the number so I found for them and they ended up being closed so I was like ok kool , than I found his vaccines on my phone and thier faces dropped like oh god I'm gonna have to work. This time they said my puppy was acting aggressive and I have the sweetest dog ever. These so called groomers are very unprofessional and lazy and will look for anything to turn you away. Went to take my new kitty to get his vaccines. It was easy to go in on a Saturday and the wait wasn't bad at all, compared to petsmart (which was a week), and emancipet (4 hours). The shots and test was affordable and the employees sweet and knowledgeable! Totally recommend this approach to anyone who needs to get their animal vaccinations! read more

I took my 2 Pomeranians and Ana took care of them. They went for grooming and the results were fantastic. I told her what I wanted and this lovely lady did beyond my expectations. Groomers are great! My Joey does very well here! The price is spot on. He gets a bath, a de shedding treatment, nails ears and breathe done , pads massaged and oiled. He has a regular spa day! Comes home happy and relaxed! Most times with a cool bag of treats or new bandana! I won't go anywhere else! I'm super picky so that says a lot! read more

I received a note on my front door from one of my neighbors complaining about my 5 month old Corgi barking too much so I headed up to Petco without knowing what I was really looking for. One of the staff members who turned out to be one of trainers educated me on several options to control barking and went with her recommendation on one of the PetSafe collars and it worked like a charm! I've gotta admit that over the past couple of months I have been taking my dogs to other places to try and finder a better deal, a cheaper bottom line. Yeah, I may have saved a couple dollars but at the expense of having to deal with rude, inept and dumbass people, who I just don't trust my dogs with. I came back to the Kyle store to pick up some dog food and to schedule my dogs. Cecilia was there with a warm smile, and her bright cheerfullness, who expressed ligitimate concern and asked for my dogs by name and told me that she had missed them. I could barely remember this chicks name, but no, She recognized my face, and remembered both of my dogs by name! So after chatting (me lying) about why I hadn't brought them in, She got me scheduled for the very next day! I mean, holy shit, who is that confident in their ability to know that they can get 3 difficult dogs done in such a tight timeframe. One of which she had never even worked with. Doubting her, and in disbelief, I agreed. The following day, I brought All 3 of my dogs into the KYLE store. Cecilia again there to greet me, and the other 2 girls in the back working with other dogs already on the table. ALL of them lit up to see my 3 crazy fur kids. We checked in Sugar and Saute, But when we tried to get Brown Butter checked in, he was nervous and uneasy. Despite her warmth and friendliness, Brown Butter was having an attitude, she gave him treats, and stroked him, and calmed him down, but he just didn't want to go into the back. She didn't let it phase her, and wasnt intimidated or scared unlike many other people that i have dealt with in the past few months, so I took him back to the car with me. I explained to Cecilia that due to my recent auto accident, I was left in pain and without my strength I am unable to groom my dogs myself (completely true). She totally understood and took that piece of information to heart. Later that night when I came to pick up both my girls, I wasn't just shocked, not just amazed, but Awestruck of how fantastic of a job she did! I was speechless for how clean, and amazing and healthy their coats looked. Cecilia, and your team took both my filthy dogs who like to wrestle in the dirt and turned them into clean, beautiful, healthy dogs. There are no words for just how great she did. It is obvious that she is a person with purpose, and intuition, that takes pride in her work. She told me that she worked on them both herself, and there is no doubt in my mind that she didn't just go the extra mile, she went the extra marathon. I wish everyone could see the before and after of both my dogs. Sugar, my St. Bernard, has never looked this good or has been this healthy... ever I think. There are no words for how grateful, I am for all her extra work in completing what I told her I was after. Even the goody bags and toothbrushes that she sent us home with, which (at first) I thought was just a corporate cliche, she turned into genuine gift, with heartfelt instructions on how to brush teeth and encourage rewards. There are no words for the gratitude i feel towards your Kyle team, and I can't thank Cecilia enough for taking care of the most important family on this Earth to me, Especially when I physically can't do it myself until I recover. I feel like an idiot for ever going to other places. But now, You have my unwavering loyalty, and I am now your biggest advocate. Everyone in the local Veteran community, as well as everyone at my job, and everyone at Texas State that I interact with, Everyone will know just how great your Kyle store is, And I hope everyone I send is lucky enough to get Cecilia and experience your grooming team. We went to petco Kyle location and we were immediately stopped at the front and told we had to come in with masks so we went out to go get a mask from our car. As we shopped we noticed the same employee who stopped us, a short hispanic male, seemed to be talking with some friends of his, two girls and a guy in a red shirt, looking at fish. The guy in the red shirt wasn't even wearing his mask correctly, he had it under his chin. The employee was not wearing his mask properly either, he didn't have his nose covered. At one point neither one of them were wearing their mask but when the employee saw me looking at him he put his mask back on. I then I followed him to the cash register and asked why hasn't he told the guy that he's helping to wear his mask correctly? And you're standing right there and he has a completely off Then he began to be rude , and sayin oh my god your really gonna make a big deal about this I said he needed to follow the health orders , he then turned and walked away , it was about 6:20-25 pm Saturday June 2020 they were looking at fish and I hope this gets addressed because it's not following health standards of what you have posted on your door and what he was telling us and he's not following directions himself his customer service needs help , and needs help following health procedures posted on front door and standing by healths standards, read more

