Tonight I came in to pick up some chew sticks and poop bags for my dog and the shelves were practically empty! I've never seen a pet store this empty. After I found the bags I was looking for for I went to the register and had to wait about 4 minutes for an employee to show up. This was around 815pm. I see they have a help wanted sign but the level of service and selection of merchandise really needs some work.. I'd stick to Petsmart right around the corner! read more

This is the filthiest Petco I've ever been to. The animals are all in terrible shape. There's a hairless Guinea pig with a very bad eye infection and seemed very low energy, I'm sure it has a bacterial infection that is spreading. I brought it to the employees attention and her response was "wow really" they're obviously not checking up on these animals if she didn't notice. Too busy gossiping with the rest of the employees. The cages haven't been cleaned at all. They're sitting in there own feces, feces in the food bowls. This can't be legal. If you're going to run a business selling animals hire people that will actually take proper care of them. Whoever manages this location should be ashamed of themselves letting animals live in those conditions. Just close down the store. read more

It has been a long time since I have used Petco's Grooming service because of a very bad exp many years ago. So I decided that since years have past since that issue and it was at a different location I would give this location a try. Last week I call and booked a grooming appointment for my dog. When I get there they inform me that who ever took the booking put it down as a bath and not grooming. In the back of my mind I am thinking are you kidding me. I don't need her to get a bathed since I do that myself I needed her to get groomed. Of course that can't do that because of their schedule so instead of taking my anger out of them I walked out. So what that just taught me was to only use them to get my dog food and use one of the many grooming business that there are in Las Vegas instead of Petco since nothing seems to have changed with their incompetence. It is just upsetting that I decided to give them a try again only to have them F up again. Plus I wasn't going to push them to groom her anyways because of their mess up only to have them end up hurting my dog which is what one of their groomers did years ago at a different location. So if you need to get you dog groomed I encourage you to use one of the many small grooming business in Las Vegas since they are a better fit. read more

My pups love visiting this store with me! I wanted to share information on the thunder shirt for all pet owners who have issues with their dogs on days like this where the weather can turn on you in just a few mins. One of my dogs gets very stressed out when it rains or thunders so this thunder jacket has really saved us from higher stress levels. It's a snug & soft jacket like product and my dog feels so much better with it on. I'm so grateful for this thing & it really does work. It also comes in every size and believe me that your pup will thank you for it. This store has a great variety of products and I find the prices to be reasonable. There's also a great treat buffet area for a lot of delicious varieties of treats and plenty of samples for your fur babies. I took my small papillon mix for her very first grooming here. I was greeted with a smile by Brookelynn who was very attentive and professional. She took the time to go over what kind of cut/style I wanted. My dog was so scared, but Brookelynn and the other team members were so gentle and reassuring with her. This review is on their grooming only. Even though I'm a huge fan of Barking Dogs which is just a few miles up the road from this Petco. I took my toy schnauzer here today to be groomed. I'm not gonna lie, my pup was looking rough. He hadn't been groomed in months and spent the entire weekend hiking in the desert. He had a ton of knots and his hair was super dry. When first meeting the groomer, Amanda, she went over exactly what needed to be done. She made sure to explain that some of these knots might need to be cut off (rather than brushed out) as they were, well, knots. Bad ones. She also made sure to tell me how many dogs were in the back and what kind of conditions my pup would be groomed in. My favorite part is when she told me that she's incredibly meticulous, so the grooming might take a while. She couldn't have said anything better. Oh, and the pricing was reasonable and well worth it. I paid around $69.00 for the spa package, which included washing, deep conditioning, grooming, teeth cleaning, mouth cleaning, ear cleaning, nail trim, etc. She did an incredible job. When arriving to pick up my dog, he seemed so calm and was very relaxed while she was holding him. Typically, he's a little shaken up, super excited to see me and is jumping out of the groomers arms to get to me, but this time, he just looked totally content. It was adorable. Needless to say, his cut was perfect and his hair was super soft. His teeth, ears and nails were all clean and trimmed, as well. Amanda explained how all went, complimented my dog and was just all around super nice. The second coolest part, is that she packed a cute little to go bag full of goodies for my boy. Cookies, a big bag of treats, her contact info along with her schedule and a cute little clover necklace chain. (I attached a picture of these goodies) Super cute addition! We are so thrilled that our dog Scooby finally met the most patient n amazing dog groomer in this petco outlet. The groomer name is Tiegen n she is also the manager in the grooming department ! We were anxious n delayed sending scooby to another petco shop after our recent bad experience at petco along Tropicana / Apache ! We brought our dog to the Tropicana petco n the groomer literary waited no tiñe n yankee scooby by his collar abruptly n impatiently ! Despite us informing the grommet that he is always nervous n once the groomer warmed up he will be fine! Of course we did not trust that petco groomer n left the store furious ! Today we tried this let o by at warm spring/ Durango ! Tiegen was super patient n listened as I told her abt our recent bad experience n his traumatized scooby hv been ! I made the schedule for a specific time and they changed it without asking. My dad took in our dog to get a hair cut and a nail grind. We specifically told the groomer, Eva, that we wanted her head to be teddy bear shaped. Also to round her hair nails so she wouldn't scratch. We pick her up and her head is flat at the top...nothing shaped like a teddy bear. Her nails werent even trimmed. She said our dog bit her but still wanted to charge for the nail grind which she didnt do. I specifically booked a hair cut and nail grind ONLY. The total went from like $54 to $70. For some reason I feel like this Petco location is better than others, just seems cleaner, better staff, etc. We saw signs for an event called Puppy Playtime, so we went, they don't have it regularly but keep an eye on their Facebook page for announcements. Only one other puppy showed up, but they had fun together and Claire the dog trainer was great with them. Free treats, off leash play in a secure area, and attempting to tire out your puppy is well worth the trip. There was a dog adoption going on as well, so there were lots of dogs around to socialize with before and after playtime. Be sure to sign up for a Petco card to increase your savings! read more

