Had my dog go here for a grooming appt and it went great. Staff was very friendly. Staff outside of grooming dept was friendly as well. I love the limited places that I can go to without my pitbull mixed dog getting judged. Grooming appt was pricey but it didn't take very long. About 2 hours. My dog smelled the same way i brought him! although they promised me they will cut his nails, they are still long and he keeps scratching me! No waste your money! I have used the grooming service twice recently and have had great experiences. Cassandra is amazing and you can tell that she genuinely enjoys what she does. With our puppy being new to the groomers, she has been doing extra things to help her get comfortable and used to the process. She is also super thorough in making sure all policies are followed. If I would have known, I could have brought a reusable bag BUT surprise. Rude and dismissive front desk person. Made me anxious which made my dog anxious. Made no effort to work with my dog who is an anxious pup, but is used to grooming. The other groomer did try to approach my dog, but I explained she is not great while I'm still present. My dog nipped which I'm sorry about and made her unable to be groomed, but I think if they had a better attitude about the whole thing, it probably wouldn't have gone down that way. read more

Well to start off!! I am not a cat person usually, but when I was getting off work one night this little kitten jumped on the back of my pants and so I sat down and she was all over me. He surprised me with a awesome $100.00 gift card for my sweet kitty, Gypsy! Petco absolutely has everything a person needs to welcome home a new kitten, cat, puppy or dog. They had a wonderful clearance bin with so many awesome toys, treats and collars. Then I went all over the store looking around. Everything was very organized and clean. I went to the cat aisle and I was like wow! They had everything I needed to get set up for my kitten. Toys, cat nip filled toys, collars, harnesses, leashes, scratch pads, many different litter boxes, rubber mats for stepping out of the cat litter box and specialty foods. My guy has this very awesome litter box. The first time I visited his house I didn't even know he had a litter box! I bought the same litter box. It's a Tidy Cat Breeze with pellets and pads. If you haven't tried this litter box you should. I just couldn't do the traditional kitty litter. It felt so dirty all the time. The Breeze is so clean and neat. It was worth every penny! I had a $100 gift card and I was able to get everything I needed for my new kitten. The prices at Petco are very reasonable! read more

The customer service is absolutely the worst I have ever received. I went in to exchange a bag of dog food and was met with resistance. Kimberly was not trying to work with me to do this exchange told me that the bag Im trying to return must of been on sale because she didn't understand that I have vital care premier and I used my discounts to purchase the original bag and that the tag on their shelf for exact bag is $10 cheaper since the price on the shelf hadn't been changed since 3/3/24. They were not wanting to call customer service to give me my rewards as it would be much faster for them to call so we can make this exchange I also wasn't offered any solutions to make the exchange for a bag of food that's the exact same price. She was rude and seemed to have no idea what she was doing since she couldn't read the receipt stating that I have vcp and I used rewards on the original purchase or how to properly go about solving this problem. I'll stay at the harker heights store and wait however long it takes for the DC to replenish this food instead of coming to temple and wasting my time with people who have zero knowledge on how to deliver excellent customer service like the harker heights Petco does. read more

I always come here for my dads cat food and my dog food since it's next to his apartment and I finally Told him today, never again lol: they never have the nutro wet food or any grooming tools that i can find anyways.. The blades rack is empty every time and they always say they will get more in but it's been months. The grooming section is always piled with boxes so I can never get over there easily and the staff is never available. On one occasion I can hear them yelling back and fourth to each other complaining about the work environment. So that was super tacky. Not to mention the mess the store always is. The bathroom was awful. Smelled like pee to the max. I usually buy my tools on Amazon but I didn't want to wait for delivery so I checked this store. I have a newborn soon and my husbands deployed so I have been relying on the curbside since it's more hassle to take car seat out and all that but lately I get attitude from some employee there when she brings it out to me. Such rude management. And Rude employees. Will never be going here again. Customer service means NOTHING to them. They have 1 groomer who can't even do her job correctly. I had called multiple times to get ahold of the manager and she's never there. Finally I reach her, and she starts out SO DEFENSIVE. I was calm and respectful and wanted to address the problem, she wanted nothing to do with it. She had offered to re-wash my dogs and try again since they couldn't get my dog to stay on the table(never had this issue with past groomers) but they were going to charge me full price for it. Our dogs have been to pet co grooming multiple times and we have never had an issue, once our normal groomer had quit petco we tried it once more with the only groomer they had and they couldn't get the job done. Will not be spending a dime here. Absolutely ridiculous. I cannot get over how rude the manger was. read more

