A Truly Memorable Alpaca Experience We visited Smooth Alpaca Experience as a group of six, ranging in age from 12 to mid-60s, and every one of us absolutely loved it. Joe was wonderful -- fun, informative, kind, humorous, and incredibly knowledgeable. He made the entire experience engaging for both kids and adults alike. We especially enjoyed getting to know all of the alpacas, along with the hilarious three brother goats who definitely put on a performance for us! We learned so much about alpaca behavior, personalities, eating habits, the shearing process, and the care involved in raising them. It was also fascinating to see the finished alpaca products, including socks, hats, gloves, sweaters, and blankets, and to better understand the process from animal to finished product. Overall, this was a unique, educational, and genuinely enjoyable experience that we would highly recommend. Joe made the day extra special! read more

I went with a couple of friends and it was so fun! We met outside Red Rocks and followed him to the farm. He was driving a little fast, so we were worried we didn't turn in the right spot when we couldn't see him, but we made it! I did this with my wife as a birthday present to her- she loved it! The alpacas (and goats) were cute and gentle; I was surprised how well they did with the small children who were present. Joe was friendly and funny. We met him at the upper parking lot at Red Rocks (so easy to find) and then followed him the short distance to his ranch. The road is dirt but well maintained so fine for our old Prius. Once there, Joe gave each of us some hay and then let the animals out of the barn to come to us. He told us each of their creative names. Then we fed them grain pellets-- could even put them on our heads for them to nibble. Then there was a special snack for the goats and an opportunity to brush the goats if we wished. It was easy to get great pictures. read more

We had a great time doing this as our one excursion on a very quick trip for a show at Red Rocks. Joe was very kind and took extra time with our small group booked that day since there wasn't another tour waiting. We got to feed the goats and alpacas and learn all about the park and the animals and I love that so many are named after artists and writers. Beautiful retreat away from all the hustle and bustle. I may have jokingly not jokingly said we had found a new retirement plan. It is a bit spendy for adults but it appears that's helping subsidize the free school tours and such that he does which makes it worthwhile to me, plus feeding and vet care can't be cheap. 10/10 best birthday party experience for my four year old last year. The owner is super chill, informative, and accommodating. we had the whole place to ourselves. He provided an ice table for drinks and foldable tables for food. We brought chic-a-filet for the kiddos + juice boxes, some snacks and had wine and beer for the parents and hung out picnic style on benches and blankets. highly recommend bringing a polaroid camera to send the birthday guests home with alpaca selfies. the alpacas are SO sweet, there were at least 10 probably more, so no shortage of pettiny and animal interactions. We did this in March 2024, and a year later, parents and kids both still bring it up as the coolest most unique experience. read more

Joe provided a wonderful experience. Booked the experience online the day prior and met at the agreed-upon location. Tip: be sure to follow the directions closely in the confirmation email; use the coordinates provided. For a reasonable price you get over an hour with his lovely goats and alpacas, which includes feeding, petting. It's a lot of fun and they're gentle, relaxing creatures which enhances the experience. Be sure to wear clothes that you don't mind getting dirty because you will get dirty! It's worth it because this is a unique, up & close experience. Joe knows a lot about these cool animals and will educate accordingly. He's also happy to answer questions (had plenty of them). To close the experience, he will happily take you to the warehouse if interested in purchasing alpaca-related items. But you won't feel hassled to make a purchase. Highly recommend the experience. What a fun Saturday afternoon activity! The alpaca farm is in a great location next to red rocks amphitheater, not that far from Denver Metro and worth the trip to get out of the city for a bit. The owner was very enthusiastic about sharing information about his animals and giving us a chance to interact with them in the paddock. He also has a great variety of alpaca products (hats, socks, sweaters, etc.) in a little shop on the property. He was also very willing to share his experience starting the business and the cost/benefits of raising alpaca. Very fun experience that's about 25 minutes from Denver. Owner was great and helpful with the knowledge of the animals. He let us feed the alpacas & goats and pet them as well. Got cozy socks in his shop after the experience for the winter and I'd rate this 100/10 any day of the week. Amazing experience! The alpacas and goats were very gentle and friendly. The host was very kind and knowledgeable. Clear instructions for meeting were provided ahead of time. Be punctual! You meet at a lot further up and follow the host down (in your own personal vehicle). He provided a ride if you needed it (but only what his truck allowed to fit). The lot can be busy at times so be attentive and aware of your surroundings. It's a short distance from the lot to the farm with a short section of unpaved/dirt road pathway that you drive on. The farm was moderately sized and you can feed, pet, and wash the alpacas, and even pick up the goats! Always be mindful these are still animals so if they don't want to be touched or picked up, don't force them. There is more than enough time to hangout with all the animals. Overall a great experience! I had a ton of fun and loved every minute of it! There is also a small shop with some alpaca goodies. I suggest wearing long lightweight pants and sneakers. The grounds were dry, but can get muddy in a designated section when washing the alpacas. My fiancé wore shorts and for some reason the goats really liked his knees so they kept rubbing against them. Sunscreen is a must, as you are in direct sunlight on sunny days and there is no coverings for shade. Super fun time! read more