Big shout out to Alex, believe he is a manager at this location. We were trying to find a brother for our ferret at home, and wanted to check out every Petco on our side of town. Alex was by far the nicest employee at all the Petcos. He greeted us and also had no problem letting us see the ferrets. Most Petcos give us a alittle bit of a hard time when we ask to hold them. Which we can understand because I'm sure they get asked 100x a day to hold the baby ferrets, so no offense to us. This location even had the ferrets cage set up correctly, so the ferrets can learn to use the restroom in the litter box, instead of the corner of their cages. Long story short, we took home a ferret from this Petco and couldn't be more pleased with him. He is already potty trained! Thanks Alex for helping us! If I could give ZERO stars I would. I have been having my dog groomed here for some time; averaging the same amount of time between appointments. He is a cockapoo and we have him shaved/groomed. Last Friday, I had an appointment for same service as I always do. The looked over my dog with me upon dropping him off, said he looked good to go. I leave and 5min later get a call that he is matted and they need to charge me more. Not sure how I wasn't advised of that when they looked him over. But, whatever, fine. Another 5 minutes go by and they call to advise that 'he is too matted, he has moles and they need to abort his service.' Like what the actual heck?! I pick up my dog and attached is how he looked. I took him home and trimmed his paws to his nail line(they absolutely could have done that) and they could have made him more even with the hack job shave they started and chose not to finish. I was pretty upset. I scheduled an appointment for him at another nearby, far more competent grooming salon who did the same thing, looked him over and then got started. I got a call that yes, he has some matting, but nothing that wouldn't allow them to work on him. And, yes, he has moles; the dog is 12 years old! They just had to be mindful accordingly. I called this petco to make an appointment specifically to get my dogs face shaped and ear hair trimmed along with getting her nails trimmed and buffed. I specifically said over the phone I wanted her face SHAPED and ear hair trimmed. The woman scheduled me for 2pm for today. We got there and the woman at the counter said we were late, which didn't make sense cus we got there at 1:55 and they were helping someone else, so by the time we got to the counter it was 2:01. She said our appointment was at 1:45. She then asked what we wanted done for the face and I said I wanted it rounded off and she cut me off to tell me that they don't do that unless they're doing a bath, that's all they could do was clean up her eyes. I said ok but was kind of annoyed that even though I specifically told the woman I talked to on the phone that I wanted my dog's face shaped they didn't tell me they wouldn't be able to do that. Then I asked if trimming her ears was included and she said no. She rang me up for a face feet and fanny trim and nail cut she buff. When I got my dog back she basically looks the same but with her nails shorter. All that was done on her face was the middle above her nose was trimmed, her butt didn't need to be trimmed because we've done that at home, and the hair on her feet doesn't look like it was touched at all. I feel like I wasted my money. I've been going to petco for years to get my dog groomed in California and never had this problem. This is the worst service I've ever got from petco and I'm never going to get my dog groomed here again. I am getting frustrated with the lack of/quality of meal worms at this store. It seems like every time I go there lately I open the meal work containers and instead of seeing fresh worms crawling around I see shells and dead worms. Last week my husband brought home a large container that was supposed to have 50 large worms but after my daughter counted them she only found about 20. Today I went and all the containers were dated 1/5 so I figured they would be fresh but when I opened them all they smelt gross and all but a few worms in each were dead. It was like they just wiped off an old date and put 1/5 so we would think it was fresh. It's disappointing since this store is right up the street from me and I come here a lot. I have been taking my dog here for a while, but have had more than one issue before with the grooming department. It seemed no one in there could ever cut my dogs hair correctly. Finally, Alex, one of the stylists there did an amazing job and I have made sure to make all my future appointments with her! She is great! HOWEVER, I took my dog in recently and she wasn't available, but he desperately needed a bath, so I had him go to someone else (I should've known better) and they did an AWFUL job! I don't understand how all the stylists in there can't all preform at the same standards. My dog is a Border Collie mix so, these dogs tend to have longer hair. I usually get him trimmed and on his last visit they completely BUZZED him!!! I was livid! They told me that was the haircut I had requested, but it was not! I have been getting him groomed for 4 years now and I think I know how I get his hair cut and I have NEVER BUZZED HIM! Everyone knows that once you buzz a dogs fur, it never grows back the same. You can even see by his head and tail how ridiculously short his hair was buzzed. Even IF that was what I wanted, how come no one called me to make sure knowing the type of breed my dog is? For the most part the exterior of the store is pretty clean, the first 20 ft into the store is pretty clean. It's behind the back isles, shelves and further into the store is where the lack of care and attention really show. Besides the two grooming empmoyees, a cashier is really tough to find. And when you do find one, they will be the only help not available to help you. God forbid you need to use the restroom, these will put your out house fears to rest once you walk through the door. I just got home from Petco and this is the third time this has happened. I should've known better and checked inside to make sure that there were worms, but I didn't because I was in a rush. Also while I was waiting for the engraving I was watching the one chick in the dog grooming room get angry at a dog she was trying to cut eye boogers from, this poor pup ovb was in pain and she was very rough. She was then brushing her long fur tail to the point where her whole body was sliding. The dog kept trying to move away and this chick would bite her lip and force the dog back. At one point she grabbed the dogs long ears and neck fur to hold it still. I would NEVER take my dogs here. Ever. The girl had short black hair and lip piercings, I also told her manager. Makes me very upset for this dog owner. Should have taken a video. Won't be coming back. Only giving 2 star because the manager was very caring and concerned about what I saw and said she would talk to this groomer. read more

