I stopped in here to get flowers for my mom and they have a beautiful selection. They have these cool pouches too that you can put the flowers in that have water in them that keep your flowers from drying out. It's way bigger inside than you think too, I really enjoyed walking through and seeing everything. Definitely a great cold brew selection! read more

I love that this Pete's has a great selection of ethnic foods, including spices and grocery items (e.g. pomegranate molasses, halva, greek oregano, etc.) that I can't get at my local Whole Foods or other large grocery store. They also have a pretty great hot/cold food bar, a juice/smoothie bar near the entrance with tasty drinks, a large selection of fresh cut fruit, Dietz and Watson deli items, a pretty big wine/liquor/charcuterie section, and sushi bar for both pre-made as well as made-to-order sushi rolls. The sushi chef that's there around lunchtime is super friendly and the specialty rolls (crunchy roll type things) are tasty. This is the best spot in the neighborhood for groceries or to pick up some lunch during your lunch break. The store is clean as well. I can't speak to the produce as I haven't shopped here for that, and their selection of basic household goods (cold medicine, laundry detergent, etc.) is very small, so I'd only come here strictly for groceries and prepared foods. My only real complaint though is that it's tough to get into and out of the parking lot. There's a lot going on at this intersection (cars speeding down Western and Madison, poor visibility due to bus stop right in front of the parking lot, etc.). If there was a traffic light at the entrance to the parking lot, it would be so much better. read more

I really love Pete's selection. They have everything I want/need. Always are fully stocked. And it's always super clean. The major issue here is how long the checkout lines get. Parking also isn't easy...but thats a trend across multiple grocery stores, so no points taken off there. This location is massive. Their produce section has so much fresh produce, and is organized great. If they can get their checkout together, this would be my go to grocery store every week, but because it's such a mission I usually go elsewhere. read more

You can never go wrong with Pete's. Got in and got out. No long lines at all. Food and fruits are always fresh.

Came to this store to host a complimentary wine tasting for Jam Jar wines. Plenty of parking was located outside. The store itself is located at the intersection that is quite busy. Once inside the store there's so much to choose from. They have a amazing produce and expansive meat department. They also have a huge deli offering hot and cold items by the pound (9.99/lb). I saw catfish, fried okra, macaroni and cheese, fried chicken, & different types of fish. The bakery item was also very poppin, this one customer told me that he comes every Friday night to buy 3 desserts. He stated he also plans on eat all 3 desserts tonight. The store also had its own side liquor department. Inside the liquor department was various wines, beer, and liquor's. One thing to note is that security tends to stay in the liquor department which is nice because sometimes people try to steal. Just be prepared that if you grab liquor you'll be requested to pay for it in the liquor department itself. read more

I am very disappointed by the Pete's on Madison & Western. It is always too crowded in the lines ,and takes a log time to get out. They could do better. If they cared. That's not the worst thing about this Petes. If you don't own an SUV DO NOT PARK HERE. They have additional Parking Bricks directly in front of ones already there by a few feet. So you end up with ~ $1,000 of damage to your bumper, as I did. They/Claims Agency will not help you with this either. Walgreens and none of the other businesses in the area except Pete's has this. They say it's to keep cars from going though the fence instead of removing it :(. Yeah right. I have several neighbors who don't shop there bc of it. Clearly they don't care enough about their patrons to remove them. There is always Marianos/Jewel's if you want to keep your car. read more

