We purchased a brand new camper from Petes last month we were told we would be contacted in a week to set up pick up date. Needless to say that did not happen we let a few weeks go by and call ourselves and they said we can come pick up on a Friday,so we make the trek up there and we're told oh no camper not ready . Obviously there is a disconnect with communication pretty sad when your a big time RV dealer. Needless to say a month goes by and finally our long awaited RV gets delivered . Well you would think after paying a set up fee it would be clean, checked over for any issues, obviously none of that happened as our brand new nobo camper whole bottom frame is rusted a long with other issues. Stay away from this place it is horrible! My wife and I purchased a used RV from Pete's RV center and I initially had some hesitation when the salesperson wouldn't return our phone calls. We were promised a delivery date 3 weeks out from our initial visit, but nothing was initiated financially for a few weeks in and I should've stopped at this point. After 3 weeks we go into sign our purchase agreement and set up a delivery date. The delivery date was set for 2 weeks (via phone call) after our signing. At our delivery appointment we are told by the finance manger that we need to re-submit financial document because we surpassed the bank's 30 day window for delivery!!! They knew this and did not relay this information by simply calling us as opposed to waiting until we arrived for our delivery with our 4 year-old daughter. Needless to say she was very upset! COMMUNICATION is important and clearly Pete's RV has none. The finance department didn't even let the service department know of these issues as they were prepping our camper for delivery! In the end, I'm glad we went elsewhere as the kicker for this review, I witnessed the service department dumping the black tank on the camper I was about to take home. SERIOUSLY!?!?! We had some initial problems with the first salesperson we were working with, so some of our add ons fell through the cracks as well as some of the conversations surrounding pricing. The appointment to sign went well with a new salesperson (very likely as we had done so much research on this model that we knew more than the sales staff). The major problem was with pickup, many of the staff and customers coming through were not following mask guidelines and the man giving us the walk through kept coming up to us not wearing a mask. He kept making jokes that made it clear it would not be an option to ask him to comply, overall made what should have been a fun day taking a trailer home a nerve wracking health experience. read more

They are selling RVs and campers and don't have the staff to prep them. They were shut down for a few weeks due to the pandemic but they keep telling us that the one we purchased in early March is being prepared and we will have it soon but it's still not ready. They promised we would have it this week (also said that last week) and it's still not ready and won't be for a few more days because apparently they don't work over the weekend even though we were told that it might be ready tomorrow (Saturday). We are making payments and don't have it. They are completely disorganized and they don't even talk to each other - between sales, finance and service. They will lie to you just to keep you quiet to buy themselves more time. There are so many unhappy customers right now but they don't care. They just keep selling RVs and campers but can't produce them. I wish we knew that we would be treated this way. We would have bought it elsewhere. I guess I should have looked at online reviews before buying. Will update review when we finally have it and it's in good condition. read more

I brought my Forestriver travel trailer in for warranty work on July 31st. It needed a new pitch arm for the awning, a new shade for the bedroom and the closet door adjusted and a leak in the shower fixed. Everything was done except for the pitch arm for the awning which has been broken since February. Also I asked Andrew if he could install my 2000 watt inverter into the panel if not I would purchase the proper one for the job about a week later Andrew called me and said that my inverter was compatible but I would have to purchase a 100 watt fuse for the job and pay about 500.00 dollars in labor for the installation I told Andrew go ahead and do the work. I pick up camper Aug 24th take it home turn on inverter and there is no power to the outlets. I called Andrew around 11 30 Aug 25 to see if he could tell me if I was doing something wrong he told me he would have the technician who installed it called when he returned from lunch. I wait until about 2 pm no call so I try calling back Phil answers phone and tells me Andrew has been flat out all morning and has no time to talk with me. I then call back and ask to speak with store manager but was told she was busy and would call me back I'm still waiting read more

We bought our new Jayco at the Burlington location considering it was thousands cheaper and Plainville wouldn't match the price. A year later we brought it to plainville for warranty repairs. What a nightmare! They kept our camper for 8 weeks and did nothing to it. There were about 10 items on the repair list and 2 were addressed. They told us they fixed everything. Still having the same problems. Their service team is non existent, the only 2 things repaired were fixed when Randy (service manager for all locations?) was there visiting. We have been waiting 3 weeks for them to call us back with a date for our new fridge install. Keep in mind, our Jayco was built pre-pandemic. read more

I deal with them because I have to and do not have another Jayco approved dealer in the area, but it is so painful. Dealership is poorly run and you'll immediately notice this when you arrive. Very disorganized, not focused on the customer and communication is non-existing / hands down the worst that I have experienced in the RV industry. Steer clear if you are able to. read more

