Please be aware! You maybe charged an additional 30.00 when it's time to pick up your dog! I arrived at 8:20am, 20 minutes late, for my first time ever! I am talking years of going there! They took my dog in for grooming without mentioning I would be charged an additional 30.00 upon pick up! That is ridiculous! That old saying "penny wise and pound foolish" definitely applies here! They lost a consistent client who goes every six weeks, year after year. I do not recommend this place. They are very unreasonable! Never going back! read more

Wow. I'm surprised by all the negative posts on Yelp. So here's a positive one! While we have not boarded with them, A Yuppy Puppy has been a wonderful place to take our very energetic and active Boston Terrier on rainy or extremely cold days. We know the staff by name and the moment we walk in, they address our dog by name. (Our dog Lucy has no shame and laps it up.) In fact, when we pull into the parking lot she gets so excited that she literally pulls me inside. I do wish they had an outdoor space for those times when we're gone for the day and just don't want our dog alone. (And the lack of outdoor space is the main reason we haven't boarded with them.) But as far as a local, easy option, Yuppy Puppy has been a great place for us. read more

Took my new dog to Yuppy Puppy today to be groomed, they discussed with how she would be cut. They treated my dog extremely well, she was very happy, wagging her tale from the time she went in and still wagging her tail when I picked her up. We have moved to Yuppy Puppy with our groomer of five years, Kateryna. She is a wonderfully kind, caring, and skilled groomer. We now have four dogs and she takes extra care of every one of our boys, as she does with every client. Kateryna is always very thoughtful and conscientious of what we prefer for our boys and also what is most comfortable for them. The boys get soooo excited when it's grooming day and I say to them, "Want to see Kateryna!?!" They go running to the garage door to get their leashes on, wag their entire bodies, and they jump into the car with great enthusiasm. Here is a pic of our furry kids. I've been taking my dogs here for 10 years. The haircuts are usually nice. However, the staff needs to majorly up their game on politeness. Also, they are very understaffed. Need to make appointments weeks ahead of time and rescheduling is impossible. I would definitely have a backup plan for grooming. read more

I am very disappointed in Yuppy puppy. My dog has gone there at least 8 times and three of the times something weird has happened so we will no longer be going there. My dog came home with a limp once, he came home another time with a bleeding paw and this last time he was there for 11 days and somehow on the 9th day they noticed something weird with his ear so they took him to the vet to find that someone had wrapped a hair tie around his ear twice and it got swollen and infected. I ended up paying a big vet bill ...thankfully they saved his ear...and yet no one seemed to know how this happened...even though my dog had not been around anyone else before he went there and we did not do it. After notifying the owner (who admitted fault), they are still allowing the woman to work there a week after the incident, endangering other dogs. Please be warned that Yuppy Puppy DOES NOT have your dog's best interest in mind. UPDATE: If you are reading this, please know that the owner lied several times in response to my reviews even after admitting inappropriate treatment of my dog via phone. She is very aggressive and allowed an employee that hit my dog to work at the facility. Very concerned for the dogs that are still left at Yuppy Puppy. Called to see if they had any openings to fit my dog in who got sprayed by a skunk. They fit us in so I was very hopeful of having a place so close to home. When I picked her up I saw that she had been blown dried cause hair was not nicely in place like after being brushed. Then on her side was soap still. I brought it to the attention of the girl in front who grabbed a towel and wiped the soap off. Then I noticed that she had the same eye junk on her face of when I dropped her off. Was told they are careful of the eye area but why is it still on her face ? Said they bring her in the back and fix it. They set the price you pay whatever they ask cause your thinking it will be done right the 1st time. I left and figured at this point I will just do it myself. She still smelled like skunk especially neck up like they didn't do any of that. Even tthe groomer said she was not bad and it would work. Update : The owner was nice enough to reach out to me and apologize also refunded 75% of what I paid. After speaking with her I truly think she wants to do right by all of her customers. I will give them another chance and update then. So happy we gave Yuppy Puppy a second try ! My Rotti looks great and they treated her with such care. Despite the very scary one-star reviews that Yuppy Puppy has received, we decided to consider it as a place to board our dog this summer at the recommendation of a friend. I left two detailed messages to schedule temperament testing and never heard back from anyone. This is NOT a review of their facility or services - we never made it that far. We have two doggies - Buster is completely laid back, but Oatmeal is neurotic. Oatmeal does not do well outside of his own home, so we've only taken Buster here before for a couple daycares. .The staff absolutely loves him and remembered him each time they saw him :) A few weeks ago, we had no choice but to board both Buster and Oatmeal there for a couple of nights. We were really worried about how Oatmeal would do, but what can you do! The day we went to pick them up, the staff said both of them did just fine! they had stories to tell about each dog, which is always nice to hear because you know that they were paying attention and were around the dogs all the time to notice. even hearing that "oatmeal is such a baby", put a smile to my face, because he totally is! They told us about how they couldn't even walk to the other side of the play room without him crying and that he wouldn't eat unless you hand fed him..... this is exactly how Oatmeal acts like when he is away from his parents, so to hear that the staff truly KNEW how he was, was so comforting! Of course Buster did just fine :) We've taken Oatmeal to so many boarding facilities in the lsat 6 years and each one just didn't seem as personable as Yuppy Puppy is. It's hard enough leaving my babies for the weekend, I want to know that they are in good hands! read more

