The curbside pick up doesn't really work for the following reasons. 1) the spot for the curbside pick up is blocked by the sign they use for curbside pick up...so you can't park there. 2) the only place to park infront of the store is right by the drive way and if there are ppl trying to leave you are going to have an angry line of cars behind you. 3) the workers aren't quick to bring out your items so no matter what you're gonna have an angry line of cars behind you. read more

Was looking go get a setup for a leopard gecko and this place had it all for me. This petco was stocked with merchandise and had plenty of reptiles. They seem to be well taken care of here as opposed to other petco locations. All the aisles were neat and it helped me find stuff pretty quickly. The guy who helped me was Steven. He answered all my questions without attitude. Customer service like this should be at every location! I ended up getting an exo terra terrarium with reptile carpet and supplements here. I'm typing this up from the Petco parking lot. Had to drop in twice today because my kittens were just spayed/neutered and I needed to grab cones for them. Sadly they didn't fit so I had to come back and pick up a different item. The employees both times were both extremely helpful and extremely compassionate. Just awful! Half the fish are sick and suffering, no one knows anything about the merchandise but they always insist on saying "Hi, welcome" when you walk in! Focus on what is important. Worst customer service and grooming. I have 3 dogs and a cat and have been using their grooming services for several years. One of my dogs, goes every week because he has sensitive skin. In the last visit a couple of weeks ago, the groomer not only cut the one dog's toenail so deep that it was bleeding for days, she also did not close the kennel door and the dog fell out of the crate. I didn't say anything since "accidents happen"(she was crying and my daughter felt bad for her). The result? My dog is now banned from petco grooming because of "safety concerns". When I asked what that means, the assistant manager told me that because the dog is older now, they cannot provide services. So after all these years being a loyal customer, now my dog is" too old" to service. Thank you Petco. read more

Every time I come into this petco, the staff is always very welcoming and friendly. They offer good tips and advice on how I can help my puppy along in her obedience training and much more! With as much as I come in, I've become a regular at this location, and yes my dog is very spoiled haha. The manager is an awesome guy, very attentive and knows what to recommend when my dog seems a bit off. The dog trainer we frequently talk to, Joey, is very informative. I came to this Petco not expecting to walk out with a saltwater fish. When I entered the fish area I was pleasantly surprised to see how clean their tanks were. Nico and a nice lady were feeding the fish and conducting tank maintenance. This is by far the best fish program I've seen at any Petco or Petsmart, Kudos to the staff there! They had a huge variety of saltwater fish and corals. I picked up a Coral Beauty Angelfish on my visit, it is really healthy and has great color. Will be back! read more

VETCO review only (the vet place inside/owned by Petco store). Hands down one of the worst vet places. They upsell you on everything, want to sell you expensive meds that are actually on the shelf in Petco in generic form for much less, and one of the rotating vets (Casey?/Kasey?)... well, suffice to say you will quickly see why she works with animals--she has zero people skills. She sits in the hallway to talk with you instead of entering the exam room -- like WTF?! There is no privacy for you, your pet, your issue, or your bill because she, and the clerks, announce it loudly and have you sign forms and check out in front of everyone. The vet freaking talks to you from the hallway and not inside the room! so everyone else hears your exam. That is beyond crazy. They also take your pet away to examine it so you don't actually have any idea what the exam entails, who is with your pet or what is happening to your pet (if anything) ; they say it is Covid protocol, but everyone has stopped Covid protocol several months ago, including most vets. One of the vet techs, not sure her name (the really short girl with big glasses) -- she is awfully unfriendly. Hands down one of my worst vet experiences and I would stand outside with a picket sign and warn people to not go in if I had the time to do that every day. Stay far far far away. Do not go into this Petco location. They allow their cashiers to work without covering their nose and mouth as required by public health guidelines. Though customers are required to wear masks, today is the second time I have seen a cashier wearing a flimsy plastic face shield but nothing covering her mouth and nose. This is extremely dangerous particularly with the new, more contagious strain of Covid circulating. Dangerous and irresponsible! read more

