What a wonderful experience. We had an idea of what we were looking for. We contacted Marty and he came by with his "drawing stuff" and started a process of asking us questions, measuring our area and designing our new custom entertainment center, bookshelf and mantle. It was a challenging area to deal with, but that was all ok. All-in-all, took about 90 minutes of detailed design work to get exactly what we were looking for on paper. Marty gave us exactly what we were looking for in terms of look, feel, usability and most important quality. Using real maple and walnut, very tight tolerances, miter's joints and the best hardware resulted in as high-end a piece than I would have ever expected. He even took our TV, speakers, and other stuff and made it all with just 3/8" spacing all around to make to make it all look ultra clean All that took 3-4 weeks and came in at a very fair price. You have something you want done, give Marty a call, you wont be disappointed.

Amazing work, communication, quality, and personality. Marty is a one of a kind guy, who stands by his workmanship and skill. He designed a full wall cabinet/desk exactly the way we asked with the finest quality of material. He went above and beyond with communicating his progress and the details of the job. We couldn't believe how beautiful it turned out and how he made it fit so perfectly. Marty's decades of experience and pride in his work shows clearly. I highly recommend Marty for any project big or small.

We absolutely love the beautiful fireplace/entertainment piece that Marty designed and made. We interviewed several other contractors and Marty was the only one that understood my vision and came up with a blueprint with his bid. His craftsmanship is superior to anything we've seen. He makes his own moldings, which are beautiful. And he was able to meet my deadline. We highly recommend Quality Craftsman.

Short Summary: Marty's expertise, attention to detail, work-ethic, communication, and quality craftsmanship is unmatched. Without hesitation, I would recommend Marty (Quality Craftsman) to anyone looking for the best quality woodworking projects. Detailed Review: If you have time to read, I'll tell you exactly why Marty is so exceptional. I typically evaluate my reviews based on a combination of 1) Quality of product/services; 2) Communication/Customer service; 3) and Cost. To begin with, I consider the job I was looking to have completed to be fairly complex. I was looking for custom French Doors and two sidelights to be installed on a curved wall with an opening of approximately 9 feet (this was to be used as my home office. This meant that the framing, doors, sidelights all had to follow the curve of the wall, which is no easy task (especially when upon measuring, it was discovered that the top of the ceiling wasn't 100% level). I had sought out quotes for almost a year with the majority of contractors/woodworkers/cabinetry specialists/door specialists all immediately declining to even attempt to try the job due to its complexity. Only three people stated they were able to do the job, but all three eventually gave up or fell through before ever truly starting. Fast forward to February 2022, I find Marty with Quality Craftsman and he confidently tells me he can do the job. 1) Quality of Products/Services Simply put, I am blown away with the quality of work and attention to detail. It is everything I had hoped it would be down to the look, the details, the feel, the materials, the weight, and more. I cannot go into all the details on the large number of meticulous considerations that were involved to make this project work (especially his meticulous measurements and planning). He only uses the best wood and other materials. His eye for design and detail is exceptional. I only gave him a rough mockup of what I wanted the doors to look like, and he improved upon them and made it look better than I expected. The various trim pieces, reveals, varying layers and depth, all came together to create a beautiful doorway for my home office. The install process took a little over a day, due to some minor unexpected complications. He confidently took on each part of the install, and also paid a lot of attention to keeping the work area clean. On the second day, he showed the same enthusiasm and detail to finish the install well. All to say, Marty went above and beyond my expectations and I am beyond satisfied with the finished product. 2) Communication/Customer Service Sometimes you give leeway on communication/customer service to skilled craftsman when their work is so exceptional. With Marty, there was no need. From the first time I talked on the phone with Marty, I knew he was attentive, an expert in his trade, and I could tell that he had an incredible sense of humor. He kept me up to date each step of the way, and surprisingly, kept me more updated than I even expected to be. Even more surprising, he completed the job ahead of schedule. I even had the pleasure of visiting his workshop to see where the magic happens. Marty treated me like family, like I was his grandson, and it made this entire experience even more enjoyable. 3) Cost Now, I am very cost conscious on a lot of products and services I look for. However, I am also well-aware that there must be a reasonable balance. The saying that you get what you pay for is often true, so cutting corners and looking for the "cheapest" or most "budget" option may not be the best idea, especially when considering what type of project you are looking to get done. With something like this particular project, I knew it required someone who was a top-notch expert in their craft, and that's who Marty is. Marty has an exceptional portfolio with over 60 years of experience, with him handling some of the most complex projects in the past (SF City Hall, Banks, Restaurants, Commercial offices, etc.). When I saw some of his past work, I had no doubt that he had the experience and expertise to readily handle my project. With all this said, his price was fair and reasonable, and I have no complaints. More accurately, I can say that since he exceeded my expectations in everything, I technically got more than I paid for. Conclusion: Based on all these factors, I would confidently recommend Marty to anyone looking to complete quality woodworking projects.

