Great prices, Great service - what more could you ask? I've used these folks primarily for firewood and because of their customer-focused service and genuine gratitude, I'm going to have them bid on some tree trimming now, too! The back story... last year on a late Saturday afternoon I called them, then arrived about 10 mins before they close to get a load of firewood. Other companies I called said to come another day, but these guys said "get over here soon and we'll get you taken care of", little did they know my wife was home, sick with a cold, needing the comfy relief of a fire. It blew me away when the owner himself (Jeff?) threw on a rain slicker to help load me up in short order. This type of sincere effort is so rare these days I feel they need to be rewarded for their reputation to keep them going strong. Once again, it was time for our trees to get their annual trimming. Again, I called Peterson's Tree Works. We've used Peterson's for years and have been VERY happy with their customer service, knowledgeable arborists, and outstanding crews. One thing that always impresses me is the care they take in cleaning up after they're finished. I've never been dissatisfied with their work or their ability to work me into their schedule. As popular as they are, it can be a challenge sometimes, but I take this into consideration and make sure I call a couple of months in advance to allow for being able to get a good schedule option. I would recommend them to anyone looking for tree trimming or landscape services. read more

Jeff was completely rude!!! He is so unprofessional!! I would NOT come back here! They ripped me off, i payed $185 for them to come out and tell me what's wrong with my tree for them to tell me i need to pay money to call another company they referred me too! This is ridiculous! They also dropped one of their shovels on my dahlias THAT JUST BLOOMED!!!! They ruined my plants! WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER!!! This company is a disgrace!!! They charge a ton of money and do a totally half assed job. I have watched this company do work in my complex for over 3 years now and maybe at one time they were good because they had to be but NOT now. The workers come out and cut here and cut there and leave a complete mess in their wake. I've yet to see them clean up after themselves and what work they do actually do isn't very good. Shame on you Jeff for letting your employees get away with this. You're the man in charge but do you ever actually take a look at what your people are doing on a job sight??? We have been using Peterson's for at least ten years. We have several very large trees-Mulberry, California Pepper, Chinese Elm and a Jacaranda. Our trees look beautiful every time Peterson's has trimmed them. This week, Peterson's trimmed our giant and very overgrown Calif. Pepper, and it looks spectacular. Just beautiful. We also have two overgrown hedges, one of which was completely infested with a thorny asparagus fern. After trimming the hedge to our specifications, they trenched the entire length of the hedge (25-30 feet) to completely remove the root system. They even raked up all of the fallen leaves that had accumulated under the hedge that I couldn't get to because of the wall of fern stems. The crew that did the work arrived on time, all three gentlemen were professional, the work order was exactly as we requested, and not a single leaf was left behind after the job was completed. Once again Peterson's did a great job. We had an invasive Brazilian Pepper Tree in our backyard - right in the corner of the yard. It was a tricky job, but they managed to remove it and once again they left the yard cleaner than it was before. We had some stumps of bushes that had died and they took those with them. I will continue to use them for any tree problems we have. read more

Out of the gate, I liked the estimator Mike, and hoped for the best with this company. Unfortunately, they smashed a light in my bank, leaving 120 volt wires exposed, and never told me about it. I understand that mistakes happen and things get damaged. I also expect some integrity in dealing with the problem. I set 3 appointments with Jeff (the owner) to come out and inspect/fix the light. He never showed up for any of them. I guess my time is not as valuable as his. Since they never came over to fix it, I sent them an electrician's estimate, which was promptly refused. Instead, they wanted to set a 4th appointment for Jeff to come out... What's that old saying? Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me. I don't know what fool me three/four times means, but it can't be good for me. In the end, although the tree looks nicer, I can only see it in the daytime since they broke my light. read more

Great service! Came out promptly for estimate on removal of two very tall trees (king palm and Italian cypress) from our very small yard with difficult access. Gave us a great quote, considerably less than our other bid. Showed up on time to take out the trees with ample labor and equipment to get both trees out quickly and safely! I was told that Peterson does great work, so I gave them a call a year ago when we first moved into our house. They quoted me a very reasonable price to trim the tree in our backyard, but due to the fact that we had some other work to do, we held off on trimming it. A year later I called them back, and they said they'd need to send someone out to give another quote. This time, they quoted me almost twice as much, and when I asked why, they gave me a lot of excuses. I wouldn't have minded this conversation face-to-face, but unfortunately the person they sent out, Jeff, the owner of the company, pulled up out front of the house, had his OFFICE call me to tell me he was out front and to ask permission to go in the backyard. This would have been a smooth way to avoid me if it weren't for the fact that I have security camera footage of him pulling up and leaving within 30 seconds of arriving. He didn't even get out of his truck. They said they'd get in touch with him, and when they returned my call, he spoke to me over the phone to give me the quote. Apparently in the last year a tree went from $650 to trim to $1100 to trim. Typical over-priced BS with the excuse that "everyone who is cheaper is un-insured and un-licensed" or doesn't know what they're doing. Save your time and call a real tree service that will stick by their quotes and not try to inflate the prices without even stopping to actually estimate the job. *** In response to the owner's comments, I would have appreciated if you would've actually talked to me instead of pulling up out front and driving off. Being unwilling to get out of the car and come to the front door and talk to the person who called and setup an appointment is very rude. I spent my time waiting for you for your two-hour window, but you spent only 30 seconds (I have the security camera footage to verify this) in your car out front of my house before driving off. Furthermore, acting like you're the only one with licensed arborists and insurance is both arrogant and uninformed. Since I can guarantee that you haven't gone to every competitor in the entire Southern California area and verified their training, insurance, and otherwise, your statements are far from accurate. read more

