Well first of all we love Petco in round Lake! Most of the people are awesome. Jeff is very very helpful and always attentive.. last night we went to go buy a new dog collar and a leash we included it in with the dog food and dog treats $150 worth of things.. as we were ingraving our dogs name on the collar we just bought, we saw a different collar,We decided to swap them out so we returned the other collar and somehow someway we had a $15 credit anyway coming to us so the gentleman instead of getting the manager he just put a credit on a Petco card.Well he accidentally gave us $20 more in credit store and my husband and I didn't even realize that. When we got home we realized we didn't have either color so we went back to the Petco store and that's when the manager came to help. She was very mean telling us that we got $30 worth of store credit that wasn't deserved to us. First of all if we got $30 in store credit that wasn't supposed to be ours ,,why would we come back to the same store? And it's not my job to do with the register is supposed to do! the register supposed to add it up but the guy was so busy and worried about his cat that he had with him that he messed up and it wasn't our fault but the manager sure made it seem like it was our fault.. I've also seen her Yell at Jeff for not paying attention to customers when he was just doing his job busy putting something away.. she isn't very nice I hope I don't have to deal with her again .. read more

I've taken my pitbull/rottie to puppy one & just started puppy two. I had puppy one training with Caitlyn, who I don't have enough positive things to say about her. She worked wonders with my puppy! Highly recommend her! Due to going on maternity leave, when I finished puppy one I was introduced to Cayla, our new trainer due to Caitlyn going on maternity leave. Now, my dog is 5 months old (a little stubborn and quite large) Cayla does amazing with her. When one method doesn't work, or my dog gets distracted she has another way to get through to her. I look forward to every week & excited to see how much my dog can learn from class. I've also gotten wonderful advice as far as food/toys/ect. Would recommend this to anyone whose looking for training! You must be willing to put in the work for the training to last & be effective. They'll teach you the basics, the rest is on you to really succeed and get the best out of your dog! read more

I tried to get my dogs nails trimmed and I called ahead and they said 20 minutes. No biggie. I came in about a half hour later and as I opened the door, a woman--with her back to me, rudely belts out "over an hour for nails." I was there on March 2nd 2020 & I knew the bill sounded higher than should be so asked cashier if for sure everything had rung up correctly. He looked over receipt & replied oh it's my fault I rung up your dog tag twice. Well even after he adjusted that it sounded a bit high. Anyhow I got home & realized that the price on the leash I bought was 3.00 less than had rung up! Also the extra small jacket I got my new pup was way too big. So on March 7th I went to get my money back that they owed me & return the shirt. I also was then buying a nail clipper. Our cashier was Bailey. She was extremely confused about what to do. First she asked me for my credit card, (I paid for most of the bill with cash & only put a small portion on my card) so I said can you just give me the cash since that's what I used for the majority of the order so I don't have to dig in my purse & find which card I used? She gave a dirty look, didn't answer & proceeded to ring on register. She than said ok you owe 6.00!!! I said no, you actually would owe me 13.00 & whatever the tax comes out to. She looked at receipt again & said oh ok my bad. I said "I have 20.00 from the shirt coming back plus the 3.00 & then tax, then I owe you 10.00 plus tax for the nail trimmer. She looked at me with the dirtiest look & rudely said in a loud stern tone, "I said it was my bad already!!" Omg my husband & I couldn't believe her attitude. I was trying to help her out since she seemed so confused. I didn't say another word & she finished up & then not only didn't apologize for the over charge but also didn't say thank you or have a good day or anything at all to us!! She just handed up the receipt & ignored us! Wow great customer service right there! geez! I normally order everything for my dogs from Chewy.com who have the best customer service, selections, & prices of anywhere for pets. However sometimes we like to take the dogs in the pet store for goodies so they can have fun going out. This was my new pups first visit to a pet store & our last to petco! Petco is closest to our house but if I am going to be treated like garbage no thank you! I will drive a little further & go to Pet supplies plus where they are always super friendly & have never ever screwed up my order or had something in the system ring up wrong. If they ever did I can guarantee they would apologize. The young kids working these days need to realize just because something in the store wasn't your fault doesn't mean you don't apologize for the customer having to come back because of their store mistakes! Also Chewy ended up having extra small shirts that fit my pup beautifully & I got 3 of them for the price of one at petco that was way too big! Adios Petco in Round Lake! read more

My lab pup took her stitches out and needed a cone collar, without my dog with Cheryl helped me. I took my dog back to vet they put staples in but said I need a larger cone collar, off to petco we go, this time I bring my pup and Cheryl helped me again and put collar on pup. Petco has found and retained one of the best groomers around! We have been living in the area for 5 years and have tried other local groomers. We have 2 Shih Tzus, not the easiest to groom, especially with the 3-4 month grooming schedule we keep our pups on. When other groomers have gotten too close to their skin on their noses and have taken too much length of the ears (when unnecessary) this locations groomer has taken the time, with both our babies, to help them look their best. The only regret I have is not recognizing their attention to detail and care for our babies sooner in writing a review. Our pups are known by name as soon as we walk in and we are called promptly when they are done. I can't tell you how much I appreciate knowing they are in good hands and cared for when they are there. Thank you to the team at Petco groomers in Round Lake Beach. Today I witnessed something unfortunate at Petco in RLB. A man (who looked like he had not slept all night) with his wife and wheel chaired child tried to return a puppy they bought the night before. I heard him say it had only been 12 hours since the purchase, and the store worker kept telling them there was nothing she could do because they signed the papers. The papers I presume we're the refund policy of only 50%. As we move from giving thanks a few days ago and into the spirit of giving I find myself wondering if Petco could have made a gracious exception. The family probably wanted a dog and loving companion for their obviously very disabled child, only to get home and realize that managing a puppy requires even more attention and would be more than they could handle. I could understand Petco charging a fee for undoing all the paperwork that is done. I applaud the family for trying to provide a loving companion and realizing very quickly they made a mistake that put them in a position to make a correction. I am sad that Petco did not take the discussion into a more private space and make things right. You don't have to make full refunds for everyone but, sometimes you need to have a heart Petco. I hope the owners are proud of their business today because I am not. I don't think I can go back there. Doing the right thing sometimes means bending the rules. SMH read more
