He said because I asked for an estimate , they will not go to the job site until I agree for them to start cutting pipe . I have not worked with this company , so I was unwilling to give him that permission . I ended up using a plumber I know to be able to solve problems . ( no pipe was cut ). Blocked a cross walk and almost got me and my dog hit by another car who was turning when we had to walk behind his truck to pass (if we would have walked in front we would have been hit by busy traffic. Than goodness the turning driver saw the situation and didn't hit us. The Pete's plumbing truck saw all of this and still didn't care/wouldn't move and continued to block the crosswalk without turning though he easily could have backed up. He had seen me and my dog approach and gave us a look like we would have to wait for him, but he wasn't turning and wouldn't back up, he was simply blocking access for and thus endangering pedestrians. Watch out for pedestrians and follow the law!l and stay out of pedestrian crosswalks! I woke up at 5:30 this morning to the sound of water gushing outside. I finally located the source of the sound at the front of my house next to the water faucet. There was a big water leak/gushing making a puddle/river and running down our DG walkway to the street. I knew enough to turn off the water. It looked like it had been leaking for hours. I wasn't sure who to call so I started with DWP who said it was a homeowner issue. So I called our plumber, Pete the Plumber at 7am. Their call service said that they'd get back to me asap. 20 minutes later, the office manager called me back and patiently listened to my story and told me she would get the guys out here first thing - as soon as they came in. Efrain and his assistant arrived at 9:30 and assessed the situation. A portion of the pipe connecting the sprinkler system needed to be replaced. They had all their tools with them and had everything done in a half hour. Efrain showed me the hole in the ground and told me they would come back to turn the water on in 24 hours but I told them that I can do that myself. All in all, it was a very good experience with Pete's excellent service. We have used Pete the Plumber for over five years and are always happy with their work. I was sent two young men one of which had no experience and the other kept the bathroom door closed so he could talk with the boss. They were useless...the second set left me with no hot water at all and a constant stream of water running out of the faucet. We have a gurgling sound in one of our bathrooms and have had Pete the plumber out three times already. They proposed multiple solutions on the second visit that they were supposed to implement on the third but didn't do a single one of them, just more snaking. I watched one of the guys they sent texting away and cursing talking about how he didn't want to be here all day. Later one of their employees told me he usually only worked in the office. Avoid these guys, they're no more cost effective than other plumbers and there are issues with work ethic and work quality. Very impressed. I called late in the afternoon and spoke with Janet, who efficiently took down a description of my branch line clog and told me they'd have someone at my place in twenty minutes. It didn't even take that long. The guys were polite and friendly, carried up all their tools on the first trip, and got right down to business. I'd had a different plumber in just hours earlier who seemed honest and professional but couldn't snake the clog and wanted to open up the wall. The guys from Pete's used a smaller snake but had some tricks up their sleeve, put in a good bit of elbow grease, and removed the clog without touching the wall. My experience with Pete the Plumber has been a completely different story. A positive one. They came quickly, fixed the problem and charged reasonably - compared to my previous experiences. I was able to talk to the guys and together agree on the best course of action until we got the problem fixed. My neighbor also uses them and keeps calling them back when needed. The work that they completed at my building cost me hundreds of dollars and was a complete waste of time, as I had to have a different company come out the next day and take care of the issue. To make matters worse, when I called to lodge a complaint, the staff completely disregarded my concerns and stood by their plumber. The staff has no idea what the word customer service means and are completely arrogant on the phone. I think they need a lesson in basic customer service skills. This is my first yelp review but I'm motivated to share my unsatisfactory experience with Pete the Plumber. They did not explain pricing over the phone. When I scheduled an appointment on a weekend, they failed to explain the excessive overcharges for weekend service and failed to produce an invoice onsite. I was notified later that a simple clog ended up costing me over $500. To add insult to injury, the clog returned a week later. I called a the company again to return and remedy the problem since it didn't last 7 days. They wanted to charge me another $230 to tell me the drain was fine.
