Doc…read morecommunicates very well, he is a pleasure to be around, the kids love him, respect him & listen to what he has to say. It's a very special skill to be able to communicate effectively with both children & parents. Both my children go to him. Both have different issues with different treatment plans. My daughters braces are now off and we have moved on to retainers. They now start orthodontics earlier than when I was a child and what a difference I can see. All of my daughter's teeth were moved into the correct position so now her teeth look great, and the rest of the teeth that are coming in all have room to come in properly and straight. As for my son, he has a totally different treatment plan and it's way more complex, but there isn't any other orthodontist I would want working with us. If anything is wrong, the team will get you in same day if needed or next day type of thing, depending on what's going on. One time, just even the staff took a second look at something for me just to make me feel better. We even did a evening assessment in the beginning, which was great because I did not have to miss work. They typed up the treatment plan ran the insurance and then let you know your options from there I believe I got a discount for paying upfront. He also does Invisalign, which was not what my children needed, but I'm sure something that others would want to know about. He does adults as well & i'll likely have him do a few things for me since my teeth have moved over the years lol. The office is clean, everybody is friendly, the scheduling is done well, you are not sitting waiting for long periods of time. They do have the most amazing fish tanks that the kids love. Things never feel overcrowded. Lots of personal attention. We know all of the staff and they knew all of us well. Julie takes care of everything upfront and is great at scheduling things, etc. And one more great thing to know is his wife is also a Dentist and is in the same office on the other side. We absolutely love her and she does such an amazing job with the kids. So much so that we see her extra maybe 4 cleanings a year. Cavities run in our family and working with her and her team. We have managed to keep cavities to a minimum if not none. She goes above and beyond as well, which I have also noted in other places I've even seen her working with special needs kids and she is so accommodating. When they moved offices, she has a nice quiet, private room for those that need it for certain things like having a tooth polled or if they're just super anxious, and need a quieter place, etc.. she is great with the children as well, does lots of education regarding how to keep your teeth, healthy, and the importance. Has a fun treasure chest for the kids for after their appointment. They also get a certificate thing for having no cavities and get put into a monthly drawing. Her staff is super helpful as well. I have to book my appointment with them a little bit further in advance, but I never hesitate to slip in the extra visit. If somebody else canceled, we take advantage of that. My kids love seeing her so much that one time my son had an orthodontist appointment and my daughter was disappointed and requested to have her teeth cleaned. I so I asked them and they fit her in that same day and that little girl had the biggest smile on her face. Best money ever spent. And just goes to show what a great job they do.

He's always finding thoughtful ways to work around his needs and makes each appointment a positive and successful experience. Michelle is wonderful about scheduling and she always sets aside plenty of time for our appointments so my son never feels rushed or overwhelmed. We travel over two hours (sometimes more depending on L.A. traffic!) from North County San Diego just to see Dr. Yu, and it is absolutely worth it. We feel incredibly fortunate to have found a doctor who shows such genuine kindness and compassion. We're excited for our son to have a beautiful smile someday thanks to Dr. Yu!

I appreciate his honesty considering he could have proceeded with treatment knowing it would have caused my teeth to fall out. He is not money hungry like a majority of doctors are. He educated me more than my regular dentist has and instructed me on what I can do to prevent further damage. He is good spirited and truly cares for the well being of his patients.
