I've been buying fish at this market for 35 years family owned and operated everything is by hand and fresh. That's the way you want it.

Went in for first time last week. Told woman my first time here, What do you have? No fresh fish laid out and a freezer with some trays that were hard to read with no pricing. She said, " been here for 35 years, don't lay out any fresh fish, everything made to order, What do you want?" I"m not sure because it's hard to tell what you have. "Well I am busy so let me know" and walked away. Must have some very loyal customers and doesn't need new ones. read more

Our stuffed lobster tails were amazing‼ I also bought some clams oreganata and scallops wrapped in bacon. Our Valentine's dinner was amazing. Thank Jeanie who even had the tails delivered cause they were not ready went I went first thing in the morning‼ read more

Complaints about the price of the fish sold here should be immediately disregarded. If you want high quality product, you have to pay high quality dollar. And let me tell you, the quality of the fish here knocks it out of the park. I came in initially for salmon, but their shrimp... their shrimp deserves an award. It is so fresh that I could eat an entire shrimp cocktail platter by myself, but wait until you try their....STUFFED SHRIMP. What is this shrimp stuffed with you ask? CRAB STUFFING. *drops the mic* One more note - if you're hosting a party & want to impress your guests or just be the thoughtful friend who doesn't arrive empty-handed, I would highly recommend their platters. read more

I don't consider myself to be a good cook, but every time I use Paul's House of Fish's seafood, it always comes out restaurant quality. The fish is so fresh and reasonably priced. I used to just buy fish while grocery shopping, but now I will go out of my way to come to Paul's just for fish because I have not been able to find anything that meets this level of quality. Besides the fish, I would also highly recommend the crab cakes, tuna salad, and the butternut squash ravioli (random from a fish store, but it's some of the best pasta I've ever made). I really don't think you can go wrong with any purchase - I have loved everything that I've tried. The staff is also super friendly and they have taken the necessary precautions for COVID-19 (there is a large plastic divider between you and the cash register). Last week, I visited Paul's HOF for the first time. Not only was the fish and seafood amazing, but the service was both friendly and helpful. I purchased delicious sea bass with miso glaze, terrific shrimp and excellent lump crabmeat. I made Maryland style crab cakes and shrimp scampi. The sea bass was the best fish I've ever had. I'm generally reluctant to prepare fish and seafood at home but the quarantine forced me to get out of my comfort zone. Paid a premium for generic tuna and got awfully sick ALL NIGHT LONG! They can say whatever they want about where this stuff comes from, but we will never know. Save your money and go to Anchor Seafood or The Fish Dock. read more

Family-owned, you can order cleaned / cooked food in advance, and they sell boiled, chilled shrimp so fresh that you can't help but snack on them in the car on the way home. Closed on Sundays and Mondays because the fishermen don't go out Sat/Sun. This isn't farmed fish from Thailand. These guys have deep-rooted partnerships in the fishing community and it shows. Walked in here cause it was local. The fresh fish selection was small but they do have some prepaired meals (done in house) in their freezer. I'm torn. On one hand I spent $25 for a pound of Salmon (that seems like robbery). On the other hand the Salmon was fantastic (might have been the best Salmon I've ever had). I don't think this was psychosomatic either.... I'll probably be back but I may check out Kings or Whole Foods (which are expensive also) first. read more

This was my first trip to buy fish here. The fish is very expensive, but it is as good as it gets. I bought a pound of scallops (so big there were 8 to a pound) and they were the highest quality I have had at home. Based on the prices this will be a special occasion only store so I am still in search of somewhere near Closter with moderate prices and quality fish. read more

Took a ride here hoping to find a new fish place with competitive prices to our fave Anchor, and Peters. Are you kidding me. There was nothing laid out on the ice but flounder and the lady proceeded to say what can i get you? What, we didn't even see any fish or prices. She then brought out a nice piece of tuna and announced that the minimum price of fish is 25/pound for something like flounder and all the rest are 30/pound. I couldn't believe it. I get the best fish and I doubt hers is any better for 10/a pound less. Come on. We walked out. She certainly didn't seem to care. We already pay too much for fish, but we buy it because the quality is always excellent. read more

Great fish is an understatement. Not many businesses last as long as this one has in Cresskill. That's because they provide the best quality fish out there. The fish is brought in daily from the the old Fulton Fish market that moved to the Bronx. This is a second generation business that has always proudly served the local community. Yes, the prices are a little higher than the supermarket prices because, the supermarket fish is not fresh. Nor is the quality as good. You get what you pay for in life.
