I'm not sure why people rate this star one star, other than I have noticed people typically don't take the time to say "thank you" for a job well done, but if they get their feathers ruffled, they are quick to leave negative feedback. I've been a patron of Petco since the late 80s in WA state. I have been coming to the Rapid City Petco for approximately 8 years. In the 8 years I have had MAYBE 1-2 less than great experiences out of the dozens of visits each year. The staff always goes out of their way to help me with my purchases and answer questions I may have. I have found the grooming staff to be outstanding. My dogs always look great after a grooming appointment with Kylee or Tori. I have had great experiences with several others when having my dogs brushed out. They are ALWAYS kind to my dogs, treating them like they were their own children! They are patient and professional. I feel extremely fortunate to have found these groomers and I hate to think of the day when they might move on. During the beginning of COVID, when stores were trying to figure out how they were going to continue services, things got hectic, but Kylee remained calm and kind, doing her best to please everyone. There are several other employees I'd like to call out for their exceptional customer service and friendly disposition. Several cashiers, Kaitlin is one, and the other two I do not know their names but they are always cheerful and polite. They have even given me discounts that I was not aware of. In my opinion, there are some wonderful people who work at this Petco, making it one store my dogs and I both love to visit! Thanks for giving it your best, it shows! read more

We have never had any issues with this Petco! I have always pick PetSmart over Petco but I like going to both here!! I have been buying our dog food with Petco since they started the 8th bag free reward and have had no issues. They have been of stock of the bigger bags for Purina pro plan more often but who's not out of stuff these days! We did have issues with the repeat deliveries where the delivery never showed and had to do a lost in mail refund. But it was super easy and everyone was so kind! Even when I called this store and they had no internet for the passed 2.5 hours the man was easy to figure out who I needed to actually contact! read more

i would definitely not recommend this petco. Very rude costumer service, gives you DYING fish. i will no longer be supporting this company. They gave my daughter a dyeing fish with swim bladder. When the fish died we gave him a final flush down the toilet bowl. when we called to get a refund they wouldn't allow because we did not have any proof even though we had videos and pictures of the poor unfortunate soul. they scammed us 10$ for a fish that didn't even make it 24 hours out of the store. Not our fault for the death. they gave us a dyeing fish. When petsmart will tell you how to take care of a fish properly and give you tips, Pecto in the other hand is very unreliable source. i would recommend petsmart over petco read more

I am very disappointed to inform this information to you guys......but I had to get my friend a fish for her birthday and we got the fish and took proper care of it and we got everything and did everything and THE FISH WAS 10 WHOLE DOLLARS ARE YOU KIDDING ME it died in like 5 hours,I'm so dissapointed that you sold a fish that died in 5 HOURS and I didn't expect it because she fed it and everything and did everything you guys told us to do but now she can't get a refund because she flushed her fish in the toilet.But you guys won't let her get a new fish because you had to see the body,WHAT THAT IS SO STUPID!!!!we sadly had to flush it and she feels totally ripped off.I just wanted to let you guys know that.... read more

My trip to this store today means the last straw. I've been here four times over the last few weeks and every time the store has stuff everywhere in the aisles and shelves need to be stocked. Today I couldn't get any help and the checkout guy was so rude. I also paid for a dog toy that didn't end up in my bag. Out of all the money I've spent over this time period ($500+) I hadn't gotten any rewards and when I asked about it he said I had to go online and load them manually so that was it. My 2 yr old Beta was not doing so well. As a last ditch effort to get him better, I went to Petco to seek help. Joy, the aquatic specialist was amazing. She knows her work! I showed her photos of my fish and she suggested a few options for treatment. That was Saturday. Today is Monday and my beautiful guy is feeling much better. Stopped in with the intention of buying some plants and a couple of fish for my aquarium. Waited 25 minutes by the fish tanks, then walked around the store. Other than the two cashiers (with whom I had made eye contact several times during my wait and could plainly see I was looking for some floor assistance) and the pet groomers there was no one on the floor to help customers. I walked around the floor several times and saw no one. Finally left. Will not go back. read more

This place is terrible. Employees don't seem to know what they are doing. Called to adopt a cat. Was told they couldn't hold it for me unless I came in. Drove 40 miles to get the car and she had already been put on hold well before I called by someone else who had called it in. Don't buy from them. read more