Peterson's has handled my tree trimming for 5 years but no more. They charged over 1000 dollars to trim 4 birch trees and I pepper tree, take out one stump and plant small tree. In the process they cut my landscape lighting and offered to fix for 75 dollars an hour plus parts. Poor business practice. read more

Have been using them for years. My wife found them originally and she was very particular with anyone who did work in the yard. Have had only good experiences. Their prices seem to be in the ballpark. Always felt I got my $$ worth. They have always sent out a certified arborist to do the bid. REVISED REVIEW - 12/04/2014 After my negative review was posted, I was contacted by Karen Peterson, who apologized for the problem and said there was miscommunication with the office staff person (who is no longer employed by them). Peterson's has now reimbursed me for the cost of the repair, as well as an additional amount for my "stress and worry." This is an excellent business response to an unfortunate situation, and I now highly recommend Peterson's as a competent and professional group. DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE if you are concerned about broken pipes as a result of tree removal!! After experiencing this situation and contacting them, the office person told me that Jeff (the owner) said they "...do not take responsibility for this 'unforeseen circumstance'." I was ready to give them a 5 star review, based on their professional approach to the estimate and the job - which cost $1200. They did a great job removing our trees and cleaning up afterwards, but leaving us with a broken pipe with total unwillingness to help with the expenses for the repair is not only unprofessional but unethical. I could not be more disappointed. Next time I will stick with the Angie's list recommended vendors. read more

My family has been using Peterson's for over a decade for tree pruning and care. They consistently deliver excellent service for a great price. In our current home Peterson's has been tending to our trees since they were planted. They show care and concern for the health of the trees, often offering advice on how to fertilize, aerate, and maintain them between visits. Our trees were trimmed and the area cleaned up to perfection. I especially love how the trees look better pruned than overgrown. Often use see trees hacked back to the branches. Peterson's artfully prunes what's needed, but leaves some foliage. It's a great combination of maintenance and concern for the health of the tree. Don't let other tree companies hack your trees. After years of choosing incompetent and unqualified tree "experts" from the phone book, I called Peterson's as per the excellent recommendations written by Yelp reviewers. They were correct a thousand-fold. Although Peterson's is located in Orange, they were willing to travel outside their area, something that others were not willing to do. My trees were trimmed, cleaned-up, and pruned to perfection. They re-worked one of my giant pine trees, topped incorrectly in the past, to such a superb degree that it seems like a whole new tree--healthy and beautiful. I've been using Peterson's for over 15 years to trim and shape my trees. This is a very professional company with long term employees. Everyone from the arborist (Pete), the work crews and the foreman (Isaac) are great to work with. On July 1st they came out to shape and trim the trees and hedges in my back yard and did an excellent job. The crew showed up when promised, reviewed the scope of the job with me and immediately started working. When completed Isaac asked if the work was as expected to make sure I was completely satisfied with the job. They cleaned up all of the trimmings and used a blower to completely clean the back yard. These guys were great. Very accomodating. Very personable. Very professional. I had multiple trees trimmed, including a giant sycamore, and multiple removed. The estimate was clear and detailed. An entire army of people showed up for the work and they got things done in a few hours. They introduced me to the foreman in case I needed to tell them anything, but then 2 more supervisors showed up, and when the job was nearly complete, the owner of the company also came by to check on things. One little touch that I really appreciated is one of the supervisors even got my pool leaf rake and pulled out as much of the debris that made its way in to the pool. They were consciously trying to avoid getting anything in the pool but some was unavoidable. I chose this company because it is run by an arborist, I think its only the owner, and maybe one other person that is actually a "certified" arborist, but plants have hormones too, and they control the growth of the plant and the hormones are produced in different parts. Cutting off the wrong part could cause the tree to grow too fast or incorrectly, or actually sicken the tree. I am interested to see how my trees grows over the next year or two, but I am pretty confident they did it right. I will update my review if they didnt. I will be calling these guys again when I need my next tree trim. read more

I appreciated the call and agreed to let them finish job. She sent what looked like two crews and they showed up exactly the time she said they would. We've had our large Chinese elm trimmed by Peterson's Tree Works for years, so it was natural to call them when we needed not only the tree trimmed, but our backyard cleared, too. We did get another estimate, but were uncomfortable with the estimator. Our Peterson's estimator has always been Mike Moore, who gave what we thought was a reasonable estimate (the crew did refer to the backyard as a "jungle"), so we set an appointment (the first was cheerfully changed to meet our needs), Told the crew would arrive between 7 and 8am, we saw the 4 men drive up at 7:30, ready to work. Mike arrived shortly after that, and talked with the crew leader about what was to be done. At 3:30 that afternoon, we had a tree ready to withstand the Santa Ana winds, and a backyard cleared to the dirt, bush stumps ground. I had little contact with the workers, who were focused on their tasks, but they were pleasant when addressed, and the crew leader was the same one who had led the crew the last time our tree was trimmed. Everyone, from the young women who answer the phone and set appointments, to the men who came out to the house, were professional and easy to work with. One note: The emailed written estimate I received was very brief, but having talked with Mike, I had no worries that everything we'd discussed would be done.
