The scheduling process was easy - my Korean isn't great so I texted with Chloe in English to set up our appointment and select the package we wanted. I applaud their attention to detail, down to helping me decide what time the appointment should be based on my baby's nap time! On the day of the shoot, we arrived to see an absolutely huge closet of potential outfits for our baby and a large selection of hanbok for myself and my husband. It was a bit overwhelming but the two ladies picked out lovely options for us and we are so glad we took their suggestions because... These photos turned out to be amazing. They had my baby cracking up through the entire 90 minute shoot, which included 4 different outfits - an almost impossible feat for an impatient one year old! We stopped by on a weekday in the late afternoon and practically had the place to ourselves. Another family arrived shortly after, but it was still very relaxed and easygoing. The process was super simple. You can make a reservation, but we just walked in without any issues. We did the white background setup for 15 minutes, which was perfect and definitely a must if you're taking photos with little kids. There were a few technical difficulties during our session, but the staff member was incredibly accommodating. He paused the timer and gave us those minutes back so we didn't lose any of our shoot time. The pricing is great too! The package includes 2 people and 3 printed 4x6 photos of your favorite shots. Additional people are only $5 each, but they didn't charge us for our toddler or newborn, which was such a nice surprise. One of the best parts is that you get access to download every single digital photo from your session, not just a select few. Recently my US passport needed to be renewed so this photo studio was one of the few places that…read morestill open on Sundays after 4 PM. The photo studio is located inside AR Galleria (the main galleria entrance was locked on Sunday afternoon so I had to enter through the side door via Cafe Lowell). [Parking]: Easy and free parking in the large plaza. [Reservation]: I was able to call and book a same-day reservation on Sunday. Visitors can also make an online reservation via the studio's website. Upon arrival, I scanned a QR code and signed a waiver before the owner started my 5-minute photo session. [Price]: $27 for 4 physical copies and digital copies to download via email (must be downloaded within 7 days). I did not initially receive an email, but I emailed the owner the next day about the download link and he sent a follow-up email with the link within a few hours (the email was hidden in my spam folder). The email included all the pictures taken during the session. The shop also makes photo keychains ($4+ each). The studio also offers 15-minute and 30-minute self-portrait sessions. [Studio]: While I was here for a passport photo, the studio mainly operates as a self-portrait studio where customers take photos of themselves. This small studio has all the props and camera setup needed to make it happen. [Process]: The owner had me sit on a chair and took 7 pictures. Out of the 7 pictures taken, I was able to choose one for him to print while the rest of pictures can be downloaded via a link in an email. It was more important to receive a digital copy because the US passport renewal process requires applicants to upload a digital photo rather than submit a physical copy. I was able to use one of the digital copies and now that same picture will be on my passport for the next 10 years before the next renewal timeline. [Conclusion]: Overall it was an efficient process and I was able to walk in and out within 15 minutes. However, it would be helpful for the studio to provide additional entry instructions on the website when the main galleria entrance is locked.

Some backstory...Imagix/Michelle has done our yearly photos for our son from ages 1 to now 5. (See my past reviews). From somehow capturing a perfect moment from our perpetually moving blur of a son (ages 1-3) to patiently instructing four 70/80 year olds on how to hold their aforementioned 4 year old Tasmanian Devil grandson last year, Michelle is a magician/artist...I always leave the photoshoot stressed from the chaos Hurricane Daniel (our son) leaves in his wake....But every year we come back to look at the proofs and are amazed at Michelle ability to capture "lighting in a bottle" . This year was no different. Fortunately we survived the terrible 2's (...3's....4's....) and thanks to time, maturity, and the opposite of gentle parenting, our little Daniel, though far from perfect, is manageable. But we didn't want to make it too easy for Michelle, so we threw in another variable. After a recent canine cancer scare, and recently learning from Google that all dogs, however loyal and cute, unfortunately have an inescapable life, span, I somehow convinced my beautiful but camera shy wife that this is the year we do a family photo with our dog. Some more backstory, if you read this far, our Yorkie, Libby, loves us but HATES the rest of the world. She spent the entire hour photoshoot in perpetual scowl and Volume 11 non stop bark. One week later as she always does, lighting in a bottle perfection. I looked at the proofs with amazement. Our son, we expected....she's done it every year, but how she made a loud perpetual yapping bark into a impossibly cute smile is above my skill set. But I think her greatest feat is how she lessened the "he must be rich" looks gap between my wife and I. My wife is easy, even me with my amateur Android skills, it's hard for her to take a bad picture. Michelle mastery came with how she elevated me to "he must be funny" looks gap level. So why the tear? We loved one of the pics so much we purchased a large framed canvas print to hang on our living room wall. My 85 year old happened to be in town for his grandsons 5th bday so I asked him for an helping hand hanging the picture. I figured he has these family portrait hanging at my childhood home. My brother and I with our full head of hair and my mom shoulder pads captured the 90's to a tee...but what I always remember is the "proud" look my dad had on his face. A look of accomplishment shouting "look at me world and all that I love and created". Watching my aging dad struggle, listing to my aging dog bark in a locked room to protect my dad's ankles, I was suddenly reminded that time, as much as you want to hit pause, always moves forward. It's a good idea to stop and smell the roses, or in this case, look at the snapshot/memories/moments and take it all in. After my dad handed me the leveler and I put away the hammer, and I looked up....and yeah....I had that "Dad" look

Furthermore, all of the photos, invitations, flower crown, bride/groom bouquet were of the highest quality. Not only were Marisa and Tim professional, but they were also very personal with us and took time to make sure they understood who Camila and I are and what we wanted for our wedding day. I usually feel super awkward in front of the camera, but I was completely blown away by how incredible the photos turned out. Karen was very easy and reassuring to work with. She made the whole process feel so natural and effortless, and me confident in how I looked. Her direction made posing way less intimidating. She paid attention to every little detail, lighting, hair, makeup, even the room temperature, to make sure I was comfortable the entire time. She also had a great selection of props that really added to the shoot and allowed for a greater photo selection. I also brought a friend with me, which I saw several other boudoir photographers in OC do not allow. She assisted with hair adjustments, posing, and hyped me up the whole time, which made the experience that much better. During the photo viewing (a few days after the shoot), she went through each photo for a yes, maybe, or no, and took notes on how I would or would not like photos to be retouched. She was a very patient and detailed listener to my laundry-list of preferences. As a tip, don't forget to book well in advance of birthdays/holidays if you're doing this as a gift for your S/O. Upon contacting her, it was about a week/a few days for her soonest availability and then a few more days for editing, selecting, and a few more days to receive prints. I was in a huge rush and Karen was kind enough to rush every part of this process so I could have the photos in time for a vacation with my S/O. Overall, I could not speak more highly of Karen, her expertise, quality, and flexibility. I can't thank Karen enough for making this such a great experience, and leaving me with lots of beautiful photos + a huge confidence boost. If you're on the fence about booking, just do it. You won't regret it!