An open letter to Scott Borden, Todd McGinnis and Chad Shepard the owners of Pete's RV Center in Plainville, Mass. In January 2019, I went into Pete's RV to purchase an RV with the last money I had from leaving Co. I'm retired and would be living in the unit full-time. I bought a 2003 Starcraft Antiqua that needed a new floor. I paid $4100.00 in cash for it. It was delivered to my daughters house in Little Compton, RI and parked. With all the rain Rhode Island experienced this year, I wasn't able to get to repairing the floor. It was still raining in May, then in June, the weather started giving away to nicer days. The first non rainy day, I went in to clean the RV and discovered I knew absolutely nothing about the water, propane, electric, putting out the beds at each end, hoses, black water, gray water, sewage....nothing, nadda. What are these gages and buttons on the wall??? I hook up what where? Wasn't someone suppose to walk me through and explain the workings of what I purchased? I made a list of what had to be done and what I thought was important to know as far as repair and the workings of my new home. I joined several RV sights and found I had to define why the floor was bad and where the problem originated from before I could even attempt to fix it. So I started looking....no roof leakage, yeah, but where? Ah ha!! Ceiling fan in bathroom was broken and the cover wasn't on completely (it too was broken) so water poured in when it rained.....hence the wet, soft floor in bathroom, hall and closet area. The other place was in the front, the emergency window wouldn't close properly and when it rained it poured in-down the wall and onto the floor! Now I knew. I started checking the outside walls and wow....lots of bowing, soft spots and pulling away from the seams. I looked between the outside wall and it was rotted and full of black mold!!!! Oh boy, this is bad and so much worse than expected. I'm 67 with some health issues and after looking into the black mold issue I realized this was a very dangerous situation and a job for trained professionals. By this time I had been sleeping in one of the pop-outs and was noticing other issues arising. One of them being the drawers wouldn't open unless pried with a crowbar and then they would never shut again. After discovering the walls and mold problem I immediately called the gentleman who sold me the unit and explained the situation, nicely asking what Petes would do to rectified the big problem, the walls and black mold. Since that time I had to moved out of my 3 week stay (sleeping only) in the trailer because of pneumonia. I am aware that time has passed and I am now parked in Middletown at my daughters new house and it was always my intention to start this project sooner rather than later, however weather was not permitting. This should not be a penalty for the passing of time since I alone would be doing the work. Granted, to many $4000.00 isn't a lot of money, but to me it literally was all I had. I thought I had purchased a decent product from a reputable dealer but now it seems I'm a senior citizen causality in a big boys game. I told the dealer that if they would fix the walls and mold or exchange my RV for something similar without black mold, that would be great and so appreciated. I did mention that I wasn't nor did I have another $4000.00 or $5000.00 dollars to purchase a replacement. Yesterday, I was notified of a smaller, newer unit that had a lot less room but was certainly a good compensation. What was the catch? $1000.00 dollars for my trade in and $4275.00 more plus tax etc. Wow, I was shocked and saddened that Pete's was another...FAMILY owned business concerned with nothing more than money and their bottom line. Hello big business goodbye doing the right thing and compassion. Come on Pete's, step up and be the reputable, kind company I'd like to believe you are. You have family, a grandmother, would you be happy to see her in a situation like this? You're somebodies sons, I know your mothers raised you better. I'm trying to resolve this is a peaceful, kind manner, but please, don't take my wanting to resolve this in a civil manner as a weakness by someone who can't stand or speak up for herself. There's a whole lot of senior citizens, we are a large group! I really don't want to fight, but I will. I have a feeling that I'm not the only unsatisfied Pete's customer. They saved our trip. We have been on road for 8 weeks from Gulf Shores AL. Our next tongue jack broke on our 30' 2016 Forest River bought at dealership in Kennesaw GA in May 2017. So yesterday was the big day, we picked up our long awaited camper. We headed to Pete's RV in Plainville MA for a 3:00 appt. They were prompt and were ready for us. We had our walk through and to my pleasant surprise the tiles had been replaced behind the stove. The god awful plastic gray fake tile was removed and the much more visually appealing glass looking tile was installed (probably also plastic but much nicer). I have to say they had to search for this and from what I was told it was quite a process to locate those tiles! Also, they must have had extra tiles because they went all the way across behind the sink when the others were only installed behind the stove...a very pleasant surprise I must say!! Thank you Pete's!!! So why only three stars. Maybe I'm confused regarding what was included in dealer prep? In shopping for other RV's we actually toured a unit at another dealership closer to home that was being readied for delivery. At the time that camper was in the middle of being washed on the outside. The inside had been thoroughly cleaned and we were told to be quick in and out...I don't even think once a unit is sold we were supposed to have been in there...oh well, not my problem we were quick and we didn't mess it up...this again was not at Pete's. I must say that unit shined inside and out. When we picked up our camper I expected the same I guess, instead, it looked like it had been mud bogging. The tires were covered with mud and the outside was dirty. I know where the mud came from since when we bought the camper it was a rainy day and we had worn our rain boots...they were covered with the same mud. The camper was in the satellite lot...the very muddy satellite lot where we went to see it. Let it be said, that was fine...the lot is dirt/gravel and when it rains that stuff turns to mud. The person doing our walk through said the unit had been washed...come on, they forgot the tires?! The inside had dirt and plastic wrappings of some sort and shavings from what appeared to be construction on the floor. The drawer stop was not installed on one of the big drawers under the dinette and the chip in the wood on the other dinette drawer was still there, it hadn't been touched up. There was some substance on both tables on the side of the couch that almost prevented me from buying that particular unit in the first place. Upon my inspection on the purchase day I was able to scrape it off with my nail. I was assured that that substance and the other things I noticed would be taken care of. The substance was still there, it hadn't been cleaned. There were a few other problems, but the cleaning was a big one especially for me. What was really embarrassing was when the neighbors who we had been chatting with for a month about our "new" rv asked us if was used? Noting that it was dirty inside and out. I understand we didn't buy the most expensive unit on the lot, but we handed over a rather LARGE check and with that check a dealer prep was included. I understand that this is the busy season (we were actually told that when we asked about how dirty it was) but we waited a month for our camper to be prepped and I'm not sure what took so long. Other than that they were nice and process was pleasant and the person that walked us through seemed very knowledgeable. Pete's took over what used to be Macdonalds RV (who we purchased our last RV from which we had for 16 years) and I don't think they have been there that long so maybe they are still working out the kinks. read more

