He pointed out several spots of my tux that needed attention. Pinned the alterations, scheduled my pickup, and was out the door in under 20 minutes. After driving home, I decided I wanted to pick up my tux a few days earlier, so I called Ara and asked. He was super accommodating and moved my pickup up a few days, free of charge. While the store is not much to look at, the person working here is a the real deal. I got my two suits tailored here and both came out great. One of them being my wedding suit. You can tell the guy has many years of experience, walked in (no appointment necessary) and he only needed about 10 mins to measure me up. Such a great place to get your clothes tailored. I was on a hunt to find a local place to get my jeans hemmed. The place I used to go to is in Downey l, which isn't far but I wanted someplace local. Other places either had mixed reviews or only a couple 5 star reviews which sometimes are hard to tell if it's real or fake. So I decided to give this place a try. Form the first time I came in, the owner made me feel welcomed and was genuinely interested in getting to know me which make you feel more comfortable. I had some dress pants and jeans that needed altering. He gave me his reconditions on the lengths and for the jeans I didn't want them as short so he told me what the next best option would be to do to still make them look good but not super short. I got them back and the free pants were perfect. Few weeks later I brought some more jeans and told him how I wanted them to sit and let him show me what was best and when they came back they were perfect. One day when I was there he was helping a girl out who was picking up a dress and when she tried it on she was in love and thanked him for doing such a great job so I know he can do more complicated work. He is very busy but I do not need my items ASAP but I'm pretty sure for a fee he can make sure you get your items when you want them. I was in town to visit family for the holidays and needed several items dry cleaned. When I picked up our items the evening before I was flying out, I noticed my coat had a 2-3 foot rip in the back. The seams had completely unraveled. I took it back and -- this is the reason for the 5 stars. He apologized and also "double locked" the seams so it wouldn't unravel next time. It took under an hour but he was able to do it all before I had to fly out the next morning. Coat is good as new. Things happen -- whether in or out of the business's control. Don't let the looks of this place fool you, Ara puts in some A1 service! I walked in there needing to have my two piece suit (jacket and pants) custom tailored. He began giving me recommendations while showing me how everything would look once finished and I don't think anyone could have done it better. He charged me $95 to tailor a valuable suit that other places were charging almost double. He did the following: Jacket: Tapered the sleeves, Shortened the sleeve cuffs and let in the waist. Pants: Tapered and hemmed the pant legs. The suit now fits very snug and professional. This place is also cash only. I would recommend this place to anyone! read more

Ara turned my off the rack suit into a Euro style fitted suit. It was $115, but you get what you pay for. It is pretty much a brand new suit after he's with it. He altered everything: blazer torso, arm width and length, pants width and length. It's now my favorite suit. I'll be bringing my other suits to Ara from now on. I'm so glad I came here. He did everything within a week. He does men's and women's alternations. He presses the clothes before you pick them up. It's not cheap, but you can trust you'll get exactly what you ask for. read more

Oh Ara, this is such a long overdue review my friend. I came here a while back to have a formal dress altered. The dress was too long and I needed it to be hemmed. The problem was, this dress had a train therefore, making the bottom uneven. The plan I had in my head would not work well per Ara's assessment and he thought of an alternate way to achieve the best results. I went a total of three times. The first initial assessment, he requested for me to return again but with the heels I was going to wear and the third time for pick up. Ara provided me with a reasonable price and my dress alteration came out very nice. I was very happy with his services and would recommend him to anyone looking for alteration needs. *the parking is very limited and the plaza he is located in is kind of run down. Truly a great tailor. I've went twice now to get a suit tailored for a wedding and he was able to get it done and back to me in very little time since I had gone last minute. Both times I asked him to slim down the pants, and cuff them a little higher. And for one of the jackets I had him tighten it to look slim on my body type. The work was amazing. Been here a couple of times and the last two times i came here, Ara hasn't had my coats ready on time like promised. I've had to wait 30min each time so he can have them pressed. He also had to do redo two of my coats because the sleve lenght wasn't correct. I came here twice to get a dress and my maxi shorts tailored. I ordered my shorts from Australia, which was apparently a perfect fit, but just too long on the inseams and cape. I took them to Ara to get them tailored a few hours before I needed them for an outfit later that evening. He promised me he would finish them an hour before I had to go out of town, despite how busy he was, and he did! Shorts and cape were perfectly tailored and are now made to fit me. I needed new suits for work so I bought one at a local wholesaler and made my way to Gem after searching for the nearest tailor in the Cerritos area. Long story short, the turn around time and quality were amazing.