Such a wonderful spot here in this area. Pete's Fresh Market has great prices and all of their offers and deals here are reasonable. They have a wide selection of produce such as fish, meats, veggies, fruits, and others. Everything they have in this place is fresh and new. Well-maintained and organized place. You can easily find the things you are looking for and even the imported products that are difficult to find at other stores around. I really love this place because of its ambiance and vibe. Very clean and bright store. They also have sections that are really nice and not all the stores around have those sections. Like fruit salad section, veggie salad section, sweet desserts section, and others. Enjoyable sections and amazing options. Wonderful place that is full of awesome offers. Their staff is friendly, nice, attentive, and professional. They are really good in terms of talking and treating the customers. They really love their job and all the things they do when they are at work. You can definitely tell that they are well-trained because they all know how to do their role perfectly. They served the orders on time, helped the customers, and even made friends with some of them. Pete's Fresh Market is definitely a gem store in this area. Disappointed. Apparently, if you want to sandwich is premade and premade only. definitely just want sandwitch with out eggs or products. Apparently the proper answer for can I make you a sandwich without dressing on it is to scoff at the customer And to tell them to comeback that they do not always smother ever thing with his mayonnaise. This is about Instacart which doesn't come up for review. They are the worst, unreliable, rude and unprofessional business I have ever had to deal with. Had to order a delivery and paid extra for "Expedited Service" at 1:15-1:30 when I ordered at 12:30. They changed the time to 2:30. Then they changed the time to 3:15. Then they changed the time to 5:30. And still didn't show up. I had company and was hoping for the service they promised. I called Instacart. "Nothing we can do unless you want to cancel your order." Really? Then call Pete's the Customer service person who answered the phone said "We have nothing to do with them" and seemed perturbed I was even calling them. I said well it is a reflection on your store which I frequent every week and I am an unhappy customer. He says "then call Instacart." Wow! Shame on both Pete's and Instacart. Here in the city I've been to many grocery stores, especially the one's near by... but they are all over priced, out of fresh produce, and over crowded. Not Pete's. Low prices, the store is STOCKED will everything and anything. They have a whole vegan section, fresh sushi and poke bowls made on-demand, the LARGEST hot food section I've ever seen and not to mention the nicest staff around! I am really disappointed in the management of Pete's at the Bridge view location. I usually shop there for all my middle eastern groceries and specially around the holidays. It seems the management does not think that the Christian Arabs are worthy of a middle eastern products sale to enjoy for our Christmas celebration. I say this because I see the management festive and happy spirit around the Islamic celebrations and Holidays. Just be fare and do not be such a liberal hack when it comes the rest of us (Arabic Christians)........ Overall Pete's is a great grocery store with quality meat and produce, reasonable prices and a wide variety of shelf stable products. The hot bar and freshly baked goods are as good if not better than you'd find in other chain stores. I deducted a star for two reasons. First, for some reason their fruits and vegetables spoil within a week. The produce displays are always beautifully stacked and featured upon stepping into the store. Perhaps they look so nice because they're already ripe. My second reason for deducting a star is because of a customer service issue that wasn't resolved properly by the grocery manager. Corporate exceeded my expectation by apologizing for the inconvenience and mailing out a store credit. My issue should've been handled without getting corporate involved, but at least they made up for it. .. hence 4 stars. Depending on what I'm buying, I usually make my rounds at Trader Joe's, Mariano's, Aldi & Whole Foods. Pete's has worked their way into my grocery routine. read more

