The dog grooming department I've taken my dog bear two times in the second time was terrible. They didn't have as good as job as they did the first time and they stood with my dog for four hours had an appointment from 1 o'clock. He wasn't ready until 4 PM. I'm torn over the fact that the chain has a great selection of things for my cats because I would shop there for that alone. However when pre-shopping for what I wanted online, the website said that the store was out of stock on things that I did happen to find. I pulled the store site up on my phone to see the picture of the item I was looking for and on one place the page said the item was not available for pick up and on another it said low in stock so I asked an employee and she said that customers were not allowed to purchase low on stock items because when people come in, the store would like for them to be able to see the item there. So I said so I can look at an item that you have....so I can see it but I can't buy it? I did not say this but why not just let someone buy the last of the stock and then people who come in for it will just have to live with seeing that it's out of stock instead of being able to see it, but not buy it so that way other people can see it and not buy it too? You could just let someone buy it and then people who can't buy it because its gone just will have to deal with not being able to buy it because the products that are there aren't for purchase, they're just for decorations. So in trying to get the girl to see how that did not make sense another employee said oh it's out of stock. So I said (already annoyed by the explanation of you can't buy things like in stock because we need the stock of things that are low to remain unbought until reorder so that way people can see things that they can't buy instead of see that they can't buy things because they're gone,), it doesn't matter. Both employees were uninterested jerks. If the site is slow to update inventory fine. Maybe you can't purchase items if their low in stock instead of out. It's a weird one ive never heard of. You have a lot of stuff though. Ill try another location. Hopefully their staff won't be @$&h0!3$. read more

This is my go-to pet care store in the area. Every time I walk in I make my way to the cats available for adoption. They seem to have a quick turnaround so keep up the good work animal adopters! I am a cat owner so I typically stock up on cans of cat food and a big bag of kitty litter. The prices are fair and I always swipe my petco pals card to receive sale prices. No bathrooms for the public for over two years now... I like this Petco. It generally tends to have friendly, helpful employees. However, I was recently in there and suddenly really needed to go - only to find the restroom doors locked, with signs saying "temporarily closed". Also recently, my wife was there with our 16-month-old daughter, when she realized there was a poopy diaper situation at hand. She wanted to use a bathroom to change the diaper, but no dice... restrooms unavailable. I took a photo of the sign. I remembered seeing it perhaps a year ago - exact same sign, still there. Went in to look for a crate mat for my dog. The large started at close to $60!!!! for just a mat! It's a piece of foam with cloth. Then was trying to find a harness for said dog, inventory is not good, absolutely NO ONE around to ask for help. Went up to check out with one item I found. That whole interaction was about as blah as possible, no greeting or being pleasant. Was rung up, I waited for it to be bagged and the guy just stood there. I asked if I needed a bag and he said that would be 10 cents. Didn't take the bag. Good grief what's happened to retail?! I went with a friend and her dog looking for cat food. The first thing that struck me was that the floors were dirty. I wouldn't want to bring a pet to this store. They have a wide variety of the things they have-like cat food, dog food, toys, etc. I never saw anyone on the floor available to answer questions or to provide assistance. I have never dealt with discrimination from pet co. And today I did. I wanted to purchase the 36 cent fish's because I am Iranian. And our New Years is this month (March) and as part of a traditional table setting we have fish . We already have a fish tank, cycled with water as well. The gentlemen is questioning me and asked why I am purchasing the fish, I told him "we are Iranian and have been living in tucson for 17 years and part of our New Years traditional table side culture is to purchase fish" he said "we DENY when Iranians come to purchase the fish because they just die and are not well taken care of. I want to make sure the fish are well taken care of" I said "excuse me but I have 11 dogs, 2 turtles, and 2 parakeets we take great care of our animals if we didn't I would not just come to purchase these fish" and he said "I'm sorry I can't sell them to you" he absolutely 100% did not want to sell them to me because he assumed as I am Iranian and the purpose of my visit is to buy the fish so they can just die. Pet co is a professional industry that takes care of their animals differently compared to civilians outside in the community. There is 0% animal cruelty inside of my household. And this gentlemen assumed I would not take care of these fish because I am Iranian. For him to say he Denies Iranians IS VERY DISRESPECTFUL. And extremely discriminate. I have reported this to their Regional Office as I will not allow this type of behavior to occur. My fish tank has a filtered water cycle and is very clean and taken care of perfectly. Following his bath and nail trim, Peanut was just fine. He came home and had no issues. After his bath at another store, he slept and was lethargic for 2 days! Being an 8+ month old puppy who is a rescue, he most likely never had a bath before we got him. Sophia is a kind lady and said that at first he was nervous but then settled down and was all wags and kisses. We will be having her be our groomer from now on. read more

