Todd is a rare find. He has experience, takes pride in his work and is a good communicator. His price seems fair for the level Of craftsmanship. I had a beautiful Douglas Fir door that was stained and finished poorly when installed 12 years ago. Over time the finish deteriorated. I hired a painter to sand and restrain the door. He did a terrible job, used a different stain than I picked and his sanding was pathetic. I came home from being out of town to find a door that looked 10 shades darker, all wood grain buried under stain so solid it looked like paint. It was another disaster. I researched and found Todd. He assured me he could remedy the situation and my grain could show again. He did a phenomenal job with the refinishing. After 6 months or so, a 3 inch whitish area appeared in one spot and I called Todd. He assured me once the weather warmed up he would be out to address it. I have every faith in him. We had to move a heavy glass-topped dining table and discovered when we removed the glass that the "bumpers" that go between the wood and the glass top had disintegrated, damaged the finish, and moved over time. We needed to both remove the old bumpers (they were stuck on and embedded in the wood) and disguise the damage that had been done before applying new protective bumpers and putting the top back on. We didn't feel comfortable trying this ourselves, fearing we would cause even more damage. But who to call for such a job? Peterson Mobile Woodworking to the rescue! He was able to get the old ones off and match the finish in a very short period of time. Now you can't even tell there was a problem. In the Fall of 2022 I hired Todd to refinish our front door and he did an exceptional job. We have a Brick English Tudor home in the gated community of Los Lagos in Granite Bay, Calif. The front door is thick Oak with an Oak treshold and an Oak archway. I have had the door, threshold and archway refinished 4 times over the past 12 years and, until Todd, none of the refinishers did a good enough job for it to last more than 2 years. Moreover, the threshold and archway were usually treated as an after-thought and their work was never worth their price. Todd was different and I new he was the right man for the job when he looked at the door and said "this is going to require 5 to 7 coats of varnish." The prior refinishers would put only about 2 coats and call if quits. Conversly, Todd committed to as many trips as necessary to do the job right. And the treshold and archway have not looked as good since the door was first installed. Todd completed the job in 3 weeks and that included loosing a week to extremely hot weather. I also had Tod refinish a 30 year old coffee table, accent table and 4 cherry night stands (all Ethan Allen). Everything came out beautifully. Obviously, Todd is the go-to-guy when it comes to Wood Refinishing. He is thorough and gets it right, and at fair prices. read more

Todd refinished cherry bathroom cabinets in two bathrooms in a house we bought. The previous owner had spiffed them up with a heavy coat of wax. As we used the cabinets the wax came off, and we discovered years of water damage. Todd applied even color and a more waterproof finish, sealed the edges of the cabinets next to the walls and floors, and overall did a better job than the original. We didn't even think to ask him to seal the edges, but he saw it was needed. He took the cabinet doors and drawer facings to his own workshop, to reduce the inevitable chemical smell from the rest of the wood while he worked. Todd also offered free advice on some other issues around the house, such as deflectors for our heating vents. He even helped us remove an ancient WiFi device we had not been able to get off our old computer because we didn't have the right miniature tool. When we saw how good he was, we had him spot fix two nightstands we had bought where labels written in magic marker had been lacquered over. Todd makes real appointments--no four-hour windows--and keeps them. And he's a really nice guy. We feel lucky to have found him, especially since many contractors don't seem to like fixing built-in cabinets. read more

I was horrified when I moved a plant I had set on top of our brand new dresser. We finally upgraded our bedroom furniture to this beautiful set. When I saw that the vinyl round I had set underneath my plant had stuck to the dresser I panicked. I tried cleaning it off myself and it was a bit better but far from good. I started exploring Yelp when I came across Peterson Mobile Woodworking, I contacted Todd and he came out the next day to take a look act my piece. I showed him the culprit piece of vinyl and he immediately knew what needed to be done. I was nervous about transporting the piece to his shop but his reason for doing so was the spraying of the lacquer. He carefully took it to is shop and called me a couple of days later to bring the piece back. His workmanship was amazing, can`t even see where the damage was. He was professional, reasonably priced and courteous. He even helped us put the drawers back in as he said they can be tricky and we could potentially damage the tracks. We recently moved to Orangevale and during the move the finish on a leg of our dining room table received a nice deep gouge [done free of charge by the movers!].
