First i would like to start off by saying the workers are horrible people, they treated me horrible, then asked for help from one of the managers they refused. I would also like to point out that the store is very dirty and unmanaged, the items were scattered and it was very hard finding half the items I was looking for. when I took my dog to get a wash, he somehow came out dirtier than when I had originally taken him in. DO NOT USE THE BATHROOMS, there was pee everywhere on the sink, toilet seat, and the toilet paper was soaked in pee. WORST PETCO IN MARYLAND. also would like to relapse on the staff part, a worker by the name Daniel tried asking me for my number, and when i politely declined him he started bringing me into the employee only storage section and forced me to make out with him. i am a child and he is an adult. read more

I am extremely disappointed with my experience at the Petco grooming salon on Harford Road and would not recommend this location. My original grooming appointment was confirmed for May 30, 2026. After arriving and waiting approximately 45 minutes, I was informed that the groomer's dog was sick and that my appointment had to be canceled. While I understand emergencies happen, it was frustrating that I was not notified before arriving at the store. My appointment was then rescheduled for June 3. Upon arrival, I observed the groomer grooming another dog while talking on her personal cell phone. My dog was checked in, and later I received a call stating that my dog would not come out of the cage. When I arrived at the salon, I could see the groomer through the window smiling and counting cash. Once she let us in, she did not clearly explain the situation. I removed my dog from the crate because I assumed she needed assistance getting my dog to the grooming table. Only then did she tell my daughter that my dog had "almost bitten" her and that she had three other dogs to groom, so she could not groom my dog. What concerns me most is that this conversation occurred at approximately 4:30 p.m., which was my scheduled appointment time. If the groomer already had multiple dogs ahead of mine and was unable or unwilling to accommodate my appointment, why was my reservation accepted in the first place? The entire experience felt unprofessional, poorly communicated, and dismissive of my time. After two appointments and multiple inconveniences, I left without receiving the service that had been scheduled. I would appreciate a review of this situation, including the scheduling practices and customer communication at this location. I hope Petco takes this feedback seriously so that other customers do not experience the same frustration. read more

Friday August 8th at 5pm we were in Petco 7615 Harford rd Parkville MD. On our way to the register, there was a bird caught in a mouse trap. We caught the bird. I went to the register and told the man we needed help and he said, "oh, is that the wild bird that's been in here for 3 days?" I said, I don't know, it's caught in a mousetrap. He said, "I will call a manager." I asked him for a paper towel and water. We were able to find the paper towel and he told me there was a water fountain in the back. We took the bird to the fountain, where we discovered what looked like human hair had bound his foot to the snap trap. The bird had apparently begun chewing his own foot off and had hair and blood in his beak. We got the hair out of his mouth and as much hair off his leg as we could but were unable to release him from the trap. I went back up front to ask for a small pair of scissors. On my way I was met by a woman wearing a Petco T-shirt. I asked her for the scissors. She immediately responded with "What you need is Olive oil." I said, 'what I need is scissors." At this point, she has now raised my blood pressure. She then told me she works with parakeets. We get to the back where I tell my partner that she has told me that we need is Olive oil and has not even evaluated the situation. I am now upset. So I quickly as calmly as I can, telling her exactly what the situation is. She said, "You don't have to be rude." To which I responded, "You were rude from the beginning." I actually was not rude to her other than the fact that I was speaking quickly and and factually while not letting her interrupt me. She had a small towel in her hand and said, "Put this over it's eyes to keep it calm." I said, "It is perfectly calm and has been." She said, "Fine, stress it out more." She then put the towel on the fountain and walked away. The first young man that we had spoke to return to us with a pair of scissors. I explained to him how she was rude from the start. He then told me she was the manager. So after getting the bird, free from the trap we wrapped it in the towel and returned up front. She was standing there with the original guy as well as another male co-worker. I said to her, "I hear that you are the manager, and I would like your name." She said "It's Ashly." , then she began to spell it. I told her I did not need the spelling. We returned home with the bird where we removed the rest of the hair and ultimately the foot. He had already done most of the work and it needed to come off. We put him outside in a spare chicken coop to heal but he didn't need it and he flew away. We feel very fortunate that we were there for that bird. We have been using that Petco for 4 years now and have had great experiences with all team members. It is unfortunate that a manager would treat a customer in a situation like that, in such a manner or in any situation. She may be a pet store manager with parakeet experience. I am a 48 year old man from farmland in Arizona, where I raised animals for 4H, have had (and do have) many varieties of animals my entire adult life, worked as a groomer and in the pet store industry from 1995-2001, currently own an urban farm. She might want to step off her high horse and come with a team player attitude. It is now a week later, and customer service has still not called me back. read more