I brought my dog in to get her nails clipped. I stood at the grooming counter and looked at the glass at two groomers, neither of which acknowledged me. it took one of the groomers a bit of time to come out as after she saw I was standing at the counter she then picked up another dog and placed it in a crate. I had no idea if she was going to come out or not. When she did she looked at the proof of rabies vaccination from my vet's office and said it had expired in 2016. The vaccine is a 3 year vaccine and I had to insist she call my vet to confirm it would not expire until 2018. My dog does not go to groomers often, and I have been to Dirty Dog, PetSmart and other facilities and they are always willing to clip her nails on the floor as she has a fear of being up on the table. The Petco Groomer said no. I asked if she could bring the clippers out in front and cut her behind the counter on the floor. No. Okay Petco, you have lost my business. read more

I frequent the saltwater selection which is no specialty store by any means, but has random fish and corals that have met my needs and they are willing to make an order for me if there are specific items I require. I find Rand and the staff very knowledgeable and always goes the extra mile to help out. All livestock I've purchased since almost 2 years ago are still alive and healthy! read more

I've been noticing that within the past 2 visits the store appears "dirty". Now I understand that pets walk in and may have the occasional accident, but the pee has been left on the floor to dry (owner probably needs to be more responsible, but someone in the store also needs to be walking around to notice). There are cobwebs hanging on the price tag holders and merchandise that is left on the floor. I believe management just needs to be more vigilant and aware of the appearance of this store. read more

One of the most terribly run grooming services I have ever been to. Been a few times and there was no groomer there for the day, so they were just turning away business. Been another time where they said someone was a few hours late so they weren't doing any grooming yet. Today I went and none of my information was in the system despite having been there several times. I called before I went in to see if I could set appointments and was told they don't do appointments, just come by whenever. Then when I'm in there a woman comes in that had a scheduled appointment. Another woman got turned away because they didn't have enough staff to take walk ins. Won't be going back. read more

My dog was groomed on Saturday November 7 at the Petco Kyle location. For starters, I got a "FULL SERVICE" grooming package...They still charged me for an extra service package of $10.00. I was not told that this was going to charged. So really, the "FULL SERVICE" grooming package is not FULL SERVICE. I tried to talk to an employee but could not seem to get someone to speak with as they are under staffed and all "too busy". They just seem to want to get you out of the store as fast as they can. I was also not reviewed on all was done on my dog. At which time I could have told them that she was shaved much shorter than I had requested and I was unhappy. I was not told that if I was not satisfied, I would receive my grooming for free. Basically I walked in and was handed my dog and was told "have a nice day" and they walked back into the salon. SO UNPROFESSIONAL. I have NEVER had any of this happen at Petsmart. Also, no one called me to tell me my dog was done. I had to call myself and check on her at which I was told "oh yeah she is done, you can come get her". SO HOW LONG WAS MY DOG WAITING??? I have never been so unsatisfied with an expiernece. Do not bring you dog to Petco for grooming! P.S. I only gave this 1 star because it wouldn't let me give it 0 stars. read more