If I could leave no stars I would i took my dog on my day off to get groomed and it was raining so my dog was already nervous and not wanting to leave the house. I drop me off and wait for the rain to let up and head home . As I am parking they call me and say my dog might have ring worm and that they can no longer finish there services. So I make an appointment with my vet and pick my dog up she is soaking wet and crying when she sees me the lady shows me the spot and mind you it's still raining so I take my wet dog out in the rain to the vet and spend 80 dollars just so they can say it's a bruise that might have looked red because of the hair dyer being pointed at it. Got my dog groomed here, the lady had an attitude, charged me for "matting" my dog is an inside dog and gets baths and brushed in between grooms, there was no matting. The groom was horrible as well, some parts are all the way to the skin and other parts are longer. They had my dog for five hours and we got an attitude, overpriced and a cut that looked rushed. On May 28, 2013 my mother took our dog, Ivori, to Petco in Temple, TX to be groomed. When she went back to pick her up and they brought her out she noticed our baby had two large lumps over her left eye, as well as swelling, bruising and contusions over the bridge of her nose. My mother immediately addressed her concerns to the grooming manager, Jaime, whom usually grooms her but passed her on to the bather, Rachel, because she was overbooked. Although Jaime was apologetic, she acknowledged the fact that our baby did not arrive that way but offered no answers. She did, however, suggest my mother take her to their preferred vet (Temple Veterinary Hospital) for an examination and let her know the visit would be covered. But, before they would release Ivori to her for care she had to pay for the grooming bill first, and then she would be refunded the cost when she returned. She was APPAULED but complied so that Ivori could receive the medical attention she needed. My mother immediately notified us of the incident and we rushed to meet them at the hospital. By the time we got there my mother and Ivori had already been seen by the veterinarian. When we arrived we were in disbelief at the size of the lumps, and then we noticed that Ivori was really quite dazed and aloof - not our typical happy princess. According to Dr. Gary L. Gosney, Ivori's lumps were in fact "hematomas that were apparently caused by blunt force trauma from someone hitting or striking her about the head and crest of eye." He prescribed her anti-inflammatories and gave her an injection for immediate pain relief and inflammation. We all returned to Petco to address our concerns to Jaime and the store manager, and find out what happened. The store manager, David, vehemently denied any wrong doing by suggesting that our baby "must've hit her own head on the kennel" and that "Rachel wouldn't hurt a fly... She's too sweet." Really? Our beloved Ivori wouldn't hurt a fly... She's too sweet AND gentle! He displayed disdainful, blatant disrespect to my mother and me when we asked if there were cameras in the back. He said no and continuously placed blame on Ivori stating, "She did it to herself," as if our princess would ever - could ever inflict wounds upon herself. Why would she especially since this had never occurred before? David continued to deny ANY responsibility on Petco's and Rachel's behalf even after Jaime showed my mother the kennel where Ivori was held - it was the same size as she. Prior to leaving David refunded our money, and then we stopped to thank Jaime for her honesty and professionalism. However, Rachel hasn't apologized for her gross misconduct and abuse to our sweetheart of a dog, nor have we received an apology from David. I am frustrated with how Petco grossly mishandled this situation after all; our five-year-old baby girl was abused while under their care that is UNACCEPTABLE! I've reported them to the police and I am pressing charges for animal cruelty. My advice, go elsewhere for your grooming and pet needs!!!! read more

