I have had alot of bad auto experiences and after finding Peter, will not take my car anywhere else. He specializes in fixing German cars and services my BMW which has 140,000. Recently, I was concerned about driving it to Tahoe and I took it in for him to look at. He checked the fluids, tire pressure etc. and he did not charge me. Wanted to throw Peter a 5 star review because he's a stand up mechanic. I brought my car in for a quick issue (engine light on) and he quickly told me what was up with my car and the different issues it could be without an appointment or charging me for his time. Granted it was only a few minutes, it was still super nice of him to help me out. He specializes in european cars but, if you give him a call he should be able to work on a domestic vehicle too. It's a small shop so I'd suggest calling before as I'm not sure how many cars he can take on at one time. Either way, he's legit. Give Peter a call before taking your car anywhere else as he has great rates and is an honest dude. read more

Peter is a trustworthy mechanic. You know when you drop the car off that it will be returned to you in perfect running condition. I own specialty cars, and having a mechanic that takes time NOT to ding doors, track oil in the car, etc. makes a big difference. He works on my 911 and he also works on my 3 series BMW. We used Hi-tec in the past but then noticed their rates are higher than the competitors. We decided to go with Peter. He repaired our 911 very quickly and at a good price. I went there twice. The first time Peter replaced a belt tensioner and everything was fine. The second time the latch on my glove box broke and he ordered a new door. He said he would finish the whole thing the same day. I was unable to come back the sane day so I said I would pick it up the next morning. I arrived at 8:30 and he was just starting on the glove box. Minus one star for not calling to tell me the job was not finished at the time promised. He spent 90 minutes struggling with it because he couldn't get the light put back together. While I was waiting I noticed two scratches in the paint on the left front fender which were not there when I dropped the car off. He insisted that he hadn't done it, but admitted the car had been parked in his parking lot which is right off the street, in the space right next to the driveway. Minus one star for having a parking lot which is completely exposed to street traffic. I'll never know if the scratches were done by someone using the driveway for Y-turn or something, but I've never experienced this at any other garage I've been to. Minus one star for failing to take responsibility for something which happened on his lot. He gave up on the glove box light and told me it would be quicker to order a new one for $30. I decided to leave the glove box in the dark. Minus one star for not reinstalling the original light. read more

I came to this shop because my back window regulator on my 2007 BMW 328i went out. Peter was so wonderful. He did the job for half the price I was quoted from a different shop. He was able to get me in the next day and did it in only an hour and a half. He was very respectful and honest. As a young female I feel that most mechanics can be manipulative and disrespectful. Peter has worked on my 2001 BMW 325i for several years - not long ago he was a real lifesaver. 150 miles away from home on a biz trip, the coolant warning light popped on. That's when I also noticed a big puddle of coolant under the car. I call Peter, panicked. Calmly he talked me through what the problem might be and what to look for, and how to 'band aid' it until I could get to his shop. The band aid worked. Turns out the problem was an inexpensive plug that had worn out. Peter had it fixed in less than 30 minutes. And he stopped a rattle that had annoyed me for more than a month. He's fast, he's reasonably priced and best of all he's honest. My car has 100k+ miles and still runs great - thanks to Peter. read more

