Petes replaced a starter two months ago and unfortunately, it was faulty. They honored the warranty and replaced at no charge. If I could give a zero, I would. While the car was in the shop, all four tires were stolen off of our car and replaced with dangerous, bald ones. My daughter could have been in a serious accident. Within minutes of leaving the garage (for A/C and fan belt repair), the front bumper and a wheel well fell off of the car. The next morning, a flat tire. The fact that new Bridgestones (less than 10K miles) were replaced with bald, 2017 Michelins was discovered by bringing the car to a tire shop. Really, really disappointing. read more

I called this shop in the morning and asked if they could do a full diagnostic report on my vehicle- they said "sure, bring it on in." When I arrived, the desk employee looked confused and quoted me prices for and oil change... I told him I didn't need an oil change, I was there for diagnostics... He stumbled upon his words a bit and said "right, right..." I came back a few hours later and they quoted me about $1500 in suggested repairs and said I should get an oil change as well. We took the diagnostics report and left as nothing they suggested seemed like it would fix the problem. After a bit more google research, we decided to try and replace the temperature sensor for about $25 and fixed this the problem. Don't trust these guys- not helpful at all read more

From what I understand, the original owner of Pete's (Pete himself) retired a few years ago, and the garage has gone down a bit since then. Brought our car in for a quote, and they were going to charge us $1500 for parts/Labor. Took our car to an independent mechanic, and we were charged $150 for labor, and $293 for parts. That's a savings of over $1000. Not to mention, our mechanic noted that not the full system in question needed to be replaced; just a small part. So Pete's recommended more work than was necessary, and charges a LOT for labor on top of that. We won't be going back. read more

Without any hesitation, do not fail to bring your car to Pete's Garage. John has supreme ethics and will never sell you on something that is not needed and his prices reasonable. My car broke down in the middle of the road early like 7:20am. I called ahead to petes garage and they let the tow truck drop the car off . They diagnosed my car right away and didn't charge me like a dealership would. I had to give the man 20 bucks because he was honest with me. (I push any car I own, no matter the vehicle even a smart car I had as a loaner one time so I knew it was bad.) They gave me 2 days till I figured something out, they didn't even call me to tell me its in the middle of there parking lot. If I could of fixed my car at Petes garage, I would of with no hesitation. Sad that the only people that leave reviews are the ones pissed enough, to go through the effort. Pete's Garage is Definatley my go to spot for my car repairs. They are honest with you and inform you of multiple options to repair rather then just give the highest price. In my case, buying part of a part was more money then purchasing the complete part and they gave me the option to decide which would be better. When I weighed my options, I decided to have the full part put in so I don't have to come back in again just to pay more labor if the older part wore out sooner then the new one. I didn't pay much more in labor and I feel was given the best change at actually making an educated decition. read more

Stop now: Drive to ALL AMERICAN AUTO in Longmont. Ah, Pete's....I suppose an employee purchased Mr. Diehstuhl's good reputation, and changed the garage name to his first.... YUCK! That's about all that remains of 20 years of hard work, excellent service, an impeccable reputation and trust beyond belief. You always knew you would get the honest truth, and excellent quality work - better than at your dealer. Twice in a row now, I have been ripped off. This time, it was over a $900 timing belt/water pump replacement which was made on-time, meant to last another 100k miles, and 40k later, I am planning to sell my car (Acura). But nay, "what's that I hear? The wrenching and churring of a timing belt about to shear off at any minute." Ears dull to car rattles - yet, even I could pick up on this bizarre whirr. Quick visit to the HONEST AS THE DAY IS LONG FOLKS AT: ALL-AMERICAN AUTO in LONGMONT - yep. That sure is a timing belt ready to fall off-and-you'd-better-replace-that-bad-pump-too... :(. They accurately diagnosed this because they were performing a valve job. No mistake. So, I call over to Petes, and the receptionist chews me out, refusing to allow me to speak to a mechanic, insisting that she knows cars. (This is the SECOND time in 9 months she's done this when I complained about shoddy workmanship on an expensive job). I ask the mechanic to speak to my trusted Longmont guy, professional to professional, thinking that perhaps that may help. All we learned was that indeed, low-quality parts were used in the work. Place call to Pete's receptionist: "Well, even if the parts aren't great, this business has been sold twice in the past two years, so we're not responsible for the work of the people who were h ere under that owner's employment - and WE ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE!
