The West Bloomfield store rarely has chocolate cheesecake so we went to the Oak Park location (45 min drive) because they promised to hold one for us there. Left right away and got there and were told someone sold a piece out of the cheesecake they were holding and so they gave us a discount which ended up being only $2 less than I paid at other location. Love the cheesecake but not sure its worth the long drives and high prices. read more

Banana pudding if off the chart! Ripe bananas, but still a little firm, pudding is not boxed pudding, cream cheese makes this decadent, and the nilla wafers are still crispy. MY SUGGESTION: On the cheesecake, PLEASE don't use that cheap, nasty spray bottle whipping cream. This was terrible. You have mixers, so 1/2 gallon whipping cream and 1/2 cup sugar will fill a few piping bags :). But the cheesecake is lovely after I scraped off that yucky cream:) read more

I was excited to get a sugar-free cheesecake from them for Christmas. My father and brother-in-law need sugar free. I called a day in advance to make sure they had one left and placed an order to reserve one. I came in right when they opened the next day, the day before Christmas, and they had sold them all. Which means they did not reserve one for me, as promised. Why take all my information and give me an order number if you aren't going to actually pull one aside for me? Had I known they might run out (that they don't take orders/hold them), I would have planned differently. I didn't purchase the ingredients to make one myself. Thank goodness the Cheesecake Factory 20 mins way had one. But I had to wait an hour in line to get that one, losing 2 hours of my day that I didn't plan for. The lady at the register at Peteet's was kind and apologetic and when I attempted to purchase a slice she did give it to me for free. That was kind. However, I won't order from there again because now I know they are not reliable. I won't risk that again on a holiday. (They did have a sugar free sweet potato cheesecake, but I wouldn't have come there for that. The men in my family wouldn't want that and it wasn't what I was looking for.) read more

