I went to this store a few weeks ago and bought some fish for my saltwater aquarium. They seemed fine until last week, when the fish that I bought from this store all died from ich. I found a dead baby guinea pig in one of their cages with about 8 other baby guinea pigs laying around it. It looked like it had been there for over an hour at least. I was horrified. Their puppies are so sad and all of their animals are mistreated. I will NEVER return to this store ever again. read more

I never write reviews but I had to for this place. We bought a kitty here and brought it to the vet 5 days later to only find that it at TWO parasites. I had to argue with the manager for them to pay for the medication. Needless to say I would NOT recommend getting your animal from here. Giving 1 star is being nice! I would not recommend this store. May sound little to some however my experience with the staff and manager was totally unacceptable. Purchased a puppy with the incorrect information given and when confronted I was told she assumed the date. Was told by an employee the wrong mixed breed. During conversation with allie "manager" she stated they price drop every Wednesday. I had asked because days after purchasing puppy cost went down $100. Well same litter was priced drop however I recommended someone else to look at the puppies out of the same litter and had been there the same amount of days past said Wednesday price drop and it wasnt! Same Day I spoke to allie and advised her of person coming over and in my opinion it is possible she upped the price knowing someone would come by. This is however my assumption but based on the experience I had with this store I wouldn't put anything past Her. For the price of puppy and buying it from a supposedly reputable store I would've hoped to be giving correct information. I'm not sure how many people who have purchased animals from them with her going on assumption!! And/or employees guessing at questions asked. I would've never found out any of this if it wasn't for an employee telling me what my puppy was mixed with me knowing there is no way! She doesn't care about anything after the sale or custom service. And the paper work stated he was a female in fact he is truly a male which was scribbled off paper work at time of purchase. They are not knowledgeable and untrustworthy! The other puppy purchased was a mix also and was verified by breeder but she is stating is purebred. I don't think she knows anything about these animals unless she is picking them from a trailer behind the store with papers. If she buys them from regular people selling them to her she assumes which is not fair to consumers like us thinking we are being told correct information on our furbabies! Beware before you purchase any animal from them. You as I did could be purchasing an animal with incorrect information. And would never know unless you do some investigation. I do however love my puppy. But with all the inconsistencies I knew something wasn't right! read more

My boyfriend and i go in there almost every weekend and for the last month we been going there we notice the fish had ich! So we told them 3 weeks ago about fish having ich on them and they neglected the situation. We go in there today and the same fish and more had ich on them so then again we notify management and all they say is well ich won't spread through out the tanks with a attitude towards us. Then we ask them hey will you give us a discount on the fish with ich and they only said take a dollar off. One of the fish was a baby silver Arowana. They sell fish with ich on them and they are so stupid they don't think it would spread through out all the other tanks due to same filtration system. They lost good customers today. read more

After a disastrous experience trying to buy a cat tree at 2 different area Petco stores, we were passing this Pet Kare store and stopped in. Unfortunately, the selection of cat trees was not quite what we had been looking for. HOWEVER, the clerk we dealt with was extermely cheerful and tried his best to help. I will consider going back to this store for other pet needs I may have in the future. read more

We bought a TERRIFIED Boston terrier puppy from Pet Kare- less than 4 pounds and he was non stop shaking until he finally warmed up to us in our apartment. Once he did however, he was very energetic and comfortable. Unfortunately, we were unable to keep the puppy due to our living situation, and upon returning him to Pet Kare, the pupy began to shake uncontrollably and whimper. Obviously very upset over having to give him back, we called Pet Kare to ask if we could be alerted by phone when he was adopted by a family. The employee over the phone was incredibly rude and condescending. He denied any and all requests. we are certain the animals are not treated well in this store, especially because of the horrible experience we had with the employees, aka the ones handling the animals. We purchased a Yorkshire Terrier that is ACA certified from here in July 2014. The process was a little shady. The associate did not want to answer our questions or provide us with the breeders information until the purchase was finalized. When we took her to the vet she had an under bite as well as Patellar luxation (which causes her knee caps to pop out of place but was something that the vet said she could live with). A quick google search on the breeder lead us to a large puppy mill in Ohio. Despite our initial concerns, she turned out to be a loving, playful puppy that is very smart and brings so much joy to our hearts. At about 6 months old she started to have ~1 seizure a month. We were told to monitor the seizures and changed her food to an organic brand. Despite our effects her seizures persisted and became worse. We currently just got an assessment from a specialist who informed us that our little girl as liver shunts that needs to be treated with surgery and can lead to shortening of life. Her knees are now a GRADE 4 for Patellar luxation but we can not fix them surgically due to the risk of seizures on the operation table. We are heartbroken that a pet store would buy puppies from a known puppy mill and try to hide the records until the $1000 purchase was finalized. Our baby's suffering is due to pure ignorance. Please, think before you buy any animal from this place. Owners and more importantly the puppies for sale should not have to go through what we are dealing with. read more