Parking is verrrry limited here. And tight! Getting out of the plaza is difficult as well with the other cars parked on the street. It's many accidents just waiting to happen. Who was the genius who decided to place the heaviest dog food bags at the very back of the store, far, far away from the checkout? On the other hand, nothing makes me feel more butch than slinging a 40 pound bag of puppy chow over my shoulder in a fireman's carry... that is until the small hole in the seam buckles under the pressure of aforementioned puppy chow, spills all over the floor, and causes me to slip ass over teakettle, nearly crushing a Pomeranian in the process. Anyway, this is the Staples of pet supplies, minus the reasonable prices. I mean, is there an upper limit people are willing to spend to keep their dogs from starving to death? I'm seriously considering bringing back the sport [sic] of bear-baiting just so my dogs can have the chance of a decent meal. Oh, and nice try with the buy 10 bags of dog food and get the 11th food free "promotion." Not only does that work out to less than a 10% discount, you have to buy 10 bags of dog food within a 12 month period. Unless you're a champion musher training your pack for the Iditarod , I seriously doubt there's a chance you'll be going through 400 pounds of dog food in 12 months. read more

Took a small, calm, well-behaved dog in for a grooming last Tuesday. Second time I've tried this--first time was ok, dog was happy, trim was adequate. This time I was asked to pay before seeing the dog... I paid and he brought out a dog with a butchered haircut...the funny sweet mohawk I had specifically asked to save was gone. The top of the head was trimmed about 3/4 inch long and rounded like a mushroom. The body was scalped and the legs had unusually long hair. I mentioned something to the clerk--but the dog was pulling frantically toward the door... The long leg-hair made sense that night when i found a deep gouge on the inner left knee and one totally untrimmed dewclaw...one. The dog made a damned nest with his blanket and didn't leave it for two days--even when someone knocked on the door. No barking... This was a traumatic experience. When I called Petco and spoke to the manager AMERICA after fifteen minutes on hold--she said she read the notes and found nothing. "If there was a cut, it would be in the notes and we would have taken the dog to the vet, so it never happened, but if you wanna come back we can trim the dewclaw that we missed." I guess I learned a lesson...Petco doesn't listen to what you want done--doesn't notify when they hurt the dog--doesn't listen when a customer calls with a problem. There is absolutely no other place this dog could have been hurt...he huddled in my lap all the way home. read more

This review is mainly for the dog trainer, Joey. She is awesome. We have a German Shepherd puppy and she is so great with him. She takes the time to answer any concerns we have with our dog. I am glad I came here for the dog training services because our dog needs it and I see the difference she had with our dog. He just graduated puppy level 1. He can sit, stay, come when called, and understands leave it. Will be going on to the puppy level 2 class and I'm looking forward to it. read more

With exclusive regards to their selection of betta fish, this Petco gets 4 stars compared to all other pet stores I've been to. I spent an entire Saturday combing the San Gabriel Valley in search of a fish, browsed hither an yon---from as far west as El Segundo and as far south as Lomita---and have yet to see a more comprehensive selection of bettas both in color, fin-type, and overall quality. Keep in mind, though, that what I've seen elsewhere is pretty shitty. I have one major complaint: I observed last night that a few of their bettas had a nasty fungal disease, and when I pointed it out to the guy working in the fish department he said there wasn't anything he could do. Um, maybe try some of that medicine on the shelf about 10 paces away? I don't know what company policy is, but can you humor me at least? Take him off the shelf? Put him out of his misery? Not cool. Not necessarily the guy's fault, but not cool. That unsavory experience aside, I do love my new betta. He's black with blood-red fins and silvery spots :D. This Petco is still first on my list were I looking for another betta. read more

Still think the staff is great at this location, excluding the lady in aquatics that refused to get me a price on a mushroom coral, for whatever reason, asked her to ask a manager and still kept telling me to come back at 130 and when I told her in didn't want to have to come back she told me "oh well", I told the cashier in front who got the manager and had a price in like 10 seconds and bagged it for me. 4/22/17 Most terrible dog grooming service I have ever received. After being a customer for 10+ years my dog has been mistreated. I received a call informing me my dog was not able to be attended. As I picked my dog up it caught my attention that she was still wet with soap near her eyes and her chest. After I filed a complaint I was told I wasn't welcomed back. Disclaimer: My rating is strictly fish related. There are 4 guys that work in the fish department who are extremely knowledgeable and always willing to help, Hung (manager), Chung, Edgardo (and I can't remember the 4th's name). They all know me by name and I typically come in about once a week just to pick their brain, check out the new fish they've stocked, pick up any supplies I may need and to shoot the sh*t. I've always had good experiences there and they are very helpful. After reading some of the negative reviews I'd be willing to bet that it either wasn't one of the aforementioned employees or the customer was rude and/or demanding. If you go in there genuinely interested, asking for help, or you have an issue and are nice, I cannot imagine anyone would have a bad experience. read more

