The worst customer service I've ever experienced. When I asked for help, the staff seemed annoyed and bothered by the request. Eventually, they said someone would assist me, but after waiting over 7 minutes with no help, I decided to leave. The store itself could also use improvement -- the smell and overall organization inside were unpleasant and gave a poor impression. This rating is for the GROOMING DEPARTMENT. I want to give a shoutout to RACHEL for doing such an amazing job with my dog. She mentioned that my pup was a little anxious when it came to the nail trim/ buffing and took about 5 minutes for her to settle but she kept trying and she eventually settled. I really want to thank her for being so patient and getting it done! Also felt really personal how she carried my dog out of the back and waited for me to pay while holding and petting her instead of having her on the ground. I normally go to the Ventura location because I live 5 minutes from that one but with the recent heat wave and my normal location not having any availability I had to book here. But she really sounded like she truly has a passion to help you find a solution. Michelle was very helpful and knowledgeable on product... I am a retired groomer and she gave me great advice when I was asking about products- I have a dog with sensitive skin and she offered great matches- She gave me alternatives when I told her what was out of my price range. I was impressed that the person out on the sales floor had knowledge of shampoos. When I worked at petco (out of area) the sales floor people would send customers to grooming for shampoo/bathing questions- She was really pleasant to talk with, she listened to my concerns for my dog, she has great customer service skills and I felt she was truly sincere. I went to my local Petco today I was completely ignored as soon as I walked in. I asked a question and the skinny white girl just walked away from me. I then went into the grooming salon, and this big tall man with a beard had the worst attitude and told me to go find someone on the floor and rolled his eyes not to mention the poor animals look like they're being abused and neglected. The bedding is soiled the food bowls are empty. They all look like they're dying not to mention the place smells like piss and there's giant roaches everywhere. Please!!!! DO NOT BRING your Dog to the GROOMERS!!!!! I went to pick up my dog from the groomers no one was there I had to find a sales associate in order for them to fetch my dog. I paid and went home. After my dog went to relieve herself her rectum was very bloody. I was very upset and called Petco. I spoke to the Groomer which name starts with a letter "B" they said that they accidentally nicked her and was in a hurry to go to lunch. I wish I would have looked at the reviews before taking my dog to Petco to get groomed. Her entire body was already trimmed short to begin with as I usually took care of it at home. I took her in for a bath/cut/nail trim and when I picked her up, she literally looked like NOTHING had been done!!! I had just paid $70 + a $10 tip for the WORST grooming experience EVER. Dropped her off at 8:45 am. Told my husband she'd be ready about noon. We were pleased when they called early and thought "great they got to her quickly so she didn't need to be in a cage too long". I came in today to bring my kids to buy guinea pigs the animals looked in poor condition they had no hay water dispenser on the floor not able to drink the water. There was only one person on the floor to help customers and serval people waiting to get help. The younger girl was able to answer all my questions and was patient with me super helpful until some red head older lady came up to me super rude and said we were closing even though the website said 9:00 pm. Also, there were no keys to grab the guinea pig which makes no sense because the General Manager was there. This is highly unprofessional any manger should have keys in case of an emergency. This store always looks under staff. I come in often every time I come in seems like it's getting worse. My overall experience from Petco Hueneme has changed throughout the years. At one point I enjoyed receiving their services and staff. Unfortunately today, I had a scheduled grooming appointment for my one year old toy poodle. I alerted twice when I was scheduling the appointment and in-person that my pup had a few matted spots. Not extreme at all. Both groomers at the scene told me she was badly matted. I told them she was not matted as how they were describing. I told them I was confused to why they were telling me this because she was not extremely matted. I told them I know the difference when it is extremely matted to when there's a few matted knots. I was very frustrated and told them why don't they alert their customers when they schedule an appointment that they do not accept any dogs with matted fur that includes small matted knots because I wasted my time waiting and to drive to the appointment to get this news. They tell me that I should tell corporate about this (like if they really want to hear a customer's feedback). They try to brush it off by saying it is part of their new protocol and that is why the old groomer team were let go because of one matted dog ruined for everyone else's experience. I was mad that they wasted my time, try to gaslight me that my dog was extremely matted, and were not apologetic. I've mentioned that I've been going to this specific grooming Petco store for the past 8 years for my other dogs for their grooming services before they closed down. When I heard that petco's Hueneme Grooming department service was back open, I was excited to receive their grooming services with them again. Came at 4:30pm, was told they close at 4pm. I had never been in this PetCo before, I usually go to another pet store that has more options and is generally overall better. But they don't have once specific treat that my dogs love, that PetCo has. So I sucked it up and went to the closest one to me since the last time I got these treats was from a small store in Santa Barbara. When I walked in, the store was EMPTY. No customers, no employees, no one to greet me when I walked in. I brushed it aside because I wasn't there to chat with anyone. As I was walking around, I noticed 1) the store was filthy 2) there were brown stains on the floor every couple of feet 3) there was random materials for construction in the middle of the store 4) half the store didn't even have lights on 5) the tanks and cages for the animals looked horrendous. I grabbed what I needed and went to check out. It took me a while to find them since they weren't with the other treats from the same brand, but I didn't see any employees to ask for help. When I went to the register, the cashier said two things to me: "Do you have a card with us?" and "$27.98" and didn't seem excited or thrilled to be there at all. Live pets for sale include mice, rats, guinea pigs, hamsters, parakeets, cockatiels, finches, fresh water aquarium fish, reptiles, amphibians and sometimes tarantulas etc. I wish they sold guinea pig food in bags bigger than 8-10lb though. Do not bring your dog to get groomed here!! My family's dog has delicate hair that gets tangled. The groomer said it was too damaged and just shaved off her fur!! When we take our dog to PetSmart they would NEVER shave off her fur even if the ends are damaged!! A Pomeranian should NEVER be shaved unless it is absolutely necessary!! Her fur might never grow out to be the same and right now her skin will be sensitive and unprotected from the sun and could lead to a higher risk of skin cancer. Her nails were also supposed to be cut but they didn't do a good job. There was 1 long nail that wasn't even cut! Please be cautious if you bring your dog here since this seems to be an ongoing problem considering I see other reviews here that have had the same problem despite PetCo replying to them. read more

I have taken my dog here 2 or 3 times to be groomed. First 2 times they did a good job. This time around they did a good job but she came home with fleas. She's an indoor only dog and gets flea treatments and has never had fleas on her until now. She came home itching but I thought maybe she was just itching from the new shampoo but she kept at it. Finally I was able to see one crawling on her head. We spray our yard and she is never around other dogs. The only dogs she has been around was there at petco. I can't be certain where they came from but all I know is they weren't there before I took her to petco. This is the best Petco I've ever been to. I've been a loyal customer at this store for about a year now, and every single one of the staff members I've encountered has gone above and beyond to help me. I've talked to at least 4 different employees, and they are all extremely knowledgeable about animals and what's best for their care. I fostered a Red Ear slider turtle for 5 months, and I got all my supplies there and advice from several staff members on how to care for the turtle and help him adjust. I also have a dog who is getting old and has had some health issues, and staff members have gone out of their way to help me with finding products for her. It is always a great experience going there. I can tell the staff gets along and it's just a friendly atmosphere. We need more stores like this. read more