I don't like admitting that I go to either of the two big box pet stores (you know who they are). That's why you only see one check-in for me, because I wasn't thinking. Now the secret's out! Okay, yes, I do prefer the SPCA et al for adopting our animals, but we have to get supplies somewhere, and online isn't always an option. (Like when I suddenly realize we just went through the last bag of dwarf hamster bedding and there's still one hamitat to clean. Oops.) Why am I down on admitting that I shop here? Because I'd rather not put money into stores that sell live animals when the staff doesn't know as much as I feel they should about said animals, and the store has no screening or interview process to help customers understand their responsibilities to their new pet. (Or the staff is afraid to touch the animals, which is too often the case with dwarf hamsters.) I'd also rather not give money to companies that operate stores where the animals are kept in dirty, unpleasant conditions. The last bit explains the time we did adopt two hamsters from a different Petco. I know, I know, buying the animals only encourages bad practices, but these critters were in such terrible circumstances I couldn't stand to leave them. That said, this is why no Petco store can ever get five stars from me, not while the company has these kinds of problems with quality control. But if you have to go to a Petco, I recommend this one. The staff has always been courteous and respectful of our input. Like, one time we went in and saw two hamsters shagging away. (I posted a video to Facebook, of course. Sometimes I wonder if my friends there really like me or if they're just using me as a gateway to rodent porn.) Anyway, we alerted the staff and they removed the female, isolated her for a few weeks, endured my calls about her every few days (if she became a momma, we were going to help with the re-homing), and then let me know when she was in the clear and back up for adoption. The staff also responded right away when I let them know their "display hamster" in a ball had zonked out. (Balls are cute, but it's not a great idea to keep hams away from their water and comfort zones when they're no longer having fun.) Compare that to situations at other stores where we've had lethargic or disinterested responses to empty water bottles, inadequate chew toys, injured animals, etc. (I swear we're never obnoxious about it. I want the situation fixed; I *don't* want to alienate the employee who has the power to fix it.) Also, this is the only store where I've handled a hamster and not had an employee say something about how the hamster creeps them out, is gross, is scary, etc. Prices at this Petco are pretty reasonable. (You can do better online for small animal stuff, but not so much better that you regret buying something here.) Unfortunately, both big chains have stopped selling many of the cool nooks and hideyholes you used to be able to get for small pets. These days it's all very limited; just the most basic and unattractive plastic stuff. However, all of the wheels nowadays are safe (solid floor), so that's progress. Petco also has a good variety of Carefresh and Kaytee bedding, although if you have geriatric pets (as I do), you might avoid that new Kaytee bedding that is like packing confetti as it doesn't give the critters much purchase for moving around. (We're going back to Carefresh Ultra.) Like many of the other stores, this Petco does have adoption days for local shelters, which is commendable. As I said, I can't give the company five stars. This isn't what a pet store should be. I can't even give them four stars, as I find their small animal provisions to be adequate but not great. But this location does get a very solid three stars, and maybe next time I'll even check in on purpose. read more

