I took my dog in yesterday for grooming and compared to the Indio petco the la Quinta petco did a horrible job. His paws and his ears were still dirty when I picked him up. His nails weren't buff out and it seems like they were in a rush. read more

We scheduled an appointment to have our 15 pound dog washed, groomed and his nails clipped. They asked us when we called if he had any medical conditions that they needed to be aware of. We stated that he has a collapsed trachea which is controlled with medication. They told us that wasn't a problem and to bring him in. We took our dog to Petco at the time of our scheduled appointment. When we arrived they asked if he had any medical conditions. We explained to the girls that he had a collapsed trachea but that his condition was well controlled with medication. They proceeded to tell us that they could not groom our dog due to his medical condition. We explained that we were told by the person we spoke to on the phone that his medical condition would not be a problem. But they stated that they couldn't groom our dog. We were open and honest with these people and were told that our dogs medical condition would not be an issue and after driving 16 miles, round trip, we could not get our dog groomed. Clearly these people don't know what they are doing. I guess $15/hr doesn't buy what it use to. read more

Always a great visit. The staff are always very helpful and extremely friendly. It is common for employees to go out of their way in order to help by looking for an item or offering sound advice. I bring my dogs in often and even meeting new employees it is evident they all have a genuine love for animals. Pricing and selection are excellent as well. read more

The worst petco in the valley, (not talking about the grooming side of it) some of the employees were extremely rude every time I went there. They have terrible customer service, no one seems to want to help you in the store and the manager doesn't seem to mind how his employees treat customers. Decided to just stop going to that one altogether and was never treated that way at any of the other Petcos here in the valley. read more

I didn't want to give up on this place as its close to home and they do an OK job but today convinced me to find another groomer. Alexandra called to tell me "Beau" was very matted and would require extra time, etc. I find that hard to believe as I brush him every night. He is almost 8 years old...half Maltese and half Yorkie. He has been going at least once a month, since birth, to the former groomer and she never once said there was a problem. When they make up stuff and add lots of extra charges, that's when I say "Bye Bye". Just another thing to sort out since I moved from the other end of the valley....otherwise I would have never left "Grooming With Love"!!! read more

I give no stars because I ended up not using the grooming "salon". When I arrived for my dogs scheduled appointment I waited for over 10 minutes with no one in site. I called out and no one was there. While waiting I looked through the windows into the grooming area, which was dark and empty except for a filthy disgusting mess! There was dog hair all over the floor and some tables and about a dozen dirty cotton balls on the floor. The cotton balls were most likely used for ear cleaning and tossed, but missed, toward the open garbage can. I was so sick to my stomach the more I looked and went to the cashier and told her that no one was there for my appointments and I would not be leaving my dogs there. I told her why and that someone needed to go see how filthy and disgusting it was and do something about it. Never again! read more

Had a great experience with Caitlyn in the grooming salon, who cut and buffed the nails of my mom's two small dogs. She was very helpful.

I came into this store on my way to pick up my first dog ever. The staff was so helpful and knowledgeable. I've been back multiple times since then, including the grooming salon, and the staff remembers my dog and asks about him and how he's doing. They're great here. read more

Called Petco the day before and they were able to fit my two (large) dogs in the next day for grooming. Nadia (I hope I got that right) was so sweet! She took her time and called me to tell me that they were going to spend some extra time on my older dog because she has arthritis and they wanted to handle her with care. She helped me walk them to the car which no one at any other place has offered to do. This place is great!! Happy customer and definitely going back! :) read more

A wonderful pet store! Jonathan Aguilar is not only knowledgeable, helpful and available but is genuinely in love with animals! A non-profit organization, "Pretty Good Cat" a no kill shelter and adoption service provides animals for adoption here. Tina and Jonathan Miller are AMAZING, caring people with a true, honest heart for lost, abandoned, rescued felines. The store is clean and well organized and prices are competitive. In my opinion, merchandise is displayed more appealing than at Petsmart. This store is always my #1 choice for anything pet related. read more

Just picked up my two Goldens from the groomer, they look fantastic! The girls in the salon are super friendly and make you feel welcome, today was Alexandra and she was so nice. I've taken the one golden there before and had the same great experience. For both dogs to get a full bath with the works (no hair cut) was about $80, very reasonable if you ask me. I prefer Petco for grooming versus Petsmart as they are very pushy and not so friendly at the latter. But my reason for 4 and not 5 stars is I do prefer to do my shopping at other stores for food and other supplies. They also seem to run put of crickets often here which we feed our fat tailed gecko. If this was a review of the just the grooming salon I would definitely give it it the full 5 stars! read more

