these were the leapord geckos fighting

Okay.. i've been going to this petco(university blvd) for years and they were okay but now since i've learned more about reptiles and am a reptile keeper now, they honestly do the bare minimum for their animals. let me explain. they have adult bearded dragons (had 3 2 weeks ago) now they have 1, in a small tank without any of the proper basking spots or anything. they also had a beardie with tail rot who wasn't there anymore today, they have a ferret with an eye infection. i also got my bearded dragon from them and she came to me with scale rot (she is fine now). i just think they need to research the proper care for these animals, they are giving beginners the wrong advice and the wrong resources. it makes me upset because they literally sell the correct stuff for at least a good beginner tank but they recommend the incorrect items. the tanks were gross as well. i have pictures. one of the bearded dragons had been eating his own poop and i saw 2 leapord geckos fighting (biting) eachother. my friend got her crested gecko from here and they were literally hitting the hide upside down trying to get her out and dropped her so me and my friend had to grab her for them and put her in the carrier, it's ridiculous. if they are scared or don't know how to properly handle animals to help customers then they need to be taught differently or they don't need to work there!! that crested gecko could've very easily dropped its tail! the employee literally admitted to use of not knowing how to handle the crestie! they also tried to sell me half dead meal worms. the customer service is okay and they are usually pretty stocked but they need to do more research on the animals they house. or at least train their associates!

I've been to Petco a few times since they opened several months ago. After a bad experience at PetSmart's grooming department, I refused to go back. When I found out that Petco had opened in Suffolk, I decided to give them a try. This location is easily accessible next to Kroger Marketplace. Here are my pros and cons at Petco: Pros: *I love their Pals Rewards Program! You earn 5% back on everything you buy and you receive 5 Reward Dollars for every $100 spent. When a bag of dog food costs about $50, it doesn't take long to get to $100! Their rewards program is way better than PetSmart's program. Honestly, if I continue to use Petco when I move, it will be because of their rewards program. *I appreciate the signs that say, "Petco encourages you to always consider adoption as the first option when thinking about adding a new companion to your family. Petco, the Petco Foundation and petfinder.com will help you find the perfect pet." https://www.petco.com/think-adoption-first *Their website has tons of information: https://community.petco.com/ Cons: *I find their store to be small and poorly laid out. *I was disappointed to find out that they also have a grooming department. In my opinion, grooming animals at places like this makes for extremely stressful experiences--they pack in as many animals as they can. For the record, I haven't tried Petco's Groomers (and I won't). With that being said, this store has been empty when I've been there, so the groomers might have a light workload at the moment. That's good for your furry friend.

Hi pooch, were you groomed by a toddler?
    Mark Y.

Never spending another dime here. Totally unprofessional during a grooming of my 2 golden doodles. They literally shaved one dog to the skin and started on the other, but abruptly stopped and advised we needed to take her to the vet to finish. It is never acceptable to groom a dog in a fashion such that on its next outing, people point and laugh.

I went here to get my dog groomed and they butchered my dog. They started to cut him and then told me they couldn't finish because he was too matted. If you are a professor dog groomer, would you noticed the mattes before starting the groom. Mind this happened when the Pandemic was a huge concern, and no groomers were really opened. I traveled all the way from Brooklyn NY to get my dog groomed because New York was still under a lockdown. Then when I come and get my dog, they had cut his harness off and gave me back some cheap collar I couldn't even use because my dog and Shih Tzu and they must use a harness as their trachea's are too short. Worst experience ever

To the employee who very rudely told me to clean up my dog poop, I was getting to it. I carry doggie bags on my keys.
    Taylor S.

To the employee across the street who just had to yell "can you clean up his poop?!" Yes, I was getting to it, generally when you are holding your dogs in one had, two boxes and important paperwork on your dogs vaccinations in the other; it's difficult to do at the same time. I have doggie bags on my keys, that I used before I went into petco and inside the store when my second dog had an accident. I am very good at cleaning up after my dogs. I just needed to take five steps to put some stuff in my car so I could free up one of my hands. Maybe next time assess the situation before you rudely yell and embarrass a customer in front of six other people. Otherwise every other employee was very nice and had great social skills. The store is smaller than I'm used to. The only reason I came was for the wellness center for my dogs yearly shots, they were very nice and understanding. Thankfully I have a store closer to my home and don't have to return again.