Jeff @ Parkville Petco is Great!! My daughters have been begging me for guinea pigs and we have gone to various pet stores to shop for the right fit for us. Jeff has stood out to me as a kind, knowledgeable, and patient pet lover. He has allowed us to learn more about and experience the guinea pigs by showing my girls the proper way to handle the Guinea pigs and how to hold them safely. Jeff's also pointed out additional products that the guinea pigs will need for a healthy home. His commitment to animals and doing a good job is very evident to me and it has helped to make us all more comfortable in committing to adding another pet to our family. In my experience people take their time to write reviews for two reasons they are either very happy or very upset. This dad is very happy and I appreciate Jeff. Keep up the great work Jeff!! Okay, so currently as of September 25th, 2022. I see that the average reviews are three stars, therefore I cannot speak for the quality of service in the past. However today when I came into the store and could not find my brand of dog food that my pet eats, employees were a help in aiding me to locate the food in the store. Additionally the AGM (I think is this stands for a manager if some sort); Marvin, was a huge help because I normally get the large size bag of dog food, however Marvin was super helpful when I could only get the medium size bags and he discounted the bags to the same unit price as one large bag. Very nice store, with very nice employees, hopefully they stay there as long as possible. Petco! Give my man Marvin a promotion, he's super nice and dedicated to helping customers in the store. This was the WORST grooming experience EVER! I essentially paid for my dog to sit in a cage for an hour and a half. When I picked him up I had to wait for what seemed like 20 minutes for someone to even acknowledge I was at the desk. Secondly, my dog didn't even smell CLEAN. WHAT AM I PAYING FOR?! I also asked for his nails to be buffed. The groomer brought him out and his nails were RAZOR SHARP. And when I asked her to buff them LIKE I PAID FOR, she said she had "tried". WHERE?! Fortunately, she went and buffed them. But my dog smells no better than he did when I brought him there. A WASTE OF MONEY, AND MY TIME. AND A TOTAL DISSERVICE TO MY LOVING DOG. Honestly not impressed with their grooming services. No friendly welcome, not even a hello. The woman said hello to my dog but not to the person paying for it. Real nice. The cuts are ALWAYS uneven and the groomers themselves are not friendly, they always have an attitude. I have given them so many chances to make my dog look nice but they constantly mess it up and make her look like a rat. They didn't even bathe her, she had eye funk all over her face and for 75 dollars (not including the 15 dollar tip!!) she should be sparkling. That is not cheap for a dogs haircut. I expect so much more then this crap. Every time I've ever been in there, the groomers are not polite and they rush the haircut. (It's clear to see because the haircut is so uneven.) Went to this store to buy 4 20c goldfish. Young lady started asking a bunch of questions. "How big is your tank? What kind and how many fish are in there now"? I explained that it's a 30-40 tank in the elementary school where my wife works, and I didn't know exactly how many fish were in there, but my wife wanted me to buy the 4 goldfish. Then, that lady went to talk to another lady. After a few minutes, the first one came back to me and said it was against "company policy" to sell me the fish because it "sounded like" there were already too many fish in the tank!!! Mind you, they had dozens of the small comet goldfish crowded into a small tank. A bunch of them had clenched fins, indicating stress - due to overcrowding. Most people buy these fish to feed larger fish. The tank at the school is for young students to watch the fish grow! I won't be going back to buy anything else in this store, even though it's in walking distance to me. Petsmart, which is a few miles away, will get my business instead. read more

I took my shin tzu here to be groomed. When I went to pick him up the groomer walked him out for me because had a car seat in my arms. So I put him in the car and when I got home I noticed his face was bleeding. They had cut/razor burned him and didn't even say anything! So I called them and they said I had to bring him back. A nice young girl met me outside by the curb since my newborn was sleeping. The rude male manager came out and said to come inside. He comes out with a huge binder saying that I could take him to the vet on them. No sympathy meanwhile I have a screaming newborn on the other arm. Do not go to this grooming facility! I have brought my dogs to Amanda to be groomed for many years - I have followed her from several different stores/locations. They love her and I am very happy with the way she styles their hair. I had tried other grooming salons closer to home over the years, but had been sadly disappointed with the results. I am very content staying with Amanda at Petco. I was happy they was able to squeeze me in for an appointment for my dog but I was unhappy when I went to bring my dog in she was not able to be groom . Even though I stated to the young lady that my dog was groomed here Before she stated because my dog took calming medicine then she was unable to groom my dog , I repeatedly kept telling her that the Petco grooming expert told me to get the medicine for my dog just to keep her calm because like most dogs she do not like the sound of the clippers , she has been groomed plenty of time at Petco while on the calming medication and her grooming experience went great. I told the young lady okay I'll bring her in another day without any medicine in her system and she said I would not be able to do that either . After telling me she was unable to groom my dog she put in my dog chart that she would have to be referred to an vet to be groomed . Now that pissed me off , The young lady didn't try to groom my dog that day but she puts in the chart that she will not be able to be groomed at Petco , she would have to go to a vet . Me being an loyal customer to Petco I had plenty of dogs that's was groomed at Petco before but this is the first I have ever experienced, that's unfortunate for Petco , I went to PetSmart the same day to get her groomed and she did great read more
