Policy inception proof
Brianna L.

Petplan Pet Insurance - North America is trying to scam me. My dog had an issue and they are trying to tell me it's a preexisting condition because he hasn't had a physical within six months from his policy date. I argued that he has been seen six months before the policy date, and I have the documents to prove it. It happens to fall on the exact date of the policy's inception date. But, it's still valid. I can see the policy inception date on my end when I'm arguing this point. Well low and behold I check my account today and the inception date is CHANGED on their end. Too bad for them I took a screen shot of the original inception date that was on THEIR website. Picture 1) Original inception date Picture 2) His puppy physical date (In the notes the doctor wrote the wrong date, but see in the highlighted spots that it has the correct date in TWO spots) Picture 3) Their CHANGE on their website regarding my policy inception date. Shady no? Why change the date if you're not in the wrong? Pet plan. This is not right. Make it right!

Clearly says how much I have paid

I would not recommend Petplan to anyone. I have Nationwide Wellness Plan for the same pet and never had any issues with claims for the last 3 years. I would given a 0 if I had the option to. I did extensive research before signing up my pet for this insurance. Had it for 3 years and ran into problems the first time I tried to use it. 1) They just want the payments and will try to not pay your claim at any slightest pretext. 2) They want 2 years of medical history from all your vets to consider any claims. I submitted an invoice by a Vet emergency room and they didn't accept it stating it is not a final invoice (it clearly says I paid the entire amount.). I made multiple calls and mentioned it was the only invoice I had. They said they will look into it and never got back it to me. It has been 2 months and it took another phone call from me to find that they will not accept the invoice.

Ask the Community - Petplan Pet Insurance

What is the cancellation address for PetPlan? It is not located anywhere on their site which is irritating and there is no link to cancel. I asked them via chat and email and never received a response.

Just call them and cancel. Off they try to argue, tell them your lawyer will send a letter. They won't give you back any premiums.

To top it off, they sent me a reimbursement check (90% minus the $200 deductible) much sooner than I was expecting!

From Nationwide to Figo -- The Upgrade Our Dogs Deserve…read more After 4 dogs and more than 15 years, we finally made the switch in pet insurance--and wow, do I wish we'd done it sooner. Goodbye Nationwide. Hello, Figo! I honestly can't believe we now have significantly better coverage, higher reimbursement, and we're saving over $330 a year. That alone would've sold me, but then there's the Figo app--easy to use, packed with helpful details, and just generally designed to make pet parent life simpler. Even prescription costs are lower. Figo is offered through Costco, which gives an automatic 15% discount, and if you insure a second dog, that jumps to 20% off. Nationwide? We only received a 5% employer discount. Not even close. Here's where it really matters: Figo: ** $250 deductible ** 90% reimbursement ** unlimited coverage, plus ** wellness care (bloodwork, vaccines, and vet exams included) Nationwide: ** $250 deductible ** 70-80% reimbursement, capped at $5,000 per category annually, and NO wellness or exam coverage--despite what we were paying Yes, you can customize deductibles and reimbursement levels to lower the premium, but the plan we chose gives us maximum coverage and reimbursement--and still costs far less. I truly regret waiting. I should have switched months ago... especially back in October when Nationwide informed us they were discontinuing the plan we had for our boy. If you're on the fence: don't wait like I did. **Figo is a game changer.** #Figo #PetInsuranceUpgrade #WorthIt

Previously with Nationwide Pet Insurance, premiums were higher but dedicated customer support existed. I could easily call and receive answers from one of their professional and courteous representatives. I also received a higher percentage of reimbursed claims. With Figo, filing a claim is done through AI. When I had questions about a denied claim, I called customer service because Figo's AI isn't equipped to answer questions. The representative spoke so quickly. Even when I asked the rep to slow down for comprehension's sake, everything was handled at the same rushed pace. I called at another time for different reasons and received the same rep with the same hurried style. The extra star is for when claims are approved: the reimbursement process doesn't take long. Also, Figo charges lower premiums than other companies. Rating them a one-star came to mind because their process seems more complicated than Nationwide's and less claims are being approved through Figo. If I downgraded them to a one-star after filing more claims, it wouldn't surprise me.

Well, this past August I was told that they were not renewing my coverage because they were basically going out of business, & referred me to their "partner" SPOT Pet Insurance (which costs 3x as much!). I have since learned that may not be the case, as a friend of mine is STILL making payments to BIVVY, which are being accepted. Anyway, when I made my last payment, I had already started shopping around, & within a few minutes of making that payment, I did sign with another company. I then emailed BIVVY for a refund, but never heard from anyone. Now they're are claiming that they have no such record of any email. Why don't you just give me back my $80, rather than face a seething review??!!!! DO NOT TAKE OUT BIVVY INSURANCE ON YOUR PETS!!!!!!!!!!! THEY ARE CHEATS!!!!!! GO WITH A REPUTABLE COMPANY!!! I wish I could give LESS than a full star!!!

About 12 months of claims they did not do. No refund, no help, complete denial of service. " It's pretty shady for a pet insurance company to deny claims when he paid the premiums religiously. We do not recommend this insurance company.