I picked my dog up from getting groomed and they didn't even do his legs! They did the back legs and left the front ones looking HORRIBLE! I don't even want to go back edit: got offered a refund. nice place just a simple mistake

That insight alone helped us understand our dog on a completely different level. Her training techniques were clear, effective, and easy to apply at home even though we only have few sessions. Instead of just telling us what to do, she explained why certain methods work, which made a huge difference in how consistent and confident we felt during training. You can tell she genuinely cares--not just about training the dog, but about making sure the owners are set up for long-term success. The guidance she provided has made everyday interactions with our dog so much smoother. Highly recommend her to anyone looking for a knowledgeable, patient, and effective dog trainer. Thank you Dory! We found Dory through recommendations by friends and started working with her with private lessons. For us, this was the best way to begin. Dory did a GREAT job training Stitch and me on how to be a better dog and dog person. After we completed our private lessons, she invited us to observe one of her group classes. After his initial vocalizations, I applied the techniques Dory taught me to get him to settle down. In no time he was quietly sitting and watching, and NOT barking. Near the end of her class, she invited me to walk Stitch around the group and NOTHING! We were ALL amazed! I'm looking forward to continue OUR training with Dory by taking her group classes. They had a fight in the morning and a second one in the evening. The dogs were left unattended, together during day play. The "handlers" apparently blew the airhorns to get the other dog to stop attacking my dog, that didn't work so then ran to get Adam. What if he wasn't there? My dog would probably not be here today. My dog and the other dog were put back together later the same day, which does not make any sense to anyone with a functioning brain. I didn't know the extent of my dogs injuries due to the attack. Adam tried to negotiate with me to pay the vet bill from his vet even before me being able to see my dog. MY DOG GOT ATTACKED DUE TO YOUR NEGLIGENCE. He offered to give me a free week if I paid $500-600 for the vet bill. Just goes to show you how absolutely money hungry he is and what he's willing to put at risk ( YOUR DOG). I took my dog to our regular vet that Thursday and he had to have 2 drains surgically put into his leg to let it drain and keep swelling down. Not once did Adam apologize for what happened. Not once did he express any compassion or sympathy. That's when I realized it's all just money for him. You and your dog are just another dollar sign to him. This is just a warning for those of you thinking of coming here. He hires people off the street who have 0 dog training or experience with handling dogs to work for him. He is an extremely rough handler, i've watched him myself. The things that are done to your dog when no one is watching makes my blood boil. Please think twice about what may happen to your pup while in their care. My dog paid the price, don't let yours also. We've had a long 3 years of recovery for my dog to be able to trust other people and dogs again. He will never be the dog that he was before because of Adam and Obedient Paws. They were very knowledgeable and very pleasant. Based on our observations, I would recommend zoom room for groups and group training. But unfortunately I wouldn't recommend private lessons. Our new rescue puppy did have some temperament issues and they said that private would be better place to start. The only training that was offered was click training. It's a very methodical approach that takes a lot of time and patience. The trainer was very well-versed in this method but the bottom line is that one type of traing doesn't fit all. This was the only method that was offered. They didn't give us the handouts in the beginning, which would've greatly assisted us assimilating the rules and expectations of click training. They gave it to us after three sessions and we paid for four 30 minute sessions. This sessions were conducted in the main room of the facility. Unfortunately, we could hear clicking sounds from people waiting for the next group lesson which totally threw off our dog's training and was an expensive waste of precious of time. So I would definitely not recommend private training at this facility - especially at $75 for 30 minutes! On a personal note, we eventually solved the problem by having our dog visit daycare on a regular basis. Our rescue puppy simply needed exposure to other dogs and a whole lot of TLC!