Built in Cabinet with glass shelves and lights.

We contacted Marty once again to build a custom cabinet for our home. He is wonderful to work with. We had an idea of what we wanted and he made the idea into a beautiful cabinet that was more than what we had anticipated. Marty is a really creative cabinet maker and his work is much better than anything you can buy. His craftsmanship is worth every penny. Once he is done installing the cabinets you cannot tell that it was not part of the original house. Marty built a bookshelf unit for us and it still looks like it was just installed. If you are need of kitchen cabinets, bathroom vanities, bookshelves, just about anything give Marty at Quality Craftsman a call. It's not just a name you truly get, "Quality Craftsmanship!!!"

This is the new sink Marty put in... you can see the edges of the pull-out cutting boards (using them as extra counter space)

Marty is the best. After contacting about 6 other cabinet makers and being given 6 different versions of "no", I finally found Quality Craftsment (thank you Yelp, and thank you fellow Yelpers). I needed to replace a kitchen cabinet that holds the sink, but it was in a weird space, and I had some things I REALLY wanted done. The kitchen is small and does not have much in the way of counterspace, so I wanted to have two pull out cutting boards to add to the amount of counterspace. All the other folks told me to go to Ikea or Home Depot and just insert a pre-made one. Marty, on the other hand, seemed to really enjoy the challenge of giving me exactly what I wanted - and more. He takes a lot of pride in his work, and built a solid, incredibly high-quality cabinet from the ground up, helping me decide what countertop I wanted, and what type of sink to get. He came over twice to make sure the measurements were 100% correct (one of the walls is bowed, and he wanted to make sure that the splash was flush with the wall). When he finished - earlier than expected - he installed it with his son (who was super nice as well) and showed me all the bells and whistles of the piece. It is a marvel. It fits perfectly in the odd space, looks gorgeous and is as sturdy as can be. My wife and I have been marveling at it all week. This morning my wife overheard me saying "And how was your night, my beautiful?" and asked who I was talking to. I said "the new sink" and she didn't even get jealous. At first I was concerned about the price, but after installation, I feel as though it was very, very fair. Not cheap - but so well worth it. I'm a VERY satisfied customer. I've put some pictures on here, but they don't even do it justice. Look at them all, because I put the "before" picture as well. Note the pull out cutting boards. The drawers and doors are "soft closing" and Marty came back the next day to caulk it up and even sanded our old pull out cutting board for us, free of charge. If you're looking for quality, you'll find it with Quality Craftsman Cabinets.

Quality Craftsman totally lives up to its name and goes beyond expectations! We wanted our kitchen cabinets refreshed and user friendly and ended up with a kitchen showcase. Such pride in workmanship, prompt attention to detail and beauty in the finished product! Mr. Thomson and his partner worked with us from penciled plans to completion during our very stressful time of remodeling, always leaving us with encouragement and a smile. We even called him back to add a pantry. Quality Craftsman is the best of the best!!