It shouldn't be allowed to be called cheesecake!!! Don't believe the hype! The pieces were tiny, and they cost quite a bit considering the size. The flavor was terrible, just God-awful. Too sweet, I got the 'chocolate' flavored piece. It's in quotes because I think chocolate was either a description or a suggestion, because it certainly wasn't the flavor. The texture was all wrong. It was like they barely used cream cheese in this. It was like 1 part cream cheese and 8 parts whipped topping (I don't e even think they used whipped cream) I was so disappointed I ate half and threw the rest away. It was a waste of money and time. Three words: sweet potato cheesecake. Go on, order some, and you will be done with the rest of the review. Now, moving right along, I've driven by Peteet's probably every working day since October but didn't have the chance to sample them until I went to the Yelp! year-end bash at Detroit Yacht Club. To add to a magical setting and many lovely people, I had a chance to have a tiny bite of this enchanting cheesecake. It damn near melted on my tongue. I closed my eyes, ignored the half-naked burlesque dancers strutting on the stage, and let my thoughts dissolve into feline bliss. This is the stuff that children live for, and adults too often let pass them by. Damn. Good. Cheesecake. I would have helped myself to more were I 1) not watching my diet, 2) mindful of others trying the nummies of the divine, 3) certain they'd tell me "no more for you." Well, the two Peteet's staffers were munching on a piece of cheesecake during the burlesque performance and I don't blame them one bit. It's too good to resist, and one TINY piece can't hurt, right? I popped into the storefront a few days later. I should note, access off 9 Mile can be pretty harrowing at rush hour with the plethora of oblivious drivers swooning about like a bunch of 19th century waifs in steel dresses. Not the stuff for the faint of heart, go on a weekend if you can manage. Parking is also tight since the off-the-street lots are contested by many businesses and not a few students, I think. Either way, once you're there, the shop caters to making you comfy and luring you in with its rich, addictive, potent cheesecakes. Alas, your dollar won't stretch very far for some of these decadent morsels. Be prepared for a little sticker shock if you've been buying cheesecake in supermarkets or Baker's Square (if they even exist still in Michigan). Full cakes can be close to $30, single pieces more like $3. It's been a little since I saw the menu so don't quote me exactly. Nonetheless, the staff is helpful and happy to let you try some of their varied flavours. My own desire pointed straight to sweet potato, end of story, Heather is happy, leave it be. Key lime is next on the list, and if my beau discovers they have red velvet cake, he's going to set up outside before they open this morning... All of these are rich, luscious, diet-destroying, calorie-laden concoctions that beg to be savoured a bite at a time and in small quantities. You don't get big slices here, and it's probably better that way. I don't know how you measure bang for your buck with cheesecake, but too much would almost destroy the enjoyment for me. Nothing like a griping belly to make you suffer buyer's remorse. I can't make a regular show of popping in here, it's just too rich and too much. I'm not one to give a excellent review for bland food. This is CHEESECAKE OVERLOAD, after the beautiful lady who helped me indulged me with more samples than a (R. Kelly remix) :-) I came for a slice of strawberry-cheesecake, but ended up leaving with four slices of everything but strawberry. Have you ever tasted a dessert so perfect that you are torn between telling everyone you know about it, and wanting to keep the information to yourself - so that way they never sell out of your favorite? That was exactly how I felt when I ate the cookies and cream cheesecake from Peteet's tonight. My sweetest surprised me for Sweetest Day and brought home this amazing cheesecake (we don't normally celebrate it, so this was extra nice). First, the presentation was beautiful - the cheesecake perfectly cooked, with golden brown edges peeking through the top. The top of the cheesecake was covered in crushed Oreo cookies and chocolate syrup, and a small whipped cream ribbon completed the top. It was almost too pretty to eat, but I'm so glad I did - it was as if angels were singing in perfect harmony and hand feeding you, as you're lying on a cashmere couch surrounded by puppies. It was THAT good. Rich, creamy sweet perfection. I've never seen the inside of the store, so I can't speak to its ambiance; nor do I have any idea how much it costs, since I didn't buy it. Decadent cheesecake. I found this place after I donated plasma and waiting on a friend to get out of the Pharmacy next door. I got the Oreo Cookies Cheesecake, which was absolutely out of this world. I also had one of their cheesecake brownies which is frickin' awesome. This place is nothing short of amazing. It is worth every penny, not to mention they accept the Bridge Card (Food Stamps), so you can make it out of there with a cheesecake even if you don't have the cash! Amazing place!!! Plus, I ordered my purchase through post mates which cost us a fee for delivery. So, needless to say, when I receive my order I was hyped! I had been feenin' for some good cheesecake. I opened the bag Oh and to my surprise there were three small container inside here our case that I receive so I can measure it before I ate it. my eyes bucked when I the size of our pieces. So, I took it out the container and put it in the palm of my hand. It was no bigger than the palm of my hand from the little meaty part where your thumb is to the meaty part before you get to your pinky finger. Today was my first time patronizing Peteet's Famous Cheesecakes. My son absolutely loves their Strawberry Delight Cheesecake. Since, today is Tuesday ( the advertised donut special day ) I decided to purchase 1/2 Cheesecake Donuts and one slice of Strawberry Delight Cheesecake. I asked for an assorted variety because there were six different kind of donuts. The young lady went into the back to get them. I wasn't sure why; when there were plenty in the case. Well, let's just say I had been given mostly the least desirable flavor. I had been given 3 strawberry vodka donuts, 1 apple crumb, 1 powdered and 1 chocolate dipped. I was very disappointed. The strawberry vodka donuts had an odd taste, that's probably why I received so many. I'm not sure if I will go back. I feel as a customer I was not valued. My sister and I stopped here on our way to the Michigan Renaissance Festival. It happened to be their third anniversary and they had 20% off any purchase. There was lots to choose from-strawberry shortcake vodka, sweet potato. almond, red velvet, peach cobbler, turtle cheesecake, cookies and cream, Reesey's, lemon, key lime, etc., We chose the cappuccino because it was morning and we needed an eye-opener if we were going to get to the RenFest on time! Peteet's Famous Cheesecake is sooo awesome, better than any other you have had!! You have to try the cappuccino cheesecake! It was so fresh and delicious! They make gluten-free and kosher cakes as well. They also have cheesecake ice cream in key lime and strawberry! The whole family is involved in the making and running of the bakery and their love shows in every bite! They are totally devoted to making the best cheesecake in the world! In 3 years I've watched them go from just cheesecake to cheesecake ice cream and selling cheesecake in major restaurants. It's interesting to watch the growth and still enjoy the same rich cheesecake that I remember when they opened. They are certified Kosher and still offer sugar-free versions. SO my girlfriend and I had a fight, and although it was not my fault (honey, I will explain this to you privately). I need a descent gift along with my apology for her, and I know sweets will do the trick. I searched on Yelp, and this place was hitting five-star rating so I wanted to give it a try. It was a little store with a pretty nice and clean decor. The owner was very friendly, and helpful with the menu. And the store offers a little punch card for customers to get one free slice of cheesecake after they bought 10 slices from the store. I bought 3 slices, one original plain cheesecake, one sweet potato cheesecake, and one raspberry cheesecake. The cheesecakes are rich and tasty, and they made from real ingredients - you can see the strings of the sweet potato, and chunks of raspberry in the cheesecakes. However, the crust was not so good - it's soggy and too sweet to act like a base for the cake portion. Because of the sogginess of the crust, it didn't give a good texture to the overall cake. Also, the price was a little bit expensive for a small slice of cheesecake. My girlfriend and I were disappointed because we were really expecting something amazing with this high rating on Yelp. But it didn't live up to our expectation. read more