As a white male, with a giant shopping bag...as large as a suitcase...I was prepared to walk right on in, until a store employee told my wife, who is African American, that she could not go inside the store with her backpack. She's have to turn that over to store personnel until she was done shopping. They didn't want her to steal anything apparently. We turned right around the drove north to Jewel Osco, where she wasn't presumed to be a criminal. Attached are images of our Jewel receipt...we did quite a bit of stocking up. And here's a photo of the bag the white guy was allowed to carry in (pictured her with her backpack inside the bag for size comparison). Sad state of affairs when you criminalize your customers. Finally a Pete's in the deserted area for fresh fruits and veggies. Absolutely lovely location and the fact that they have a fish area here they will make your fish fried while you wait is awesome. Sushi bar, hamburger bar, burrito bar wow what else do they have? I requested and item and the manager said next time I come in that they will have it available, that's awesome service. I have been introduced to new items here also and for that I am happy. This is one of those salad bar stops for sure and the selection of fresh items is really great considering that most places will give you a small selection. The fact that the items on the salad bar are fresh really makes me come back over and over again. You have to check them out for yourself and believe me it is a very safe place I shop. I really love Pete's Fresh Market! Prior to moving to East Garfield Park Neighborhood, a nice market was something that I could not find within the neighborhood itself, but Pete's is only over a mile away from me which makes it convenient for me especially while leaving work via N Western Ave. If it weren't for Pete's, I would probably do most of my shopping at either 'Family Dollar' or 'Aldi' which it is obvious that the quality is 10 times better at Pete's. I come to Pete's mostly to purchase meats, fruits and breads because of the price & quality. However, I have noticed the huge selection of pre-made foods in the Deli and it was all over once I discovered that they had my favorite ice cream which is 'Ben & Jerry's'. They also had other brands that I never heard of in the ice cream section, but I will not touch on that because I could go all day about ice cream, hehe. Ice cream is sent from heaven! And great if you want to take a cheat day from your workout. I can always count on this market to have anything that I desire whether pre-made or not. In a world of local chain or larger scale chain supermarkets, Pete's somehow manages to keep that mom and pop market feel. By far my favorite store here in Chicago, Pete's always has the freshest and largest variety of produce. The meat counter is ran by knowledge butchers. I have seen them challenged by the many home and soul food cooks at this particular location, and I'd say they hang right in with selection and suggestions. The market side of the store is large and has the brand staples and a few that would surprise the most diehard of Whole food shoppers. Larger wine and liquor section and a giant hot counter for those just grabbing something quick. read more

Recently Pete's has instituted a policy of making customers purchase wine and spirits separately from other items. This means that one must go through two check outs. I fail to understand how this process is anything but an inconvenience to the customer. Previously one could check out in the liquor department and have all items paid for there. Now,only liquor can be purchased in said department, then you must proceed to another check out line for the rest of your purchases. Sorry guys, but I am very dissatisfied about this! This is my favorite grocery store. The staff are kind, friendly and helpful. The store is squeaky clean, the setup is gorgeous, and they always have great deals! They have practically everything you could possibly want...And have an excellent variety of foods including package items and quality dishes. I previously thought they were "pricey", but now that all supermarkets have raised their prices, it's not really that expensive. Really my list goes on. Unreal that this is the grocery store closest to me in Tri-Taylor. If you have a Discover debit or credit card or want to use Apple Pay don't bother because they will decline your purchase and make a fool out of you like they did to me. Had to go home without groceries tonight and on top of that they are way more expensive than Jewel. Somehow they accept Apple Cash but not Apple Pay?? Ridiculous. Lines take anywhere from 10-20 minutes to get through which is absurd, and on top of that, the few times I've visited this location there are never any baskets available, or I can never find any. I'll be sticking to shopping at Jewel for the most part. I'd shop here more if it wasn't for all I mentioned cause there's a wide selection of food, but I always feel hassled when I come here. read more

I can't stand that they have the carts where you have to insert a quarter for the cart, then they have the carts lined up by the entrance so after you've shopped and loaded your food into your car, you have to walk the cart all the way back to the entrance. A lot of people don't feel like doing that, SO the employees run and collect the carts and put the quarters In their pockets, they use to have a meat department but now it's just a freezer with packed meat, also go there early morning or right before they close to have a peaceful shopping experience! They are clean and well stocked. UPDATE: To the person that responded to my review, I understand why you implemented the cart system, what don't make sense is in order to get my quarter back, I can't just walk to the designated areas in the parking lot, they are always chained, I have to walk all the way back to the entrance, most people don't want to do that so they are out of their money which then goes into the pockets of the employees. read more

no grocery carts. abundance of produce and meats. however, what can one buy, when you're stuck with a little basket? yogurt select is very limited, as is the dairy and pre-packaged deli meats. Interestingly, they have some unique organic brands, as well as Amish products, available. Their pre-made food buffet is expansive and looked great, but expensive / overpriced at like $11/lb. Given the location and limited parking, and just nuisance of no available grocery carts in the early-afternoon of a weekend, we're likely to skip this place and keep on going to Mariano's or Jewel. read more