I love Petco! I left Petsmart and never looked back. Prices are reasonable, they have more of a variety of different treats. Plus, they're the only ones that carry my pups brand of food. I go to this petco often for dog and turtle food as it is right down the street from me. This was however the first time I took my dog in to have her nails cut and a bath. I'll start by saying the groomer was very sweet with my dog Quinn, who was pretty scared to leave me. She has attachment issues... they called me once to give me an update on Quinn's status which was nice. When I returned to pick quinn up she looked great smelled great and was in high spirits. She even had a new pink bandana around her neck. It was very reasonably priced as well. I was happy with the results and the care my dog was shown. I can't speak for other petcos, but this was was great. My only problem is I signed up for a membership card about 2 months ago and my number still isn't in their system which is annoying, no one wants to carry around another card let's be honest. read more

I have a 1 year old yorkie that was in need of a trim. I wanted just a trim of the face,legs,tail and a nail file. I was told the process would take 10 mins which first of all was a lie the whole thing took 25-30 mins. I had no problem coming back and allowing them to take their time, but telling me that it would only take 10 mins made them rush everything resulting in a poor outcome. Upon arrival i showed a photo of how i would like my yorkie too look like (i will insert before, what i asked for,and what i got). My yorkie came out looking like a hot mess. Her tail is all sorts of chopped up ,she has bald spots on top of her head, under her little jaw is also chopped up. She looked better when i brought her in then when i took her out. I wish I could give NEGATIVE STARS!!! This store only has 1 cart available for the entire store. Once it was addressed to the manager on duty (Melissa) looked at me and said very rudely "people steal our carts, there is nothing we can do about it".m, I immediately went to go shop for my items and call corporate regarding her lack of customer service & extreme disrespect regarding my concern about carts or lack there of. Fast forward to checking out she (Melissa) was helping a new employee check me out, she then threatened to throw me out the store, told me Petco will not do anything about my complaint and proceeded to put her hands in my husbands face to tell him to shut up after he answered her question. It was one of the most traumatic experiences I ever had in Petco. Unfortunately I feel that we were racially profiled as there were very little Black people in the store and from beginning to end she was bluntly rude and disrespectful the entire time. I mentioned that I feel racially profiled and her (Melissa) response was "my husband is black and laughed". Great store and location. Found exactly what I needed. Customer service was friendly in checking out. No complaints.

Went in at about 5pm on a weekday. When I 1st walked in, there were 4 or 5 staff members, all at the front, who were semi friendly and did greet us as we walked in the door. The place was almost deserted of customers(I guess now I know why) I 1st went to look at the fish. This shouldn't have been a problem, however they had 90% of the lights off in the fish tanks so you couldn't really see anything. Not sure if it was a mistake, to save power, or to hide the 1 or 2 dead fish that seemed to be in every tank. After 5 or 10 minutes a staff member finally walked by the fish area and I was able to get help. (I was there for shrimp, so the not being able to see the fish wasn't really a huge issue). I shopped around for another 10 or 15 minutes, and by the time I was done had probably around 20 items in my cart (Setting up a terrarium). I went to the cash register, where there was only 1 person ahead of me in line who had maybe 3 items. It started with her Petco card...she didn't have it and her info wouldn't pull up. The cashier gave her a new application, and instead of just scanning the new card while the customer filled it out, she stood and waited for it to be filled out in its entirety. This took at least 5 minutes as the filling out was interspersed with conversations about what happened to her points. After the cashier got all the info typed in, she started doing MORE searches for the customers lost info. Getting inpatient, I asked her to PLEASE call for another cashier or help. She did, and then continued to converse and look things up this one customer. By this time there's another customer standing behind me who'd also been there for quite a few minutes. Keep in mind that honestly, they only had about 4 customers in the store. 3 of us were in line. There were STILL 2 other staff members standing at the entrance, talking and laughing. The cashier was trying her hardest to avoid looking at me or the people behind me...I guess maybe even she realized that over 10 minutes in a line for 1 person was excessive. I finally walked out, telling the oh so sociable employees at the door that the service in that store was the worst I'd ever seen, and to get the shrimp back in the tanks before they died. Needless to say, I will NEVER shop at this location again. It's apparant that there is either NO manager, or a very, very poor one. Wouldn't be surprised to see this place close....and soon. read more