Wow. Just.........wow. I can't imagine my life before Peteet's. I was on a quest for wedding cake options in September of 2014 when I came across Peteet's. I fell deliriously in love with the idea of a cheesecake wedding cake but the cost of a three-tiered cheesecake that they offered was far beyond our budget. Instead, we opted for several single cheesecakes. It worked much better for an outdoor, soul-food themed reception anyhow :) These are the flavors we chose: Sweet Potato: Holy mother of sweet potato pie, this cheesecake was fabulous! Many of our guests loved it just as much as we did! Strawberry Shortcake Vodka: I like that the strawberry was blended with the cheesecake. I also liked that you could actually taste the vodka! It was quite scrumptious and definitely a future go-to. Cookies and Cream: Errrmagherrrd, it's Oreo cookie *heaven*. This was a very rich cheesecake because it's not only topped with chocolatey goodness, the crust is also chocolate graham. So consumer beware--just go easy on the slices! Peach Cobbler: Chunks of peaches strewn through the bottom layer of the cheesecake. I liked it but the peaches got a little lost in the strong sweetness of the cheesecake. I felt it needed something more. Key Lime: This pie was a masterful replica of key lime pie. I'd highly recommend this flavor to anyone seeking that refreshing lime flavor. Peteet's nailed it, hands down! I don't know why some folks have given this company poor ratings. I'd say they're not only great people to work with, but they have a great selection of flavors and they'll take suggestions, too! Give them a try. You owe it to your sweet tooth :) read more

Mmmmmmmm! I LOVE cheesecakes, going so far as to have a friend bring me a few back from her go-to spot in NY to eat and store for later eating. It's been a very difficult and challenging road for me as I venture to find cheesecake with the perfect texture, flavor, and downright mouthwatering appeal as those delicious cakes in NY. Alas, I may have found a second contender and as we all know, us gals can love more than one cheesecake. Peteet's has just about every cheesecake flavor possible, including espresso which reaches the inner caffeine addict in me. Creamy, slightly dense, and so flavorful, Peteet's comes in clutch for any occasion. I accompanied a friend to this establishment yesterday after hearing her review about a sweet potato cheesecake. I ordered a carrot cake topped cheesecake for my wife and a caramel apple cheesecake for myself. I set them out for a couple of hours to hit room temperature before eating and DAMN both were delicious. I normally order a plain cheesecake the first time, but since all their cheesecakes were $4.25, I opted for the caramel apple. My wife loves cheesecake and carrot cake and the combination of the two were divine. She also mentioned that their cheesecake does not have raisins for those who prefer no raisins. I really enjoyed their cheesecake in general so I know I will be back soon. I highly recommend this spot for those who love cheesecake. read more

This place makes me happy, happy, happy. Since finding Yelp, I've had my fair share of let-downs while trying out smaller, non-chain places. Thankfully, I didn't have that problem with Peteet's. Not only is the cheesecake and crust really, really good, but the service was outstanding. The front was clean, organized, and there were a ton of available flavors. The guy behind the counter was super friendly. My only criticism is the fruit toppings seem to be the canned type, which I'm not a fan of. Ya know. My pet peeve is bad customer service. I called yesterday to place an Easter order and was told that Easter orders are accepted beginning today. Today, I called at 10:52am to place an order. I asked if I could place an order and received a rude heavy sigh and a "yeah" on the other end of the phone. I asked if there was a problem. The young lady advises, "We're not open yet." I felt like they were the only vendor I used who was honest, straightforward and generally great to work with. My husband called to order three dozen of the yeast rolls for Christmas dinner. He called a few days before the holiday and was told that they weren't going to have the regular ones available, and, instead, he'd have to have the cinnamon sugar ones. No downside there. However, today, when he went to pick up the order, he was told that there was no record of it. Husband was also told that he would have needed to place it weeks ago because they book up early. Then he was told that the oven was broken. Then he was told that maybe it someone who was helping out and didn't know what he was doing. Wait, what? Many, many excuses for something that should not, and would not have happened in the first place if someone one on the phone would have simply said "I'm sorry, but we cannot take anymore orders." instead, my husband gets to make a special trip from Rochester Hills on Christmas Eve for phantom rolls. The owner, ever unaccommodating, said that he couldn't just give my husband rolls and short another customer (which my husband never asked for) as people would regularly come in with the claim to pick up rolls that they never ordered. I didn't realize that there was a black market for yeast rolls. Instead, he offered to take my husband's name for half-off a future cheesecake or order of rolls. Neither offer was accepted and we will not be returning. Ever. Never. Ever. Again. Please get some better internal controls so that this doesn't happen to future customers. read more

I've been all around the continental United States.