Really disgusting poorly managed store. Aquatics is a total mess, reptiles are grossly taken care of and small animals look like they're all infested with ringworm. Not only is there poor animal care, the place is dirty and filled with dust and cobwebs. The management is extremely rude. I overheard supposed general manager call one of her employees "f'ing retarded".... seriously?? The supposed animal specialist is a bigger old women that is extremely rude and doesn't know much. The staff here are very nice. My issue is with the smell. This place ALWAYS smells like dog urine. I know you can bring your dog into Petco, I occasionally bring mine with me. But the smell really hits you hard when you go in. No other Petco or Petsmart's smell of dog urine. I think the place needs a good cleaning and unfortunately they haven't done that in a long time. For 5 years I have taken our pet to the groomers at 9:00am. I recently went and the groomers were closed for another hour. I was rudely told that the hours were posted on the window. Not a I'm sorry but we changed hours or that they were sorry for the confusion. I was left to think I was stupid for not knowing the hours. I met a customer in the parking lot with his pet that did not know either. I spend a fair amount of money at this store, but rest assured the business will never get another penny from me or any family member. There is another business locally. read more

We waited a really long time to get our dog's haircut and so she had lot of mats in her undercoat. When we took our dog today to get groomed, we told them that they could just shave her if they needed to. When I went to pick her up, I was pleasantly surprised to find they had combed all the mats out and gave her a regular schnauzer cut. Then they also gave us two treat bags for it taking a little longer than normal. Petco went above and beyond what was expected! Thanks! read more

I was very put off by their on staff dog trainer. I recently brought my rescue dog into the store to buy a new Gentle Leader. He is a GSD/Rott mix so very strong smelling skills, very distracting. This collar keeps him from just dragging his nose across the ground. I know how to use this tool because I myself am a dog trainer. Now I know my dog and he is very alert to the energy people put out, the moment we walked into that area he became very alert. I quickly notice the dog trainer trying to make very strong eye contact towards my dog in a manner that only he didn't like but I myself didn't feel comfortable with. Now having been through many of the same courses as this trainer i couldn't understand why she felt trying to hold eye contact with a dog she has not had any interaction with from across the store was a helpful thing but it made him very uneasy. So quickly realizing this was not where he wanted to be I grabbed my items and calmly made my way to the register, where said trainer followed us to. She then said she noticed he wouldn't hold eye contact with her earlier, which I'm sorry but I don't even like strong eye contact so please don't expect him to, and usually he does with most people. We call it "Look at Me" and it's in a happy manner not dominating as hers felt. My real complaint here is that as a professional she should know how to read a dog's energy and respond in a manner that is to help the dog and leave it with a good feeling when it's leaving. read more

I visited the Temple Texas Petco on 8/11/2019 to purchase some equipment for my aquarium and saw a couple of fish I wanted to purchase. I stood in front of the aquariums where the fish were located while everyone else around me were being helped. I guess nobody could see me because everyone left the aquarium area with me standing there. I can see how easy it is to miss me. After all I am a 5'9" 260lb black guy. NO heating, NO lighting, and a dead beardie! the tank was filthy and all other surrounding tanks (save the chameleon at the front of the aisle) were in the same if not worse condition! No help could be found to complain to about the horrid conditions these animals were in. The muzzle was for precaution I have a 5 month old American bully and for my birthday my husband got me a Miniature Dotson and I wanted the muzzle just in case my bully Snipped at the puppy no other use my dogs are not mean or Aggressive when my 15 year old daughter went to go find someone to help use she found one of the guys who works there she explained what we needed and why he got very upset with her and while she was explaining the concerns he told her to hush and they walked to where I was standing I then explained to him my concerns and even showed him both animals and he then got very mad explaining to me the muzzle is a punishment and I explained that it was only a precaution he then tried to sell me training lessons and I said no I already tired that with Petco and that went no where... He then got even more mad and said fine just get what your wanting and then turned back to my daughter and told her she was holding the Dog leash wrong and started telling her how to do it.. I then went to get my puppy a sweater and a dog tag and went back to him to check out once I paid and he gave me the receipt I then had to ask him for my bag he just looked at me so I had to grab it myself I then walked to the machine to get her name in gravered on the tag my daughters and I heard him telling his coworkers and other customers what I bought and basically telling them I was a horrible person for doing that to my dog and he couldn't believe I even had animals and that I was crazy I left the store crying I called my husband and he went to talk to the manager and him no one would call the manager or give him the managers name or number and told him to leave or they would call the police we called corporate and they told us someone would call us back and we haven't heard from anyone!!!! I will never go here again!!! I have told all my pet owner friends and they as well will never go there!!!!