Peter is the classic, quintessential mechanic. Head two feet deep in a porche when I got there, friendly but sorta gruff, great guy. He brought the tester out to triage my engine knock while I got to watch, replaced a bad coil fir me, and charged me a more than reasonable price. After being disappointed one too many times with the local Porsche dealership, I took my car to Peter who came highly recommended by a friend. Peter replaced the mass airflow sensor of my 2003 Boxster -- his professionalism, workmanship, and customer service exceeded my expectations. A few months later, I was having some trouble with the car's manual/automatic shifting and he resolved the problem within minutes. The best German Auto Shop in the Bay Area! Pete is the only mechanic I will trust to fix or tune up my Audi TT Quarto (who I call Dominicus)from now on! He is professional, well trained, seasoned, creative, and honest. For over a year my TT has been making this horrible squealing noise. I took Dominicus to mechanic after mechanic. The responses fell into two general categories, either they could not hear the noise and would look at me like I was crazy, or if they heard the noise they would tell me with a deviant twinkle in their eyes that it was caused by one of several things and the only way to be sure was to just replace them all which would cost a very pretty penny.Not Pete, he listened to the car and me and within 20 minutes had the problem pinned down. He explained the issue with the appropriate detail, gearing his explanation to my level of understanding but not treating me like I was a stupid women. Then he went above and beyond, he thought creatively about how he could make the repair more cost effective for me. He presented me with a creative alternative, displaying his superior seasoned knowledge and let me make the decision. He got the part, scheduled an appointment that was convenient for me and fixed the issue. He also treated my car with as much respect and love as I do; giving Dominicus a full checkup, he noted potential problems for me and did a couple of preventative maintenance things which made a huge difference in the cars performance. If you are petite woman like me, who happens to enjoy driving you know how ridiculously difficult it is to find a mechanic who is honest & knowledgeable who respects your car and you. I am getting ready to move to North Carolina and one of my greatest sadnesses is that I cannot take Peter with me! He has been servicing my three cars ( BMW, Audi and a Nissan) for three years and I feel incredibly lucky to have found him. Getting a great mechanic is very hard to do and Peter does an incredible job.. He is fast, thorough and fair. The fair part is such a rarity. His pricing is not the cheapest but I have paid more for much less around here. So I say it feels fair to me. He is very honest and conducts his business with integrity. He can work on many marques so that versatility is great. He is also very pleasant and articulate so we always have clear communication. This shop is a great alternative for service requirements and repairs for BMW's, Porsche's, Mercedes Benz, Audi's and VW's which are beyond their manufacturer/dealer warranties. I have an older BMW 540i (1994) which began to have a transmission problem. Peter solved the issue with an excellent rebuild at a cost of approximately half of what the dealer alternative would have been. The car now runs like new and is good for another 100,000 miles. Where do I start? Peter is fantastic. I have a Porsche 944 (1987) and have used a number of mechanics in San Rafael and San Francisco over the past 6 years. No one compares to Peter. He has fixed things that have stumped others. He is honest, super knowledgeable about Porsche engines (he studied at Porsche in Berlin) and goes out of his way for his customer. I needed new front brakes on my 2012 Audi Q5 (I've had the car one year). The Audi dealership where I had it serviced told me I had 3-5,000 miles to go, and gave me an astronomical estimate of what the cost for replacement would be. Contrary to their estimate, two days later, the brake pad light went off. I called many local shops that specialize in German cars and got estimates. Peter was the only one who wanted to see the car before giving an estimate. His estimate was the best I received and he was able to handle the job the very next day. He is easy to talk with, honest, and delivers what he promises. I've had this car a year and have been hoping to find a shop that I can rely on for the basic maintenance issues that come up with my car. Peter is the real deal. We started taking my girlfriends e36 bmw to Peter after a not-so-great experience with another bmw mechanic in the area. We have been nothing but pleased with Peter! He is honest, skilled, trust worthy, and reasonable. Peter actually fixed an on-going electrical problem we were having where one brake light was constantly going out. We had taken the car to two other places prior to Peter to try and get it fixed, but neither of these places could fix it. The first time we took the car to Peter, he fixed the problem, and we haven't had any issues since. He has done every thing from brakes and routine oil changes to (just recently) switching out the alternator and thrust arm bushings. We usually get the car back the same day we drop it off which is a major plus! Another plus is, there is only one lift in his garage/work space, so you know your car is getting all of his attention. I recently purchased a 2002 Porsche Boxster S and foolishly didn't have it inspected before purchasing it. I had my reasons, but they were all dumb. The car looked great, had low mileage, and I was out-of-town, so arranging for an inspection would be difficult. Anyway, I still love the car, but it had a lot of deferred maintenance and Porsche maintenance isn't cheap. I had new clutch, IMS bearing, rear main seal and other work done at a competing shop, and they did a good job, but I left feeling like they padded the bill (and a post purchase inspection for $250 told me virtually nothing I didn't already know; tires are good, horn works, ya I figured that out myself.) So when the check engine light went on, I decided to call Peter. I'm glad I did and think I've found my Porsche repair guy. The engine light turned out to be a non-issue (for which he didn't charge me), but I had other deferred maintenance done. Peter convinced me some of what I thought was needed really wasn't at this point, so he obviously was looking to keep me as a customer rather then making a quick buck today. The shop appear to be a one man operation, but that has an upside: the Stuttgart-trianed technician and business owner is the guy working on your car. Plus you get the benefit of his low overhead with lower prices (not to be confused if cheap, this is a Porsche, after all). So bottom line, at this shop you get competence, reasonable prices, and honesty, which is all I think you can ask for. read more