Today was my first time going here and I will definitely be back! They groomed my three legged elderly dog. I am always concerned when I take her in for grooming because of the length of time she needs to stand. Yuppy Puppy took great care of her and provided her extra support to ensure that she was comfortable. When I moved from San Diego to Lake Bluff my biggest concern for my dog was finding a grooming salon that would care for him as good as his previous groomer. Being a self proclaimed dog lady I wanted him to be comfortable in a new surrounding. He was used to a smaller more personal grooming experience; the Yuppy Puppy surpassed my expectations! Not only did my dog look incredible but he was also very happy and playful when we arrived. He was given the best experience any dog could get in my opinion. He also got a little bow tie with his grooming! They even have a daycare area for him which makes me beyond happy because he loves interacting with other dogs. I've already given rave reviews elsewhere due to this facility being the best anywhere around but today I was so impressed yet again I felt the need to review here. I felt uncomfortable with something & contacted the manager... she not only made me feel comfortable immediately but the owner contacted me right after as well by phone. The customer service was unbelievable & thorough & above & beyond. I just CANNOT rave about this daycare enough. Side note: they have webcams for you to watch your babies, before & after hrs care if needed & even have a sprinkler system set up throughout the entire facility for any type of emergency. 110% the Best. Bar None. UPDATE: I've read some people making accusations that I feel aren't totally correct. I say this with all sincerity ... the people that work there are seriously the most loving, doting dog people I've ever met & would trust them to babysit my baby individually at their home at any given time. Called this evening trying to get an appointment for sometime this week and they worked me in today. -Annie did a great job dealing with my timid and nervous little girl. I just had my labradoodle groomed here for the first time after having a botch job done else where last time and I am extremely please! They did an awesome job listening to my requests on how I wanted her to look on top of being fast and calling promptly when she was done so she didn't have to sit there for hours. This review only pertains to the grooming at Yuppy Puppy not day camp, their day camp facility is great and love everything about it and everyone there is very nice and helpful. I took my 6 month old Irish Doodle there for his first hair cut and he got BUTCHERED!!! He had beautiful long curly hair (at least 4 inches) and he came out with a buzz cut about 3/4 inches long. When checking in I kept saying .5-1 inch off at most, I don't want him short. The woman that cut him told me at check out that 3/4 inch really isn't "short" and that when you specify inches you have to say that's how long you want it left. Apparently you have to be knowledgeable about dog grooming to use correct language so the groomer understands you. She literally just took a hair clipper and buzzed him short and left the tail and head long. Groomers should be trained as to how each breed should look and how their hair grows ... each dog has a distinct look to follow now a buzz. She has no knowledge as to what a correct cut per breed is. I'm devastated as I had a cute curly haired pup and ended up with a buzzed half naked dog. See the before and after. Even the manager agreed that Henry had beautiful curls and now they're gone. read more