Traveling from California. Recently had some real problems with our 5th wheel. Multi function board and landing gear. Found a recommendatIon to MacDonald's RV (way back in Washington DC as we were heading for Foxboro, MA). Their service was awesome. Professional, competent, and friendly. I have had to use RV repair services in Alaska, Canada, the southern states and my own area near San Francisco. I would recommend them above any other RV repair service I have ever used. If you need an RV repair, and you are in their area I would recommend them. We travel with a 5th wheel. read more

After deciding to leave the campground I grew up in for 20+ years, I knew my family needed a camper with a layout that worked better for our needs. We asked friends and family where to buy a camper from and Pete's RV was recommended over and over again. We took a ride over to their Plainville location and was greeted by our sales rep Tom Barnes. From the moment we sat down to speak with him, we felt he listened to what we needed, what we wanted and what our budget was. He was very knowledgeable about their inventory and answered all of our questions. We actually talked about needing to add doors to a model that we were interested in and Tom went out as soon as we left and measured the spaces and got us quotes and specs to have them installed. We ultimately decided we wanted to pay off some other items before we pulled the trigger on a trailer. Tom respectfully stayed in contact letting us know of any price changes on models we looked at and kept us in the loop on when the camping shows in our area would be. We ended up visiting him at the Boston show and he took the time to bring us back through the models we were interested in and get us the pricing. When we decided we were ready a couple weeks later, Tom went above and beyond to get us all of the information in a timely fashion and connected us with the finance manager to answer all of our questions. On the day we signed our papers, Tom arranged for the staff to stay late to accommodate our work schedule and get the transaction completed -- as a bonus the whole staff tolerated our fussy 1 year old. We truly felt like Pete's RV welcomed us into their little family and we're very happy with their customer service. read more

I brought my 2014 Cherokee travel trailer there for an electrical brake issue due to a crimped power cable from the trailer to the trucks plug in connection. After the cable was replaced, It was "discovered" while the mechanic was working on the front brakes, that the front trailer axle was bent, directly in the middle. The axle was not bent before the work was conducted. I had inspected the under carriage before bringing the trailer there and again checked it when I dropped it off at Macdonalds R/V to inspect the overheated brake system. Ample opportunities were given to both Bob, the service manager and the business owner, Karen Macdonald to admit fault and make amends for the damage. Both denied fault and could not explain why or how it was damaged. Ms Macdonald did offer a to give me a break on the labor cost. The trailer was moved from there and brought to Campers Inn in Merrimac NH where their team of mechanics and service manager inspected the damaged axle. It found that a hydraulic floor jack had been used in the damaged area and the cup of the jack could be detected on the axle. After spending $1300.00 to replace the axle and over a months worth of camping lost. Avoid that business at all expense, you could be next. read more

Went to this camper store because we needed a new plug. I had the camper with me and they looked it up and ordered the part so it seemed that they were helpful. They called when it came in and we went and picked it up and brought it home. However, when we got home it didn't work. We were now in a jam and found a REALLY helpful RV store in uxbridge and got what we needed. Right away When we went to return the incorrect plug to McDonalds within 24 hours they said they don't take back special orders. Really?? Not the point of the cost but talk about not feeling valued as a customer. They ended up taking it back reluctantly and after I made my frustration very clear. Not my best experience compared to store in Uxbridge. read more

We brought our camper in for some repair work. They did an excellent job with that however when my husband went to pick up the camper there were multiple things that had been stolen off of the camper! They have no fence around the yard where they keep the campers. When we told them what happened they acted surprised and said strange that it seems to only be your camper.....almost sounded like they were accusing us of lying about it! When I called back again after we realized something else had been stolen the manager told me to call my homeowners insurance and said she thought it was time for us to part ways!!!?? They have terrible customer service! If you need something fixed I wouldn't leave your camper overnight!!! read more
