If your dog eats Hill's, I definitely recommend checking out Petco! I had no idea they carried so many different Hill's dog food options because I usually buy mine from the grocery store. Now my pups can try different flavors instead of eating the same chicken and rice all the time lol. They also offer grooming services, which is a nice bonus. The store was clean, and the pets they had for sale looked well cared for. Their enclosures were clean and everything seemed to be maintained really well. fish are treated very poorly. I bought a betta yesterday. All levels of ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate were as high as my test kits go. theres no excuse to not change their water as it's hard to miss all the poop in their cups if they don't wanna keep up testing water. Strictly for grooming- brought my dog in to be groomed. One CSR stood there, without acknowledging me for some time, walked away, and when she got back to the desk said that my groomer would be there soon. Another CSR came back with a bowl of food and her phone and began checking me in. I let her know that the dog wasn't putting a ton of weight on one of her back feet and she rushed to get a manager. I got a lecture on if it's sprained grooming would make it worse. Was offered a discount for a reschedule. I let the team know that it was frustrating that if I didn't say anything about the foot she wouldn't of even noticed and they both just stared at me. It just felt like none of them wanted to be there and jumped at an opportunity to cancel an appointment. They seemed incompetent. read more

When you go into chain stores, you tend to expect them to all look alike. Well, this one reminded me of Das Futterhaus back home in Germany. It is set up very similar. Signs are hung & easily seen, so you can locate the pet area you need. Then, the way things are displayed, finding the brand you need is simple. I was able to walk into this store, I'd never been too, & quickly locate my dog's brand of food. I have two French Bulldogs with major food allergies. So, finding & sticking to their brand is very important. I had no issues at this PetCo. Once ready to pay, the cashier was super friendly & helpful. She offered to put my huge bag of food back in the basket for me, but I declined. No since in making her do it, when I had to carry that monster out. I will be back to this PetCo. Went by this location on Monday the 15th to buy a few things. While I was there I was looking at several fish tanks and came across the gold fish tank. To my surprise it was very disturbing to see 90% of them dead at the bottom of the tank. I was there for a good amount of time and not only was it disturbing to see but also because no one was doing a thing about it. No one seemed to care and I was in the store for a good amount of time, sure did discourage me about this location. We have brought our dogs to the groomers and we have several other pets we purchase items for. This was very disturbing for me and it just makes me think on how disturbing it would be for children to see this. read more

Petco grooming never fails to disappoint if you want half washed pets come here! . I have had bad expiriences here before but I know they were just training people so I gave them the benefit of the doubt. All I asked for was a bath, I upgraded to the holiday packet with nail trim and sanitary. For 100$ baths I expected that a nice bath!! I picked up my dogs 5 hours after their appt which I had to call to see if they were ready which they were! When I get home i notice there face was not touched at all. I had told the groomer she had a little ketchup on her hair, while I look now both my dogs heads are untouched, breath and hair curls the same at I dropped them off as! I didn't ask for a cut so is this why they left them like this? Was I the one who had to bring up the concern that I wanted their face and ear cleaned or was this not included in the sanitary/bath/ holiday upgrade! I def will not be coming back and just advice to everyone to check your dogs before you leave that place because that's unacceptable and over charge for a simple body bath . We just rescued our Wolfie in December. Yesterday was her first salon visit. Kayla Mobley was the lady who attended to her. She was super awesome n sweet. You could tell she loved my pup n cares about her job. She also took the time to be sweet to my daughter. My daughter is Young n thought we were giving her dog away to Kayla. She cried and had a melt down. Kayla took the time to be sweet to my daughter and assure it was okay n she was not keeping Wolfie. I really appreciated that. Most people ignore kids. GREAT customer service! I took my Dachshund mix in to have her nails trimmed. Amber was friendly and professional. My little dog came out with the cutest nail polish AND she was excited and wagging her tail! A great experience for both my dog and I. Kudos to Amber!! She not only met expectations, she exceeded them. The ladies at check out were also friendly and very helpful; they offered me a coupon at the register that got me a discount on Seresto. Every time I go into Petco, I'm instantly warmly greeted. I've had problems with Blue Wilderness having nests of bugs inside of the dog bags (we switched brands) and the employees were always SO helpful with the switch and fixes. My boyfriend and I come in biweekly for dog food for our horse dogs; we've become quite the regulars. They're always happy to see us and help out when needed! I used to love going to this store since it's right next to my house, but I had a terrible experience with the dog trainer being incompetent (and the dog trainer never having a clicker class available). To top it all off, the GM then attempted to tell me how wrong I was and how I was such a terrible person, when the GM wasn't even there for the conversation or what happened between me and the dog trainer. Terrible management equals terrible store and associates. read more

t's not that big but the staff is always so helpful. I've always had good service but what made me want to write a review was from the help of Christina. I just adopted another dog from the shelter and brought her with me on the way home to pick up some essentials. And through casual conversation Christina asked about my pup and I told her I just adopted her. Christina was so sweet and quickly ran off to come back with a booklet of coupons and a reusable tote you get this when you adopt a shelter dog. I always take my husky to get groomed at PetSmart. This time I wanted to try Petco since it's closer to my house. Petco charged me $110 for Everything.. PetSmart only $80. I received a call from the Petco manager explaining they couldn't finish combing him. He bite them. I said I know.. When his hair is being pulled, he tries to bite us & the PetSmart employees but they Always finish the job & my dog is fully brushed out with no matted hair. I explained this Before my appointment that my dog will snip at you when being brushed. Anyhow.. I am VERY UPSET & DISAPPOINTED at Petco grooming. (6206 Wood Glen Dr, San Antonio, TX 78244) I will Never be back. The manager Only offered me $10 off. I now have to make Another appointment (PetSmart btw) & with my time & money to fix the job that Petco couldn't & didn't get done. If PetSmart can groom my dog than so can yall!! $10 off is Nothing!