I just visited this store for the first time and it was so sad. I went in to get dog food but refused to give them my business when I saw the puppies. They didn't even have the care to give them blankets or beds to sleep on. They all looked so sad. My heart is broken. If they supposedly care about pets then why can't they spare to give them blankets or toys since they are locked up in their cages all hours of the day. This place should not be selling animals. we bought a hamster ,it chewed through the box on the way home and hid inside the car.we caught it the next day and tried to take it back .THEY WOULD NOT TAKE IT BACK UNLESS IT WAS DEAD(their words) . The Clerk assured us when we bought it that they would take it back within 5 days , SHE LIED, She said she never said it.when I went back to the store Jeremy was extremely rude and indignit and combative and he said they didn't know who the store owner was or when they would be around. I bought my puppy from this location less than a week ago. My puppy is already sick and currently on antibiotics suffering from an upper respiratory infection. I was reassured multiple times by several different employees that the puppy I was buying did NOT come from a puppy mill but from a reputable breeder. After further research post purchase I discovered that the "Maple Kennels" as listed on my puppy's documentation provided is a notorious puppy mill in Missouri. This place of business if extremely unprofessional and misleading. After discussing my unfortunate situation with others I have found out that this Pet Kare gets their puppies straight from the puppy mills. Absolutely horrifying- first of all the store was filthy. The puppies in back of the store were from PUPPY MILLS. On the front of their cage was a name of the 'breeder'. I googled them when I instantly became suspicious- if a store has multiple animals- 'designer' breeds and one of each that's a RED flag for PUPPY MILLS. then i asked to see some of them to see thier condition- this poor little westie had growths on his ears, coat was matted and dirty and eyes and nose were filled with mucus. i was horrified. poor guy. i asked if a vet comes and cleans them and she said no we do- she was 19!!! not a vet tech. just a sales associate. and they're charging over 1,000 for him! with no background check- anyone can go in buy him and leave. One star is putting this nicely. Two, not one but 2 dogs from here we had costly issues with. The first one was a Yorkie born 1/27/17 who passed away in Dec due to Liver failure! Not to mention when we purchased him he had major issues including Kennel Cough that showed up a few weeks after purchase. Second was a 11 ish week old Westie that had seizures less than one week after taking him home! These are not healthy dogs, and from what we have been told we are not the first to deal with these types of issues from Pet nightmare (aka "Kare"). Worst part is my children who are little have endured such pain from having the loss of the first puppy and now a second. It takes a real cruel type of person to sell sick, over bred, and puppy mill dogs to families who pay $$$ for the dogs to only have to take them home and pay ridiculous amounts of emergency vet bills and even worst have to put them down! We will actually be consulting a lawyer about this place and their so called pet store. DO NOT PURCHASE A PET HERE!!!! read more

Pet Kare doesn't even deserve 1 star, but i cant do less. Everytime i've been there the fish are sick and dying, the rodents are not separeted by sex, the employees don't know anything about the animals they sell, the cats and dogs are all from puppy mills and backyard breeders and theyre usually sick, the dogs are not properly labled [for example my min pin was labled as a brown and tan, this is wrong, he is a chocolate, and the min pin my now ex got was definately not a purebreed as labled]. Their prices dont make it better either. Everything is way over priced compared to other pet stores and even groccery stores. This store is a mess, and honestly the only reason i ever went there was it was close to home and the only place to still sell live animals. On a side note, they refused to help me by taking my guinea pig(which i bought there) since I'm moving and can't keep her. They and pretty much every other pet store gave her a death sentence. She is now snake food, thanks. Don't shop at Pet Kare unless you absolutely have to. read more
