I went to Peter and schedule an appointment at 1:30 arrive promptly and he asked me to go back home to get my belt and my shoes so the fitting will be correctly, so I went home got the belt and shoes came back and he said I am busy now please come back later. So I was running a little late coming back because I had to run errands and he said we could schedule for the next day so I come the following day and when I arrive to his house at 11 he said he needed 10 minutes so I come inside the house and I had left my suits there previously for suits so I return with one suit when he's measuring my pants legs for taper he then gets up abruptly he says" I don't wanna do this no more. " Says it's going to be too much time and measuring and he wasn't willing to take the job I wasted gas time and money however I left graciously like a gentleman. Anywhere. The quality of my custom suit is bar non, and I get compliments on it everywhere I go. I have a couple of other suits I bought from The Men's Warehouse, and you can easily tell the difference between those and these. There is no looking like putting on a suit that fits perfectly. Just a warning make sure you call first and set up an appointment rather than just show up at the address because it's actually ran out of his house in a residential neighborhood, i was a little thrown off by this at first but Peters house is extremely nice and his set up is legit and nicer then any tailoring business I've ever been to. I can't believe this wasn't already reviewed. Well, I guess I can because I'm guessing most of his clients are older people who are scared of the internets. This is by far the best tailor I've ever been to. I'm only 29 years old though and haven't been to many tailors. However, this guy did a fantastic job on fitting some of my dad's older suits that were too big for me. After that, i took suits straight from Mens Warehouse (same parking lot) to him which he did a great job on. I don't live in the area anymore so I take my pants to a local place. When I do need a suit tailored, I always make the drive up here because he just does a great job. I think the pricing is fair. It certainly isn't cheap but you absolutely get what you pay for here. He does also make handmade suits and shirts but I haven't tried any of those. That is out of my price range. read more

I was referred to Peter Daniels after purchasing a prom dress from a retail store back in 2004, after that the rest is history! He has done quite a few alterations for myself, as well as my sister. He altered her wedding dress! Yes, I said wedding dress! They did an amazing job, for half the price the bridal store was going to charge. Simply the best! We came to Peter Daniel this in June for my husband's suit for our August wedding. We ended up purchasing additional suits and shirts because they were so nice! Perfect tailoring, and custom initialing on the shirts were a nice touch. Then when it came time to get my wedding dress altered, we decided to come to Peter Daniel. The bridal store wanted to charge me hundreds of dollars and he only charged a fraction of what they wanted!!Plus, he was super quick. Peter Daniel is such a wonderful tailor. He has had years of experience and he did not disappoint me and met my expectations. I had a gown that I needed to alter within a week's time to wear for opening night at the LA Opera when the bridal shop I bought the dress from was going to charge me over $100 and take a few weeks to complete alterations. He did it hit me in a week and charged me way less than the bridal shop! He works out of his beautiful home and has a great wonderful dressing room to change into your outfit and has a huge mirror to work with in helping him measure while you watch. Maybe I caught them on a bad day, judging by these other reviews, but I experienced pretty shabby customer service. I needed some alterations for a suit-jacket and a two-piece suit. He measured the suit-jacket himself (the simpler job) but had his wife do the two-piece. She didn't know what she was doing...every once in a while he would come by and correct her mistakes, but not thoroughly. I didn't feel confident at all leaving the two-piece with all those half-corrected markings, so I just left the suit jacket. She even commented to me "hopefully he'll take a better look at this" and "I'm sorry, he's not usually like this." When it came time to pay, he was so rude and dismissive that his wife even reminded him that I was a customer. The work on the suit-jacket was skillful and satisfying. If he had cared enough to give me common respect and to make sure the measuring for the two-piece was a job well done, then I would have loved to have him do it also. (I found another tailor for the two-piece, who offered half of what Peter Daniel offered, didn't have attitude, and did a great job on the suit.) In short, this tailor is skilled, but needs to care about his customers' needs. read more

I got a pair of raw denim jeans tailored when Peter Daniel Custom Tailors was located in Montclair almost a year ago. I explicitly told the person who was fitting me that I would like a taper from the inseam as to not ruin the selvedge on the jeans and he gave me a slight nod. When I picked up my jeans, the job was done on the outseam which ruined the selvedge line. I noted this and I was simply just told that the tapering done here is only done on the outseam which I should have been told when I mentioned an inseam taper. The lack of communication completely ruined my experience here. read more

The dress I was wearing was too long, and assumed the heels I would wear would take care of the problem.
