Arrived at the restaurant at 6.45pm on a Tuesday the place was 1/2 full. Servers looked rushed off their feet. We waited to be seated only to be told by the manager they could not serve us due to short staffing. I Just want reviewers to know to call ahead and make sure they can accommodate. lt all depends on what you order, your meal can be $$ or $$$$. For most part, dishes I ordered were tasty and almost has a little of a Fusion Flair. The Giant puffy bread, you have to reorder to get enough. It goes with anything with a sauce. Use as a wrap. Not Chengdu Cuisine, but way better than Panda Express. read more

I have dined in as well as picked up food from here several times, and I have never been disappointed. The food is delicious and their portions are huge. Unfortunately for us, we hit on these crave-worthy dishes : Bamboo Flounder Fish, Chang's Hot & Numbing Combo. Now we feel deeply compelled to keep ordering these items each time. a) barely any vegan or vegetarian options- they did not even have the courtesy to mark vegan or gluten free items on the menu. We ordered a tofu based dish under the 'Vegetables' section only to know it had meat in it. Thank god for our sweet waiter who pointed it out b) the dumplings were hard and not tasty- like they had been cooked earlier and simply microwaved and presented to us. we NEVER waste food but my husband and I couldn't bear the thought of taking the left over dumplings home and eat it later c) the two stars only cause the waiters and service was nice read more

Havn't had a meal at Peter Changs since before covid. It used to be pretty decent. They must have gotten a new chef because it was almost inedible when we ordered several dishes from there a few days ago. First of all, it was strange that half the food tasted like curry... The Mongolian Beef was literally an inedible yellowish pile of curry beef and onions. The sesame chicken didn't look like the gourmet dish I had years back but rather the unmistakeable overly doughy and rubbery chicken doused in cheap red sauce they must have scooped from a bucket in the back. Even the fried rice was mediocre. Bland. Dry. Low quality chicken. This might be the first time I've ever ordered Chinese food and simply hated it. You can get this quality food and better for half the price at any hole in the wall. Certainly will not be going back. 2 star instead of 1 because it used to be decent. read more

A solid 4 star from me for today's lunch for its great work of the Peking duck - crispy and golden brown skins and wonderful meat cleanly cut and served, its modern ambient setting, and good service . The duck took abut 5-8 minutes to serve amazingly fast. Other food items such as xiaokingbao, doupi beancurd, and fish and sour soup were great too. What was interesting was a big snow storm just came during this one hour lunch and made the way back home a long and difficult one but the food made it worthwhile. read more

I usually rave about this place to literally everyone. I've had the three pepper chicken twice before and I've loved it - this time, I ordered it as take out through Grub Hub. The quality of this dish was subpar this time around. The rice was extremely dry and seemed to be undercooked. I tried to resolve this issue through Grub Hub and their customer service reps suggested a refund as I live 30 mins away from the restaurant. Disappointingly, Peter Chang denied my refund stating that "the rice was cooked properly". Come on, first rule of business - customer is always right. The rice was definitely not cooked as they usually make it. I wish I could give this place the 5 star review that I wanted to, however, this is the best I could do due to their poor customer service read more

Pretty legit. The menu is excellent and if you're looking for Szechuan this will definitely do. I had the tofu skin app which was seasoned well and my favorite out of the whole meal - could it have used a touch more hot oil sure but that's me. Thinly sliced tofu skin looking like linguine which was cold and refreshing. I then had the Szechuan beef which was seasoned perfectly. Slightly in the salty side with onions and snow pea pods and tons of peppers. I could use a bit more Szechuan peppercorn but I think you see how I like my food. The lunch comes with a side of rice and veg. The get was baby bok choy and woodear mushroom which was cold and frankly a very good side. My meal came out before the sides and app but generally everything came out quickly. The server was terrific. I have to say it was too warm in the restaurant (my ice melted quickly in my water) but other than that. Decent prices for lunch and a great array of Szechuan delights. read more

The most tender fall off the bone ribs I ever had. Delicious, authentic Chinese food. The food came out so fast! And it was a Friday night but all the food came out quickly. Most of the food is spicy, so spiceaholics will love it, but low tolerance people might struggle with the food choices. My Girlfriend couldn't handle the heat so she wasn't as thrilled as I was with the food. I just wish the waiter was as informative and knowledgeable of the menu as the manager was. Since it was my first time, I asked the waiter for suggestions but he seemed unsure of any of my questions. But the service was good and the waiter was polite. We order from here often. The good is consistently good. We haven't had any negative experiences with the service when we dine in. Very glad to see that they've opened up and weren't negatively impacted by the pandemic. It's one of our go-to places since we moved out of New York. Overall a very ordinary restaurant- strange interior design, sub par service, and average food. The lunch specials used to include soup and spring rolls but they changed that so now the lunch special doesn't include anything, so not sure how that counts as a "special" for the ambiance, quality, and taste of the food the prices are quite high. The food is decent albeit slightly overpriced and probably inappropriate given the dynamics of Stamford. The reason this particular franchise is getting a 1 star review is because of the bigoted and discriminatory attitude of the manager on duty at the Stamford location. The manager is an elitist and discriminates against mothers with young children. Admittedly young children are messy eaters and will often leave some cleanup but that is no excuse for the snooty manager to sit our family by the bathroom at 5pm (and foreceably might I add) when the restaurant just opened for dinner and is COMPLETELY empty. The snooty manager dismissed our child and had a very snobbish and elitist attitude indicating that our child created a mess on a prior visit and she doesn't want us seating in the "premium" area causing mess for others to see. This is Stamford where Del Frisco, CPK and Cosi can go belly up. Peter Chang Corporate if you are paying attention and reading this, your manager at the Stamford has some serious sensitivity training issues that needs to be addressed ASAP. To be perfectly fair, the wait staff and other attendants at the restaurant have always been very accommodating and nice and commend them for their service. Bottom line fellow Stamford'ites. If you have young children and are salivating good Asian food, take your hard earned dollars and go to Sushi X or Ochoa or Fuji where young kids are welcomed with open arms. read more