I had treated him the night before with flea meds, so he couldn't get a flea dip. They carried him in nicely (he was pretty shy) and when he came out, he looked so happy... I adopted a 2 month old kitten here from one of the SAFE adoptions and he turned out to have ringworm (which he definitely got while he was in his foster home) and developed patches less than a week after he was home with us. He's the sweetest kitten ever and we've been forced to keep him in quarantine for 8 out of the 9 weeks that we've had him. We keep our other animals up to date on shots and everything and NONE of them (2 dogs and a cat) have gotten ringworm since or have ever had it. My boyfriend and I also just visited this Petco and saw that one of the kittens in their little adoption center definitely had ringworm (2 large patches on the ear and tail) and told one of the store clerks who was unfriendly and told us they were in the last stages of it. The kitten was definitely not in the last stages, ours is in its last stages and you can hardly see the patches and most of his fur has grown back. The kitten with ringworm was also in the adoption unit with about 5 other kittens who likely also have it now. I can tell you that treating ringworm is a giant inconvenience and they should be ensuring that their kittens have a clean bill of health before they are adopted out. We have family friends who foster kittens in Phoenix and they said that ringworm was going around a lot of the kitten populations in Arizona - if this is true then foster homes and kitten adoption places should be getting their kittens ringworm cultures before letting them be adopted. It's not fair to the cat or the person adopting him/her. read more

I went for grooming but bought out the store. I have a very active Corgi and when another big box store on river bathed her and tried to cut her nails, they told me they could not and to have her sedated. YOU MUST try the girls here at Petco Grooming on Wetmore!! Not only was the bath perfect, they informed me that they tag teamed and easily got her nails trimmed. This was the third groomers we had used, and the ONLY ones who have the skills to clip an active pups nails. Everyone in the store was helpful! Horrible! I had taken my beloved poodle mix to this Petco location and he received a fantastic haircut. The next two times he was faced with doggy discrimination and what can only be described as torture of the scrotum. A back alley groomer with two-toned hair accused him of having lice but was unable to produce evidence of said lice. When he received his second haircut from her he was returned to me short and choppy, and his scrotum was red and raw. She had shaved his poor scrotum roughly down to the skin leaving it chafed and painful. I will not be returning, and neither will my poodle mix. read more

We use this store for grooming our 12 year old Cockapoo. Although she's blind she still loves to have a bath and haircut. Nick usually does her spa day and he's fabulous. She always looks great and he keeps his eye out for any skin problems. We've been elsewhere in a pinch and we're not impressed. The folks here are kind and patient with the animals and our girl seems to love them. The store itself is a bit small and not the fanciest but the prices are great and the people friendly and helpful. read more

I went into this petco asking for an inch off all around to even her out. When I went to pick her up from the groomer julie, Julie came out explaining "she just decided to start going with it". This is not at all what I asked for and my dog has been negatively impacted by this haircut and has not been the same since. She cries constantly, can't sleep, and has a completely different personality and it breaks my heart. The groomer decided to take creative freedom with my dog and now me and my dog both have to pay the price. Not what I asked for and my dog is suffering. -100/10 experience. This Petco is clean, well organized, and has mostly friendly staff. I have not had an issue with this Petco in the 6 years I have been living here, until today. Upon entering the store I heard a worker (not sure of his name) stating he could not sell a couple fish and a fish tank because it would kill them if the tank wasn't cycled. I understand this completely; however, being more tactful about it would have went a long way. The people left immediately and I do not blame them. Then a lady and her son were looking at the fish and I guess the boy touched the tank. The worker came up and said he would like to ask them not to touch the tank. Then he asked how he could help. They said they were looking to add another fish to their tank. The worker then begins asking a series of questions and then concluded with saying he could not sell them any fish because their tank was too over crowded. The customers left immediately. Then I went to look at the fish. I had no intention of buying any. I was just looking! Worker came up and asked if I needed help. I said no I was just looking. Then he asks me WHAT SIZE and KINDS of tanks I had. Not to make conversation, but to see if he could also tell me I wasn't going to be buying any fish in that store. Gee whiz. I understand the workers wanting the fish to go to well equipped homes, but please do not belittle people who are wanting to learn about fish! Educate customers, do NOT judge them. read more