I usually don't come to this petco as I love the one in Indio. I came for some food and batteries. Cassandra was super helpful and nice, then I encountered Mauricette and she is the reason I will never be back. She refused to price match, said they operate differently and was completely rude. I told her I had ten cans of dog food all the same, She stated she has to ring up every can of food cause I might steal a can. What?! I then needed crickets and after I paid she headed to the back like she was getting them. She came back with no crickets and tells me I have to move my cart outside the doors until my crickets come up front. I told her it was hot and I wasn't standing outside. She gave me a dirty look. As I was waiting, she helped another customer who's order wasn't ringing up properly. Instead of going to get a different item to ring up, she made the customer go get it!!! She saw I had two carts of food and never offered help to my car! I will never come back to this petco again! read more

Took both dogs to be groomed. Charged extra $30 for "de-shedding" on top of $30 per dog for basic shampoo. Both dogs had diarrhea. Filthy facility and incompetent groomers. Avoid. read more

I was a bit disappointed today in the customer service I received. I needed some help looking for dog boots. Their selection was picked over and I wanted to know if they had any more available. I found a woman and said "excuse me" twice. She ignored me. I think she wanted me to just go away. She continued cleaning a bird cage. I stood there with my dog and waited for her to finally answer me. I felt treated like a little kid! Ignored until it was convenient for her. She immediately told me that was all they had. Really? She kept asking me what style I wanted and I said I don't care...i just want something in a small. Still she asked me again what style. It was like she wasn't listening to me. She told me to try another petco. I put back everything in my cart and left. read more

Today I will walk in with my 5lb Chihuahua, Inca Dog to get her nails cut. with out an appointment again, like I have done for the last 9 1/2 years.. So sorry my friends at Pet-Co. And from experience over these years I know I will be treated as nice as possible with all that is going on. My first Chihuahua, Maya Dog had two titanium knee implants witch they were very careful not to hurt her legs. Petco took care of her needs in the last 4 years of her life with no issues. CeCe Loca was my third chihuahua, a blue one, very "schizo", now she and I had issues, Petco and CeCe no problems , almost 8 years at this store. Now inca Dog is a chihuaahua ( dog ) of course, she was used as a Hacky Sack no more than 5-6 weeks old.Animal Samaritans said all her baby teeth had to be removed at 5 mo.s because they were all broke and would cause her new teeth to rot, she uses three legs because of a beating at that time.. Sorry for all that... But here is my point. if they were mean to me or my dogs I would know in a sec. 9 going on 10 years not one problem. and I miss some of the people that have moved on. I have seen several times PEOPLE , CUSTOMERS acting like they should be sent to Obedience School, Rude, Loud, Scary.! And by the look in most of there animals eyes, I think there pet was embarrassed . ok . no more coffee. but I had to stand up for these people who do such a great job, thank you Daniel B Teegarden Palm Desert, Ca. read more

Horrible first haircut for a newly adopted terrier mix. Gave photos and extensive directions, then they returned him shaved and with shaggy clipper cuts all over. It will take months for this cut to grow out and at $60 totally not worth it. Go to a referral site and find a well reviewed groomer. read more

Reptile section was sad to look at. The reptile designated employee let me look at a couple of animals. First, the ball pythons had mites, which he knew about yet was still ready to sell them. There were also crickets in their enclosure which is a big no no as they will bite the snakes. Then the leopard geckos and bearded dragons were on sand. As anyone with a tiny bit of proper care knowledge of these animals knows, there is a high risk of imp action and other ailments that can occur when they are improperly kept on loose substrate. In one of the leopard gecko cages there was also two juvenile/sub-adult geckos. One of them was a male and the other was a female. The male will try to breed the premature female which will result in egg binding or other fatal consequences. After presenting all these problems, the employee simply shrugged it off and looked as though he had better things to do and eventually passively walked away. Fortunately, most experienced reptile keepers know to never buy reptiles from petco or petsmart because of their low quality, overpricing, lack of proper care, and high chance of the animals carrying diseases that will cause them to die early or worse, infect your other pets. Unfortunately, most people that visit these stores are new or inexperienced keepers and the employees will pass off their improper care methods and poor health animals into them. Not many people may be interested in reptiles, but supporting this company in any way, is supporting the continued mistreatment and improper care of these animals. A true animal lover loves all animals and would not support a company that unnecessarily dangers their animals. Until they impose adequate care for their reptiles by properly training their employees, I feel no true animal lover should support them by shopping there. read more