I wouldn't bother to review it but I want to tell you not to go here unless you're desperate -which I was yesterday, since my strictly indoor cat was suddenly infested with fleas...oh God. After boiling and baking all the linens in my house they were still biting me. Anyway, I picked up litter and a 3 month supply of frontline. About $90.00. Gag. Since I heard rumors that this stuff has lost its effectiveness because fleas mutated to be immune to it, I was super pissed at the price, and that they didn't carry the newer product, and that when I asked if it came with a guarantee, the sweet cashier just stared at me blankly -of course. Bless their souls, those minimum wage retail workers. But WTF is up with inflated prices AND undertrained, minimum wage retail workers? Bullshit. This has to be one of the smallest Petco's that I have walked in to. You would think that judging by its size that the staff would be on the floor to assist but boy was I wrong. We walked in while a friend of mine was next door at Turner's. We were in need of a better brand of dog food, but couldn't find any staff to assist, so we did what we all do when we need help GOOGLE, lol. I like this store because of all the reasons a person should like it.Its clean and the employees are nice.They have pet adoptions and plenty of non grain pet food for all the animal owners that believe in taking good care of their pets health.I played pet sitter for a few months to my friend 2 cats and I shopped at this one and the one on Labrea in L.A.I like this location better since my favorite store in the world is right up the street..Whole Foods!It also seems bigger and they carry a good selection of rats and mice there.I really love going over there and talking to them.Theyre so cute. If you go there, make sure you sign up for Pet Pals or whatever their rewards program is.You save a few pennies if nothing else.Natural Balance, Canidae and Instinct are all brands ive bought from here.Not as expensive as you think since they have random sales.Just don't go there thinking its 5 to 7$ for 10 to 20 lbs of food.These brands are $10 to $15 for 2 to 4lbs of food! Their groomers cut off 1/3 of my dog's nipple during a standard "puppy's first groom" and acted like it was no big deal. This store once had great service. I had enjoyed how friendly they were. This past Tuesday I came in with my cat (after taking her to the vet for a serious infection) to get some cat litter and flea medicine. It seems as though the entire staff has changed. I'm not sure what the problem was, but apparently the cashier felt I had stood in the wrong place in line (they have moved the location of the cashier's stands which is confusing) and took the time to berate my presence to the customer she was tending to. She said, "I don't know what it is, but no matter what we do SOME CUSTOMERS just don't GET IT." When it was my turn to pay, she handled every item I purchased as though it were a dead snake and I were her hated customer for the day. I made a point to thank her before leaving, but she just looked at me with stone-cold eyes. I wish I remembered her name because her attitude deserved a mention to the store manager. I had spent half my day at the veterinarian, worried about my cat's illness. The last thing I needed was to be treated like a villain for no reason at all. I doubt the Petco cashier will ever read this, but here's something she should know: You have a job. You are lucky to have it in this economy. When you sign up for a job, you do it to your highest ability because that is how you get a better job. It doesn't matter if you advance at Petco or move on to another job. Your attitude and your effort will open doors that are closed to you right now. The better your attitude, the higher the quality of life you will have. You can remain a lazy person who hates your job, but here's what will happen: Lack of effort will make you less and less intelligent. Your chance at a better life will diminish. I believe you deserve better and you know in your heart that I did not deserve whatever darkness you have inside you spilling onto my visit. Some of the employees were incredibly nice and helpful, which is awesome, however... I purchased a leopard gecko from this location because I couldn't resist the price. I noticed there were about 8 or 9 in the same habitat and since male and female leos should not be housed together unless you want them to mate while multiple males will attack each other, I asked if they were all female. The employee's exact words were, "I have no idea. We just throw them in there." Are you kidding me? Also, parking is awful. There are hardly any spots. Great experience buying my parakeet! This is my first review so bare with me! Store was really clean when I entered. A dog had peed as I walked by but the workers were fast and cleaned up the mess fast. The store is really huge, and it was easy to navigate in. The parakeet section had so many birds! All the colors you can imagine. One of the workers Steven helped grab the bird. He was very knowledgeable on parakeets and actually knew his stuff! So now that I have gone to this location quite a few times I feel it's time for an update and an extra star! My last few visits here have been great. Each time I have gone here they have had what I needed and everything was easy to find. Also, they have had some really good sales on certain items which I happen to often buy for my pooch. Food ($2.00off), biscuits($1.50 off), poop bags ($2.00 off), etc. I have also noticed the foul smell I experienced before seems to have been taken care of, because I didn't notice it on my last few visits. I mentioned before that parking is limited in this little complex; however, during my last 3 or 4 visits I had absolutely no problem finding a parking spot quickly and easily. read more
