My husband has been coming to Pete to tailor his suits for over 30 years. His work is impeccable. A old school tailor for sure. He is quick and the quality is unequal. I love a tailored suit, it just lays so much nicer. Pete does a wonderful job and the prices are reasonable. She forgot the ticket asked nicely if she could pick up the pants without the ticket and he started raising his voice swinging his hands in the air saying no ticket no pants like it was a big issue. This guy is a pretty decent Taylor, you just need to watch out if he's in a good or a bad mood he can explode on you has a temper of a dog, I've brought clothes before here and sad to say I will never return after today's service I asked him a simple question about the link on my slacks and he blew up on me basically told me to leave and I'll come back because he had too much work, it's understandable if he has a lot of work and he can't keep up with the high demand but come on man you should be screaming at customers and blowing up like that. Pete's is a place I'm proud to finally place on the map. I'm not sure how long he's been here at this location. I've only been living in Downey for about nine months. Don't expect glitz and glamor inside of a tailor shop. Do expect to see sewing machines, needles, and thread. Oh and how did I forget the tape measure and chalk. These are all essential tools for a great tailor. Located inside of a run own strip mall. Note: this parking lot has dips in it that can only be navigated on Monster trucks. Bit of an exaggeration, bit the lot is not leveled. That didn't stop me. I took a couple of my girl's premium jeans here hoping he could fix and hem them. On short notice Pete's came through just before a big Vegas trip. My girl was happy. I'm very particular on where I take my tailoring. Especially, my jeans. I just spend way too much many on denim. I head over to Pete's and get my jeans back in two days. The guy is very pleasant. Don't waste his time either. I can tell he's good at what he does. He's quick with his hands. Check your wallets before you leave too. He's that quick. The final damage for four pairs of jeans that needed hemming and cut from the width. $38. read more

Visited this place for the first time in 2017 and had him do work for me on about 3 different occasions. The work was acceptable and as reasonably priced, but the experience, however, was not very pleasant. Each time I visited I felt like I was being rushed and he seemed very irritable, but I nonetheless let it go because I didn't want to agitate him further and figured I just got him on a bad day. I visited this place again a few days ago looking to taper some chinos and a shirt, the place was empty so he came to greet quickly (although not so kindly). I immediately felt uncomfortable because his tone and body language told me he was agitated, apparently. I chose to not address his behavior, despite feeling very dejected. He took measurements quickly and felt relieved because I just wanted him to tell me the total so I could leave. He quoted me $68 for the two garments, which I felt was ridiculously over price. He had done the exact alterations on the same kind of material to 7 pieces of clothes before for less than that, so I was confused. I didn't want to insult his expertise, so rather than ask why so much or anything, I just asked if that was the best price he could do considering I purchased these two items in particular for about $25 total, so it wasn't really worth the investment. Before I even finished that question he just flipped and started going off. He was yelling belligerently, mocking my question and saying things under his breath. I figured maybe he heard wrong, so just to clarify I said "I was just asking if that's the best price, if not it's okay no worries". He ignored me, grabbed a clipboard with his pricing and threw it in front of me while still yelling so many things I couldn't even tell what he was saying anymore. My father and younger brother watched the entire thing from the car. I felt so disrespected and belittled. One of, if not, the worst customer service I've experienced in years, and so uncalled for. NEVER going back to Pete again. No one deserves to be treated that way for no reason. read more
