When our sweet tooth kicked in, we knew we had to visit Peterbook Chocolatier at the Durban Pavilion, a cozy small business owned by the Aballa family, which we highly support. Upon entering, we were cordially received by a helpful lady who gladly offered us samples of their delectable gelato flavors. After some deliberation, I opted for a small cup of peanut butter chocolate mixed with hazelnut gelato that was both sweet and satisfying, and we thoroughly enjoyed every bite while relaxing in the charming atmosphere outside. There were also so many different categories of treats from popcorn, to hand dipped to assortments milk chocolate, dark chocolate, white, chocolate, and baskets full of goodies. Peterbrooke Chocolatier of Durbin Park is the epicenter of all things chocolate. Plus they have gelatos too. I have stopped by twice and have received excellent service on both occasions. But not too pushy so you can browse through all of the marvelous products. On my last visit I was purchasing some Christmas gifts. And of course I had to buy something for myself LOL. But I was surprised to find sugar free chocolate. I purchased two products because I was curious. I tried the peppermint patties and the chocolate-covered caramel. Both were made with dark chocolate and both were fabulous! I purchased a few chocolate bombs for my friends and they loved them. You can find a variety of items here that you can't find in a grocery or drug store. Plus all of chocolate is made in house. I also sampled a few ice cream flavors and they were yummy. Chocolate, Chocolate everywhere! There is always something magical to me about walking into an artisan chocolate shop. Peterbrooke feeds that inner child with tons of colorful, enticing displays of various chocolate treats! Shelves along the walls are packed full of various surprises, tables bursting with chocolate dipped everything. A case full of individual chocolates just begging you to try them! A rotating gelato case as soon as you enter the door can easily mesmerize you! They were decorated for Valentines and it was a reminder to come around every holiday just to see the transformation of the store! They truly set out to enchant you~ as it should be! I was here thanks to Yelp- I had a perk coming my way in the form of a cocoa bomb, but I intended on making some purchases. I grabbed a 2 pack of chocolate pretzel rods- one of my fav's. I picked three delectable chocolates from the case- a cherry cordial, a Dark Mint Meltaway and a Tahitian Vanilla Truffle (shaped as lips- perfect for Valentines). I asked if they had dark chocolate covered orange peels- one of my absolute favorites, but they didn't. Everything was divine! I ate one treat a day (I have no idea how I stretched it out like that)- and think the variety of flavors was good to just try one a day! I have visited this location a couple pf times, the first time briefly after the open, to get gelato... yum! need I say more? I was back yesterday to pick up a Yelp Pack. I was so impressed with the customer service. The ladies working were so nice, very helpful and funny. They treated me like I was their most important customer. The place was spotless, they were working on some baskets, which looked amazing. The smell of chocolate was fabulous. Oh how I love Peterbrooke chocolate! I first have to thank Yelp for having the hot chocolate bomb event. The staff greeted me and was gracious enough to answer all of my annoying questions. It was like walking into a wonderland of sweet dreams. I sampled gelato that was smooth as silk. I be hard pressed to say I know of another place that has such creamy, mouth melting chocolate. You MUST go to their summer kids classes! Offered Tuesdays and Thursdays at 1pm. It was SO MUCH fun for my kids ages 8 & 5. It was such a treat for them to dip all their own chocolate and learn about chocolate also! They had so many yummy treats to take home in their treat bag and ended the class with their choice of gelato. Excellent summer activity to do with your kids & the owners/workers are the sweetest! 10/10 absolutely recommend to add this to your summer bucket list! read more

Decided to explore the southern end of Duval and ended up at Durbin Park. We stopped by Peterbrooke and got a strawberry cheesecake gelato. It was smooth and delicious. I was surprised by a few bits of chocolate so it was like a chocolate-dipped strawberry cheesecake gelato. Very good! read more

I visited for the Holi-Deals and Steals with Yelp Jacksonville. They had a $18 special that included 2 pretzel rods, 2 graham crackers, 2 Oreos, and 2 chocolate potato chips. I bought this as a gift for a friend's birthday, and she ended up being so happy. The chocolatier had a special table set up where I could immediately pick up the bag, and they ran me up immediately. There wasn't a 10% coupon as mentioned in the deal, but after talking with the owner, they wrote a special message on my receipt so I can use it on my next purchase and honored it. We love Peterbrooke! The go to candy shop in Jax. Our home Peterbrooke is the location in Ponte Vedra but we ventured out to the Durbin Park location for a Yelp event. I'm so glad we did! WOW WOW WOW!!! JUST WOW!!! This was an AMAZING perk. I came for the Yelp Elite perk hot cocoa bomb perk but stayed for EVERYTHING else! The shop is gorgeous- it is new, fresh, and most importantly clean! The staff are all wearing masks and EXTREMELY friendly! With it being so close to Valentine's Day I just HAD to treat myself! While I was in the store I picked up some milk chocolate covered macaroons, dark chocolate covered espresso beans, milk chocolate covered raisins, milk chocolate covered popcorn AND a mix of milk chocolate and dark chocolate covered strawberries. Getting myself some chocolate covered strawberries was priority number one and I was SO pleased to find that they were making them ON SITE FRESH IN STORE!!! Now when I stay chocolate covered strawberries- I don't mind the kind that you find in store and are then disappointed in when they turn out to be small, sour, and mushy. These are the BEST chocolate covered strawberries I have EVER had. They strawberries they had in store are literally the size of my fist. They are perfectly sweet & VERY juicy. You have your choice of milk, white, or dark chocolate. For Valentine's day they even had a pink white chocolate! The wait for these is about 15 min while the chocolate sets & worth EVERY second!
