Such a cute place, not a huge selection but the prices are great and all of the plants are in great shape. And the people working there seems to really know their stuff. It didn't seem like they had their own parking lot, so prepare to find street parking. It wasn't crazy busy on a Sunday when I went so I think there won't be a problem. read more

I stopped by to browse the indoor plants section . I'm new to indoor plants so I needed a little more plant education. The young woman working there was very knowledgeable about each plant and the best environments they could live in. I decided to get this lemon prayer plant. It kept calling my name :). It is intimidating in size but is gorgeous and a statement plant for my living space. Their prices are comparable to other plant nurseries. I find the quality of the plants better at plant nurseries rather than to he plants at Lowe's and Home Depot. Highly recommend stopping here to see their collection of beautiful plants! read more

LOVE. What a wonderful find! Stumbled upon this nursery while driving by one day and randomly decided to stop and check it out. I love everyone who works here and am so appreciative for their patience and willingness to help make good purchases for our home and yard. The greenery is reasonably priced and the staff has a wealth of knowledge that makes it easy to pick between plants based on your living situation. We came in looking for plants to help purify our home and found a ton of beautiful options. We have a few darker spaces and wanted to find plants to brighten up the home and Sonia's suggestions were perfect. She also helped get us set up with some fruit trees (a pomegranate, an avocado and a lime tree). She is always detailed with how to take good care of our new friends and she has always been spot on... and believe me, we are not usually great with plants, but her advice has made it easy. ALL of our plants and trees have been thriving beautifully and it's reassuring to know that if ever, one of our babies isn't doing too well, that we can bring in a photo and get advice from Sonia. Our home is so much more beautiful with all of our plants and our yard is just perfect with our fruit trees. read more

The staff here are incredibly kind and friendly, and will help you with recommendations of what will work best for your garden. They have a lot of beautiful plants in a spacious area. We bought a plumbago bush, which have been tough to find this season in the area. We also bought some fertilizer that they recommended for all of our flowers. We will definitely go again! Just one thing to keep in mind is that there is no parking lot, so you need to park on the street, but there was plenty of street parking available right across the street on the weekend. read more

I have lived in South Bay for 13+ years & have no idea why I haven't stopped in sooner. I really needed 2 plants to sit on each side of my front door. I haven't bought plants in awhile and have been meaning to swing by this place. It deemed the perfect opportunity. It is a bit strange to get into the Peter's if you are headed west on 190th/Hernando cuz you either have to grab the left turn on Maria or Paulina before the median at the 190th/PCH intersection or you can just deal with the PCH intersection. Ha. If you are headed east on 190th, even better. Peter's sits on the corner of 190th & PCH across from the infamous Redondo Beach Pier sign, opposite corner of Land Rover. Plenty of street parking available on Lucia. The land is quite large. The selection in healthy plants is astonishing. I couldn't get over how many choices I had, felt a bit overwhelmed at first. But, I was happily greeted & told when I was ready for a box, just ask. Honestly, customer service was fan-flippin-tastic!! I saw plants I don't see at the big corporate places like Home Depot or Lowe's. The selection seemed eclectic and the staff really knows their stuff. Teresa was so helpful & experienced. I loved talking to her. You will not be disappointed in the customer service, the healthiness of the plants & being able to support a local business that has been a part of the community for 70+ years. I swear, I won't buy plants anywhere else. My jades are thriving in their new home. I will definitely be back for my gardening needs. Keep up the awesome work!! read more

Easily one of the best looking place for browsing for plants. Very well maintained location and plants look in good health. My only issue is the dull and lack of selection. That and almost no California natives at all. They have basic garden supplies in the little mini garages including some trellises and chemical stuff. read more

Let me start off by saying that I rarely take the time to leave a review, but Peters deserves it. This neighborhood gem of a nursery really goes above and beyond in the customer service department. Not only do they have a wide variety of plants on site, helpful staff, and competitive prices, but they are truly in it for the love of plants. I was looking to buy an Australian Willow tree and they helped me research prices and found it cheaper elsewhere. Instead of trying to oversell me, they gladly gave me the name and number of the place they had found it for less and passed it along to me. Special shoutout to Sonia and the owner, Teresa. Great first experience today! They had the larger Day Lilly I've been looking all over for ! I was so happy plus it was healthy! So many at other places were not! The real icing on the cake is that they actually had the fan flowers (scaevola) that I've been searching for when I saw them at South Coast Botanical Gardens. I nearly fainted! They had many unusual flowers that I normally do not see. Very happy to see that. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff too!!! We will be back for sure! read more