Chinese eater here-- I have spent most of the last few years in Boston and New York, so definitely skeptical walking in re: authenticity. However, I found impressively well-made Sichuan and Hebei dishes (回锅肉、三鼎牛肉、鱼糕汤、狮子头). I am definitely pleasantly surprised at the authenticity of the food, it rivals even the better spots in Flushing. It was great to see some creative dishes as well (eggplant fries, an unconventional scallion pancake) so even experienced Chinese diners will find something exciting... The spicy dishes are genuinely extremely spicy, so beware. Definitely visit if you like good Sichuan or Northern Chinese dishes. Fantastic prices! Also plenty of Chinese-American favorites (they have a separate menu listing these dishes) so the whole crowd will likely be happy :) My family has been multiple times since it's opened, and service has been getting better and better. Throughout it all, staff has been all-smiles and accommodating of our large/messy groups, even when the restaurant was at peak hour! This last time, I spilled many times, and waiters ran by to help clean up. Very friendly and knowledgeable restaurant manager repeatedly came to our tables and those around us to make sure that all was well. We sent back two of our dishes because they were simply inedible (a noodle dish and the wonton appetizers) and struggled to put down the rest. Whether it was drowning in cumin (the lo mein, three pepper chicken...) or completely flavorless (their "signature dish" of prawns was like cardboard), go literally anywhere else. read more

I called the restaurant to report this and was met with denial and disrespect. Not only did the restaurant deny that I found a mosquito in my food, but I was further insulted after being asked "what do I want from this?" as if I was trying to blackmail them. Came here for the Peking duck and was not disappointed. It was super delish. Only thing is, portion size this was recommended for 2 people and I don't think it would be filling enough. Super excited to have such an amazing restaurant in Stamford. We way over-ordered but we were anxious to try different things. We had the Soup Dumplings which could have been hotter but were delicious, Dan Dan Noodles, Peking Duck (don't be shy about asking for it a little hotter - it really brought out the flavor), The Bok Choy (fantastic), and Three Pepper Beef. I can't wait to come back and try some more yummies. Don't come here if you are looking for the run of the mill menu - this is definitely a step above. News flash........Want great Chinese food in the Stamford/Greenwich area. This restaurant is for you !!! The soup dumplings are delicious, and there is no match when you order the Peking Duck. I've ordered Peking Duck in many different restaurants and around the world, and this has to rank at the number one on my list. The skin is crispy, and the meat soft. All other dishes are also very good and authentic Chinese. For your tasting palate, there are also dishes that are plain to spicy hot. Server is friendly and attentive. Worst worst experience ever. I came here with my husband and daughter, when we waited at the front door, I grabbed a take out menu from the front desk to just have a look. When we seated, we didn't have a formal menu didn't have plates and chopsticks on the table, didn't have napkin. The waitress came by asked if we're ready to order, we ordered few dishes and my husband ordered a beer. Until the first dish came, we still didn't have plates and chopsticks, we finally got them when we asked. My husband asked for his beer twice, it finally came after the second dish was finished. We ordered cumin lamb chop and fish cake for our main dish, 4 lamb chops for $24? Both of the dishes are good but again, the price for what we got, seems too high for me. And those dishes come with rice, until we finished all of our food, the rice never came after asking for it twice. I don't think everything is to blame on the server, our server was also busing tables. That's crazy to me, especially when we are still waiting on tons of stuff we ordered. Our servers attitude was pretty bad the later the meal went on. Never apologized at any point when we asked for what was missing. We are not typically hard to please at all. This is a first for us to take the time to vent our displeasure with awful service that was also over priced. Very disappointed, will never be back. read more

Just had a wonderful meal here. Could not believe it when we met Peter's parents and realized they were the wonderful couple who owned our favorite restaurant in Greenwich back in the 90s and early 00's!! What a fabulous family tradition of serving great food and providing seamless service. Their mix of genuine Chinese and American Chinese food is definitely a huge hit - people were flocking in as we were leaving (we had an early meal). Going to be a massive hit.