We decided to have someone build us a bookcase for our room. We did some research on yelp and found "Marty" of Quality Craftsman. I spoke to his wife Stephanie who was quite informative and very lovely to speak with. She said she would have Marty call when he arrived home from a job he was finishing. Marty was great to speak with and we made an appointment for him to come out. Marty is one of a kind. He is very personable and has a wonderful sense of humor and immediately put us at ease. He measured the space and then went to work with a pencil and a piece of paper to draw out a few ideas with our input. He had some great ideas and gave us a price immediately. He immediately went to work and kept us updated on the progress. He was very timely on the build and organized upon the installation. He and his grandson arrived to do the install. They worked so well together is was like a ballet in sync. They were very neat and clean throughout the process. The pics do not do this piece justice. Marty's attention to detail and obvious talent to put this together are unparalleled. We are going to remodel a master bathroom and were so impressed with Marty's craftsmanship we are definitely going to have Quality Craftsman (Marty) build our bathroom vanities. Well worth it to have quality woodworking in your home! Not to mention, "Just nice people to work with!"

From the very first visit, Paul set himself apart from other contractors I had met with -- he arrived fully prepared with a variety of material and color samples, thoroughly explained the refacing process, covered warranty details, took measurements, and even designed the layout, all in a single appointment. There was never any pressure to sign, which I genuinely appreciated. When questions came up after his visit, Paul responded quickly with a phone call followed by a detailed email complete with photos and examples. That level of follow-through is hard to find. Once I signed the contract, Jaime came by to confirm measurements and listen to my ideas, translating them into a well-defined project plan. The results speak for themselves -- everything was completed ahead of schedule. The cabinet refacing surpassed my expectations, and the material we selected not only looks stunning but feels great and is effortless to clean. The new coffee bar in the living room has become an absolute showstopper, and the added cabinets in the laundry area are both practical and well-crafted. Miguel, who handled the final installation, was a true professional -- communicative, courteous, and a pleasure to have in our home. From the very beginning, he was incredibly helpful and truly understood the scope of the project and the timeframe I was aiming for. Given the complexities of other projects happening simultaneously, Tobias navigated everything with professionalism and clear communication. He set realistic expectations and timelines, which made the entire process much smoother. The final result exceeded my expectations--the new floors look fantastic! The team efficiently demoed the old flooring, reattached the baseboards, and even installed beautiful tile in the bathrooms. I couldn't be happier with the quality of work and the service I received. I highly recommend NG Flooring and give them a well-deserved five-star rating!

We hired Wolff Construction for a kitchen and living room remodel, and NG Floors was subcontracted…read moreto replace the flooring throughout our home. Unfortunately, the flooring portion of the project became an extremely stressful experience. Throughout the replacement project after our GC was informed of the flooring not being a product failure, Nazar (owner) was our primary and essentially only point of contact regarding the second flooring installation and follow-up work. One of the ongoing frustrations throughout the process was the lack of proactive communication and scheduling consistency. Many times, we found ourselves having to initiate contact just to understand timelines, next steps, or when work would actually resume. There were also instances where scheduling expectations were unclear or changed at the last minute, including receiving calls late on Fridays asking if crews could come work on Saturdays after we had previously understood that no weekend work was planned. That level of uncertainty became very difficult to manage while simultaneously trying to live around a major flooring replacement. After installation, the flooring began failing. What was initially presented as a product issue ultimately turned into a dispute involving the flooring manufacturer, who required a third-party inspection to determine the cause of failure. That independent inspection identified the issue as installation-related, including improper floor preparation, spacing issues, and the absence of a proper moisture barrier. What made the situation especially difficult was the amount of disruption this caused our family. Our home was left torn apart and partially unlivable for over three months during the holidays, beginning Nov. 3rd and extending well past New Year's and into February while the flooring issue was being addressed. This was not due to material shortages or product availability delays, but rather the prolonged pace of the repair process itself. Despite the actual flooring work only taking a couple of weeks to complete, we spent more than 90 days living in and out of the house while our belongings were stacked throughout the garage and much of the home was reduced to exposed concrete slab. We later learned that the flooring material installed was also of a noticeably lower quality than the original flooring product we believed was being matched as part of the initial remodel project. Even after the installation deficiencies were identified, many proposed solutions came with resistance or delays, and we ultimately had to hire an outside flooring professional at our own expense to oversee the final installation process ourselves. We also paid for hotel stays and other various costs associated with making sure the second replacement job was done to ASTM standards. To be fair, there were times communication was responsive, which is why this is not a 1-star review. However, this experience required far more time, oversight, and stress than any homeowner should reasonably expect from a professional flooring installation. During the amount of due diligence we were forced to do throughout this process, we also learned that California contractor regulations generally limit upfront deposits on home-improvement contracts to 10% or $1,000, whichever is less. In our case, substantially more than that was collected upfront. One thing this experience taught us is how important it is for homeowners to educate themselves on flooring installation standards, moisture requirements, and California contractor protections before beginning a major flooring project. Unfortunately, we trusted the process more than we should have and only learned many of these standards after problems began appearing. For anyone beginning a flooring project, we would strongly encourage reviewing: * ASTM flooring and subfloor preparation standards * Manufacturer installation requirements * California Contractors State License Board (CSLB) contract and deposit regulations We genuinely hope sharing our experience helps other homeowners avoid going through a similar situation.