I bring my dog here fairly frequently for daycare and have boarded overnight as well. He loves it, and I have too. I have been to a few other daycare facilities, and by far this has been my best experience. The cameras are such a great feature. My dog is a big, bumbling, "bull in a china shop" type of guy, and they are always so nice to him, despite his crazy leash pulling and (friendly) excitability. (I'm always excited to see my friends too, shoot!) I am moving about a half hour away and it may be hard to take him anymore, sadly. After looking at reviews and pictures of other places, I realize how nothing really compares. Update: after the new owners I felt this place isn't the same at all. I stopped bringing my dog entirely. My dog is always ready for play, come hell or high water. I'd noticed he wasn't on camera during play time and called to ask; it was said that when they opened the gate he wouldn't enter the play area. If that were true then ok, but this would be nearly the most unheard of thing in the history of this dog. There were similar experiences on a number of occasions that left me with a poor taste in my mouth. I miss the old owners. read more

I have been long overdue in writing a review to say how thrilled I am with the new gorgeous Yuppy Puppy! The new owners have done such an amazing job turning this into a fabulous facility--'but most importantly it is the staff here old and new (for me, I have the most interaction with dawn, janae and kelsey who are all outstanding ) that take such good care of our 4 adored dogs. I so appreciate the way everyone takes great care of them, especially our sometimes temperemental maizie. Thank you to everyone there who walks her, lets her have quiet time and plays with her when she is in the mood. Love being able to watch what's going on with them through the website cameras and also the baths they get before coming home. The grooming is great too. Our three dogs had a great grooming experience there, which was reassuring as they have individually had some truly awful experiences in other locations. Very friendly staff. We miss Yuppy Puppy so much! They did such fantastic job taking care of our pup, Siggy, for both playcare and boarding. We always knew that she was in great hands when she went there, especially when her buddy Brandon was there. After moving to the city, we have not found a place that is as welcoming and warm for Siggy, and we definitely value all of the warmth, love and support that the YP team gave to us and our girl. They even sent us a signed card and luggage tag with Siggy's picture on it after our move, and it was such a sweet and thoughtful touch. We miss you guys lots! read more

We took our cockapoo here to get groomed today. The groomer, Annie, was sooo good with Pal. He looks amazing and when he came out of the grooming room he was the happiest dog on earth! With an Easter bandana and all! The prices are the best around. I've been bringing my dog to yuppy puppy for a long time now, and I couldn't be happier with the place. My little guy is such a crazy little bugger. I always used to have such a difficult time trying to harness his his incredibly high energy. But then I started bringing him to yuppy puppy and they somehow found a way to accommodate his chaos. now, when I get him home he just cuddles with me and my husband and sleeps. What a RELIEF!!!! My 7-year-old toy poodle DIED shortly after her first groom at this place. She was well and normal right before the two-hour service but changed dramatically after it: she could only walk slowly and was unable to finish her meal. The next morning she was found dead! The manager maintained that the grooming did not kill my dog but I could only state that my pet must be still alive if we had never sent her to Yuppy Puppy for grooming. Her death is tragic enough to us and the way the store handles her death is even more disturbing! read more

We've been taking our 9-year-old Welsh Terrier to YP for 7+ years. He goes about once a week to run off energy and LOVES going there. In fact, he lets us know when it's his day to go and tries to talk us into going nearly every weekday. A dog owner will understand that look of "can we go now?" He absolutely tugs us inside when we get there! At first I didn't board there because I thought it was expensive, but when I compared all the extra charges the other place added for bringing my own food, giving medicine, and an extra walk (active terrier!), the cost actually evened out. My vet also endorsed them, so I was sold. The staff is great. You can tell they really love the dogs. I highly recommend them. read more

Had a really unfortunate grooming experience with my puppy. Brought her in for her first grooming here. She has long hair and I knew she had some matting as it had been a month since her last grooming. Annie the groomer knew it too and said she'd do what she could to get the matts out without cutting them unless she had to. When I picked my pup up, her nose was bleeding! Annie told me it was from the "stress" of having so many matts. What? I called my breeder (who is also a groomer) and she told me in her 20 years of grooming long haired dogs she has never had a dog bleed, and to never go back. She reminded me groomers need NO special certification to groom unless they are a Master Groomer, who go through many hours of training to be certified and understand the coats of each breed. I have found an excellent master groomer, Jennifer from Love Fur Dogs in Glencoe, and although the prices are similar if not exact, the difference is night and day. Yuppy Puppy has lost my business for good. read more
