I was turned onto this place by a friend who is a chef at one of the local country clubs. Their fish is so fresh, as an amateur sushi chef I will always try to get salmon from Peters even before going to Hmart, Mitsuwa, or the other Japanese markets. The organic salmon is top-notch for sushi grade quality fish. The only complaint is that they don't have more varieties for sushi, i.e. yellowtail, salmon, eggs, etc..

Salmon and tuna rolls with avocado and cucumber and a little spicy mayo. Yummy!

The service is terrific. Patiently helped us pick our fish and amount we needed for sushi night. Love going to Pete's!

My first trip here was a recon. Came to browse and ask questions. As I was leaving, a jovial and fit gentleman with great teeth and winning smile came out after me -- curious about my questioning his staff. He then offered me a personal tour of his entire operation with a narrated history. Peters has been a local fishmonger and purveyor for more than 30 years. The restaurants in the region all know him because he supplies most of them. He built this facility in the past year from the ground up to house a serious wholesale operation with a loading dock, huge freezer facility, processing and break down area and of course, an upscale retail store. Peter even showed off his employee lounge, shower and bathrooms -- all impeccably clean. The seafood in the retail store is immaculately displayed and smells as fresh as the ocean. He stocks various sizes and grades of lobster, clams, oysters, crab meat and dozens of varieties of fish -- from salmon to fresh sardines, to everything in between. All the accouterments to a great seafood dinner are on hand as well -- from lemons to sauces. I returned for some fish and scallops recently with Sweetie in tow. The Lemon sole was like butter -- which I simply seasoned and broiled over lemon slices. The scallops were huge and dry -- not like the ones you often find commercially -- floating in a milky exudate, and the inedible tough muscle that just about every other seller leaves on the scallops to make weight -- was cleaned from these puppies. I minimally seasoned and oiled these and grilled them quickly. Our first meal with Peter's seafood was simple but spectacular. The fish and scallops were so sweet and tender. Can't remember eating fresher seafood at home at any price. Peter's is pricier than some supermarket chains I frequent (H-mart comes to mind) but no one can touch his quality. Having witnessed how much attention Peter invests in the smallest details of this operation shows up in the flavor of his seafood. The best quality seafood around at any price -- hands down. Top Tip: Peter's is cash/check only. They have a cash machine for convenience.

By far- the freshest fish place. I'm glad that we took a chance last summer and walked into the store. Fresh produce and the fellas are very polite and helpful. They do work fast however will take their time when needed to assure satisfaction. This is the place to go for soft shell crab, calamari, shrimp, scallop and lobster.

    Peter's yummy lobster salad!

The prices are high, but about fit for the area. I tend to shop here only for specific items or to patronize their wine selection or liquor selection. The cashiers are generally on top of things and the store is very clean and organized. However, last night, I felt that the welcoming atmosphere was not there. My partner and I walked in at about 8:50 (being very aware of their closing time of 9 pm), and came to get one item quickly as they were the only store that carries it nearby. Almost immediately after walking in, a larger man in grey sweatpants walked over to the liquor counter and goes on the intercom, saying something to the effect of "the store is closing, get your stuff and go to the register because we want to go home". I can understand this feeling as I've worked customer service and retail and always disliked when people came in near closing. However, we were right behind the man using the intercom and were out the door in less than 2 minutes. I would have appreciated him coming to us and greeting us with the store closing information, rather than a gruff intercom grumble. We understood the need to move quickly without this. Maybe you need someone else to take the closing shift? Regardless, we were aware that we were there close to the wire, and we got our stuff and got out after a stare from the grumpy old man.

I contemplated buying something but there is no longer any chance of buying something for $1 and I was going to have to spend $3 to save two. Even with my bad math skills I knew that was crazy! The manager Randy saved the day. He asked what my problem was and I told him. He said let me buy a coffee to bring it up to $20. How nice is that?

Produce is consistently out of stock or rotten. Dairy products are consistently out of date. The store is dingy. The fresh meat range is lacking. The parking is awful. They avoid eye contact while simultaneously having conversations with other workers in the middle of the busy, narrow isles. The store is neat, but narrow and dated. They have an ok selection of products and their prices are decent. I would have given more stars, but this location lost them at check out. The cashier didn't greet us - she just started slamming our purchases against the scanner plate and tossing the items to the other end of the register. Soda, plastic cups, paper plates - all flung carelessly down for me to try to catch and put into my cart. Thank God I didn't buy eggs! We only came here because we were in the neighborhood and had to grab a few things. In the future, we'll just go out of our way to shop at a better store.