I love my kitchen and I've also approached him about a future project. I had a basic 1970's era condo kitchen-outdated but can't really change the footprint. I tried to revive it with refacing. It still didn't function well, but I worked around it. A leak in the wall behind the cabinets, forced an unexpected remodel. I received estimates from several contractors using stock or RTA "IKEA" kitchen cabinets. The cabinets I saw in these stores did not seem as sturdy as my existing cabinets. I couldn't customize and would have similar unusable spaces where the pre-made cabinets are put together. The contractors and pre-made cabinet stores told me custom cabinets would cost twice as much as their estimates. While looking for design ideas, I saw multiple Houzz and Reddit posts stating a local carpenter could give me custom cabinets at a much better price. I am so glad I paid attention to the posts! That's how I found Sacramento Millworks. His price for my project was comparable to the quotes I received for stock cabinets. Raymond is a carpenter and a designer. Because of his experience, he handled everything. He walked me through everything, including a trip to the granite and tile shops. I just picked colors. He was very patient. Most of contractors I've worked with recently send employees to do the work. They just pop in here and there until it's time for payment. Raymond was on site working with one helper everyday. It's hard to know where to begin because the experience with KM is so different from that experienced with typical contractors. Communication. Typically a major frustration with contractors was in fact excellent with KM. Emails and calls were returned in a timely manner and they go to great lengths to explain the process and provide a detailed timeline. Duration of work. We had gotten estimates of 4-6 months to complete our remodel; KM was finished in a little over a month. They stuck to their schedule (despite problems that arose with suppliers) and always communicated any changes that were required. They handled all of the permitting requirements, and in Davis that is not a small task. Notable is that a KM staffer came to the house the day of final inspection and looked at the whole house for potential problems. He replaced ALL of our smoke detectors at no cost just to make sure there were no problems with the inspection. The Davis inspector was very impressed with the work and passed the job without any concerns. Quality of work. We had superb craftsmen work on our project; John and Zachary and Joe were all just excellent. They took pride in their work, showed up on time, and always communicated what they were doing. They took great pains to minimize dust and overall mess. Huge sheets of plastic were placed floor to ceiling to localize the dust and debris. Sheets of protective material were placed on the floor. Everything was done in a professional manner. The supervisor of our project, Edgar, was remarkable in watching over the project and being there whenever needed. Sourcing of materials. KM can provide pretty much everything you need with regards to cabinets, fixtures and some appliances. The quality of all materials from KM was excellent and so much more convenient than searching it out on your own. I have to add, however, that their recommended appliance source, A-1 appliance, was very disappointing. A-1 failed to order our rangetop despite it being paid for well in advance, and their installers were incompetent and rude. Our project foreman, Edgar, intervened and was a lifesaver in getting a rangetop in time to prevent a major delay, and in fixing the poor installation provided by A-1. Cost. We had many estimates for our remodel and KM was far from the highest. Their estimate was very accurate and very reasonable considering the quality of work, convenience, and the speed with which the work was done. In summary, Kitchen Mart stands way way above the pack when it comes to the often tedious and stressful process of remodeling your home. They offer a one stop solution, do superb work at a reasonable price, and complete the work in a very timely fashion.