It really is more of a garden center than a nursery. A quaint well stocked garden center on 190th st and PCH. You can see the ocean from there. Perfect little place where I can buy plants I've not seen in other nurseries from a staff that is both friendly and knowledgeable. Last time I went they even gave me some freshly cut catnip for my Cappy. read more

Now that I have been here I will never purchase plants at Home Depot or OSH ever again. I needed a lemon tree and the big stores were out, I looked up garden centers and found Peter's, thank goodness I did! Very helpful staff that explained which plant to choose and why, even though every plant looked healthy and amazing! I kid you not its like someone turned up the brightness and health factor in every possible variety. The ladies at Peter's have been very kind and helpful towards me. The younger staff member was mistaken and told me to get 3-4 plants for each of my planters. She told me the plants that I wanted has a 8-12" spread, when they in fact have a 2-4' spread. Huge difference! When I came home and did some research, the max amount I needed was 2 per planter. Based on CJ's review, I was concerned they would not exchange them for me. That wasn't the case... I now have a beautiful, lemon tree in leu of the unwanted plants. Because they allowed me to do the exchange, and I was planning on picking up a lemon tree anyways, I am giving them 5 stars. I also really like their beautiful selection and the helpfulness of both the owner and the grey haired lady. I would steer clear of the younger lady and get help from the more experienced women. I want to deduct a star or two for the misinformation... But they fixed the issue, and it was an honest mistake. The owner also encouraged me to try and salvage my brown lawn before she sells me anything for it. She told me how to go about doing this. This left a good taste in my mouth. Don't hesitate to purchase plants from here. They are lovely. Just make sure you ask the right people for help or do thorough research on what you need before going in. read more

1st, 5 Stars for the woman who greeted me. So kind, so lovely. The nursery itself, well, lacked in many ways. The 1st star I removed was for the lack of garden supplies or decor: Shockingly, there're NO trellises..No garden art..No statues..No fountains..No bird feeders, houses, or baths..No fountains..No lawn furniture (No chairs, gazebos, pavers, etc..) Now, they did have a few terra cotta pots for sale, all were new, 1 shape, in different cascading sizes/shades, but, zero creativity, as if ordered by a computer generated program or..well, you get it. Meh. It has your top categories, the succulents, fruit, shrub depts, robotically stocked w/1-3 of the normal varieties you'd expect. Meh. My 3 stars are for: It was clean/organized. A place that seemed competent in, if you knew specifically what you were looking for, locating it for you thru their outside suppliers, in bulk probably.. *BUT* If, you just wanted to stumble upon something unusual, learn something new, find something rare, get excited about what's exciting about nurseries, or even buy a water hose...DON'T go here. I would give this place zero stars if I could. Laura was very friendly when I went by the nursery to discuss flowers for a baby shower - I needed ~22 small potted flowers I would use for decoration & favors. She gave me helpful suggestions to find more decorative pots at other stores. I was very pleased with the service initially. The next day I went back and bought 22 pots from her sister Teresa. I was concerned with 5 days left to the shower date on how to take care of them so they would not wilt/die in the interim. I was told to put them in full sun and they won't need watering for a week. I was told - unless there was a heat wave, these plants do very well - that if I really wanted to, I could check them in a couple days to see how they are doing and give them a water if they are wilted. This is early March - no chance of a heat wave! Two days later, I noticed they were somewhat wilted and I watered them. The next day, most came back to life. A handful did not and I watered them again the following day. No resurrection. I called the store and spoke with Laura who did a complete 180 and raised her voice immediately after hearing the plants were not doing well. Before I could explain further or even request an exchange/refund, her walls came up, her voice raised and yelled - What do you want? It is not my responsibility and the store does NO refunds/exchanges once its in the customers hands - that she told me this policy before - which she did not! I was shocked at her behavior. I purchased from Peter's because I've always been a huge supporter of local business and mom & pop shops which are having a harder time in this economy. I am very disappointed with the quality of service and downright rudeness when it comes to standing by their product/advice. From the impatience of her attitude it is clear she has dealt with this situation multiple times! I would stay away from this nursery, they are not good people to do business with. Please go to Home Depot or Lowes' or take your chances with another mom and pop and don't look back! read more
