May 2023 -- Efficient Heating and Cooling installs new split Rheems HeatPump…read more April 2024 -- No cooling from Heat Pump April 8 2024 -- Efficient Heating and Cooling tech arrives. Determines that the unit has no refrigerant. Finds leak in the lines between the inside air handler and the external compressor. Since the line was not part of the original install, repairs would not be handled under warranty. That was not what I wanted to hear, but I understood Efficient's stance. I requested a quote on the repairs. The Efficient Tech was not able to find anybody available to make or confirm a quote for the work. The tech promised that the quote would be delivered the next day. (April 9) April 30 2024 -- no quote or communication from Efficient Heating and Cooling. No text. No email. No phone call. April 30 2024 -- place call with Lee Company. May 1, 2024 -- Lee Company tech arrives and confirms that all the refrigerant has leaked out via a leak in the connecting lines. May 2, 2024 -- Lee Company sends a two technician team and they are able to complete repairs in a single day. May 2, 2024 Unit is working fine. Efficient Heating and Cooling never following up with a quote is not great. But it is a busy time. Guess I got lost in the shuffle. BUT The distressing part of this are the issues that were found apart from the leak ... Issues that were part of the original install by Efficient Heating and Cooling. Efficient Heating and Cooling trumpets its status as a Rheems partner and yet there were mistakes in the original install. " Found condenser wired incorrectly and thermostat programmed incorrectly." "Y2 and O/B were reversed at the condenser and thermostat was set to energize reversing valve on cool. Aux Heat wire was also landing on the wrong terminal at the thermostat. "

It leaked again on second use and they repaired it, then tried to slap with us with a $600+ service fee. We used it twice, and it leaked both times and WE have to pay for that? Attached is the picture and message sent. How is it that the customer would be responsible for this the FIRST time is was used after a repair?? This is not right. Attached is a picture of the leak and the message I sent them. They are a fine company as far as showing up and doing the work, but anyone can do that- integrity comes out in the customer service provided. I emailed the owner twice, and the angry gatekeeper (who hung up on me) told me that she spoke to him and they will not reverse the charge. He doesn't even have the integrity to call an unhappy customer. I would NEVER recommend this company to anyone.

Once I actually had a problem with my hvac system not cooling they sent out a "new employee" to diagnose the problem & then came back with a price / contract for the repairs. Since the amount was almost 1000$ I told them I wanted to think about it & get back to them. Upon trying to reach back out to this company I kept getting diverted to the answering service which is over seas & a foreigner that does not speak good english. I finally found another company after searching for another qualified company in the area & they came out & found the problem which had nothing to do with what I was quoted from Lanham . The repair was 100$ & they also only charge 89$ for winterizing & summerizing the hvac system & 100$ diagnosis so it was a total of 289$ instead of 980$. They also said that "many other companies are unfortunately dishonest & try to take advantage of people & that is very unfortunate". I'm just happy I found a more trustworthy hvac company to start using. I would recommend Affordable Heating & Cooling over Lanham Mechanical.

The big name company in town starting with an H quoted over $13,000 for the repair/replacement. Brock Heating and Air came out and had the system running in less than three hrs and actually showed me what the problem was and what the best ways were to fix it. The repair from them was less than 1/6th the price from the competitor! They will be servicing my unit from now on! They are extremely trustworthy and go the extra mile to fix the problem properly with out screwing the customer like some of the other companies I have tried. Thank you for your quick response and prompt workmanship. My girls truly appreciate having the heater running properly.

Worst case- the owner agrees with how things were handled and Mark and team are following the lead of someone who cannot be trusted to stand by his work. DO NOT trust them with your home. Mark and team helped us in December 2024 and we thought the repair went well. Fast forward to today when the part they replaced (blower wheel) fails. Their diagnosis- A mouse must have done it. No joke- that was Nick's (tech) explanation and Mark (COO) doubled down on it. When questioned, they did offer other suggestions like "maybe a screw did it" and "maybe your tenants don't change the air filters often enough". When asked about a warranty or standing by their work and craftsmanship Mark stated "Yes, we absolutely stand by our work. Your blower wheel worked beautifully for you for 10 months". In addition to an outrageous lack of accountability for their work, Nick was also extremely rude when my husband challenged his "a mouse ate your (metal!) blower wheel story", hanging up on my husband and then telling Mark it was the other way around. Very poor performance standing behind their product and a severe lack of professionalism. The kicker is that their poor quality work and product also damaged our blower motor so in addition to having someone else come out to properly fix their sub-par work, we now have an additional cost to cover. Never showed, and never answered any text or call. Home warranty company assigned it to a new company that won't be out until Monday. If he wasn't going to show, he could have at least had the decency to tell me. At least then I could have contacted a different company and not had to go 5 days with no AC.