This store has a great location, clean pet-friendly environment, and an awesome atmosphere comprised of knowledgeable and helpful staff. We had just adopted a new dog from San Marcos and stopped by Petco for some supplies on the way home towards Buda. We received great advice for puppy food and dog obedience training if we were interested. Virginia at the register was extremely knowledgeable and professional in helping us get an animal tag printed, all while helping us ensure we got everything else we needed for our new fur baby. Our experience with the store staff was excellent. The only thing I'd change is the pricing. I always hear about the high prices on products at this store, and we confirmed it on today's visit. However, not a big deal, as it was balanced out by the positive points mentioned earlier in this post. read more

This is with out a doubt THE worst Petco I have been to. I have had nothing but problems with Petco in a few different locations over the last few years, but the Kyle, Tx location takes the cake for being the worst and for finally pushing my business elsewhere! The biggest problem I have at this location is with their grooming! They NEVER have enough help! Petco was great before because they offered walk-in based individual grooming services. I take my dog there to have his nails trimmed and buffed, and his ears cleaned; all walk-in services they offer! I have even been told by them in the past to not make a reservation for small services as such! However, the last two times I have brought my dog in for these services they don't have any groomers available; literally not even in the store or they're on lunch! And by which they will tell you, "Oh! We can call you when they come back." So inconvenient for your customers, especially without a waiting area. My question is, why don't you have better scheduling in place and have more groomers available for the customers who are using your walk-in services??? Because when there aren't any groomers, you really don't technically offer walk-in based services! Not to mention all of my visits have either been on Friday or Saturday; where many people are off work. You should absolutely be better staffed for these days. The city of Kyle is only getting bigger and busier, and this location unfortunately will not be able to keep up. Shame on me for giving them multiple opportunities to change my mind! read more

The very worse experience I have ever had in pet grooming and that is saying a lot since I have had my dog groomed in 3 states NY CA and TX....The don't keep groomers there for very long....They nicked my dog in the face making her skittish about grooming and they also said that my 16 year old shttzu was too old to groom....I have NEVER had a problem at all with a groomer......bad place read more

I like petco. The people are friendly and I shop here about twice a month for dog/cat supplies. I agree with the Julie and I would not buy fish here. The fish we bought were diseased and hurt the rest of our tank. I'm sure I could have gotten my money back or new fish but it wasn't worth it for me. Everything else is good though. read more

At the check out Christina ask me if I found everything ok. I said I did not find the dog treats I was look for that I always buy. She offer to order them for me. She logged on to petco.com and and found the item I was looking for, then gave me the I-pad and told me to log on and order the product. I said I do not have my user name and password to petco.com. Can you order or transfer the item to the store and I will just pickup. She said she cant do that. In the past this store was able to get items from the Austin area transferred for me. She claimed that that they will not let her do that! I asked to speak with a Manager, she claimed to be the manager. I gave up at this point and purchased my items. Later I called the number on the receipt explained what happen, they apologized said the district manager will call me back within 48 hours. That never happen.. read more

Just spent 30 minutes trying to get them to answer the phone. First call---waited on hold 10 minutes then hung up on me. Second call----waited 5 minutes then they picked up the phone, did not answer and just set it down! I could hear all the transactions at the register but they never picked up the phone again. Third call---5 minutes on hold never answered. Very frustrating when all I needed was a simple answer regarding dog grooming prices. I live in Kyle and it would be very convenient to use this business but I think I'll drive a little and avoid the frustration. read more

Use caution when scheduling grooming services at this location. We scheduled an appt for our dog to get groomed. We do not like for our dog to go in the kennel, so we scheduled the appt as a "zoom groom" which means the dog is brought straight to the grooming area and then can be taken home immediately after. We were called the day after booking the appt and told that they could not schedule "zoom grooms" on the day we selected and that they had to reschedule the appt. I explained to the store employee that we both work M-F and weekends were our only option to come in. She said they never schedule "zoom grooms" on the weekend. I asked the employee why the appt was scheduled (on a Sunday) in the first place, and she was not helpful and was not able to come up with an explanation. We have had multiple other issues with the grooming department in this location. Their staff lacks organization and professionalism. If I could give 0 stars, I would. read more

First of all It's not nice to call People Weird, we're all weird in one way or another. Normal is BORING!!! The staff at the Kyle Petco are really nice and very helpful. They are always eager to help. I have a 46 gallon Saltwater reef and everything i have purchased from there is still alive and thriving. They special order anything i want and have found their prices well within the reasonable price range if not cheaper than at other stores. In fact i just ordered a special fish and i can't wait till it arrives. read more