4 1/2 hours to bathe and groom a dog? Then I got there and she revealed she couldn't do everything because my dog was too difficult. Before she started, she told she just got her license last week. I should have left at that point. Obviously, she doesn't have the experience to do the job properly. I don't want to pay for someone's on the job training. Not surprised though considered the poorly educated work force here in Tucson. Petco is obviously just another big company only interested in profits, and not spending the money to properly train their employees. I won't be returning and suggest that you avoid this company as well. When I called them, waited ten minutes and tried to speak with someone "offshore" who obviously could barely speak English. When, at my insistence, I was transferred to "somebody in America," that rep told me, you'll have to go to the location. I won't be returning to any Petco location ever. read more

This was my first time coming to this location and my experience was absolutely amazing. Everyone was so nice and helpful. I was politely greeted when I walked through the door and was promptly attended by an employee. I had several questions about fish that I wanted to address with one of their personal. I love this store. Everyone who works here is professional, polite, and most of all extremely knowledgeable. I have a rambunctious German Shepard and the grooming department takes extra steps to ensure his comfort and safety. Brian is our guy! We have been very pleased every time we take our dog to him for grooming and he takes the time to bond with your dog. We also take training classes here and we could not be happier. Nick is such an incredible teacher, who is extremely knowledgable, patient, and so passionate about his doggy students. He takes the time to answer any questions and address any concerns we may have about that lesson, or about our dogs behavior in general. His advice is always well thought out and his experience really shows. We couldn't ask for a better person to help us with our dog and we are very glad we found Nick. read more

This Petco isn't too bad. It's not the fanciest, if you're comparing it to the newest one off of Cortaro, but it still isn't as awful as the one on E. Broadway. Every time I've visited here it's been clean and would bring my dog here without hesitation. I've never had any issues with customer service and they are always reasonable with any manufacturer coupons. They offer a large variety of pet food brands you can't get at Petsmart or other stores. Good selection of food and bedding, but selection of pet clothing and accessories such as leashes/collars are sparse. They regularly don't offer a lot of items you will find on their online store, but for the most part this place has everything I need. As far as grooming products sold here, they over a decent selection of store brand (generic) that is good quality and costs a lot less. I would recommend this store over the E. Broadway Petco because it is newer, cleaner, and larger, and over both of the other Petco's because both of the other stores carry even less products (food, clothing, accessories) than this one. read more

We had found a kitten we were really fond of and filled out all the paperwork and were told to come back the following day with cash to pick up our new addition. When we returned the following day our baby had been adopted out and nobody could locate our information and told us these things happen. Took my lab in to get his nails cut. The first employee was very rude because I asked her to call the vets to verify his shots were up to date. The second employee seems to be put off when I said that lab had bad hips and may have issues with his back legs. When I got him back my son and I couldn't see any difference in the nails that they said they trimmed. Won't be taking him or any of my others there again read more

Do NOT take your dog for grooming at this store. After having spent over 15 minutes on the phone to schedule a full grooming, they booked my Great Pyrenees, Blanco, for only a bath and a brush out. I took the dog into the grooming area. I was immediately met by a very rude groomer who told us in no uncertain terms that we did not belong there. There was no sign on the door indicating that there was no entry. There was no one at the reception desk. A manager came and explained away the problem by telling us that people "just knew" not to go into the grooming area. She then invited us to sit for a half hour and wait. After learning that the groomer did not have time to do a full grooming, we left. I would not leave my worst enemy with that groomer, leave alone my beloved Blanco!! read more

Be very careful of prices rung up, especially for sacks of dry dog food. On my last four visits to this and another Tucson Petco store, the prices rung up on the register were far higher than those posted on the shelf. They claimed - as they do every time - that it is a computer error. But four times in a row makes me suspect they are either totally incompetent or fraudulent. I filed a consumer fraud complaint.
